Fledglings awaiting April organisation... and a plan - the Flylady thread

Welcome to the April Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

April’s habit is usually making your bed which is a nice easy one Smile.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to Chic for a lovely March thread as always.

Up because i can not breathe or swallow so full of cold, sore throat etc. Fed up of being sick. Come back immune system.

Foxes our youngest two are just turned 6, and 2. He (2) is not too bad, yet. She, is something else all together Shock
I still have fairly decent control over the 11 year old, i need to maintain this once he is bigger than me. I have an amazing STARE.

Stilllivinginazoo · 07/04/2019 05:40

Ah,the patented mum stareI'veGrin
Hope you got some sleep
I've barely slept with heartburn and a headache
Lil zoo awake already with sore throat, having not gone sleep with the damn thing til gone 11

Aaaaand "d"p is coming alledgedly to help ferry me to shops....

IVEgottheDECAF · 07/04/2019 06:01

Shadycorner · 07/04/2019 07:48

. Hope you all feel much better soon. Flowers

Hills DH can still physically pick up a teenager here but definitely not advised!

Waves to Toostressy and to everyone else!

We should be away with 🐎 but owing to dh work and DD tutoring, we are not yet. Also, DH going down with the flu which is traditional because he only lets himself be ill in the holidays. Unfortunately, this allows me more time to do more Flying.

Have a lovely Sunday everyone!

NobodysDogsbody · 07/04/2019 08:18

Hello! I'm joining this. WFH, following period of stress would like to get home and routine back. Familiarising myself FLY website. Look forward to first productive week in ages!

IVEgottheDECAF · 07/04/2019 09:49

Ta da

Be sick
Feed dc
Sort dry washing
Wash on
Be sick
Clear kitchen worktop
Fill sink
Put away me and dp washing

HillsBesideTheSea · 07/04/2019 09:56

The patented mum stare doesn't work on aspies. Even when you are screaming blue murder in rage I have to physically say the words "I am very angry" or something else so they know the emotion. And even then I have heard him say later "mum said she was angry and really loud and shouting at me, but I have no idea why"

Morning. Slept ok but could have slept longer. Sleep debt has crept to high again. but now I am awake I am about to get up, have coffee and wield fabric sissors and the sewing machine, whilst doing laundry. I mean what could go wrong?

Shadycorner · 07/04/2019 10:30

Hats off Hills that sounds really challenging to handle. Like having to put yourself in your child's shoes X 1000.

Oh no I've sorry you are so sick. Is this illness or pregnancy related or both? Wish you could rest. You deserve a medal for trudging on but please go steady.

Zoo oh no, you're not being left struggling with heavy shopping bags again? Angry Angry. IBS is v unpleasant but that sounds rather too coincidental, or if mornings bad, he could offer to take you later in the day.Angry . Honestly, if I lived nearer, me and the furries would be round like a shot to give you a lift!

I must confess I haven't started Flying yet. Thankfully house was "blessed" yesterday not by me. We've all had fruit and eggs and bacon. DH and I have been watching Andrew Marr with coffee. DD has explained how she extracted DNA from a kiwi fruit in biology (something I didn't do in school many moons ago!) Church Lenten thing this evening. To do in between: long dog walk, soup for lunch, mound of washing, clear kitchen, then back to boudoir which is a hideous pit.

Take care everyone x

Shadycorner · 07/04/2019 10:33

Oh and my stare isn't very convincing but I do a good raised eyebrow! Grin

Stilllivinginazoo · 07/04/2019 10:45

SC I don't even want to think about my room

In one of his "helpful " but not listening moments "d"p has ordered a new tumble drier.to come Tuesday...I'd told him had planned go town early with zoolets.thats now out window as have to be here 9-5 waiting, plus as side house complete tip of crap blown around and kitchen units not removed by council(that I haven't got round to chase up) means I have move all living room furniture to get tumble drier thru house AND clean and clear space current tumble dryer sit indd2 will have to help with moving stuff as me and my back have fallen out again
All I seem to do is moan these days.sorrySad

Round one shop done, fridge /freezer stuff put away

Check D's done maths work I set,he's now on Minecraft and lil zoo taken charge computer to "draw"

Off to second round shop in a mo

TooStressyTooMessy · 07/04/2019 11:44

I need to work on my mum state!

Busy afternoon coming up for us here so have tried to have a lazy / organising morning.

Time to start lunch now. How is it always time to start preparing the next meal Confused?

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 07/04/2019 13:06

Argh that is frustrating I hope the new dryer is worth it!

Mum stare, I dunno if I have one really. I just get shouty.

I went to the gym today which was nice, first time on my own just fiddling around with the programme and making sure I took note of what weights/reps I do on each machine. Then spent ages trying to sort out my online membership which keeps locking me out, and that took so long I missed the bus so I walked home via Tesco for some veg etc, and now I ache a lot.

