Welcome to the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. Quite a few of us have been on here for a while, so for that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't, and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are very welcome!

Every day I will post a link to the activities for "Today" which summarises everything you need on a daily basis if you want to follow the system strictly, but we tend to adapt it to suit our individual circumstances, homes and energy-levels!

Please note that, although Flylady is keen for us to check in to the website, we've recently had a few concerns wrt security, so although there is lots of useful info on the site, it's best not download it or put any of your personal details into the website for now.

More information on getting started available:
here (containing baby-steps!) but please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further qs.

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for starting a routine and overcoming the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - basic routine + more in depth tasks
-Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage).
You can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level.
-Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) let's be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's, and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't suit you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and lots of support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows ( but again, please note we advise only looking at the pdfs and not downloading them ):

** launch pad (general info) here

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home) here

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends) here

** info about zones (explanation of how zones work) [[http://www.flylady.net/d/br/2017/06/11/please-explain-the-zones-6/
here]]

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself) here

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task) here

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!) here

Oh and not forgetting "habit of the month" which for June is : drinking water!

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Callmecordelia · 09/06/2019 19:30

Stilllivinginazoo · 09/06/2019 20:08

I've I was thinking about man children only yesterday.ds is dreadfully incapable, partly because of his issues, but I have been writing him a to do list and if it's clear instructions he ticks off he can do stuff.we are planning to start cooking and gardening this week a bit more and he's slowly get grasp if sorting washing loads, folding pjs and making his bed!!
Lil zoo used love help with washing as younger child, knew various load duals to turn etcand loved scoop the powder.stood in bath and wiped it whilst did bathroom etc
She became this fetid nightmare within last few months

Cagliostro · 09/06/2019 21:40

Well done cordelia 🏆💐

Phew well I feel a fair bit better today, think we have both adjusted a bit more to less BFing, and we got the printer working so have prepared some stuff for tomorrow.

Singingcricket · 09/06/2019 22:49

Had a lovely Sunday entertaining guest (the lovely sort of low maintenance fun guest who is like one of family and doesn't care about state of house and eats and appreciates anything and everything served!). Such a joy!

Bit tired now so will catch up with thread in the morning.

Whit Monday here tomorrow so public holiday! Not sure if that's the case in UK, but have a good start to the week either way fledglings!

foxessocks · 10/06/2019 06:52

No holiday here sc but hope you enjoy yours and glad you had a good weekend!

Ds woke up at 5.30 from a bad dream and didn't go back to sleep because he's all snotty. I'm hoping he's well enough for nursery, I think some breakfast will help.

Due to rain all day here 🌧️

Stilllivinginazoo · 10/06/2019 07:01

Morning fledglings!D's was up fretting about school visit til near 1.i was awake at 4 contemplating my to do.got up 430...

Tada
Wash on
Bleach lav
Early breakfast
Sort a food cupboard
Move bit food stacked on dining table into cleaned cupboard
Empty dead flowers from vase on dining table and put away vase
Remove dirty dishes
Sort out paperwork pile-mostly recycling.put rest away
Scrub cleared dining table
Cleared path to blanket box, sorting 3brc on the way(again mostly bits paper.wtf do I stash these for?)
Discover sticky "melting" fox glacier mint.ever grateful no carpets scraped up and wipe sticky residue
Pick up pot pencils and put round up stragglers that fell out
As Lego has been in situ under table for past week whilst D's plays everyday there's space in blanket box.cupboard understairs has issues as old shelving fixtures are rusty to point I can't get off so just put cheap IKEA free standing shelving in front.problem is mould creeps in and I cannot tackle it properly til old shelves are out (dd1 fiance has it on his to do at some point but he's very busy)have one those damp traps but still smells musty and cannot access properly so whilst most games have no choice reside in there scared add new ones in case they get mouldy(so are stacked in front room)...
Removed new games pile and put into blanket box
Took plastic tubs that was under them and put understairs as crafts inside plastic cannot get mouldy!!
Cleared mini table between side sofa and blanket box putting into away pile and adding shedloads paper to recycling pile
Put away put away pile
Recycling pile into recycling bin outside
Scrub loo to within inch of its life and wipe floor

To do
To School routine
Finish blitz front room
Home blessing
Shed loads washing
Reset girls room to factory setting- or back to his it looked when I posted it freshly redecorated.this will mainly involve getting sticky patches off furniture now and scrubbing lord knows what from cushion flooring...
All but girls room I want done be 11(overly optimistic perhaps) as D's will be climbing walls with stress by then at strangers entering his safe space so we needs activity to keep him distracted then

Must Don tinhat and awaken dd2 and start breakfasts/pack ups now

Hi everyone! Sc your dh's day sounds fun!! You didn't fancy flame throwing today?!Grin

Ds went to nursery and he seems fine , I'm hoping he'll maybe fall asleep on the sofa later, he must be tired...

I had to be really strict with myself when he was at nursery and fully concentrate on work. So I did my daily routine which only took 30 minutes but left the rest. Soon as I've finished lunch it's home bleugh time...

Singingcricket · 10/06/2019 14:18

I did rather Foxes (and wanted to visit d🐎 and see some green) but dh and friend intent on some testosterone "brandishing" Grin and my turn to be home with DD revising. She could be on her own at 15 yrs but it would be rather miserable for her . We don't like leaving her overnight and she wouldn't like that either (house old & v creaky ) also she needs regular "feeding" of good grub so she doesn't binge on too many sugary carbs between study stints!

