Welcome to February! This is a friendly ongoing thread where we follow (n some cases, very loosely) the Flylady method for sorting out our homes and lives!

Newbies are always welcome here! It’s a long running thread so please don’t worry if we appear cliquey. There’s a lot of chatter and support for all sorts of things, alongside the housework stuff.

Every day I will post a link to the Flylady launch pad, which is where you can access the information for that day - babysteps, missions, daily focus etc. But if you’re confused about anything, please ask!

Check out the website too - but we suggest not signing up for the millions of emails.

The great thing about Flylady is that you jump in where you are. Everything you do is progress. Don’t worry about not “keeping up”. Any achievement, however small, means progress.

More info to follow.

I'm North East too KT. Well done on that list!

My ta-da's for today
✔️ S&S
✔️ 2 x LOL
✔️ lots of ironing
✔️ bathed, dressed, hair blow dried and a bit of make up
✔️ went to assembly at school because DS3 was up for an award
✔️ college
✔️ more ironing
✔️ made dinner
✔️ dishes
✔️ made lunches for tomorrow
✔️ make up off, moisturised and pj's on

I was contemplating doing some more of my biology assignment but I think I'm going to stick a face mask on and watch some Netflix instead

We3kingsoforientareandabump · 10/02/2020 19:56

Oh and I finally got the beds made

LaneBoy · 10/02/2020 19:57

Thanks owl :)
Willow hope you feel better now? DS (who does sound quite similar to your DS3 in many ways) has really benefited from martial arts.
Zoo sorry about the useless CAMHS appt sadly they are so stretched in many areas that even if she had been self harming/suicidal they wouldn’t necessarily help. It’s really quite scary.
We3 love that meme.

I only managed to sleep a very short time but lay in the dark with music on for ages. Had to come down now as DH is out at the quiz night.

ChicCroissant · 10/02/2020 20:00

Welcome Owl, good to have you with us.

Lane well done for speaking the total truth to the support worker - I know it's easier said than done. Sorry to hear about the dizziness today, although I do wonder if you've found the cause with the meds.

Sorry to hear that the appointment wasn't helpful today zoo. Can you let your support worker know? Do they have any influence at all

Not much flying here today, I've been out most of the day and then had to ferry DD to her activity tonight. Must make an effort to pay some bills tonight as well online.

Better get on, will try and get back later.

foxessocks · 10/02/2020 20:12

Sorry went awol for a bit, I've got such a horrible cough / cold, I'm struggling to get anything done beyond getting the dc to school and nursery, work and keeping everyone fed. I can't sleep because I'm just coughing all the time so I'm totally exhausted!

Hope everyone was ok during the storm, haven't read all the way back so sorry if I've missed anything.

Tinselette1940 · 10/02/2020 20:23

Hungryhazeleyes could you sleep in separate rooms to prevent infection? During the chest infection that I had, dh caught a cold and he slept in another room. Your poor husband though with influenza b.

Zoo 💐 take care of yourself.

Tinselette1940 · 10/02/2020 20:24

I find Trevor extra strong mints good for a cough. Won't cure it but stops the tickle Foxes

Tinselette1940 · 10/02/2020 20:25

Trebor - darn autocorrect

LaneBoy · 10/02/2020 20:39

Sorry you’re not well foxes
Yikes hazel that sounds rotten, hope you can avoid it!

I’ve not done any of the course prep yet.

Prep keeps autocorrecting to Oreo, what does that say about me :o

LaneBoy · 10/02/2020 20:40

Really interesting about the trebor mints tinselette I must add that to my cough and cold armoury!

foxessocks · 10/02/2020 22:01

Thanks tinselette I'll try anything!!
The tickle in my throat is bloody awful I've never had a cough like it! I've tried gargling salt water, throat sweets, green tea, whiskey, honey tea... nothing has helped! I've actually coughed so much I've been sick a few times the last few days, my eyes are streaming, feel like I can't catch my breath.

Sorry didn't mean to come back on the thread just to moan Blush

Sorry about others being poorly, or poorly dh hazel sorry haven't caught up. Hope he is ok.

Tinselette1940 · 10/02/2020 22:30

Sounds like post nasal drip. Very irritating. Hope the mints help.

LaneBoy · 10/02/2020 22:36

This has got absolutely zero to do with flying but it made me laugh so I’m sharing it anyway

LaneBoy · 10/02/2020 22:37

Attaching it would help!

Tinselette1940 · 10/02/2020 22:37

Post away Lane!

Tinselette1940 · 10/02/2020 22:39

Ha ha! She was so thoughtful though..

LaneBoy · 10/02/2020 22:51

:o I started a post on a group asking for ridiculous memes. That was my favourite :o

✅soup is now in the fridge so the rest can be eaten tomorrow
✅bit more reading of Solihull stuff
✅future friend - Cagletini’s and my clothes ready

ExpletiveDelighted · 10/02/2020 23:09

Oh FFS, just wrote a long post and lost it. Never mind. Welcome to Dayowl, just jump in, ask if you don't understand anything, we have a habit of making up acronyms for some of the household chores.

Sorry to hear you’re unwell fox

Thank you expletive

Love the meme lane😂

ChicCroissant · 11/02/2020 00:37

foxes bad coughs are absolutely exhausting, take it as easy as you can. Once a coughing fit starts there is nothing you can do to stop it (I think it makes it worse if you try tbh), I like the herbal cough medicine Broncho Stop or the herbal cough drops/sweets made by Ricola (these can be harder to find though).

I'm off to bed, catch you tomorrow ladies!

Bowerbird5 · 11/02/2020 00:45

Thanks Willow and Hazel. we are lucky as we live at the top of the hill. The river at the bottom of the hill burst it's banks and was over several fields turned them into lakes and the other was raging yesterday. I haven't walked down today. The road was ok to the A road but not the other way. It is flooded in front of the school but not as bad as Sunday.Under the bridge is still flooded and the police have closed it.There is a car stuck in it too. So we can't get out that way. It is just passable past the school. I don't know about up the hill and south. There are four ways into the village but only one way definitely out at the moment. i stayed in and baked this afternoon.I went to quiz tonight and we won. YeaH!Grin It is forecast snow. We've had hail and half the village was off yesterday but all on today.Electric.

TA DAS
I baked two banana loafs. One with walnut, one not.
I cleaned some of the boudoir.I don't have to do the bathroom because there is nothing in it except soap and toothbrushes. The floor has been boarded out ready for new floor tiles.
I folded the washing. Did LOL and made casserole this morning in slow cooker.MMM.

Foxes so sorry to hear you are poorly it sounds awful and very like BF before Xmas. Especially the coughing.

Welcome Owl My house is a tip too. Bits of it are tidy and bits are awful. It's clean though well most of it except for dust. The kitchen and bathroom are usually clean.

Zoo If only I were nearer and I could have him. Sorry it was awful meeting.

Right I best get to bed. Cherry waves to all.

Bowerbird5 · 11/02/2020 00:47

Decluttering was done. I took everything out of the bathroom. Grin

Stilllivinginazoo · 11/02/2020 06:32

foxes our dear friend hills swore by jelly cubes dissolved in a little hot water for sore throats as it acts as a coating ...maybe that's worth a try?I was only saying the other day no one's had a bad cough here in ages

foxessocks · 11/02/2020 06:55

Thanks everyone, I'm going to try all these tips , I forgot about the jelly one zoo! And chic you're so right about trying to stop a coughing fit.

Had a slightly better night last night, didn't wake as much and didn't have to get up for more water which is a good sign!
