Welcome to the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. Quite a few of us have been on here for a while, so for that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't, and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are very welcome!

Every day I will post a link to the activities for "Today" which summarises everything you need on a daily basis if you want to follow the system strictly, but we tend to adapt it to suit our individual circumstances, homes and energy-levels!

Please note that, although Flylady is keen for us to check in to the website, we've recently had a few concerns wrt security, so although there is lots of useful info on the site, it's best not download it or put any of your personal details into the website for now.

More information on getting started available:
here (containing baby-steps!) but please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further qs.

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for starting a routine and overcoming the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - basic routine + more in depth tasks
-Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage).
You can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level.
-Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) let's be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's, and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't suit you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and lots of support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows ( but again, please note we advise only looking at the pdfs and not downloading them ):

** launch pad (general info) here

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home) here

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends) here

** info about zones (explanation of how zones work) [[http://www.flylady.net/d/br/2017/06/11/please-explain-the-zones-6/
here]]

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself) here

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task) here

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!) here

Oh and not forgetting "habit of the month" which for June is : drinking water!

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Hi all just popping in before battery dies, really need a new charging cable as four devices sharing one is a bit lame

Had a nice day got loads of home ed done so definitely feel back in the swing of things, I made some resources for future use too (macbeth mostly) and we had some new friends round in the afternoon as well.

On the down side I feel that horrible stinging feeling that suggests mastitis might be on the cards...

Cagliostro · 10/06/2019 23:32

BTW zoo meant to say, is the cupboard fixings issue not under the council’s remit rather than yours? I think here stuff like that would be the HA’s responsibility still.

I haven’t rewritten the work on the whiteboard for tomorrow but it’ll largely be the same as today I think 😂 but in the morning I have a carers support coffee morning down the road and DH has to drag the Caglets with him to the GP (only a simple appt and the big two can wait in the waiting room, I’ve done that with them for my appts before)

Then I’ll have to dash to town to relieve him of said Caglets as he has a meeting.

Then English with DD’s friend so not sure what else we will have time for actually 🤔

Please take care bower x

Singingcricket · 11/06/2019 08:52

Good morning all!

Oh no, hope it's not mastitis Cag but great you had a more positive w/e! Smile

Hope you are resting a bit today Zoo (if at all possible) please take it steady.

Also had a very upbeat weekend but it all went to shite this morning when DD kicked off badly Sad. I know it's down to exam nerves but even so ... . Honestly feel like walking out of the front door and not being here when she gets back Angry. If DH wasn't travelling I would do it too!

It's 9.50 am here and the only thing I've done so far is walked the furries so I'd better get on... .

Have a good day fledglings!

Sorry to hear some plus dc are struggling FlowersBrewCake

I need to actually do things today. House is sliding into chaos. All of the walk through areas e.g. hall, stairs, landings are cluttered and need cleaning. You literally cant walk anywhere without STUFF. So i think i might start with that.

Cagliostro · 11/06/2019 18:29

Hi all. Basically no home ed today as had the coffee morning... felt really shy and intimidated so my friend came along and rescued me 😂 we did chat to another couple of people she knew, then hung out in town with her and her DS while DH had his meeting and we went to the community hub thing and hung out a bit. Then did English back here, took them all to tap class and am now sitting with cabbage in my bra watching the hail storm outside!

I’ve got various admin things to sort out including setting a start day for therapy eeek

Singingcricket · 11/06/2019 21:25

Ta da:
3 hrs office work (wasn't meant to be there officially but decided to sort dh's office in his absence as it's got a bit out of hand)
walked furries X 3
2 X loads laundry and hung up
took DD to dentist after school
2 X 15 mins boudoir
20 mins sort bathroom cupboard
tried on on-line shopping and packed up one parcel to return
supper basically same as yesterday's but with rice

Singingcricket · 11/06/2019 21:30

"Am now sitting with cabbage in my bra watching the hail storm outside!"

Cag that's a great line - not often seen on here Grin

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 11/06/2019 21:38

Yes was funny enough and then Cagletini stuck her hand down my top and started ripping bits of cabbage leaf.

:o

Singingcricket · 11/06/2019 22:00

Grin Cag that must have been an interesting surprise for Cagletini!

Shattered tonight. DD and I it wouldn't be going on this long one another. Another exam tomorrow probably means another stressful morning.

Quiet on here; hope everyone ok! Link next!

