Just opening the new thread while I have a chance! All welcome here, join in with the housework chat, the keep calm corner and general ramblings about life in lockdown!
Any of us have been here a long time so we may seem cliquey but it’s never intentional - newbies and returners are always welcome.

That a sounds delicious zoo and thanks 🌻 I'll try to be more gentle with myself. Off for a walk now

KTCluck · 29/04/2020 20:05

Evening fledglings.

Well done on the bed clearing Zoo! I hate anything on my bed, it’s the one place that is always kept clear. The floor however... it’s ok today as I’ve tidied, but how Ive never broken my ankle on a nighttime loo trip I’ve no idea.

Lisette don’t be too hard on yourself, you’ll get back on top of it.

Foxes you have my sympathy. I’m struggling having no time alone in the house, but I at least get 4 days at work and don’t have to try and work with DD under my feet. Don’t feel bad if the house has to slide a bit, you can’t do it all. Maybe just concentrate on the basics? Laundry, shiny sink, s & s and home bleurgh?

Ive still got a grubby living room, will try and do a bit before work. Didn’t manage to do the nursery video either as DD didn’t keep her clothes on long enough Grin. However I did:
✅ finish home bleurgh upstairs (mine inclouded bathroom clean)
✅ another LOL done and in the dryer
✅ make some thank you cards with DD
✅ craft stuff put away after
✅ dinner dishes done and sink gleaming
✅ overnight oats and clothes for tomorrow prepped
✅ ran hoover over downstairs

Glass of red before bed now. I WILL get up early and exercise. I WILL!!

JigoloHarMegiddo · 29/04/2020 21:40

Evening all! I kept trying to post here today and Stuff kept occurring.

The sun was out this morning, so I woke up full of the joys of spring and very gung ho to get on with stuff. DS3 slept the clock round from 7.50pm to 7.45 am!!

Ta Das:
🖤 Dog walk with DH to discuss financial things away from flappy ears
💖 Beds aired and made
🧡 S&S
💛 LOL
💚 family bathroom properly scrubbed. Yuk. foxes my issue was definitely down the back of the loo due to "overspray" Envy

LaneBoy · 29/04/2020 21:50

ta da
💜Bit of piano
💙Watched more twelfth night - so so funny, will finish in the morning
💜Gathered laundry
💙Got toddler clothes collected
💜Looked for some twinkl stuff on a topic but decided we would do a poster instead tomorrow
💙Brief bit of work as the author hasn’t finished the current bit yet
💜Finally ensured made it to a taekwondo class online! Pic attached
💙Stash and dash due to class - if these are regular it may help us keep on top of things although the creation of BRCs isn’t so great! It was kind of like that when I taught piano regularly TBH
💜Stripped leftover roast chicken and saved along with the veg for easy stir fry tomorrow. That’ll prevent me ordering a KFC for at least its first day of reopening for takeaway service :o

Going to bed now as I’m shattered. Tomorrow I ABSOLUTELY MUST:
🌈Put money in savings
🌈Pay for gym membership
🌈Set alarm to try and get a tesco delivery for like a month’s time 🙄

Oops. Taekwondo pic attached. Note the clear floor in that area (plus more to be fair) but the other side of the room is a very different story and the curtains are shut so nobody could see the mess in the garden either :o

Jigolo on Sunday night we got a 7-7 from DS4. Prayed that this was him finally sleeping through but sadly it wasn't. My other 3 were insanely good sleepers he is definitely the odd one out there. He's actually just Woken up (not surprising as DS3 climbed into bed with him and he is a right wriggler) so he's now in my bed and I'm attempting to boob him back to sleep. He won't usually sleep for me and DH has to do it (not with boobs 😂) but he has a bad back so I'm attempting it. He was half asleep when I brought him through so 🤞

I have more 'going out' clothes than I do everyday clothes. No idea why as I rarely go out. Work days it's usually black trousers and a blouse (if they fit), days at home it's just jeans and a top. Shorts/dress of it's warm. I will wear a dress and tights occasionally if I'm making a hot of an effort. Since lockdown though it's mainly been joggers. I haven't been been bothering with make up since we started school work again.

Today's ta-da's
✔️ DC breakfast (cereal)
✔️ dishes and clean tables
✔️ LOL
✔️ Me bathed and dressed
✔️ popped to Lidl while they did PE with Joe. I'm going to Asda tomorrow but we were completely out of a few things that couldn't wait.

Schoolwork today has been speech therapy and colouring for DS3, maths worksheets for DS2, DS1 has done a load of reading (he's also doing Kensukes kingdom lane), BBC bitesize stuff and a maths lesson on white rose.

We went for a walk to the hobbit houses (I've attached a pic coz they're so cute) before lunch (pasta with odds and ends from the fridge and cream cheese) then they decorated some shop bought fairy cakes.

