Welcome to the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. Quite a few of us have been on here for a while, so for that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't, and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are very welcome!

Every day I will post a link to the activities for "Today" which summarises everything you need on a daily basis if you want to follow the system strictly, but we tend to adapt it to suit our individual circumstances, homes and energy-levels!

Please note that, although Flylady is keen for us to check in to the website, we've recently had a few concerns wrt security, so although there is lots of useful info on the site, it's best not download it or put any of your personal details into the website for now.

More information on getting started available:
here (containing baby-steps!) but please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further qs.

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for starting a routine and overcoming the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - basic routine + more in depth tasks
-Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage).
You can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level.
-Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) let's be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's, and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't suit you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and lots of support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows ( but again, please note we advise only looking at the pdfs and not downloading them ):

** launch pad (general info) here

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home) here

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends) here

** info about zones (explanation of how zones work) [[http://www.flylady.net/d/br/2017/06/11/please-explain-the-zones-6/
here]]

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself) here

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task) here

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!) here

Oh and not forgetting "habit of the month" which for June is : drinking water!

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Well done stressy! I’ve never tried making a Spanish omelette, DD and I are meaning to make mini omelettes in the oven though as we saw it on eat well for less. You put a load of veg and the beaten egg in muffin trays.

I’m a crap cook really, I make some things really well but I get distracted and flustered really easily. I’d love to experiment more but the Caglets are so fussy.

Toddler had a super late nap so tonight will not be fun. It’s thundering and lightning...ing outside now.

So much stuff I should be doing - DLA crap, self referral to physio, carer grant form... no energy or motivation to do any of it.

Singingcricket · 18/06/2019 23:15

Hey all! I just wrote a really long post and lost it all so going to post the launch pad link containing the flight plan for Wednesday here and catch up with you all tomorrow! Have a happy anti-procrastination day! G'night!

stressy that's brilliant news on both dinner and continued firmness!Star

Big row here with dp after he took D's to play gaming at his for a few hours then expected feeding on his return after I warned him he would need to eat at home as no way he would ear what zoolets had for dinnerhe flounced off home in a mood and itexted him,but no reply...
Dd2 said english lang wasn't too bad.biology and more maths today,so will be expecting tears later
Lil zoo forgot bring coat homepraying it's not raining as we head off this morning as dd2 has the only umbrella so someone would have to go coatless to keep her dry and we all know that'd be me

foxessocks · 19/06/2019 07:06

Morning! Omlettes sound great toostressy , we don't have them very often because dh isn't keen but they are a great quick dinner. Cag I saw that episode of eat well for less and wrote down the egg muffins thing for a lunch idea , haven't tried yet either though. It did look easy. I liked the idea of eggs cooked in a mug in the microwave too to make an egg MC muffin!

Day off work today and trying to decide best order of doing things as I think ds will need a nap and he only falls asleep in the car so need to plan my trip to the shop accordingly...

foxessocks · 19/06/2019 07:07

And Angry for you zoo! Ridiculous!

foxessocks · 19/06/2019 07:07

On your behalf I mean not angry at you obviously! Grin

IVEgottheDECAF · 19/06/2019 09:30

Morning all, you have all been busy!

I use a wilkinson sword intuition razor, its basically a razor with like a bar of soap surrounding the blades. The idea i think is you don't need shaving gel but i like it because i never ever cut myself with it (i am very clumsy) It could be good for someone just starting out with shaving.

Was measured by the midwife yesterday and already over the 95th centile on my chart. Can feel it today as well, baby is all lay on one side and it hurts!

Rained a bit this morning but weather app says dry for rest of the day so i am going to get some washing on the line as it is backing up again

Ta da

School run and shit
Wash on
Dryer on

Singingcricket · 19/06/2019 10:11

Dag/salut/hello fledglings! Hope everyone ok! The weather has been glorious (albeit humid) and they say it is going to storm today. Had all my washing ready and prepared for fortnightly ironing lady and she hasn't shown up - gah!

Mmmm, yum, love a good frittata - well done Toostressy - they do say the test of a good chef lies in their omelette-making skills!

Cag /Foxes I also saw that muffin recipe on "More Money Than Sense" Wink and thought it looked good. Must track it down!

