Fledglings aim for an amazing August - the Flylady thread

...or just aim to get through the summer holidays!

Welcome to the August Flylady thread. This is a really lovely thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise not to as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

August’s habit is laundry - attempt to conquer Mt. Washmore!

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.
**

Please note that while there is lots of information on the website, from a security point of view we would advise caution with putting any personal details in or downloading anything.

Also a huge thank you to Expletive for the July thread CakeFlowersBrewWine.

Nesting 😉

Lisette1940 · 14/08/2019 13:42

We have a tiny ensuite which was just dust encrusted so I've cleaned that our thoroughly. Took ages. The problem with me is that I do the daily routines but not enough zone cleaning.

Trying to turn over a new leaf 🍂🍃

Tidyhomewannabe · 14/08/2019 14:24

Sounds like you're nesting Ive please pass some of that nesting magic over this way !

Tada
Other 2 beds stripped and washed
Everyone showered and dressed
1 x bedding dried
Dd1 baked cakes with dd2
Entrance decluttered, dusted and hoovered
Stairs hoovered
Downstairs hoovered
Lunch made & eaten

We've all sat to watch a film together and dd2 has fallen to sleep - I doubt I'll get her in bed early tonight , she never normally sleeps in the day though so she must need it ! However I may regret the nap around 8pm this evening .......

Stilllivinginazoo · 14/08/2019 14:57
Stilllivinginazoo · 14/08/2019 16:39

Tada
Make crumble mix
Tidy half front room
Put away dvds got from cex yesterday
Three loads wash dry, fold and put away
List written for back to school stuff required, and noted benefit days and how quickly I can fashion it all together...
Start menu plan(to be continued)

Seriously running out of steam today.my insomnia, coupled not eating much despite being super busy(I don't get hungry when I'm busyConfusedcoupled with dp underfoot has seriously out me off my food as it's been so stressful)

To do
Dinner-pasta pesto(sun dry tomato) with meatballs/veggies sausages and loads veggies.plum crumble(may have taken a few ripe plums from next doors trees whilst clearing brambles as so many are just rotting on the branches)

Stilllivinginazoo · 14/08/2019 19:08

We(lil zoo D's and I) watched nanny mcphee which was a nice chance to regroup now "d"p has gone back to work as he tends to hang with D's/encourage him to game all the time with him
Camhs tomorrow, then all being well some school shopping(blazer etc for secondary for lil zoo)

Dinner for little ones done, wash up
My dinner on

Lisette1940 · 14/08/2019 22:03

It's errand day tomorrow. Can't think of any just yet. Still working through home bleurgh. Will ask DH to dust tomorrow. Laundry under control. Dental appointment booked for next week - sensitive tooth needs looking at. School starts next Wednesday in this part of Scotland. Other area back this week.

Gosh tidy you got a lot done, as did everyone else.

Have put all in service days and school holidays into family calendar. I'm not going to get caught out this year 😂

Lisette1940 · 14/08/2019 22:04

Other Scottish areas, I meant

ChicCroissant · 14/08/2019 22:47

I am definitely under-performing compared to everyone else Grin I will raise my game eventually and have actually slowed down on the laundry because we are now swamped with clean clothes and seem to be short of hangers! I will go on a hunt for them tomorrow.

Tidyhomewannabe · 15/08/2019 05:32

I'm up and drinking a strong coffee after another rubbish night, I'm sure I will feel shattered later for being up super early but dd2 ended up in our bed again and ds came in about 415 with another nightmare, so by the time I had settled him back down, I was wide awake! So today's plan will be to keep everyone alive, clean and fed, maybe a wander out later because the forecast is good.

Tidyhomewannabe · 15/08/2019 05:35

Zoo I love Nanny McPhee! (I often prefer the kids movies, the film version of Cinderella and the greatest showman are current favourites)

Bowerbird5 · 15/08/2019 08:51

Tidy agree I often prefer kids films.
zoo lovely idea about roses. She must have been young.
I’venesting😁

Well yesterday was a write off.

Went for acupuncture on Tuesday.
Slept till 10:30 am I couldn’t believe it. I woke for a wee about 6:45 and for about ten seconds about 8 thinking I ‘ll get up in a minute. I never ever sleep for that long. It must have been the acupuncture.
Had letter from school not pleased so looks like I will retire this term. I ‘m in That class all the time. Totally unfair considering the stress it put me through last year and it was only four sessions a week( am or pm) the union said if that happened THEY would call a meeting.

Best friend called to say she had a cancellation so was off from 11 - 3:30pm so I went out into city for the day. We mooched around and I bought some knobs from TKMaxx for a chest of drawers I am painting. Gorgeous from India and only £6.99 for six. Saw a lovely cushion seat but didn’t get it. I am going to take DH into to get it later. His train was nearly an hour late so supper was very late. Enjoyed it though. We often having a carry out as his train is often late or he misses the connection. This time I bought a Sainsbury’s meal for two curry. Plenty there and cheaper as it was £2 off so £9:50. Quite tasty and better than the local takeaway which has gone down hill. We usually have a Chinese meal as Curry take away the other side of city or no parking.
Put dishwasher on
Tidied kitchen
Bed.

Need to get up and tidy downstairs quietly. DH will sleep till about 2pm as three weeks at 16 hrs a day getting a bit much for the old fella. He says he might only do one more trip. 😳 he was supposed to be staying until after Oct trip. It will be strange after 35 years of him working away.
Right best get up and get cracking.

Tidyhomewannabe · 15/08/2019 10:12

bower rubbish about work, on the the brighter side , maybe this'll be a good opportunity to spend some time with DH if he is feeling the same way workwise.