OP posts:
Singingcricket · 11/06/2019 22:07

Eek. Don't know what happened there. Autocorrect garbled that. Meant to say, DD and I hardly speaking to one another.

foxessocks · 11/06/2019 22:11

I'm here, just been a full on day and ds still not himself, he was in our bed most of last night so v tired!

Sorry to hear about the exam stress sc it'll be over soon...won't it?!

Cag ah cabbage in the bra, brings back happy memories (or not!) Grin by the way it worked for me so there must be something to it, hope it works for you. I used to put the leaves in the freezer first ...

Singingcricket · 11/06/2019 22:17

🌼 Launch pad link containing Wednesday's flight plan. Best to read and not download.

G'night all!

OP posts:
Singingcricket · 11/06/2019 22:25

Aye Foxes this week and next! Then it's over. Unless she has to go through the whole thing again and repeat the entire year, which I am afraid is looking entirely possible this year.

Sorry your ds still unwell - you must be exhausted! Brew - hope you get a better night's sleep tonight.

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 11/06/2019 23:08

Ooh freezing them not a bad idea, do you mean properly freeze them or just pop them in for a bit to chill? DH bought two big cabbages so I can risk a couple of leaves in overnight anyway. Had a hot bath etc too but still hurts dammit.

Supposed to be going to a park meet up in the morning but we will see what the weather does!

foxessocks · 12/06/2019 07:29

cag I think I used to pop in the freezer for half an hour or so but doesn't matter if they totally freeze I don't think if it's a big leaf that won't go brittle!

Sc it seems so harsh no wonder she gets stressed!!

Better night last night ds didn't get up in the night and was up at 6.

Singingcricket · 12/06/2019 08:19

Morning all! (Survived breakfast!). Pouring with rain here! Furries refusing to go out the blighters Grin. Two loads washing on and one hung up!

Glad you had a better night Foxes I hope your ds is on the mend today! ! DD (underneath all the spiky bits Grin) actually quite relishes the academic challenge; it's all the other adolescent stuff that's difficult (mainly battles over "control") but yes, so much riding on exams year on year, it is very stressful.

Right, very short morning before the teens descend and the feeding frenzy begins! Decided on home made breaded chicken goujons with potato wedges and salad followed by an upside down cake which was going to be apricot but dd has asked for some other fruit (plum/pineapple?) and I haven't bought or prepped any of it yet! Also going to get ingreds for chilli on Friday and make that tomorrow.

Tally-ho fledglings!

OP posts:
foxessocks · 12/06/2019 10:36

Menu sounds delicious sc I want that too!! We are having some sort of leek bacon and potato pie I think. And dh is revising for his exam and has requested lots of treats from the supermarket today, he is like a teenager too!!

Ta da
Daily routine
Changed some photos in frames - anti procrastination!
Ordered shampoo bar - anti procrastination!

To do
15 minutes bathroom / another room
Dentist
Supermarket
Make some home made cleaning spray (have decided to give it a try as I don't like the smell of many products and Method is so expensive!)

Here's a question ... if you were two where would you hide the TV remote from your big sister??? We cannot find it anywhere and I'm very grumpy about it. I don't even want to put the TV on I just hate losing stuff!!

ChicCroissant · 12/06/2019 10:46

Grin I've, I think I see a new catchphrase for us in that Grin

Ugh. Still slightly less motivated than I should be, got a day to myself today as I've stayed in and I'm just sitting MNetting instead! There have been a few distracting issues but really I need to get on.

I did some minor decluttering yesterday, disappointingly it was inside a cupboard so no visible difference. I like to see some proof!

foxessocks · 12/06/2019 19:48

Quiet on here today, everyone okay?!

I've had a baaaaaaaad day, I'm grumpy and tired and my throat hurts from shouting Sad feeling like a horrible mother!

foxessocks · 12/06/2019 19:50

chic but every time you open that cupboard you'll feel good!

Ps we found the TV remote dh had put it up high to stop the kids fighting over it but since dh is 6'3" his high up is out of sight even to me!!

TooStressyTooMessy · 12/06/2019 22:32

Hello, had a busy few days here and worked today.

Chic, Clutterbug actually says that you should declutter inside cubboards and drawers. She says that one of the reasons for having lots of clutter everywhere is that there is nowhere to put stuff away if drawers or cupboards are full / disorganised.
