Fledglings flying into the Roaring Twenties! January 2020 Flylady thread, all welcome.

Welcome to the first Flylady thread of the decade! This is a friendly ongoing thread where we follow (loosely. In some cases, very loosely. Blush) the Flylady method for sorting out our homes and lives!

Newbies are always welcome here! It’s a long running thread so please don’t worry if we appear cliquey. There’s a lot of chatter and support for all sorts of things, alongside the housework stuff.

Over recent months we have agreed that big lists of daily links aren’t necessary - on a daily basis I will post (if I remember... it is maybe 18 months since I last hosted so please forgive any screw ups Blush) a link to the launch pad, which is where you can access the information for that day - babysteps, missions, daily focus etc. But if you’re confused about anything, please ask!

Check out the website too - but we suggest not signing up for the millions of emails.

Information on getting started here.

The great thing about Flylady is that you jump in where you are. Everything you do is progress. Don’t worry about not “keeping up”. Any achievement, however small, means progress.

Anyway, huge thank you to Stressy for running our very busy December thread! Thanks

And... HAPPY NEW YEAR FLEDGLINGS!!!

Hello all, just dashing in and out to send 🍒🍒🍒👋👋 👋👋 to all!
Loads going on here (nothing heavy - well apart from one slightly worrying thing - just loads of different small urgent things that add up)! Anyway dashing off for a bit!

Have a good weekend fledglings! Hope all of you (and DC) who are feeling ill, recover quickly, and the menchildren behave themselves!

Strategicchoring · 17/01/2020 12:38

PS Happy to thread lead in March! Would rather not do Feb because taking on new role then.

Waves to Toostressy!

Forgot to say "well done" to your ds Lane for his distinction! Hats off to him!

cbeebiessavedmylife · 17/01/2020 14:36

We’ve just got back from the walk in, DD has a water infection bless her. I feel awful but she’s potty trained and goes to the toilet on her own so I didn’t notice any smell and she didn’t complain of pain or anything. She’s on some antibiotics now, but thankfully it’s the weekend so I don’t need to drag her out the house for the school run. DM is coming over with some treats and to occupy the others so she gets some rest. UTI’s are rife in my family, me and DM had them repeatedly from when we were about 2 for all our lives so I’m hoping she doesn’t follow us. Thanks for all the well wishes❤️.

On the cleaning front, mum will take the other 3 out to the park and I’ll get the washing done as I haven’t even touched it. Then I’ll get cracking on tidying up from this morning and I’ll scrub the bath down. Dinner for tonight will be a chippy so I don’t have to worry about cooking. Hope you’re all having a good day!.

foxessocks · 17/01/2020 14:36

Totally behind on the thread sorry! Haven't caught up. It's been a bit of a hard week the dc have been wearing me out and I'm all over the place!

A few ta das today though
Started looking at Airbnb for a few upcoming trips
Toddler group
Washing hung up and more on (which I need to hang up actually...)
Dishwasher on (which I need to empty Hmm)
Meal plan and online food shop
Shopping list for tomorrow
Planned dinner tonight - Spanish omelette to use up lots of stuff
Played board games with ds
Attempted some work but computer was not cooperating so gave up on that
Wiped bathroom and cleaned toilet
Put lots of washing away
Tidied toys
Took loads of rubbish out

Think that's all. How's everyone doing this afternoon? Friday feeling?

foxessocks · 17/01/2020 14:38

cbeebies my dd has had lots of UTIs too (she's only 5) , they referred her for a scan when she was 3 but there were no issues found. I used to get them a lot when I was younger too. Hope your dd feels better soon.

We3kingsoforientareandabump · 17/01/2020 14:47

Hope the antibiotics have your DD feeling better soon CBeebies.

I need to name change as well and get rid of the Xmas themed one.

This afternoon I have tidied downstairs.
Swept the floors as couldn't be bothered dragging the hoover out then the little fella poured a load of washing powder everywhere so I had to get it out anyway 🙄
Meal plan and shopping list done
Finished prepping dinner
Bit of ironing
Just took little one out for a walk in the Pram as he wasn't having napping at home. He fell asleep pretty quickly so now I'm just hanging around waiting to do the school run.

Will go and do the big shop while eldest two are at cubs later as Lidl is right next door to the community centre where cubs is held.

  • dog walk ☑️
  • rotate DW ☑️ (does it still count? Forgot to run it last night, so set it going at 8am)
  • empty now clean DW ☑️
  • LOL☑️
- set up homework (art and science, I think ☑️ - take DS3 for new boots - not restricted to black because he's not in school! Hooray! Will try Clarks first (see below). ☑️ - order DS3 new trainers (only one type of Asics fit his feet, so that's what he will have, one size up) ☑️
  • enquire of DD how well her boots fit (trying to avoid 50 mile round trip to specialist hypermobility shoe shop. They're great and really know their stuff, but it takes at least 2.5 hours and usually costs me a Costa as well, to get over the shock of the cost of the shoes!). ☑️ Her boots are fine!
- ring podiatrist about DS2's orthotics suddenly causing blisters no need it was his old shoes causing it, now fixed. - more financial planning (sure we're not actually buggered, just need to move things around and cut some of the "nice to have"s ☹️) ☑️ - finally email client with research from earlier in the week.
  • fakeaway burgers for tea.☑️ Waiting in the fridge.
Stilllivinginazoo · 17/01/2020 17:17

