Hello all!

Thank you for joining us, please note if we seem cliquey it’s only because it’s a long running thread - everyone really is welcome!

Welcome to (probably) the most bizarre Flylady thread yet... in which we are attempting to impose/maintain some kind of order in our homes, while also many of us are adjusting to working from home and homeschooling the kids for the first time too! Not to mention the anxiety around health and accessing food!

Of course, normally the opening post would talk about banishing CHAOS - Can’t Have Anyone Over Syndrome - but now we aren’t allowed anyone over anyway :o so, let’s just try and make our homes nicer FOR US. We are spending more time than ever in them, so let’s make them really wonderful places to be, our own safe little nests for our families.

Flylady routines might just help us get through this crazy time, by giving us a little structure to work from when all else is unpredictable - but as usual there is no right or wrong here. All of us follow it only to the extent it helps us - we can take ideas and make them work for us. And the key principle is, YOU ARE NEVER BEHIND. I feel like that is even more evident now, with so many of these outside pressures and commitments suddenly gone, and frankly the days rolling into one!

This is potentially a great time to declutter. Of course, Flylady suggests 15 minutes a day - but perhaps in these unprecedented times we will all do more! But we are all busy getting into our own routines now that school is out, and work too for many, and we’ve lost a lot of the outside structure to our lives. There’s no right or wrong here, we just have to try and adapt.

Links wise, I’ll just post the launch pad, and will add reminders about zones too. If anyone has Flying questions, please ask!

Star The Keep Calm Corner Star
The lovely SC came up with the brilliant idea of the Keep Calm Corner last month - this is a daily post with things to make us happy! I figured each monthly host can make this their own, and I’m a little worried my taste in art and music would not be calming to most Blush:o so for this month, the KCC will consist of:
Star Some memes - either funny (we all need a laugh! Warning though - some will likely be unsavoury :o) or thought provoking/relaxation based. Do PM me (here or FB) if you have any you want to add!
Star A daily “ice breaker” type question - obviously answering these is entirely optional, and don’t say anything that will out you, but if you want to join in and create some extra conversations on the thread then treatment, we can all get to know each other better! Again, if you think of any questions please PM!

Thank you for settling in, and of course thank you to SC for making March such a lovely thread. Thanks And lastly, a huge thank you also to our key worker Fledglings, who are doing an incredible job of keeping things running! Thanks

It was very tasty thank you SC. Do you have flour and yeast shortages too? Hard to get either in our shops at the moment, apparently its not in short supply as such because many commercial users such as burger chains have stopped, but its all in bulk bags and not in supermarket sized packs and hard for mills to switch over. That's the only thing, you need quite a bit of flour over the course of a week to get a starter going.

Well, today's tasks need to include getting our summer duvet out of the loft, I woke up too hot about 3x last night. Out in the garden now with a cuppa, birds chirping, next to no traffic, sun shining.

It's going to be a bit weird today, this is the first Easter we have spent at home in many, many years, we always go to DFIL (100 miles away) and spend the day with the extended family. So we've never done an Easter egg hunt here. We've never done the Easter Bunny or clues, we just have a load of plastic eggs and take turns to hide and find them. We don't hide the chocolate ones.

So, chocolate. I'm very partial to Minstrels and mini eggs. Not too bothered about box type chocs but I like Celebrations as I like all the Mars brands.

KTCluck · 12/04/2020 09:08

Morning! Happy Easter fledglings.

Ta Da:
✅ DD’s quilt in WM after bed wetting incident
✅ next LOL ready to go in
✅ sausage sandwiches and Easter egg for breakfast
✅ DW emptied and breakfast things in
✅ egg hunt set up and completed in pjs (no clues here either Foxes, and pretty lazy hiding to be honest!)
✅ lamb in slow cooker

Love this morning’s memes Lane. I’m a complete chocolate fiend and there is no type I won’t eat. Thornton’s continental and any sort of truffle are my faves though. I used to love wispa mints and Cadbury’s marbles, wish they would be brought back.

That is an impressive amount of egg hunts Willow! Sounds like you’ve done some good ones too Zoo and Lane.

Fluffiest that centrepiece is gorgeous!

Can’t remember if I said this yesterday, but those hot cross buns are really impressive SC.

Waves to Bower, Chic, Expletive, Hazel, Strawberry, Cineraria, That, We3, Giveme, Lisette (good to have you back!) and Stressy if you’re reading, hope you’re well.

Plans for the day are weather dependant

Sun comes out = dressed and in the garden / out for a walk
Stays dull = lazy morning in pjs.

Having the roast as a late lunch.

Slychomping · 12/04/2020 09:41

Wow, well done everyone, I am very impressed by all the treasure hunts and clue-making going on!

We have decided on a late lunch too as dd is not up yet (hr ahead here). Also have lots of Zoom appts today with various family groups!

Wow Expletive that soda bread looks amazing! The "crumb" as Paul Hollywood says is incredible! Yes, lots of flour and yeast shortages here as people aren't visiting small bakeries as much as usual.

Sqqqueeeeee to donkey cam Zoo; thanks for heads up!

How are your glutes (sp?) this morning Willow?

Whey hey to sausage sandwiches and lazy mornings KTCluck!

Fluffiest · 12/04/2020 09:47

Happy Easter Everyone!

