Hello all!

Thank you for joining us, please note if we seem cliquey it’s only because it’s a long running thread - everyone really is welcome!

Welcome to (probably) the most bizarre Flylady thread yet... in which we are attempting to impose/maintain some kind of order in our homes, while also many of us are adjusting to working from home and homeschooling the kids for the first time too! Not to mention the anxiety around health and accessing food!

Of course, normally the opening post would talk about banishing CHAOS - Can’t Have Anyone Over Syndrome - but now we aren’t allowed anyone over anyway :o so, let’s just try and make our homes nicer FOR US. We are spending more time than ever in them, so let’s make them really wonderful places to be, our own safe little nests for our families.

Flylady routines might just help us get through this crazy time, by giving us a little structure to work from when all else is unpredictable - but as usual there is no right or wrong here. All of us follow it only to the extent it helps us - we can take ideas and make them work for us. And the key principle is, YOU ARE NEVER BEHIND. I feel like that is even more evident now, with so many of these outside pressures and commitments suddenly gone, and frankly the days rolling into one!

This is potentially a great time to declutter. Of course, Flylady suggests 15 minutes a day - but perhaps in these unprecedented times we will all do more! But we are all busy getting into our own routines now that school is out, and work too for many, and we’ve lost a lot of the outside structure to our lives. There’s no right or wrong here, we just have to try and adapt.

Links wise, I’ll just post the launch pad, and will add reminders about zones too. If anyone has Flying questions, please ask!

Star The Keep Calm Corner Star
The lovely SC came up with the brilliant idea of the Keep Calm Corner last month - this is a daily post with things to make us happy! I figured each monthly host can make this their own, and I’m a little worried my taste in art and music would not be calming to most Blush:o so for this month, the KCC will consist of:
Star Some memes - either funny (we all need a laugh! Warning though - some will likely be unsavoury :o) or thought provoking/relaxation based. Do PM me (here or FB) if you have any you want to add!
Star A daily “ice breaker” type question - obviously answering these is entirely optional, and don’t say anything that will out you, but if you want to join in and create some extra conversations on the thread then treatment, we can all get to know each other better! Again, if you think of any questions please PM!

Thank you for settling in, and of course thank you to SC for making March such a lovely thread. Thanks And lastly, a huge thank you also to our key worker Fledglings, who are doing an incredible job of keeping things running! Thanks

give he's adorable! Poor thing, I hope he feels better soon.

💗 S&S done.

💜 Glass/ mirrors cleaned throughout house.

❤ Hard boiled eggs ready for decorating.

Not much else done here today. We will be decorating our eggs later. I did soak my feet in the bath and got rid of the dry skin on them. They're feeling much better now. It's very windy outside today so I'm avoiding going out.

I am glad I'm not the only one who struggles with weight, although I really wish none of us had to worry about it.

I can't think of any injuries in particular that were embarrassing, although I do also seem to trip up stairs and fall over my own feet, especially when it's icy outside. I also run into doorways a lot.

Slychomping · 11/04/2020 22:29

OOh thank you Lane as I couldn't find it on Youtube right now! Tired though so will watch it tomorrow, much appreciated!!

I have uploaded some photos of myself with guests at Carnaval today Hazel and I am appalled at how huge I look in them Blush. Starting back on proper diet with KTCluck on Tuesday! Moritorium over Easter Confused Wink

Bower have you heard Bob D's latest number one? Very, er, interesting ... . Bit of a dirge and lots of violin (unusually for him) all about the assasination of JFK. Almost like he is writing it in case he doesn't survive Corona ... like its his last farewell perhaps... many, many song/film/other refs spanning five decades? Interesting lyrics (as ever). I suppose JFK's assasination and Clovid-19 are both two hugely world-changing events. Song is 17 mins long!!!!

Cripes about your electrocution, you are lucky to be here to tell the tale!!! Shock And all the teaching injuries. Shock re: broken wrist being deliberately inflicted Sad

Sleep well Giveme

Great list Willow Star and top marks for proper off-road cycling!

Zoo hope dd2 ok!

G'night all!

Slychomping · 11/04/2020 22:32

Final ta da:
spun all the towels and sheets and put in td to come on early tomorrow
put spare sofa covers on to wash
found silver cleaner for morning
did a bit more of gratitude wheel with dd but didn't finish it
emptied dw again
tidied up kitchen again

LaneBoy · 11/04/2020 22:45

So glad DD1 wants to help make the treasure hunt clues. She and DH are getting on with it and I just drew some picture ones for Cagletini.

