Oh Foxes 💕💕 you have SO much to be proud of (a) you sound like such a lovely, kind person and (b) you are a stunning cook (c) you are a great mother and you and your DH sound like a great team and you are giving your two such a lovely home life (and that always involves a fair degree of effort and daily commitment; it doesn't happen by accident!). There are a thousand tasks you do every day as a parent that are never quantified or acknowledged! You are doing a great job! Be proud! 🏆.
That goes for you too Giveme happiness shines out of your two boys on the photos you've posted and that is a huge testament to your love and to your efforts!
Same with Celeste (gorgeous name) Zoo - that is such a lovely photo you posted - I'm so glad she had a good birthday despite current circs (and her dad's negligent behaviour
- can't believe he didn't contact her on her birthday [anger]) and YOU achieved that for her!
Continuing with photos ..same for Lane and Cagletini's total absorption in puzzles!
...
...In fact from what is written here, you can tell all of you fledglings on this thread are such dedicated parents, interested in your DC as individuals, regularly moving mountains on their behalves, so well done people and BE PROUD!
There endeth today's lesson ...
It's funny though - having said all of that Foxes - I know how you feel and snap X 1000 because I was just about to come on here and say almost exactly the same thing .. "sorry I have been AWOL, went in to family "holiday" mode over Easter, went rather too sloth-like
then in response made myself ridiculously over-ambitious post-Easter schedule which I have failed to stick to (you'd think I'd know better at my age and after being on this thread for so long!
). Now struggling to get motivated, and I genuinely can't think of anything I am much proud of about myself ATM as I seem to be (generally; not specifically in lock down) in the middle of a middle-aged slump where I am waiting to start a new life/new enterprise in the country but there's still so much stuff to be done here and I am a walking middle-aged cliché ATM: overweight, aching joints, dull brain, struggling as wife and parent to a degree, lacking confidence doing things I wouldn't have thought twice about 15 years ago!
One small proud achievement I suppose recently was passing the French language exam needed for my nationality dossier at a higher level than necessary. But as my French (or Dutch for that matter) is still not at the level it should be having lived here for so long, I am not sure that counts!
Also, I suppose I am proud I have kept driving here, on the "wrong" side of the road, when I am terrified and it hasn't got easier as they drive like maniacs (wierdly, when they are generally very pragmatic and sensible and polite people normally) and I still find priorité de droite scary as f* but again , DH MADE me keep driving, so I am not sure I can claim that for myself either.
Magical place: I love Santa Barbara . Lake District X 5 to the right (Santa Ynez mountains) Pacific ocean to the left, and Nordstrom in the middle!
Dh and I once sat on the beach eating breakfast while a humming bird darted about among the flowers ... beautiful!
So many magical moments ..
One evening driving with DH-to-be in glorious Suffolk countryside - spending a moment away from frantic wedding prep - turned a corner, golden sun was low in vast sky, hay fields all around, to see a farmer with shire horse pulling a wagon of hay, just like something Constable would have painted 175 yrs ago! Inspired me to have my own one day ...hence dhorse (albeit he's a smaller version but still heavy set!). One day he WILL be pulling wood even though his training has been delayed now for another year ... .
Another magical moment on honeymoon - one of the islands off Thailand - wading in the completely clear and very warm shallow sea, tropical fish, and me and she staying there (when everyone else rushed in) as the daily monsoon raged above! Odd but beautiful!
And years ago, with my family, tucked in to a mossy overhang, on a narrow sheep path on the side of a Scottish mountain on the signal of a ghillie who signalled urgently "down" and "quiet" as a stag ran down the mountain and in effect, leapt over us as he descended.
So many others, hacking out in Scottish, Northumberland or Cumbrian countryside ...seeing wild animals you would never see on foot.
Lovely to think of all these magical moments - esp under current circs - so thanks for the prompt Lane!
Heigh ho! Back to reality ...
DD is starting back on 4 hrs streamed school lessons a day from Monday, so we are in the middle of a family cleaning/organisation weekend to put everyone back in a "doing" frame of mind. Education authorities still haven't taken a decision about end of year exams (the rigorous, horrible, stressful ones that ensure your passage to the following year) which I think is quite difficult for the pupils.
Garden centres and DIY shops will be opening again here shortly. And they are going to be making a decision about schools some time in May! That's all we know really. But it's unlikely that school will be the same anyway as youngest pupils will be going back first, then small groups are being talked about, not whole classes, on different days. How that will be managed (practically) I do not know!
Very much each to their own but I will definitely be sending DD back I think. There is a potential risk there as DD and DH and I are the wrong side of mid-fifties and overweight and I have a slightly eccentric heatbeat which is managed by meds (and I am A neg if that is significant). BUT I personally don't think it is good for DD's health (physically or mentally) to be spending too much more time at home (especially as an only) but also as a sixteen year old, I think you need your friends around you and not just two portly , older parents! Plus it's an important year for her at school, academically speaking.
Also, as I understand it, lockdown is about containment not prevention, because most of us will eventually get this virus, it's just a question of when. And they are saying here that - depending on how things pan out - it is possible that they may have to close some things down again, having opened up , and do that several times, depending on transmission stats. And hopefully not, but this could potentially go on for two years
. So in that case, you have to step back in at some point ifyswim... . Although we have been struck very badly here as , owing to the small size of the place, the world and his wife travelled outside the country for Carnival holiday - skiing or seeing family. Then they all came back at the same time and infected the country in eleven places simultaneously.
Each to their own though but I think I trust the scientists running our daily briefings here (few politicians involved thankfully). It is strange how intensely politicised health care is in UK; this definitely hits home switching between the different news bulletins one after the other.
Hazel I imagine you also have strong feelings watching the news in the USA currently too?
Sorry have only caught up half way with thread but hope everyone is ok? Must get back to chording but 🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋 to all fledglings!
And to Bower's new black hen!
