Just opening the new thread while I have a chance! All welcome here, join in with the housework chat, the keep calm corner and general ramblings about life in lockdown!
Any of us have been here a long time so we may seem cliquey but it’s never intentional - newbies and returners are always welcome.

Welcome all!

Zoo a ratio is a great idea. But pleeeeease please promise me you’ll give plenty of the chores to the zoolets too? One thing we told the caglets last week (when we were discussing the new routines and rules that I still haven’t typed up let alone implemented much 😳) was that the more they pitch in and help us, the more time we will have to do fun stuff with them.

Fatigue/joint aches definitely set in now from earlier but I’m really glad I went. It wasn’t as different as I feared. I just hid upstairs to finish watching Phantom and sorted most of the duplo, need to finish that now we’ve had dinner.

Awwww there’s a coaltit on our fence 😍 so cute

Hello lovely people! Very impressive to be into a second thread for April. Thanks for the thread leading in these difficult times Lane.

I have read this thread but not the first April one so I will just say a big hello to everyone and hand out BrewWineFlowers to anyone going through a difficult time.

Just an off topic report on The Organised Mum Method. I have to say I am loving it. I do a power hour per day as well though otherwise I cannot get everything done. Plus try to do a weekly home bleugh. So am doing a mix of things!

Working part time still. I have been redeployed to help in intensive care one day a week which is busy as I’m sure you can imagine. Absolutely huge learning curve as although I do have some experience I still have a huge amount to learn. Trying to do 15 mins of my own learning a day in true Flylady style.

So work is stressful but I am thankful that both DH and I are still being paid and get to leave the house. Home stressful just in a different kind of way. I absolutely feel that staying at home is just as big a commitment towards this effort as being at work as a key worker. In many cases it might be harder.

Safe to say we are not living the lockdown Grin. However, have managed to get DDs to do a small amount of gymnastics which is something and now have a few resources plus YouTube videos so that is good. Have a very loose timetable planned for next week and have organised my emails a bit as both schools sent out stuff plus the various clubs etc.

I am in the same boat as many of you with repeated effort to design some sort of timetable / plan! Absolutely agree with trying to get DC to help more... just struggling with the implementation of that Grin.

We did home bleugh today and DH is going to the supermarket tomorrow (or maybe me but hoping DH goes!). DD1 tidied her room today and I plan to help DD2 do hers tomorrow. Plus we need to do some gymnastics stuff.

Might try to do a bit of planning tonight; we will see.

Now going to enjoy a beer!

Waves to Toostressy. Great to hear you are ok! I can't imagine what working in ICU is like at the moment Flowers.

Good luck with the bedroom decluttering but hope you can have some well deserved rest during your days off this week too. 🍺

HungryHazelEyes · 18/04/2020 22:42

SC fortunately we don't have TV so don't watch news. Only see news type things on Facebook so know to take everything on there with a pinch of salt. It's good to see you back on here.

fluffiest I love your afternoon tea spread, it looks so lovely!

Thank you everyone for your flowers and words, I had a nice chat with mum on Skype today and she seems in good spirits.

Only thing I have done today is pulled weeds with DC in our firepit area. It looks so nice now!

lane good to hear that your shopping experience went well. I hope you can get some rest.

zoo I agree that you need to get your DC more involved to help you as you're going to wear yourself out completely.

Hello to everyone else, can't believe we are on our second thread for the month!

Evening all,

Nice to hear from you Stressy, been wondering how are you are.

Lane - well done on the town trip.

Things that annoy me - carelessness with possessions and failure to notice mess . Today, in the carelessness category I got annoyed with DH and DS. I washed our winter duvet two days ago, it came out of the machine dripping (it is a kingsize 9 tog feather so huge and heavy). I put it on the line for 48 hours, then yesterday gave it a blast in the dryer and hung it over the bannister to be sure 100% dry. I told everyone what I was doing as DH/DS hang their bath towels there. This morning I went to roll it up to put it in the loft and found they had both showered and slung their wet towels over it so it was all damp again. FFS.

Anyway, it was a nice day overall. Watched Phantom this morning, some decorating and baking, watched a bit of Oliver, a couple of hours at the allotment then made the DCs watch Brassed Off with me, they were both reluctant but did end up following it, good for them to learn a bit of social history and lovely music / poignant ending.

I have many pet peeves, one is while driving- I hate when people don't use their turn signals. At home it gets under my skin when my family doesn't notice the little things that really should get put away instead of leaving them out everywhere.

toostressy it's good to see you back!