Teens (in my admittedly limited experience) are a bit like toddlers, in that they don't like being overwhelmed with formal meals but the art is to "just happen" to be making some healthy soup and cheese scones, or cutting up a fruit platter of crudités, or putting a batch of blueberry muffins in oven etc, so they "happen" to be cooling down in the kitchen just as they wander in and everyone can help themselves. Wink

Glad that ds made it to nursery! Hope work not too demanding and you are not too tired!

Hope meeting going well Zoo!

Ta da:
late brunch for DD and me:
fruit platter of melon, abricots and cherries
& omelette with bacon lardons, mushrooms and a few quartered leftover new pots with bit of salad and brown rolls

big ground floor tidy up (much easier and quicker without furries)
bleached sink and kitchen surfaces
empty dw and refill (one more load to do post guest)
rearranged a bit of on-line grocery order on pantry shelves
stripped guest bed and brought bedlinen downstairs to laundry
carried ironed clothes upstairs
sorted out dd's and put on her stairs to take up
carried toiletries up to bathroom
sorted washing
2 loads on

To do:
About to start on boudoir and bathroom
Leg of lamb tonight so need to prep veg

Lisette1940 · 10/06/2019 14:48

thanks SC

Fretting over how to schedule Sunday football at 9 and confirmation classes at 11.

Friday confirmation classes at other church include a compulsory youth club of 2 hours tacked on so he'd be there for three hours and not home until 10pm. Ridiculous.

Arghhhhh.

Stilllivinginazoo · 10/06/2019 14:48

foxes glad he was ok to go
SC ah,the infamous as if by magic as you are passing by offeringsGrin

Tada

Stilllivinginazoo · 10/06/2019 14:51

That's not fair Lisette

Stilllivinginazoo · 10/06/2019 17:14

Tada

foxessocks · 10/06/2019 17:23

sc that's exactly what my mum used to do especially soup!! In fact she did it to my dh on Saturday 🤦 he was studying at their house so he could have dinner with us when we got back and she just happened to have some veg soup on the hob! Said it was brain food!

Ds slept this afternoon so I managed to get my list done. Got soaked for the third time today on the school run. Beef stew and swede mash for dinner, food for winter! Hmm

foxessocks · 10/06/2019 17:24

Your lists today are never endingzoo!!Shock

Stilllivinginazoo · 10/06/2019 18:05

foxes pop some of that in naughty corner please.i got half drowned and could do something comforting!

Little ones having smoked haddock, buttery mashed potatoes with parsley and carrots

Lil zoo hair is washed
Cleared up another round cat sick

Dpjust rang and complained I seemed uninterested in him moaning about work

Bowerbird5 · 10/06/2019 18:52

Leaves St. Clements cake in naughty corner 🍰 it tastes better than it looks. I made it this afternoon. Discovered the back of Everhot bakes quicker than front, damn. Front half perfect. Then I made icing a bit less icing sugar and a bit too much juice. Put cake in fridge to hasten cooling put icing on half and while I went to get knife to cut it the bastardything collapsed. Icing oozed out and top half fell off.

I started to have a “I’m stressed tantrum” and DH announced it was delicious and not to worry.
I had to come home today. Can’t go into detail but stressed out. I think I am on way to knacker’s yard.

Zoo you must be demented by lilzoo.

I used to make mine do their rooms every Saturday morning. This included underbed checking. I randomly checked. No outings, sleepovers, football training lifts etc unless done.
Everyday stuff was washing down, washing put away and beds made.

I equal reimbursing sibling things. At least an attempt to put things right.

foxessocks · 10/06/2019 19:06

zoo I can also add bread and butter pudding to the naughty corner for afters , we've gone full on comfort food today! Grin

Bowerbird5 · 10/06/2019 19:37

DH called me for my tea. It was cold gammon and bubble and squeak. I asked where my poached egg was( discussed at lunchtime) and he said he “ couldn’t be arsed!” Really, to make a poached egg. We even have a poaching pan.

Cags I think you will be right.

SC it has become a little sanctuary. When I can uncover it I am going to put my easel and pencils, 🎨 etc down there.
I was given a small sewing box so that will be filled with thread and needles and I can have a basket of repairs, projects.

Cordelia well done you. Make note to self for next year.

Off to quiz shortly. We won last week. Will have to watch the alcohol as I have already had two gins at lunch time. I had a nap in the deck chair in the 🌞. Later had twenty minutes nap 💤 on sofa.
No ta das except made my bed. Didn’t put washing on as forecast rain ☔️ today. Will do bathroom after DH goes tomorrow. He rarely cleans bathroom.i did it on Saturday.

Hope you have a better day tomorrow zoo. Do something nice for yourself.

Good luck with those difficult logistics Lisette!

You must be exhausted Zoo take it steady tomorrow if you can! Flowers

Bower your garden house sounds like a beautiful Tardis! You can fit so many lovely things/activities in it! Will have to Google St Clements cake. And wishing you strength for school tomorrow.

Like the sound of your menu tonight Foxes and everyone else's! Waves to all!

Not much else achieved this pm as DD needed support with stress/revision /life the universe etc etc. Did cook lovely lamb shoulder with ratatouille though followed by baked apricots with creme fraiche and madeleines. Have just filled dw for third time today and loaded wms for early morning.

G'night all!
