Just opening the new thread while I have a chance! All welcome here, join in with the housework chat, the keep calm corner and general ramblings about life in lockdown!
Any of us have been here a long time so we may seem cliquey but it’s never intentional - newbies and returners are always welcome.

I want to steal a chip 😆

Bowerbird5 · 21/04/2020 18:18

Lane 🤣Justlove the comment about the dictionary. Perhaps he would an encyclopaedia especially a specific one say animals.

Willow My mum was saying I was clumsy since I was three! I still walk into things sometimes. DH just can’t believe it. I blame my varifocals now but do wonder if I have been dyspraxic all my life. Oh and for some reason I can’t spell very well at the moment. DdH has Ben laughing about that. Normally I am quite good at spellings - Catholic education and fear of the black board duster plus spelling 🐝 bees. One of the teachers at school decided I was probably the best speller amongst the staff. He was testing staff during a in-service meeting and would wait and then ask me. I only made one mistake I was quite chuffed but now I have been misspelling in crosswords. Dementia ?
I am getting forgetful. I hope not I dread that.

Mmmm macaroni cheese oh how I miss that. It sounds good giveme
I can’t remember what I put on my meal plan and I can’t find it😳

I have wiped the kitchen cupboards and made a coffee cake for bartering later. I had no butter but then thought it would be better not to split and ice cake as I would have to touch it whereas I could leave it in paper case and just ice the top so that’s what I have done. He can peel the paper case off and wash his hands and then it will be ok. I did put something on the “What are you making today? “ that some people might not be happy with it and had to crawl under a bush while some through stones and quotes at me. DH decided he didn’t want a take awY for that reason.someone was upset because they left brownies on the step and the mum shouted at them. I would do that but understand if you don’t want to eat something. However he was very up for this as a swap.
I better set off he gets back after 6 and I need to walk about a mile up hill( some of the way) and I need to find a cardboard box.

Bowerbird5 · 21/04/2020 18:22

Oh they look so cute.

Lisette😍 so lovely to hear from you.

I would like to steal a portion of mac cheese and red pepper.

Fluffiest · 21/04/2020 19:27

bower cake for hens is more of a business transaction than a social thing in my eyes and is therefore allowed in the realm of lockdown.

giveme the kids are super cute!

I've worked hard this afternoon and been on my feet nearly the whole time. But whilst I was digging the flowerbed, DD thought it would be great fun to pour dirt on me. Little spadeful at a time. She got it in my shoes, on my hair and even down the back of my jeans Blush. So I've treated myself to a hot bath, glass of wine and a lush bubble bar straight after tea.

Problem is I'm now too clean and dozy to face the mountain of washing up downstairs. I think I might slouch off to the keep calm corner and tackle it in the morning. DH is busy putting DD to bed so I'm just sitting on my bed, looking out at the trees and browsing mumsnet. My only motivation to move is that I'd quite like a second glass of wine...and maybe some doritos and sour cream and chive dip.....

LaneBoy · 21/04/2020 19:28

Hi lisette :)

Have PMed we3 also as she is missing!

Give gorgeous pic! I love hearing what you do with your lovely boys. Any recommendations for particular objects to use with float or sink? I really want to try that with Cagletini but can’t think of many objects that won’t get ruined!

Bower I think stress can really mess with people’s memory, so it’s probably that. :) Sorry about the criticism for baking for others.

I might try the pepper in the cheese sauce when I do a tuna pasta bake. That’s different enough for DS to still eat it - he will eat most things with pasta (just picks big things out) but if I mess with his absolute favourite meal he would probably be very miffed!

I'm around Bower but headachy and trying to combine work and home schooling so I've not been posting much on here. Lovely to see you too 😘 🌻🌷

Lisette1940 · 21/04/2020 19:34

Hi Lane! I also have what was described as ontological angst in one episode of Rev. Possibly also known as a midlife crisis 😆 I'm not getting out enough... 😜

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 21/04/2020 21:18

Ah, your boys are lovely, give. Hope you got your book finished and cake out in time, Bower.

I didn't write a to do for this afternoon / eve, but I can Ta Da the following:
♥️ Maps created and dropped into report
🧡 Found the mythical Missing Cousin mentioned in the initial research request. Was actually a second cousin through 2 female marriages, so not obvious!
💛 Washing off the line
💚 All of yesterday's and today's washing sorted and handed out
💙 Upstairs hoovered
💜 DS3 in bed
🖤 DS2's parcel posted.

Haven't hurt myself again (yet). Zoo, hope your hands are healing.