TooStressyTooMessy · 07/04/2019 15:10

Well done about gym Cag. I also get shouty Blush.

What a hassle that you don’t need about tumble drier zoo.

OP posts:
TooStressyTooMessy · 07/04/2019 15:33

Hope you’re feeling a bit better Ive. You must be exhausted Flowers.

I might also try to work on my raised eyebrow SC. Perhaps that is an option if I can’t get the stare right Grin.

Big welcome to NobodysDogsbody Smile.

I must remember that for teenagers then Hills that picking them up will not be an option Grin

Big waves to everyone else.

foxessocks · 07/04/2019 17:11

Hope everybody ok sorry for the sickness, the unhelpful partners ...Sad

I think I've said this before but does anyone else still feel like they are learning how to be an adult?! I've just done roast leg of lamb for the first time in my life and it hasn't gone to plan, I'm very frustrated as it cost about a third of my budget for the whole week Shock and I wanted it to be special! (It's only for the four of us so I'm not trying to impress anyone!) Wish I'd asked mil before hand now she always does lovely leg of lamb.

I'm kicking myself because with hindsight I see what I've done wrong and it's obvious. Humph.

Ta da
Some shopping
Some gardening
Daily routine
Dinner cooking (and hopefully will be salvaged...)
Apple crumble made ready to go in oven (I used the wrong recipe for this too thought it was my usual one!)
Put dc bags upstairs as it's holidays now
Half an hour of work while dc were in the garden

Off to see if my roasted veg has at least not let me down...

foxessocks · 07/04/2019 17:12

PS hills yes maybe don't try to pick your ds up! Grin mine is getting pretty strong as well so it's only a matter of time before he can wiggle out of my grasp...

TooStressyTooMessy · 07/04/2019 17:30

Still waiting to feel like an adult here. I fear it never happens Grin.

OP posts:
Stilllivinginazoo · 07/04/2019 17:30

foxes I am numerically an adult, but never claimed to be a competent oneGrinI mess up all the time!don't take hindsight advice.hindsight always makes you feel cross, frustrated or guilt!
Hope the meats still good,as legs lamb are expensive

On picking up DC front.i can just about pick up lil zoo,dd2 is bigger and heavier than me so no chance there.ds is underweight so he's just over half my weight, but I feel like I might trip as his legs dangle in the way if I put him on my hip(favoured way carrying everything) which is probably why I have bad hip

Added more recipes to possible menu plan(got basics today on a whim, cos cereal, milk, fruit and veg they scarf down in any form, frozen veg and bread/rolls etc.plus box cat food and litter and loo rolls)
Putting last shop away in progress

Tea tonight for little ones- planned for meatballs, cauli and pasta.lil zoo informs me wants something cold as her throat very painful and she's hot.ds having palpitations and flushed face(suspect dad not showing up has thrown him into panic mode today,he don't do change if plans well)and agrees with her

foxessocks · 07/04/2019 17:31

toostressy I am starting to wonder...my mum says she still doesn't feel like an adult all the time! I thought I'd hit my thirties and I'd suddenly know more stuff automatically. Like domestic stuff especially. Apparently not!

foxessocks · 07/04/2019 17:34

X post zoo yes it's so expensive which is probably why I've never cooked it before!! Just thought it would be a nice treat and we should have loads of leftovers for curries etc. I think it's looking better now...fingers crossed.
Hope your dc feel better soon, poor them Sad

Lisette1940 · 07/04/2019 17:39

Sorry to hear so many are not well on here. On school two week break so have escaped for 3 days to nearest small city down the road. Flying suspended until Weds but did little in zone 1 last week.

foxessocks · 07/04/2019 19:00

Urgh. Another evening, another stressful bedtime and I have left dh to it as the dc (well dd in this instance) are doing my head in and I need to stop shouting and actually form a strategy or this will be a looooooooong holiday...

I'm going to Google parenting a headstrong five year old tips!!! Anyone got any?!

Stilllivinginazoo · 07/04/2019 19:44

I remember a lot of countdowns foxes
"We are tidying toys away in five minutes, two minutes etc" stopped some flashpoints here as they knew what was coming.firm voices (raised if I was losing it) and always follow through with any consequences I've said.didnt always work mind youGrin
Depends what your meltdowns are about really

Lil zoo has powered thru two box tissues and now almost finished snotting up a whole loo rollShockwhere is all this snot coming from??
She don't sleep much/well if nose blocked so may be a prop eyes open with matchsticks tomorrow(esp as I have to panic clean before new tumble dryer comes Tuesday)if anyone has matches can you leave them in naughty corner please?(I promise not to burn thread down, but I don't promise anything where dp concernedGrin)

How are you doing I've?