HungryHazelEyes · 19/04/2020 04:12

We had a fun afternoon/evening. We built a blanket fort in the living room and played Boggle and UNO Attack. We just barely put it all away (9pm) and now I'm ready for a shower! Today ended up being a good day 💜

LaneBoy · 19/04/2020 06:01

Morning all. Cagletini woke at 4.30 so that’s me up for the day. She’s now on the trampette while watching Pocoyo Hmm I am eating waffles and drinking strawberry Nesquik (one of yesterday’s impulse buys Blush)

Stressy it’s so good to hear from you! Working in ICU must be incredibly tough at the best of times. I hope your non-deployment days give you some normality, and that you’re keeping well!

Nodding along with many of the listed pet peeves. The others however, well I fear you’d all hate me IRL Blush for the not putting things away type annoyances Blush:o

It’s so lovely to hear about everyone’s days on these threads, but especially at the moment :)

Today we absolutely need to get ready for the new term. We’ve done zero prep or catch up over Easter. Will regret this especially in DD1’s case (since she has no choice but to start “lessons” online again tomorrow) but no changing it now. At least they had a full break I suppose. Anyway in the interest of getting into the swing of things we need to get the house rules and routine written out and printed too. I’m going to watch an episode of something to wake up a bit and then I WILL type it up. Last minute as always!

ExpletiveDelighted · 19/04/2020 07:45

Morning all, lovely sunny day here and I'm off to work. We've moved to 7 day operation so we can fewer people in at a time and maintain social distancing. I've been WFH for 4 weeks, we thought we could manage without me on site but turns out we can't.

Fluffiest · 19/04/2020 08:04

Thanks for the compliments on our spread. Full disclosure: the actual was much less civilised than the photo would portray. Lots of having to stop DD scooping jam out of the bowl with her fingers.

I'm not planning on doing much flying today, except maybe finally start on the new flowerbed. I really need to get it done before my seedlings are ready to transplant. But other than that all we got planned is to watch our church service this morning and go for a walk this afternoon.

Hope you all have a restorative Sunday

KTCluck · 19/04/2020 08:16

DD has decided to sleep late this morning, so I’ve got caught up and found you all here. Can’t believe we are on a second thread just over half way through the month (although it has been the longest month ever).

I had so many replies to you all but by the time I’ve fully caught up most of them are buried at the back of my brain.

I do remember Fluffiest’s lovely looking afternoon tea though

Stressy lovely to hear from you and glad to hear you’re doing ok. I don’t envy you on ITU. There has been talk of us doing though the same but we are still working as normal so far so only spending minimal time there. I’m finding the PPE really uncomfortable (obviously very grateful to have it though!) but don’t have to spend extended periods of time in it. Those of you who are have my greatest admiration.

Yesterday’s ta Das:
✅ yoga
✅ downstairs dusted
✅ hoovered
✅ floors cleaned
✅ hob and benches wiped
✅ uniform washed

We enjoyed a walk via the chemist to pick up a prescription, and spent some time in the
garden. We treated ourselves to a takeaway from one of our favourite restaurants, which was expensive but absolutely delicious. We paid for Frozen 2 on Amazon prime so had a cozy movie night, although DD was tired and about half an hour before the end said she wanted to go up to bed. That’s a first! Wine and a group chat with family once she was asleep and I watched the rest of frozen

Just trying to drag myself out of bed for breakfast now. We left the takeaway containers and plates on the bench last night and I’m regretting it. Roast beef for lunch and o need to do some more washing.

KCC -

Something I’m proud of: just managing to plod on through all this. I could feel myself getting anxious, my mood going down and losing motivation house-wise but have managed to pull it back I think. Having the routine of work back helps.

Things That annoy me: so many, mostly things that DH does Grin. E.g. socks in the middle of the living room floor, no plate when he makes a quick sandwich and gets crumbs everywhere, him and DD venturing downstairs and making a mess when I’ve just finished cleaning.

Can’t remember what the other one was.

Waves to Lane, SC, Lisette, Bower, Expletive, Hazel, Willow, Chic, That, We3, Cineraria, Foxes, Zoo, Strawberry, and anyone I’ve forgotten, as well as the two lovely newbies if they are still with us (apologies, can’t scroll back to check names). Hope you all have a lovely Sunday.

KTCluck · 19/04/2020 08:20

Waves to Giveme too. So sorry, I knew I’d missed someone Flowers