Givemeacall Your little one looks so snuggly there. It's funny how being ill seems to revert children back in to baby mode- all sleepy cuddles. I do hope he makes a good recovery today

Fav chocolate is the nearest chocolate! I do love lindt truffles and Cadbury's out of the fridge.

Plan for today is a very stripped back to just enjoy Easter Sunday:
🐣 get dressed (should have done this half an hour ago)
🐣 Watch our church service
🐣 lunch - no idea what though
🐣 eat Easter eggs
🐣 Go for a walk
🐣 General mooching
🐣 Fish pie for tea
🐣 Have a bath with wine and book

LaneBoy · 12/04/2020 10:01

Today is going soooo slowly! Dozed for a bit on the sofa, woke up thinking it must be at least ten, nope 9am. Woke up again it was only 9.40 🙄 but Cagletini has dozed off so I can continue, DH has gone back upstairs too.

Got the weird elbow/finger pain that is my stupid body’s usual way of saying “hahaha you’re about to have a flare up” so here’s hoping I can rest enough to make it a mild one 🤔

OP posts:
LaneBoy · 12/04/2020 10:50

Oh well. Further sleep eludes me, so I have dragged myself off the sofa (just in time for Cagletini to wake up from the floor she had fallen asleep on, zombie-walk over to said sofa and clamber onto it and instantly doze back off :o) and have finally had cereal and taken the rest of my meds.

I may try a hot bath. Really really wish I’d got round to buying Epsom salts before lockdown, and regretting not adding them to my Amazon order the other day.

Not had any chocolate yet, tried a couple of jelly beans that were hidden in plastic eggs, but don’t have my own egg this year, holding out for reduced stock :o

Hope you’re all having a good day and thinking of absent Fledglings, including Stressy of course, hope you’re well.

Expletive I forgot to say well done on EHCP! That’s huge ⭐️

foxessocks · 12/04/2020 12:19

Oh well no hot cross buns as turns out we don't have enough yeast and we need to make bread first because we've run out 🤦‍♀️

I have however made a carrot cake because we got some chocolate carrots for Easter from a very kind relative so I can decorate it with those Smile

Favourite chocolate you ask? I don't think there's any I don't like really! However Asda do a bar of caramel white chocolate which tastes like the old Caramac bars which I LOVE. Sadly I can't get to Asda at the moment because the queues have been crazy so dh has been doing the shopping at the smaller Sainsbury's where it's been more manageable. Something to look forward to though!

Dh got me a galaxy Easter egg though so I'm very happy with that. But as he has been doing all the shopping he hasn't got one from me, he didn't get himself one Confused

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 12/04/2020 12:52

Afternoon! (Just). I am full of the joys of spring today, although the glass of fizz DH presented me with half an hour ago may be contributing to that🥂.

Ta Das
♥️ Cheesecake baked and cooling
🧡 HCBs in the oven
💛 Glutes ok, thank you, SC, but coccyx extremely sore! 15 minute bike ride this morning brought to an end by increasing quantity and volume of involuntary yelps of pain as I went over bumpy bits of road!
💚 Swapped bike at gate for dog, and got him walked
💙 LOL on the line
💜 Sheep nearly cooked
🖤 Cabbage braising nicely.

Looking forward to dozing this afternoon!

LaneBoy · 12/04/2020 13:00

ta da
💜hot bath, which did help with the pain
💚shaved legs - it’s a shorts sort of day 😂
💙watched almost half of Jesus Christ Superstar while in said bath
🧡spirit renewal and family fun - played a game from our shelf of shame (Ramen Fury) with DS

Should have some kind of lunch really.

Ooh I loved that Turkish delight one too, I didn’t realise it was discontinued! The Fry’s ones are ok but not as much chocolate!

I used to love caramac too.

Going to look up marbles and wispa mint now 😁

My fave truffle from the Continental box is the alpini one and the Viennese :) yummmm

Damn now I want chocolate

Turkish delight is revolting

🤮

ExpletiveDelighted · 12/04/2020 15:31

I like traditional Turkish Delight with icing sugar on but not the chocolate sort, I don't think the flavours go together.

I'm halfway through Jesus Christ Superstar, never seen it before, not sure what I think so far, it's ok.

THATscurryfungeBITCH · 12/04/2020 15:50

The man child is pissing me right off.

Help.

Who has a shovel?

ExpletiveDelighted · 12/04/2020 15:52

I'm in the garden

LaneBoy · 12/04/2020 15:55

Just finished watching JCS. Glad I saw it, not my usual style but the cast were great and I absolutely fucking love Tim Minchin :o

LaneBoy · 12/04/2020 15:57

Bonus meme.

I still didn’t make it on the walk. DD1 refused too as she went to help DH with the shopping yesterday. Think I’ll go and sit in the sun for a bit now - it was too hot earlier.

I'm so bad at cake decorating Blush I am just not artistic at all but the kids thought it was funny and hopefully it will taste good!

That one of our archery arrows has a point instead of the sticky pad thing if that helps... 😇

The cakes look great! We have a crappy cheap Swiss roll to eat later. This week is unlikely to see weight loss. :o

Park was rammed with sunbathers and people fishing today apparently 🙄 my lot just did the usual lap of the lake.
