Fledglings aim for an amazing August - the Flylady thread

...or just aim to get through the summer holidays!

Welcome to the August Flylady thread. This is a really lovely thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise not to as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

August’s habit is laundry - attempt to conquer Mt. Washmore!

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Please note that while there is lots of information on the website, from a security point of view we would advise caution with putting any personal details in or downloading anything.

Also a huge thank you to Expletive for the July thread CakeFlowersBrewWine.

Im ok. I keep reading and not posting. Flying is at all time low. Im just like in total cba mood. Not even fully packed hospital bag....

Tidyhomewannabe · 22/08/2019 12:32

Ive maybe pick your 3 favourite songs, pack a bit of your hospital bag while they're playing then stop when they finish?

Ty for the motivation tidy

Dc have had quick lunch and i am going to put dc4 for his nap shortly

TooStressyTooMessy · 22/08/2019 13:27

Eeeeeek re GCSEs next year zoo!

Ah ok, I like the sound of podcasts then Laputa, might investigate.

Aaaaagghhh shoe shopping. Mixed results. Both kids measured and only grown half a size since last measured so we can deal with that. Found DD1 a pair she is happy with... sort of as have to have them delivered. DD2 is a different story. She found a pair she loved then changed her mind when she saw the ones DD1 had chosen, can’t get the same ones as DD1 though as DD1 would hate that. So we have left with nothing for DD2 although I have written down the style she originally liked so not a total disaster. Have given up and stopped at the cafe next store which has a soft play. My lunch is horrible.

Onwards and upwards!

Hi everyone,

Wednesday

Finished rockery. It looks really good. Put membrane down then tiny stones from the range. It is a small raised bed with sandstone (free) and the two blend well. Would be laying membrane and bark for path but it is raining here and forecast all day until 2am when only 27% chance.
Animals fed
Electrician arrived.
Bed made.
Some washing put away.
Swept kitchen
Cake made.
Roast chicken etc
Washed up with HOT water yeah!

Thursday
DH took car for new gear box. Animals fed.
Washed up breakfast stuff and a soaking pan.
Cake decorating box sorted, put cutters into new box bought yesterday so now a box within a box.
DH back as I was doing this. The garage have ordered the wrong one! I was going away tomorrow for the weekend. Luckily mentioned it to another person that is going and she offered me a lift. It will be company for her. Hour and a half to two hour drive.

Need to pack bag.
Vacuum house.
Put more clothing away. Vacuum boudoir and then dust.

Bowerbird5 · 22/08/2019 13:43

Sorry lunch is horrible.

We are about to have some soup. DH said an hour ago he would buy some rolls. He hasn’t been. He has Manflu. I wish he would stop snorting. He has a cold. I had a cold last month I went to work, made meals and did some cleaning. I did crash out a bit on my day off.

Tell her having the same shoes will be a problem at home in the mornings as they might get muddled up. She needs to come around or go back in too small shoes while everyone will have shiny new ones. Good luck. Buy cake! I hated shoe shopping with DD as she has really unusually slim ankles.

Stilllivinginazoo · 22/08/2019 13:54

bower mine all have slim ankles and wide where toes join the foot.shoe shopping can be like my own personal hell except for bra shopping, which out trump's it.my girls are as hellish for bra sizing as I am

Stressy sorry lunch is awful.one out of two for shoes is still a win!!lucky mine have never wanted same shoes,up until now.dd2 has a pair of doc Martin's lil zoo is coveting and they both love plimpsol type pumps with laces that have patterns etc on

Tidy dd2 is not coping v well tbh.she sat I media this year, gets results on return to school as still has a year of coursework to do and a resit if failed
All bar maths her results are ok,but she not coping very well with stresses of it all.her reflux has been awful, sleep patterns all over the place/dreadful insomnia and keeps getting leg spasms.has no idea what wants career wise and is expected sort her 6th form/college subjects and place to study soon after returning back to schoolit's a lot of pressure on young peopleSad

I've final stages growing new humans is exhausting but you know that already
Get them bags sorted and I shoo a stork to head in your direction get this over with for youWink

Well I have a headache from the drilling and seem to have acquired a sore throat!hoping it's not a cold as if the temps are about to rise that's not going to be fun...

ExpletiveDelighted · 22/08/2019 16:14

It has dawned on us today that we've got GCSEs results to pick up today for the next three years (we did know but the reality kicked in today). DS takes his full set next year and is very twitchy already, DD will take one in year 10 the year after and the rest of hers the year after that. We have already done the rounds of college open days with DS as he has an EHCP and his placement needs to be agreed with the council early in the new year, we wanted decision-making largely out of the way before going back this year (colleges are widely scattered and he finishes school late so open eves quite logistically challenging).

TooStressyTooMessy · 22/08/2019 20:54

Wow a few of you with GCSE results looming then.

Thanks Bower, good point about shoes getting mixed up in the morning!

Long day here with frustrating shoe progress but with a couple of online orders I think we will be ok. Just grumpy now, have had enough and DDs both still very awake.

Links next then I hope to return in a better mood tomorrow!

Bluergh another super early get up, I've only had about 2 ish hours, been laid in bed awake for a while, woke oh up (sneezing and coughing) then dd2 climbed in with us, so I thought I better get up so I don't keep everyone awake - I'm ready for this cold to go now , I don't think I'll get to see mum this weekend unless it clears up super sharpish !

Ta da
Pass me the coffeeeeeeee Brew

Too I purposefully leave the shoe shop until last because it is the worst bit in my opinion! I hope you get it all sorted without too much trouble.

Tidyhomewannabe · 23/08/2019 05:24

Zoo stay in bed for a while longer . I've been on my phone pretty much looking at nothing since I came downstairs, now under the duvet on the sofa watching tv , maybe a power nap before the kids start getting up ..... I don't think I'll be doing anything productive today apart from BrewCake

Stilllivinginazoo · 23/08/2019 05:35

Cats are yowling at door and scratching it to be fed

TooStressyTooMessy · 23/08/2019 09:23

Oh yes they would do the trick Ive!

Tidy, I think actually I left it too late this year for the shoes. Shoes themselves would have been ok but trainers for DD2 were very difficult. She is not an unusual size and I went to 1 shoe shop, one sports shop and two supermarkets. A grand total of 2 suitable shoes to try on, both of which didn’t fit.

I stayed up last night to sort it as was getting stressed over it which I realise is just silly so I have now ordered DD2 trainers online (that in itself was difficult!) and also some wellies for DD1. So although I still have to wait for the orders to come, shoe shopping is nearly done Grin. Just my tap shoes to sort but I have found a cheap pair on eBay and also managed to find some to borrow from a friend. They will be too big though so am going to try them with thick socks and see if I can get away with it for one class. If they won’t fit it will have to be eBay then if I like it I’ll get some proper ones.

Must get on now and go home and do some tidying. Just dropped DDs at an activity for a few hours.

Sent oh random links for dd1's 13th birthday ideas - I have no clue what to buy her, she's mad on stranger things so I've bought a few bits and bobs relating to that but I have no other clues xx