DS3 turn to help with dinner (chicken in black bean sauce, noodles, spring rolls etc) then:

✔️ dishes
✔️ hoover
✔️ clean tables
✔️ ironing
✔️ bath and bed for littles
✔️ supper for bigs (cereal)
✔️ more dishes 😩

Then sat and read for a bit to have some space on my own. Trying to do this everyday even if just 5 mins to save me getting people out and killing someone for breathing wrong.

Well since I've written this he's fallen asleep 😁 (not surprising the length of it 🙈) so I'm going to go and watch a film with DH.

Just realised I don't have a hobbit house picture without a child in it so you can have DS3

Hi all. Bit of a meh day. Work. Cleaning. Laundry. Again.
Have just enjoyed watching The Sewing Bee though!

Lisette if it makes you feel any better then I have dropped the ball too. I've put on a kilo and a half under lockdown despite supposedly dieting. I had all these grand exercise and decluttering plans and have only managed them intermittently. I am aiming to do better in May too Flowers.

As Zoo said you were ill for ages and needed to take time out to recover, so don't be hard on yourself Flowers

Star for bed clearance Zoo and hope you get the spices you need!

Sounds as though your three year old is having an industrious time That!

Foxes and others, I can't imagine how draining it is not having a moment to yourself Flowers. Could you speak to your DH and "reserve" a time at weekends when you are guaranteed an hour or alone, even if it's just to go out for a walk or upstairs in your bedroom? If it was a scheduled you could at least then look forward to it. (Not great but at least it would be something.)

Strawberrycreamsundae your garden sounds wonderful!

Bower whey hey to new chicks!

Sorry to leave out lots! Bit distracted as DD is not feeling very well tonight with stomach issues, sore throat etc. A real puzzle what it is and where she has got it because she only goes out to run every other day and straight back. DH and me ok (so far!).

Clothes: argh. No favourites currently because I am too fat and hate the way I look in everything! At home I wear very 'rough' clothes such as trackie/yoga pants and polo shirts/trainers because this house is very tough on your clothes as are the furries. A gilet on top of it's cold. I always change to go out.

Waves to everyone!

Argh sorry Meggido I can't spell tonight!

averytiredmom · 30/04/2020 00:00

Thank you for the ideas everyone. I’m really struggling with activities as DS1 is quite ahead for his age, so I feel that I can do some things aimed at reception starters with him, but DS2 is a bit behind for his age so it’s finding things to keep them both occupied. And then also the baby!.

We3 lovely pic!! He’s gorgeous.

Wow jig a lot of boys on this thread!. I think I’d be very out of my depth with a girl, even though I know every child’s different!. My family actually have barely any boys, my DF’s side only has 2 young boys (not including mine) and DSM’s side only has 1. So my boys are absolutely spoiled rottenGrin

Didn’t get much flying done, still zonked from last night. I’ve put DS3 in with me (in his cot) so hopefully he doesn’t wake his bros up. Then I might actually be able to get something done tomorrow.

Bowerbird5 · 30/04/2020 00:42

Just flitting through. I will come back and read posts tomorrow as I’m tired now.
Anti - procrastination day - I managed this a day early.

The hens are settling though still separated. I had one egg from Gladys and one Pip.

I painted the new shelves in the sitting room. Startedplacing books in groups which led to cleaning the bookshelf in the hall.

HungryHazelEyes · 30/04/2020 03:27

I worked today so no flying at home by me. DD had to wash her sheets this morning as the dog was throwing up last night. Not sure what was wrong with her but she seems much better today.

At home I've been wearing leggings and joggers with comfy tops and hoodies. At work I wear jeans/ skinny trousers with a nice top, nothing too fancy but usually have to wear layers as I get cold in the office. I usually have a jacket (like a cargo jacket) to put on if I need to. I have been wearing ballet flats as it's been nice, but also love wearing boots when it's cooler.

we3 the hobbit house is cute, as is your DS.

lane love the action picture and clear floor space!

zoo your DD sounds amazing for doing some shopping for you, you raised her well

I had a couple more ta das for yesterday:

🌺 Ironing(!!!)

🌺 S&S.

🌺 Got clothes out ready for today (before my shower last night)

🌺 DW rotated and sink shiny.

Other than cleaning up the kitchen after dinner tonight, not much going on here.

We3kingsoforientareandabump · 30/04/2020 04:29

FGS DS3 woke up climbed out of bed walked into the door (didn't hurt himself but it made a massive bang) he found this hilarious and started laughing his head off. This woke the rest of the house up so now everyone is awake and I'm trying to get them all back to sleep. 😴

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/04/2020 05:31

Hope you resettled the brood we3
Been awake since 330,up and moving 30 minute
Put last shopping away from yesterday in a mo
Cats are fed and fussed over
Need pan my day

THATscurryfungeBITCH · 30/04/2020 05:51

Brew ty zoo

Littlest dc up since 430. Oh joy. 😴

Hope you got more sleep we3

Brilliant that your dd1 got shopping in zoo

Am i the only one not washing shopping? Blush

Also a jeans and tshirt girl. As i am ridiculously short i struggle with clothes and tend to stick with buying things i know will fit.