Ouch re: your shoulder Expletive I hope it heals speedily! Congratulations on new work responsibilities! And well done: re mega-tidying!

Foxes hope you can take things a bit more gently today after your very busy day yesterday! And that ds nap logistics work out ok!

Cag Glad the meeting went ok if albeit tiring. Good luck with all the DLA crap, self referral to physio, carer grant form etc etc. It does sound very draining. One thing at a time. Small steps. May the Fledgling Force be with you x

Zoo Glad shoulder improving! Hope you are not getting soaked this morning and sorry your dp is still being a bit of a twonk (if you don't mind me saying so!). And hope your dd2 surviving exams ok!

Lisette You sound very determined with your decluttering schedule! Good luck with it all. The sentimental stuff and paperwork is the most difficult I think! (I dither horribly over it all!)
Love the hoovering viking women! Grin

Chic hope your dd has totally recovered now, really feel for her, migraines must be hard to cope with at such a young age.

Another early start here. Praying that last two exams go ok for dd (both aurals). Then the agonising wait for a phone call ... or not!

To be fair Lisette exams actually start at 7.50 am but you have to be mustered on school premises and signed in by 7.30 am ifyswim.

Thanks for kind enquiries re: dd & exams! -No, she hasn't failed yet! It's a very complicated system (naturally!) but basically you are allowed two "echecs" (failures) totted up on a scale of number of teaching hours that subject represents (ie 8 hrs a
per week, or 2 hrs a week). But it works out that you are basically allowed one fail in a core subject, and one fail in a minor subject out of twelve exams, but not two core failures. But even then, the failures can't be bad failures ifyswim, they have to be within a certain percentage and you are asked to resit at end of summer holidays in order to catch up for following year. And if you are not in category of "aced it" or "bombed it" your results are subject to an advisory panel of teachers. In summary Confused we are still hanging in there by our very finger tips this year!

I've just cooked breakfast for guest and we are off out! Got to collect furries from trainer later on too! Dh back tonight!

Have a good day one and all! Waves to all fledglings!

OP posts:
Singingcricket · 19/06/2019 10:16

Ooh that's exciting I've sounds like baby will be making an entrance sooner rather than later Smile!

Ta for shaver recommendation. I tend to use mens' razors as I always think they are sharper and less expensive than those made specifically for women but that one looks good! Also good for dd who is still a bit clumsy!

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 19/06/2019 10:48

More money than sense is a far better name for that show sc! :o

And thanks xx

Some home ed done including starting a new workbook that they should be able to finish between them by summer. So that’s good as I’m trying to use up and finish as much stuff as we can both to tie up loose ends and declutter books we don’t need anymore!

Going to try some more of my walking challenge today but then a bit of swimming after mainly so I can use the steam room! It’s so good for pain and I felt a bit sneezy/itchy-throaty so I want to go kill the germs.

Must crack on with more HE now

ChicCroissant · 19/06/2019 10:56

Morning! Not sure whether to go out or not today, will jab friend I should have been meeting and if not, can meet up with others. Weather atrocious again, really dark and dismal.

DD still has headache but is powering on. Now sneezing again Sad, she's done really well and hasn't had a day off school in ages but I sense one in the near future!

Done a few bits of ironing today until the water ran out in the steamer and two loads of laundry. More tidying and that vacuum need to be wielded too, prepare that Viking attack!

Catch you later!

foxessocks · 19/06/2019 14:34

Hi everyone!
Sc it does sound very complicated but I guess you get used to the system! Good luck to your dd anyway

Just flying by as ds is asleep but stirring and I've got to collect dd soon so I should try and do something useful before I go.

Attempted to sort out a few dates in the diary which was anti procrastination but no one has replied so not that useful Grin

Stilllivinginazoo · 19/06/2019 15:16

SC twonk is far politer than anything I've called him of late!the whole exam system sounds hideously stressful there.fingers, eyes legs and toes crossed the call is a good one!!
I've might look out for that razor as I'm a clumsy oafsorry baby being an uncomfy monkey.are you prone to having whoppers?
Cag hope germs stay at bay, well done with HE
Chic poor bean.is it a cold or allergies?dd2 sneezing like it's flu season but I think it's hayfever/cat.we all get it for about a month in summer where pollens and the animals set us all off
Foxes dinner sounds lush.i having a bit of a paprika fetish at mo since I got some that's smoked...

