Fledglings aim for an amazing August - the Flylady thread

...or just aim to get through the summer holidays!

Welcome to the August Flylady thread. This is a really lovely thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise not to as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

August’s habit is laundry - attempt to conquer Mt. Washmore!

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Please note that while there is lots of information on the website, from a security point of view we would advise caution with putting any personal details in or downloading anything.

Also a huge thank you to Expletive for the July thread CakeFlowersBrewWine.

Laputa my husband has been using swimming to get fit and upon returning to 'training' Grin after a break, he said he crawled out of the pool. It's a serious workout. (I like floating and looking at the ceiling so I'm perennially in peak pool condition)

I still think that's really rubbish this morning I've. Can you talk to your GP? (Grasps at straws - you'll probably say you might as well talk to gp as in guinea pig.

Tidyhomewannabe · 13/08/2019 08:09

Ive sorry you can't get seen sooner - you would think they had certain things in place when it's pregnancy related, maybe try again when you can get hold of your own midwife ?

Sat nursing a strong coffee, 3 year old climbed in our bed last night, then my 8 year had a nightmare so my 12 year old brought him into our room, it was like a family party at 3am this morning Grin everyone soon settled back to bed but I'm struggling to get going this morning! It was lovely to come downstairs and the house feeling slightly more organised than it has been, my plan today is to do a meal plan for the week, give my kitchen sink a full clean (it's black composite and a nightmare to get white marks off) drop dd1 to dancing and take ds & dd2 food shopping........

Ta da
Washing is on
Dishwasher emptied

Lisette1940 · 13/08/2019 08:16

I've made it to the coffee part. Work in afternoon but zone cleaning this morning.

Lisette1940 · 13/08/2019 08:18

Oh no tidy - you'd be wide awake after that at 3am!

IVEgottheDECAF · 13/08/2019 08:28

Thanks for all the concern Flowers i am seeing my own mw (hopefully) next monday so i will see how i get on with her. I managed to prop myself to sleeping on the less painful side last night and it did help a little. I am just soooo over this pregnancy now!

Dc3 + 4 both woke in the night however this then resulted in them both sleeping til 7 / 730 so not too bad!

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/08/2019 12:19

Ive, sadly I am not surprised but that wait really is rubbish. Please do try again with your usual midwife when you see her, or can you call the community midwives? If they say no to a referral you are no worse off.

Oh no Tidy, nobody likes a family party in the middle of the night Hmm.

Big waves to everyone. I am really struggling to get on to MN here. Would be great for my productivity if I was at home Hmm.

Something was obviously going on last night! I had ds in our bed from 1am and he was kicking and hitting us in his sleep allllll night, we tried moving him but he kept waking up so we gave up Hmm
And dd also woke up from a bad dream and she never normally gets up in the night!

Tidyhomewannabe · 13/08/2019 22:28

Foxes let's hope for a better night tonight! It seems there were quite a few disturbed last night! Dd2 actually asked to go to brush her teeth and go to bed this evening at 8 - I think it was more to do with her new flashing my little pony toothbrush rather than wanting to go to bed but I really would like her to stay in her own bed until 5am ........

Bowerbird5 · 13/08/2019 23:16

I ate a pineapple over 3days to try encourage dd2 out.it tasted nice and she appeared 48hrs later

Another4hours fighting brambles in nextdoor garden pmfilled three brown wheelie bins then resorted to pile into an awkward corner.suspect I could've filled at least four more bins...on plus I've salvaged selection big stones ready to build rockery next year with D's!! less exciting abastardi gtoad was in ongst some of them And i near die when it lept out!!
Trampoline now drag to far corner which would allow her to utilise a second section of wash line as we free up another post!!
It really needs a run over with mower that has a box to catch remaining twigs etc but I don't have one
Forecast today is shocking so a chilling kind of day I hope here.dp due back towork lunchtime(sat moaning, didn't help.upset dd2.ignoring me then moan I on my phone)glad to seeback of him today

Bowerbird5 · 14/08/2019 07:23

I’ve don’t do it. It tastes absolutely disgusting and doesn’t work. Tried it with No 3 as I was in labour a few weeks before then everything stopped. I was allowed home to mums eventually as you could see the hospital from hers whereas we lived an hours drive away. I walked up and down the hill, took caster oil and orange, had a curry. Nothing worked. Went home had him nearly three weeks later.

Bet you’ve done nearly a morning work zoo,

IVEgottheDECAF · 14/08/2019 07:31

Yeah i am not fancying anything that gives you the shits tbh! Its not a good look is it.

I still have three weeks until my due date anyway so would be a bit mean to try and force such an eviction quite yet!

Lisette1940 · 14/08/2019 07:58

zoo what a lovely way to remember your mum 💐

And seriously impressed by the bramble clearing.

Tidyhomewannabe · 14/08/2019 08:29

Zoo I'll be thinking of you today.

Ive 1 more week until mission 'get this baby out' can get started then!

Full sleep last night until 730 this morning, even then dd2 came in for a cuddle Grin

Ta da
Mine and dd2s bed stripped and in the washer

Currently cuddling a coffee wondering what order to do things in this morning.......it's looking pretty full outside, I'm wondering whether I can persuade the older kids to have a toy cull , I have asked dd1 & ds (12&8) to put their own clean clothes away this week and they've done it surprisingly well will no grumbling. I'm going to give them some pocket money on Friday if they keep it up all week ( I haven't mentioned money to them yet) but I'm really impressed by their willingness to help - wish I would've thought of it before !!

Tidyhomewannabe · 14/08/2019 08:33

Apologies so many typos in my post - I must need my coffee.......Brew morning everyone Grin

IVEgottheDECAF · 14/08/2019 08:47

Tidy my eldest two are 10 and 11. They have full responsibility for .....

Putting own clothes for wash
Putting own clean clothes away
Stripping own beds and remaking (except putting on duvet)
Keeping bedrooms tidy
Emptying own bins
Hoovering bedrooms

This is standard here. Not doing the above results in no screen time.

They also help around the house by

Clearing one meal table each a day
Helping younger dc tidy
Emptying bins if requested
Bringing in washing if requested
Sweeping or hoovering communal areas if requested

I am now slowly training dc3 (6) into putting away own clothes, she already will help clear the table and tidy toys with the 2 year old

Lisette1940 · 14/08/2019 09:45

My ds likes helping but due to asthma can't dust or Hoover (doctor insists). So he's restricted to putting away stuff but that's a big help.

foxessocks · 14/08/2019 10:32

Mine don't help much yet, I need to start working on that tbh! They will tidy toys and put dirty washing in the basket basic stuff like that but have to be reminded.

Dd has asked to do dinner with me tonight though and chosen to do prawn skewers from her cookery book.
