Welcome to the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. Quite a few of us have been on here for a while, so for that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't, and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are very welcome!

Every day I will post a link to the activities for "Today" which summarises everything you need on a daily basis if you want to follow the system strictly, but we tend to adapt it to suit our individual circumstances, homes and energy-levels!

Please note that, although Flylady is keen for us to check in to the website, we've recently had a few concerns wrt security, so although there is lots of useful info on the site, it's best not download it or put any of your personal details into the website for now.

More information on getting started available:
here (containing baby-steps!) but please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further qs.

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for starting a routine and overcoming the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - basic routine + more in depth tasks
-Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage).
You can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level.
-Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) let's be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's, and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't suit you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and lots of support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows ( but again, please note we advise only looking at the pdfs and not downloading them ):

** launch pad (general info) here

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home) here

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends) here

** info about zones (explanation of how zones work) [[http://www.flylady.net/d/br/2017/06/11/please-explain-the-zones-6/
here]]

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself) here

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task) here

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!) here

Oh and not forgetting "habit of the month" which for June is : drinking water!

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Morning all

Well i survived first morning back to school! Big three all sorted and to school on time. Picked up a bit of shopping on way back.

Dp is being a bit useless. Enough said there. Trying not to let it piss me off too much.

foxessocks · 03/06/2019 10:24

I survived school run too but only just! Can sympathize re school gates and parents, I try not to get involved which probably makes me seem unsociable!

Ds had his usual breakfast time tantrum Hmm but we got there in the end.

Once again I can't get any work done as the computer system is down. So I am going to finish my tea then get on with rest of daily routine and home bleugh.

Ta da
School / nursery run
Went for a run
Dishwasher on
Washing on
Gammon in slow cooker

To do
Finish daily routine
Home bleugh
15 minutes porch / dining area

I've acceptance is the way forward I'm afraid.i gave up and if something gets done it's a pleasant surprise/bonus.i not wasting time getting stressed anymore.hes not worth the effort if that!!

I've hit tired....want nap.to do HUGE.ds very anxious today.if I get stuff done we can relax and to something together

Cagliostro · 03/06/2019 10:29

Thank you kind people. I am glad there are lovely folk like you to be nice to me when I’m not nice to myself! ❤️

DH has taken DD to a play date (other girl is on inset day) and took the toddler too. DS and I are sitting in companionable quiet as he is WRITING yes that’s right WRITING 😱 he still finds it tiring sometimes and doesn’t particularly choose to do it, however this morning he came up with a plot for Lego movie 3 so we suggested he write it down.

I’ve realised it is our group work tomorrow - English which we generally do weekly, plus now fortnightly vikings and French, and I’ve prepped nothing! DD also needs to do her reading for English and they both have Viking hw. Argh! Really not in the frame of mind for it (period also arrived yesterday so not feeling great) but I really don’t want to cancel. I may disappear to the pub later for a planning meeting with myself :o or possibly just upstairs, but anxiety is super high at the moment due to aforementioned packaging fuck up, so I can’t think of anything.

Really don’t feel ready for “back to school” and am quite glad of the inset day DD’s friend is having!

I need to decide what to do with the other games nobody wanted too. Will bump my FB post to see if I get any more interest. I do have groups I can post on but would rather avoid as much as possible and have things go to people I know if they want them!

Tablets time, anxiety going nowhere!

IVEgottheDECAF · 03/06/2019 11:50

Ta da

Washing on line
Dry washing sorted and away
Washer on
Shopping away
Pots washed

Slacking today. Pointy stick anyone?

Lisette1940 · 03/06/2019 11:51

I think everyone needs to be reminded to be kind to themselves. You almost have to plan it into your week because otherwise you get swept along on a wave of coulda, woulda, shoulda applied to yourself. Do what you can, with what you have, where you are...

Lisette1940 · 03/06/2019 11:53

I'm slacking on the couch so no pointy stick from me. Headache - waiting for meds to kick in. Chill. There's a whole month in which to be busy 😆

IVEgottheDECAF · 03/06/2019 12:11

lisette Grin

I am now on the sofa. Dc4 has nodded off. This is good, he keeps fighting sleep until late on and having tantrums and falling asleep in awkward places at awkward times!

I do think life may become interesting if he is still needing naps when this baby arrives!

Ta Da Cont

Bed stripped
Moved rubbish from my side of bed
Paired some socks from odds basket

Stilllivinginazoo · 03/06/2019 12:20

More washing done
Clean D's windows
Quick wipe around damp cloth
Looked in girls room and near cry it's that disgusting...
Got D's retrieve laundry basket from in there I filled yesterday as I might break neck try navigate to it

To do

Bake something
Scrub dining table
Do something with kitchen mess

foxessocks · 03/06/2019 12:30

Loving the chat today it's making me feel much better about everything Smile

I've my ds doesn't have naps anymore but occasionally falls asleep at inconvenient times so I know the feeling, he also has a lot of tantrums at the moment I think because he's permanently tired Hmm but he won't nap and I've given up trying.