Tada
School run n shit
Decluttered another 3bags

HE tackling slave trade.scjool have given us sheets of info and couple question to answer.its SO BORING.
Sat and googled lesson planning and intend to off piste a bit.also looked at other schools year 8 curriculum so I can plan lessons across the summer as a break is hard get him back on boardtoying idea of weather station as he's into all things nature related...
Finished learning about "the middle passage"
Next up will be abolition of slavery so I've decided we shall debate the court case of James sommersett to liven it up a bit.i shall be a pompous pro slavery advocate and see how he fairs as civil liberty one!

I'm on mobile data at mo as got connection issues locally, fingers X it's fixed later or dd2 may rev into a frenzy after some revision if can't access her favourite shows on various sites she goes to

foxessocks · 19/06/2019 16:01

It's this recipe zoo www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/chickenpaprikawithle_80341/amp
Fingers crossed it's as nice as it sounds / looks!

Cagliostro · 19/06/2019 16:10

Back from the gym. I walked there, then did 25min on treadmill, then did my usual swim (was expecting to do less than normal). Yay! Not so great on the marathon walking challenge distance wise but still proud that my fitness is improving.

Lisette1940 · 19/06/2019 16:33

Much impressed with Cags fitness achievements. Climbed on exercise bike this morning ...and did 6.5km just to start things off. Clearly not fit 😜 but I've got going. Walk scheduled for later. Lovely weather here.

I've glad to hear you and babydecaf are doing well.

What is it with shoulders on this thread? Hope shoulder rehab progressing.

Must be hard sitting exams in glorious weather. I don't think 7.50 am is much improvement SC

I'm shredding old papers/receipts tonight. Will face into momentos over next few days. And then book sorting. I've stood over two males repeating 'I need a decision' with regard to their belongings and their hoarding tendencies but let's see how decisive I am with my things!

Lisette1940 · 19/06/2019 16:34

Meant to add a 😀 SC

Cagliostro · 19/06/2019 16:44

I haven’t done that much on the exercise bike! Actually need to start using it more once the walking thing is done. Worked out I have under 20 miles to go so that is encouraging.

Haven’t done any of the other stuff I should be doing though obviously.

foxessocks · 19/06/2019 17:18

Hmm well my bedroom sorting / cleaning isn't happening this week...I keep standing in the room and not knowing where to start! It's mostly decluttered now tbh so I need to do bits of deep cleaning but I don't know what.

Cagliostro · 19/06/2019 17:31

I hate that “don’t know where to start” feeling!

Cagliostro · 19/06/2019 18:15

I am 1 minute into Better Things and can already tell I’m going to like it :o thanks stressy

TooStressyTooMessy · 19/06/2019 18:22

Hi all. No worries Cag. I have binge watched it all and now need something else! Just started Good Girls on Netflix but not sure what I think yet.

Ah that’s good that there is some leeway for your DD SC . Such a stressful system!

Did home bleugh today. Tea eaten. Girls in PJs. They are playing with plastacine while we try to get as much tidied up as possible.

Cagliostro · 19/06/2019 18:46

Ha, I was wondering why her voice sounded so familiar, and then I see at the end it’s BOBBY HILL! 😱😱😱

Yes I’m procrastinating wildly by watching TV (also browsing Facebook and just bought something for Cagletini). On anti procrastination day. I am winning at life.

ChicCroissant · 19/06/2019 23:10

Decided to make Red Velvet cupcakes tonight - after checking the recipe, I decided to use a box mix! DD has always wanted to make a box mix cake and I've always refused, but thought this was the time to use one. Kitchen looks like a crime scene, I was washing up and saying to myself 'I bet zoo's kitchen doesn't look like this when she does her lovely cooking' Grin Finished them late, so will make some icing tomorrow. Have tested one for quality purposes

Tired, will go to bed and read for a bit. DD still sneezing, it must be a cold because I can't imagine that any pollen could survive THE CONSTANT RAIN to irritate any nostrils. Sleep well, fledglings!

Singingcricket · 20/06/2019 07:03