CB bless her, hope she's feeling better soon.you probably heard this already but when dd2 was diagnosed overactive bladder blackcurrant can irritate things dreadfully, incl UTI issues.hurrah for your mum helping out and taking the other three out to let off some steam!
Willow having to give up "nice things" can take the fun out if living.hope you get to hold on to a few.x
Foxes nice list!
We3 that's handy you can shop whilst they're at cubs

Tada
Shined sink and drainer to match the shiny taps in kitchen
Finished clearing table
Tidy front room
But away pile stuff mounting up in front room and pile in hall that's been waiting to go upstairs for 4bloody days

LaneBoy · 17/01/2020 19:45

Ugh sorry about the UTI :(

Stressy it’s an official ceremony when they do the gradings, lots of (mostly) men in suits judging etc! But he has always been ok with that strangely. It’s in the same hall as the lesson and the coach preps them well etc. I would definitely find it stressful myself!

Managed to catch up with you all while having a nice relaxing bath with a glass of wine. I was interrupted mid-post as it was my turn for bedtime and have therefore lost the post and forgotten most of my replies to you all. Sorry!

That Angry at manchild, Wine for you. It drives me and when DH just does his own thing while I'm sorting myself and DD and our whole lives, but he's never been stupid enough to comment that I haven't been doing it all to his standard! Is he now under your patio?

Hope DD is better soon CBeebies

After two busy work days I've just about managed to keep the laundry and dishes ticking over plus the house is reasonably tidy ready for a quick housework blitz in the morning, then hopefully some quality family time over the weekend.

There's been a lot going on at work on top of my new project. I've got a few days away for a course coming up, some exciting opportunities to get involved in a couple of new areas, and also the possibility of promotion (undecided whether to go for it or not yet as it may mean having to change my hours which currently work well). I'm determined to keep on top of the house but also have some downtime, as I'm much more productive and motivated at work when I'm sorted elsewhere. It's amazing how much the state of my home impacts my mental wellbeing!

Hope you all.have a lovely weekend

We3kingsoforientareandabump · 17/01/2020 21:39

Last few ta-da's of the day
Dinner
Dishes and clean up after
Shopping done and put away
Dc all in bed

Now watching White House farm and trying not to fall asleep.

Got a letter from school to say that they have upgraded the text messaging system and now both parents will get all texts so dh will have no excuse to not know who needs what when and needs to be where when hopefully taking some of the mental load 👍

Bowerbird5 · 17/01/2020 23:50

B’stard refresh!

Had nearly finished posts to people and nothing, no reason for lost posts🤬🤯

Sorry can’t do again.

After all the good shopping I did yesterday delighted DS1 took half home because I am too ill to cook. I have had stomach / bowel pain for a few days to be honest has niggled on and off all month. I haven’t got a temperature so I think it unlikely but may be flare up of serious bowel condition which requires antibiotics. Ummed and arred whether to ring this afternoon and then didn’t.
Think I might regret this.
Had bit of scrambled egg for tea. Had a doughnut for lunch...I know I know. Couldn’t be bothered, no one here. Also bland. Had bran flakes and fruit for breakfast. Yesterday was looking forward to making fish pie but DS1 took it instead and the lamb.
I ve had abdominal pain all bloody day. Taken paracetamol. Now taken 2 co codamol to try and get some sleep. DH said this morning I looked awful. Very pale. I don’t want to be ill. Hope those of you that have been ill feel better soon. Post!

Bowerbird5 · 17/01/2020 23:52

We 3👍

LaneBoy · 17/01/2020 23:56

ta da
✅printed a load of maths for next week (including some for DD)
✅started planning a home ed project, it’s a big one and a bit daunting
✅looked up the weird bulb type as DH can look in Wilko tomorrow (it’s a four pin, I’ve never seen that before)
✅sneezed more

Going to put a DVD on, take painkillers, write journal, gargle horrible stuff to try and make my throat less yuck, and then SLEEP I hope.

Sorry for all the general crapness, dickish partners and illness on the thread!

Grin ty zoo

Things still not good here. He kept being arsey and ignoring me so i went to bed at 10ish and he stayed up til the early hours. Im now up with dcs 3 and 5.

My plan for doing a bedroom a day this week went to pot but i did do 2 of the 5 rooms so better than nothing.

Stilllivinginazoo · 18/01/2020 08:07

Considering all plate you have spinningthat I'd take 2/5 as a win!
I'm happy to come help dig the hole and provide alibi stillWink

LaneBoy · 18/01/2020 10:15

Ooh that’s interesting zoo this one seems fine to replace (and normally I don’t think HA would have anything to do with the lights?) but the bathroom mirror strip light thing isn’t working and we couldn’t find a replacement anywhere so maybe we should ask.

I hate having a cold. I am such a grumpy patient it’s embarrassing 😳🙈