Ta da
Daily routine and s&s bathroom
Some work finally!
Stripped bed
Changed towels etc
Emptied bins
Collected ds
Made lunch - avoided any tantrums about milk / water, strawberries whole / cut, cheese in roll or in sandwich...it's a minefield I tell you! Confused

A side note...if anyone suffers bad PMS (I'm talking mood swings, anxiety increasing not physically so much) I have been taking evening primrose of late and I'm pretty sure it's working. Could just be all in my head placebo type thing but either way I don't care!

IVEgottheDECAF · 03/06/2019 12:56

I think i am definitely going to try some kind of sling / carrier for baby which i have never done before so that if need be ds can sleep in the buggy and i can carry baby for school runs

Stilllivinginazoo · 03/06/2019 13:29

I used sling ive as where used to live some pathways/jittys to dd1 school couldn't accommodate double buggy and had go long way round otherwise.
Also used to get some chores done when they wouldn't stop screaming/be put down anywhere...

Tada
Lunch
Shedloads bastarding washing folded and put away, another load in wash and some in drier
Checked airers for dry items
I am running on empty I can feel eyelids refusing to stay open so D's is timing a 30min nap.then want bake and wash all lower floors, finish the laundry for today, there's still approx 3loads left and spot gardening with D's before girls get home!!

Cagliostro · 03/06/2019 13:32

Ive I had a close caboo which was awesome. Comfy for both of us, but easy to use once used to it. I was gutted when cagletini outgrew it.

Foxes thank you, I should try that. MH issues are a month-round thing for me certainly, but it’s worse at PMT time (well actually during rather than before really). I feel the stuff I’m feeling all the time (useless/anxious/negative etc) but it is SO much more intense when hormonal and I can’t keep a lid on it so easily. I’ve escaped for a little while but forgot that DH has another long journey to the hospital today, seeing a surgeon to see if anything at all can be done. So I’m heading home in a minute.

Anyone watched Working Moms on Netflix? Great show, it made me laugh in one of the later episodes where one of the mums gets a copy of Marie Kondo’s book :o

Stilllivinginazoo · 03/06/2019 15:45

Good vibes wafted for mrcag hospital trip

Tada
30min nap
Wash up
More wash folded and put away
More in drier
Wash kitchen, living room and gall floors on hands and knees
Attempt cutting if an Easter cactus and succulent with D's,which he really enjoyed doing❤️
He now has Lego out,so I'm going to search for the elusive cookie recipe I couldn't find earlier!!(healthy one,so I wanted it for dd2 as she's cutting portion sizes as fed up being fattest one in her group and she list a sterling 3lb this last week which was fab as she still had some chocolate, popcorn and a takeaway pizza/junk at friends sleepover❤️

To do
Keep scout cat in ready for tomorrow's biopsySad
Tea tonight- baked cod with pasta and green beans

TooStressyTooMessy · 03/06/2019 18:01

Well done to DD2 zoo Star.

Ive, I used a moby style stretchy wrap when DD2 was a newborn then had a carrier when she was older and it was fab. We had a Stokke My Carrier I think.

Cag I loved Workin Moms. I love all that parenting comedy stuff as it’s like free therapy Grin. Also love The Letdown, Bad Moms and A Bad Mom’s Christmas. Also loved Motherland and Outnumbered.

Need something else to watch now Smile.

Will be thinking of your DH and his appointment Cag.

Big wing flaps to all.

Ta da:-
General laundry etc today
Was organised and prepped veg snacks for packed tea tomorrow then forgot and put double in packed tea for the girls tonight by mistake which they have eaten . Oh well.

Cagliostro · 03/06/2019 18:14

Oh god yes Motherland was brilliant. One of the mums from that was in line of duty as well, very versatile actress! Letdown was awesome too. I was wondering about trying outnumbered, I might make that my next binge actually (I’ve only seen bits of it and Karen is very funny).

DH is home from the hospital... nothing the surgeon can do. Pretty much expected that.

ExpletiveDelighted · 03/06/2019 18:20

I loved Outnumbered but absolutely couldn't bear Motherland Confused.

ExpletiveDelighted · 03/06/2019 18:20

Stilllivinginazoo · 03/06/2019 18:40

Ps dd2 was bit stressed but thought it went okish, having found a useful revision clip on a particular way to answer certain questions prior to exam, and blow me one of those type questions was in it so she's happy has a chance of getting a chunk of the 12 marks involved!!
I spammed her with funny memes for when she got in and found stray double decker in cupboard earlier that must've got separated from its multipack friends thus escaped being devoured.she was pleased with both..now soaking in tub with her laptop on chair in open doorway watching Chicago of,buried under a sea lush bubblesGrin

Stilllivinginazoo · 03/06/2019 18:41