My dd is more or less one of the boys at the same time as being a massive diva. She is no wallflower just like megiddos dd isnt!

This house has also descended into chaos. I seem to spend most of the day flitting between helping dc 1 2 and 3 with school work, occupying dc 4 and making sure dc 5 is happy fed changed rested etc. I find i am spending "breaks" trying to wash up or sort the washing out!

I am starting to wonder about a different tactic. Maybe having dc 1 and 2 doing school work half the day and then swapping for dc3 and doing things with dc 4. I'm not sure if this would make it better or worse

sc hope your dd feeling better

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/04/2020 06:07

that how long is dd1 working for and does he need much input?
Lil zoo facetime a friend and cracks on.i check in at hourly intervals,or if summoned with a muuuum holler.she does 830-3/4 typically but it is slowing to a 9-2/3 this week.i know that's more than lit schools round here.if he's not doing as much would he help with younger ones work/amuse little ones at least 20 mins twice a day would give you time to breathe?

THATscurryfungeBITCH · 30/04/2020 06:10

Dc1 needs supervising as tend to do bare minimum if left to own devices unfortunately. Think one word answers when answer space is two sides of a4. Both he and dc2 are driving me potty. Dc3 needs some help but generally much more compliant and willing to actually do the work.

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/04/2020 06:28

I'd probably tackle harder DC first then.ds hates doing anything after a year without school offering him anything whilst at home and I was so out of my depth trying do anything with him independantly...he's now doing 2 little maths revision from yearc6(he's in year 9)which takes 20 minutes
Then bit BBC stuff
Then allowed write for english.and now we have passcodes for show my homework he's to tackle anything from that on less academic subjects(art, ethics,dt,drama etc).my aim is 90 minutes of "work" fuck my life those 90 minutes are the longest of all the day tbh.he needs A LOT of input to stay on track.if I had to be chasing up the other two to comply somebody would be buried in garden....

THATscurryfungeBITCH · 30/04/2020 06:57

Believe me i have been close to digging some holes!

I have my last piece of uni work (until next academic year) to submit today and still havent finished it Sad

foxessocks · 30/04/2020 07:46

Argh just lost my post and now the kids are arguing - I'll have to try again in a bit!

It’s so hard to balance isn’t it! If it helps at all mine tend to do better with more frequent, shorter sessions rather than one long block of lessons, so they could take turns at having your attention and the others play. However we are an ADHD family so that may be why 😂

I really sympathise with those struggling to get their DCs to do work. We are going to have to Have Words with DD1 yet again - I keep finding her not having even got started. And little things like putting music on YouTube on the laptop instead of using the echo dot she has in her room Hmm yes she likes some stuff that’s not on Spotify (mixes etc) but much as she says she doesn’t look at that tab when working, I’m not convinced - each time she’s choosing a song it’s distracting, right?

I am going to say Spotify only during work time - might get her to make a study playlist later. TBH it is also getting to the point where we may need to take her phone off her sometimes, which I’m really reluctant to do as she’s missing her friends so much and I know she does get some work done with friends over FaceTime, but other subjects are getting ignored. Either that or she will have to work in the living room with DS and I think that would cause arguments! So we are going to have to come up with some solution. Confused

Can’t believe it’s May tomorrow! I was looking back through the previous thread for something yesterday and noticed we were on page SIX by April 2nd! Granted we’d started a little earlier due to finishing March but still, it’s no wonder we’ve almost half filled a second thread this month :o

Been awake since just before seven but didn’t feel awake enough to do anything, even watch something on the iPad! Must actually get up now.

I'm not washing shopping either that 🙈

It's been really odd work wise here. DS1 parents evening I'm always told he does nothing unless the teacher hovers over him but at home he's just cracked on with it. DS2 who usually gets on with his work at school is needing more input at home. DS3 has been a bit of a pain a few times and if I'm honest when he refuses to do work I just let him have a break and come back to it. He's only 5 so I can't expect him to sit and work like the others do (even though I'm usually only asking him to Colour in or something 🙄) definitely picking my battles with him at the moment. DS4 just kind of kicks around and does his own thing. DH does the hands on thing like nappy changes and stuff while I help the boys with their work. That's about as much help as I get mind apart from that he's on his phone or the Xbox 😡

They all went back to sleep thankfully so we've only just got up. Boys are having breakfast (cereal, strawberries and blueberries) and I'm going to have a quick bath and get ready and try to hurry them along so they're all dressed for PE with Joe.

Last Launch Pad of the month!

Final reminder of the zone stuff since presumably we change as normal tomorrow:

How have we all done making our beds this month? :o
