Festive fledglings flying through December - the Flylady thread

TooStressyTooMessy · 30/11/2019 15:03

Welcome to the December (dare I say the Christmas?!) Flylady thread. This is a really lovely thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise not to as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

Any newbies are very welcome Smile.

**
Flylady also does Christmas missions which I will link to each day. They are really useful and nearer the time she does super missions which help you if you have not managed the regular missions. They are just there to help and as Flylady says... do not worry as you do not need to catch up, just jump in where you are Smile.

Link to the holiday cruising is

here

December’s habit is usually [[http://www.flylady.net/d/habits-of-the-month/december/
pampering yourself]] which is much needed this busy time of year. This can be as simple as taking two minutes to have a cup of tea, if long pampering sessions are unachievable.

The website will update to the December missions etc in the next few days so I will link it again if it is different.

A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Please note that while there is lots of information on the website, from a security point of view we would advise caution with putting any personal details in or downloading anything.

Also a huge thank you to Ghoulette for the November thread.

Love the bunting Willow! Thanks for the photo.

Huge good luck to anyone with mocks coming up.

My DDs 6 and 9 love stationary too. Again though they have a ridiculous amount.

Morning everyone BrewBrewBrew.

Today we have not had the best morning due to stuff being everywhere from my I’ll thought out plan of doing the decorations yesterday. I am SO SICK of the house never being tidy and as you all say it is because we have too much crap. I am at home now on my own and am going to try to channel my despair anger into tidying up.

Thanks for the bunting love!

I've finished the morning routine and am trying to write a To Do list, but things that need immediate attention keep appearing! And I've still got this ghastly cough.

To Do:
draft email to school about crap science teaching - done
pay DS2 dinner money
do other financial beginning of month stuff
do client writing (must be done by Christmas)
get to town for vitamins and a courgette (starting to sound like a Victoria Wood character here)

Ooh, now channelling despair I can work with Tinselette Grin Grin
Pretty much doing the same thing here!

[Gardeners are here and I am dog wrangling and on parking metre/front-door duty, so apart from walks, I can't leave the house, so unfortunately I have no excuse not to tidy.]

Very festive bunting Willow (love the ghost shapes too!). Arf at Victoria Wood character (God bless her soul). Grin. And I shall be nicking some of those excellent stocking ideas! DD would love a jar of chocolate spread in her stocking!

Hope the horrid cough clears up soon as do all the horrid coughs and cold and ailments afflicting Fledglings (and offspring) currently. Brew

I've how you get anything done with a three year old (inquisitive or not!) in tow and a baby, and three others at school, still fills me with admiration! It's gob-smacking what you manage to do! 🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅. Hope you feel better soon!

Zoo good luck to your dd2 with upcoming mocks. DD has exams starting next week that count towards the summer exams, and let's just say that tension levels are ramping up at home! . Enjoy the paper-chain making!

Foxes/Cluck the new method seems to be working ok so far! Smile.

Loads more to do so had better get going again... .
🍒waves to all!

I was just saying I think my meds aren’t causing such an issue when they wear off in the evenings now. And then this evening happened.

The sum total of achievements today is that I ordered the last few used books for Cagletini’s advent calendar. Managed to send DD1 off to art club at her friend’s house on time. That is all!

LivingInLaputa · 02/12/2019 20:34

Oh and I rearranged my therapy appt.

We’ve had some shit news financially and with DH’s referrals too so altogether a crap day.

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 02/12/2019 20:53

I'm sorry it's all gone bendy, Living. Anything the thread can help you deal with?

I've not achieved anything today either. DH was at home today, so I took my cold back to bed at 10.30 and have spent the day in that weird state between awake and asleep where you're not quite sure what's real and what isn't.

Hey ho. Micro evening routine and start again tomorrow.

Sorry you’ve had such a shit day Laputa. Hope things look better tomorrow.

Love the bunting willow and the paper chain Zoo. I’ll have to remember those projects for DD when she is a bit bigger and will stay engrossed in something for longer than 5 minutes

SC I took my own advice and used the method at work today when I realised I’ve got 3 projects that need finished in the next few weeks, and I made good progress. I’ve only ever used it at home Foxes but good for work too.

Only managed the usual work day stuff today - a load of washing, dishes and general tidying, although I did a swish and swipe in the bathroom too. Having an early night tonight. Think I’ll have a look through flyladys list of Christmas tasks. Just to panic myself about the bits I’d forgotten about Grin

Ooh I was like that in the night Willow. Love your bunting oh and your cute dog.
Laputa sorry to hear that.
I haven’t got much done either.

Appointment was difficult but nurse was lovely.
Sorted through some baskets in craft room. Quite fancy doing a bit of sewing. Might make someone a present.Haven’t found the angel patterns I was looking for but spent some time looking at other stuff and found a half down bag that I might finish and give to me. It has some hand stitching as well which I find quite relaxing.

I brought all the plants in from summer house put some in the kitchen window which takes some of the light but I thought this morning they look quite nice.
Hoping to get more done tomorrow. I did get the mincemeat made on Sunday. Between Mass and choir. Our choir is sounding pretty good. I love singing Christmas carols and we have a good selection this year.

Thanks for the warm embrace back into the fold from those who remember me!

Lovely that there are still some familiar faces here! Smile
I haven't been here for quite a while! But flylady remained with me and a lot of what I learned and practised here stuck with me. I'll apologise in advance if I am terrible at personal comments. I'll do my best!

I amn't a bit prepared for Christmas, nothing has been done or arranged. We are having a fairly quiet one though as we have a new baby and won't be going too far! Baby #3, a little boy. He has two older sisters - 2 and 4.

Ta Da:
It was one of those slow slow days where I just about managed to complete morning routine by supper time Xmas Blush, but did manage to get to town to the pet shop for supplies and walk the dog.
Hopefully I will do better tomorrow!
SC have you gotten a dog AND a horse since I was last here?! Massive congratulations!!! Any tips to prevent 6mo golden retriever puppy from deconstructing our entire home and garden?! Xmas Hmm