Ta da

Breakfast cooked
Older 2 kids are both washed and dressed
Cooker wiped
Splash back wiped
Kitchen window cleaned
Cupboard fronts wiped

I better get off my backside, jump in the shower and start the daily chores Grin

Bowerbird5 · 15/08/2019 12:16

Tidy that’s one of the things that worries me!🤣

Cat fed
Chicken fed
Do and I fed. DH woke up much earlier than expected however we went for breakfast in summerhouse and he has dropped off in the rocking chair so after completing crossword I snuck out. Church bells ringing and I was “ Oh, no.” As one of the locals has died and I was going to go to funeral. However after checking local paper on line found it isn’t his. Thank goodness as thought I missed it. Wouldn’t want to as known him and his lovely wife for a long time. Don’t like going and this is our fourth one this year.

Right going to put some ironing away.
Make bed. Left it to air.
Need to sort hot spot and then vacuum. Power of three!

Bowerbird5 · 15/08/2019 12:19

Tidy meant to say DH is one year in Oct past retirement age. I am four years off. Not sure how we got to be this old. BFH said the same last night. Make the most of your life it goes quicker than you think!

Lisette1940 · 15/08/2019 13:40

Bower I don't like your workplace ☹️ life's too short for this short of thing.

I do like the sound of your summerhouse though. Sounds very idyllic.

Waves to everyone else. Well done Tidy

TooStressyTooMessy · 15/08/2019 14:49

Hello! I have managed to get back on. Currently on a sun lounger (mostly in the shade as I don’t do sun well) watching DDs play in the pool.

The first few days were quite stressful tbh with terrible behaviour from both girls but especially DD2. The last few days much better as we all seemed to settle into things a bit better. Have done more enforced resting in the hot bit of the day which has helped. We fly back late tomorrow night so flying will have to recommence on Sunday. Will be a shock to the system! Tonight through there is the evening entertainment and cocktails Grin.

I will need to think about back to school when we get back. Have a few back to school YouTube videos to watch. Apparently home weather is cold and rainy Shock. Blistering heat here.

Lisette, Star for being organised for back to school.

I’ll put a launch pad link on next while I can manage to get on here then will be back on late tomorrow night if not before.

Big wing flaps to all.

bower mum was 52 when she died,so yes very young really...I had to laugh at you not being sure about having dp underfoot!!
Work sounds absolutely rubbishFlowers
It's a shame you can't post pics,I'd love to see your summerhouse❤️

Stressy you are in for a shock to the system temp wise on your return!!

Tidy I love both versions of beauty and the beast!

So today we went and met O.T to discuss D's initial assessment for ASD .he was very upset I had kept it from him(he frets so much I felt two months if that was pointless,he has got two weeks notice as o.t is say next week and we felt it best tell him together)he initially disagreed it could be a possibility.now he's just very quiet, guessing he is trying to process it all.o.t has agreed take a photo of the team member doing assessment and sent it to us so he can be a bit familiar with whom we are seeing as it's a stranger to him

We went into town after as it's a few minutes from centre and visited schoolwear shop for lil zoo blazer, tie,pe fleece and pe top- bye bye almost £100got leggings from Primark(allowed black leggings or joggers/shorts for or bottoms) then picked up trainers,a school bag and more stationery needed for dd2.i also pick up dd2 a desk lamp..D's was promised a treat as he finds shopping in town with crowds etc very stressful.he picked another cacti and a travel battleships (we might have a go with that later)
Came home,late lunch(2pm)
Sort shopping out
Littertray and bins empty
Wash on
Sweep kitchen floor
Ring council as recycling bin STILL not been empty.i complained Tuesday morning it hadn't been collected (assisted collection it's ment to be pick up from garden as we have steps and I have bad back)promised be done within 24 hrs.when rang today cheeky binmen had said in response council email it wasn't clearly available to collect.erm it's where you put it back just inside my garden in clear view of the road!!she's now ordered a formal complaint and it should be dealt with by Tuesday(3working days) if it's still not done by we'd next week to ring back and she will be taking "very strong measures to get this straightened out"...

I need to clean surfaces as cossima was found strolling earlier along them😒😒😒😒
Dinner tonight a simple sun dry tomato pesto with pasta, broccoli and cheese as I was awake from 3am...

IVEgottheDECAF · 15/08/2019 18:25

Lisette1940 · 15/08/2019 18:47

That's very young zoo 💐

Been at work. Frazzled husband holding the fort. I must be superwoman given the state of him upon my return.

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/08/2019 04:35

I've have had or having- medical induced??if so why can't you as this pregnancy has become so difficult?

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/08/2019 06:35

Another silly o'clock start as can't sleep so might as well do something productive!!

Tada
Cleaned out two kitchen cupboards
Bleach lav
Wash on
Fed cats
Walk nelly
Sweep living room floor

Just making lil zoo and I some toast before I clean out freezer!!

To do
Deep clean front room
Help lil zoo sort out her side of room of doom!

IVEgottheDECAF · 16/08/2019 06:50

Some are being induced / planned csection for medical reasons which obv i am glad i dont have any of their issues. But i feel like someone has been kicking the shit out of me with steel toe caps Sad Apparently induction for SPD type of issues very rarely happens. Will speak to MW on monday and see atleast what point if i dont go naturally they would be willing to do a sweep. DC4 was born within 24 hours of a sweep so i have faith there.

ExpletiveDelighted · 16/08/2019 07:50

A sweep worked for me too keep towels handy. You poor thing Ive, hope baby puts in an appearance soon.