Lane, I'm not supposed to share the OT's graphic, but it's based on emotional regulation and 4 states of being - blue (sad, tired, ill, can't be bothered); green (calm, happy, focussed, ready to learn); yellow (anxious, keyed-up, jumpy, nervous can follow text but not engage or take it in) and red (totally beyond anything - angry or frightened or crying or humiliated, ashamed, guilty - all the big negative emotions - or unable to stop moving, shouting, flailing etc). We are supposed to be identifying as a family how we individually feel at various times, and how we feel in certain situations. DS3 is very good at naming his emotions, but can't shift state, as it were (neither can DD, but she's not working with this OT. Yet).

Right. Bath, codeword puzzle and bed. I've done enough for today.

Hi all. Two shifts down and day off tomorrow. All still ok at work and I’ve just spent an enjoyable few minutes catching up with you all.

Zoo hope Iceland are good to you tomorrow and you get everything you need. Sending sympathy for the heavy period.

Bower hope the hens are settling in nicely.

Fluff hope the leak didn’t put too much of a dampener (no pun intended) on DH’s day and you’ve got it all sorted. I can relate to the weird house. Ours feels a bit cobbled together in parts.

Yay for the uni extension That.

DH has surprised me while I’ve been at work. He’s had the house lovely, tea cooked, done laundry and has done lots of crafty things with DD as well as keeping her active in the garden and out on her bike. I mean, it’s what I do normally, but I didn’t expect things to be to my standard or to get done without a nudge in the right direction so it’s been a revelation. Means my ta da list is pretty small for yesterday and today...
✅ s & s
✅ yoga
✅ birthday presents ordered
✅ some financial bits sorted
✅ new mattress on bed Smile

KCC (you’re doing a fab job with it lane):

▪️Talent - erm... I do a cracking headstand. Not sure I’d get on the royal variety show with that though
▪️School curriculum - not sure how much has changed since my day but I think a focus on keeping mentally healthy is important. Mindfulness, self-confidence, dealing with anxiety, anger management, resilience etc. I also agree life skills such as budgeting should be looked at. I’ve often thought it would be nice to have some sort of ‘free’ subject too, ie studying a topic entirely of the student’s own choosing, self-directed but with support with research, critical thinking etc from the teacher. It’s probably unrealistic though as the curriculum is already pretty packed and I’m not sure what I’d take out. I don’t think the poor teachers need anything additional added!

▪️Comfort food - Sunday roast drowning in gravy, or an authentic curry, the spicier the better. I also love goats cheese, with roasted red pepper and balsamic.

Waves to Chic, Willow, expletive, SC, Lisette, Hazel, We3, Giveme, Cineraria, Foxes, Stressy. Hope I haven’t missed anyone. Night fledglings.

Bowerbird5 · 21/04/2020 23:32

MHen wasn’t back when we went up. I should have taken some card and a pen. I didn’t want to leave the cake as them hens are free range. Try again tomorrow and take some card and a pen.

Yes I finished the book and went in and the cake was ready. 😀 the book turned out to be very good.

Got some of the boudoir done. Clothes put away, bedside tables sorted. Dirty Landry out ready for tomorrow

zoo when i get iceland delivered they deliver slightly different other supermarkets

Asda / tesco / morrisons all bring stack of crates piled up either carried or on wheely thing. Leave at front door and i unpack.

Iceland man carries 60,000 bags all at same time and flings them into my house Grin

Since the virus i have had asda tesco and iceland. Only asda seem to have changed. No paper reciept from them, and cannot give substitutes back to them have to take to store

I should add she's
a) had breakfast
B)she's got a coat on,bloody nippy here at mo

LaneBoy · 22/04/2020 07:41

That I’m so glad it’s not just me! I was really confused and even asked on one of the Bitesize FB posts but no reply. Not sure if it’s to get people using the rest of the website but the search function is a bit naff and I had more success with googling “Bitesize [subject] quiz” to find it on their own site Hmm I’m happy to search for stuff as it’s habit from home ed but I can’t deny I was very excited at the thought of not needing to do that this term 😳 oh well it’s still useful as a starting point I guess. And I took advantage of the free month code with Twinkl (PARENTSTWINKLHELPS) - I’ve only ever had free membership before so am making the most of being able to download anything 😅

KT aw I’m so glad your DH seems to be enjoying and making the most of the time as a SAHD :) and that work is ok! TBF I’d be more impressed at a handstand than many of this year’s dance groups Hmm :o

Had a nice chat with DD1 about school last night so she didn’t go to bed in a mood. Also booked a Tesco delivery.

THATscurryfungeBITCH · 22/04/2020 07:42