There was a BGT act with five dachshunds! They were very cute.

Happy Easter 🐰🐰🐣🐣🐣🐣
Sorry, fell off thread and abandoned flying. All well here.

HungryHazelEyes · 11/04/2020 23:23

lane thank you, I think I needed to see that meme about the rest. DH is always telling me to just go sit down, but I have a hard time doing that when I know there are things to be done around the house. I often feel like I don't deserve it.

we3 I hope your MIL is on the mend soon.

zoo DD1 sounds like a star, I'm glad you have someone who will take care of you.

SC I hope your vertigo lessens and you're back to normal very soon.

I can't remember what everyone else has talked about but hello to expletive bower KT willow and everyone else I have forgotten.

HungryHazelEyes · 11/04/2020 23:26

foxes I can't wait to see how your hot cross buns turn out, I do love experimenting with cooking and baking sometimes.

fluffiest I love your bouquet!

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 12/04/2020 00:00

Waves to Hazel, I don't often catch you in here as it's way past my bedtime right now !

Easter hunts written and clues hidden. Have calculated these are number 53-56 due to ages of children and when we began etc! (Shriek!).

Definitely going to bed!

ExpletiveDelighted · 12/04/2020 00:02

Evening all .

Tada!
Sweep kitchen floor
2xLOL
Finished EHCP and sent back
Backed up last two months photos
Potted on seedlings with DS
Made my first sourdough loaf
Decluttered and cleaned food cupboards - hardly threw anything away but what a difference a good tidy up makes. I found I had a few duplicates of spices but was able to double up as all were half used. I chucked away a sachet of Ainsley Harriot fancy flavour couscous mix which was several years out of date and really was never going to get used. Cleaned doors as well as shelves.

I need to stop baking! I am overweight and all this isn't helping. It's so nice doing it when there is no time pressure though.

LaneBoy · 12/04/2020 00:11

That’s the one thing that makes me glad I’m shit at baking TBH. I would be consuming soooo many more calories right now if I could make a decent chocolate cake 😳 but I am beyond crap.

I just ask DH to buy the occasional cake instead 😂🤦‍♀️

Had my first takeaway of the lockdown tonight. Didn’t enjoy it despite having what I usually have from there - think my tastes are changing.

DH doing the last of the clues for DD1 now.

HungryHazelEyes · 12/04/2020 03:44

willow I agree that it's hard for me to be a part of anything on here with the time zone, I'm usually well behind everyone by the time I wake up in the morning! That's a lot of clues to do, I'm glad I never started doing that, we just make sure the kids aren't looking outside when we hide the eggs!

We watched Beauty and the Beast tonight and just got done with decorating our Easter eggs. Pretty much given up on cooking any dinner tonight so it's a fend for yourself kind of night!

LaneBoy · 12/04/2020 05:22

We are glad to have you hazel even if your posts come at a different time to ours!

For some reason Cagletini was awake before 5 Hmm we are now watching Baconface and I’m contemplating some ridiculously sugary cereal and the rest of the Dr Pepper HmmConfused I’m not too keen on the leftover egg hunt stash luckily or I’d probably be breaking into that :o

Anyway. Happy Easter everyone.

🐣🐰🥚🍫 the keep calm corner 🍫🥚🐰🐣

(No links, it’s Easter, no Flying needed! Except renewing your spirit! With chocolate :o)

Today’s uploads are three Easter related memes (surprising lack of these Hmm)

Today’s question, for obvious reasons, is: What is your favourite kind of chocolate? Are there any types you fondly remember from the past?

I will eat pretty much anything :o although I try and stick to what I really like rather than wasting calories on anything. :o if I crave something though it’s usually Snickers or Maltesers! One thing I reeeeally love is Green and Blacks milk chocolate with sea salt. It really works! And I’m supposed to keep my salt intake up due to PoTS, so it’s basically medicinal.

Past chocolate - when I was still in primary school we would often go to Thornton’s and I’d always choose a Muddy Pig. They were this flat rectangular bar, with “oink” written in pink, and they were strawberry flavour. I was gutted they don’t make them anymore!

Morning that

DD1 tired and grumpy as DH’s clues (I generally do it but SOOOO sleepy last night) took waaaay too many leaps and her brain just doesn’t work that way. She quietly agreed my clues are much better :o I normally do things like codebreaking, questions based on stuff they’ve learned etc. But they’re much more structured so the actual location answer is simple IYSWIM. She enjoyed helping come up with DS’ clues but I feel a bit guilty it wasn’t as fun as normal especially when life is so restricted. :( I might try and do something like that for her birthday instead (I also like the idea I saw of FaceTiming relatives to get clues, if we are still on lockdown).

I need a nap 😑😑😑

Lisette1940 · 12/04/2020 07:24

I particularly like the dust bunnies 😆

THATscurryfungeBITCH · 12/04/2020 07:40

Also loving the dust bunnies

All dc are now up. Some chocolate has been consumed.

Slychomping · 12/04/2020 08:04

Morning all!

Happy Easter everyone!

I like the half-eaten bunny meme best

Lovely to have you back Lisette!

Great list and fantastic you finished the ECHP Expletive Star despite it being such an ordeal!

Bunny ear waves to everyone else! 🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰

Chocolate: not that keen (despite living where I do!). Prefer Swiss to Belgian (less rich). Used to like: Caramac. If I am going to eat it now: one Leonidas Manon.

Off to peel carrots...

Stilllivinginazoo · 12/04/2020 08:06

Clues written.bit worried they go be too hard for D's but I am out ideas on super simples..I've included many many more too to keep it going longer as we can't roam neighbourhood like last year hunting down where I stuck them(under bus stop seat,in church garden etc)no signs life here yet,I may wake them soon so not too bouncy when I'm exhausted later!!

Loving all the things in KCC lane

Chocolate answers. Used to be a chocolate slut-anything would do!!childhood memories were white chocolate bars and fingers of fudge/curlywurly.dd1 I developed a love strawberry choc buttons at Thornton's(also discontinued).pregnancy cravings were bournville dd1,maltesers /crunchies other 3!up until 12 months ago I ate huge volumes and relished Xmas time eating tubs quality street/heroes/celebrations.i got thru one every 2-3 days!Blushsadly I now don't find my gut likes it anymore(hated milk as kid and cheese made me sick,so guessing I not really tolerant for dairy again)I eat dark chocolate now in small quantities(g+b with ginger is good) tbh I even eat a little lil zoo df bars if I'm desperate(Sainsbury's being best price to flavour imo)can't think other brand I used get from wholefood co operative(expensive but all fairtrade etc) it was studded banana chips and hazelnuts😋😋😋😋

Must stop,I can talk chocolate FOREVER🤣🤣🤣🤣

Slychomping · 12/04/2020 08:07

How was the sourdough loaf Expletive btw? I'm tempted to try making one ...

foxessocks · 12/04/2020 08:14

Morning and happy Easter! Managed to get a bit of toast in the kids before they started eating eggs Smile

We are also going to do an egg hunt later, my mum and dad usually do it for them but obviously can't do that so will take some photos or video for them to see the kids. Ours won't have clues though we're too lazy for that 😂

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 12/04/2020 08:47

Loving the cartoons, Lane. Sorry that DD found the hunt less fun - it could also be that she's growing up, although we still (don't) speak in hushed tones of the year I tried actual riddles and DD couldn't think round the right corners (undiagnosed-then ASD. D'oh). It was awful.

Morning that, zoo, hazel, Lisette, Sly, Expletive and everyone else up early to do Easter Hunts / church. Happy Easter!

🙋 to We3, Bower, Chic, give, foxes, KT and everyone else!

Ds3 was up at 6am and I managed to hold him off until 8 when we winkled all the others out of bed. Egg hunts are now done and DS3 and DD have swapped eggs!

Ta Das before egg hunts

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 12/04/2020 08:52

Ooh, chocolate questions. Dairy Milk hits a particular spot, as do snickers, but I loved Bournville as a child (my DM uses to let me have a single square of hers as a special treat) and as I get older, like with coffee, I like my chocolate stronger and stronger. The sweetest I do now is Green & Black's 75%, but I really prefer over 80% cocoa bars.

One year for Easter DH bought me 95% cocoa chili chocolate, which was amazing but needed eating in tiny, tiny nibbles and was like an instant shot in the arm of pure caffeine 🤪🤯!
