Fledglings awaiting April organisation... and a plan - the Flylady thread

Welcome to the April Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

April’s habit is usually making your bed which is a nice easy one Smile.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to Chic for a lovely March thread as always.

I’ve long given up on pretending we live in a nice house :o although it’s much much nicer here than in our private rental. I’m just not houseproud. Do need to put in an Ikea order though. Since we don’t even have a wardrobe :o also want to get more of the basket things for the Kallax, they hide a multitude of sins.

(Kallax autocorrected to Kalashnikov... definitely don’t have one of those and I’m not sure they have matching baskets anyway...)

We didn’t get any decluttering done yesterday, DH wasn’t well but did get a bit of laundry sorted. I went to my first class at the gym though - aqua fit :o it was fun! Definitely a good class for me as I do have to be very careful with the health stuff.

Tidying must be enforced though as DD has a friend round for a sleepover.

Shadycorner · 11/04/2019 08:10

Morning all!

DH has just driven off to meeting leaving everything he needs for it (books and boxes of files) in front hall and he hasn't come back or replied to texts or calls. My car is in the shop and anyway I don't know precisely where he's going. Guess I need to be ready to get a cab when he discovers everything's missing.

In the meantime:
kitchen clean up
boudoir
laundry
Easter parcels to godchildren and nephew/nieces

Have a good one everybody!

Shadycorner · 11/04/2019 08:25

Congrats on the Aquafit Cag and arf at Kalashnikov! Grin

True Hills but I suppose it's a small respite from worrying about crashing out this Fri with no deal which would have been hairy in the extreme. I've no doubt the rapaciously ambitious will be flexing their muscles in Westminster again now though.

Back to Flying ...

HillsBesideTheSea · 11/04/2019 08:30

We were NEVER going to crash out without a deal. It would force the breaking of the Good Friday Agreement and no one wants to be the people that triggers the return to the troubles!!!! It was just used as a scare tactic for political manuevering. Bastarding Politicians

TooStressyTooMessy · 11/04/2019 08:30

Morning all. Another work day for me so I’ll catch up at lunchtime. Happy flying.

Well respite as in one night's reasonable sleep! I actually had forgotten about this Friday's deadline. Halloween seems appropriate somehow - and that just seems ages away. I just about cope with life in week long blocks! I really should have weekly, three monthly and year long goals to get anything done.

Online shopping arriving today, playdate and ironing. Ironing will turn into folding.

ChicCroissant · 11/04/2019 08:46

A Kalashnikov would certainly get the job done Grin

I noticed sun through the windows this morning and though - laundry! Stuffed a load of shirts into the machine and only after it had started, noticed the frost on the top of my car. I hope everything dries outside!

Had croissant and decaff coffee, will attempt to get preteen into shower and different pyjamas today. She may even be tempted outside as we attempt to get the game disc for the equipment I bought yesterday. But one step at a time Grin

So far this morning - dishwashing, laundry. Story of the day, I think!

HillsBesideTheSea · 11/04/2019 08:46

Ah sorry Lisette - we started the day with arguments about politics here

Lisette1940 · 11/04/2019 08:46

Cag Kalashnikov 🤣

Shadycorner · 11/04/2019 08:47

Aye Hills but I had a lingering worry that we would crash out unintentionally through mismanagement/incompetence in such a fevered atmosphere. And it's surprising the number of MPs who are still bigging that option up (even though it's not really an option any more).

Lisette1940 · 11/04/2019 08:50

No stress Hills. I am tired of people tearing into the room to switch the TV to the news, babbling incoherently. I think this is why I'm aiming for the cottage look in the house - somewhere idyllic away from it all. Mind you the garden is looking wild at the moment. Grass needs mowing.

Shadycorner · 11/04/2019 08:53

Have a good day at work Toostressy

Hope you find the game disc Chic

Lisette I seem to only be able to manage my life hour by hour, minute by minute atm, according to whatever Sky news happens to be reporting at the time. Confused

Descending now to laundry of gloom. Could be a while!

Strong Brew for those in need.

Lisette1940 · 11/04/2019 08:56

SC off to make very strong coffee! I've just realised I need a flying routine for the garden.

Lisette1940 · 11/04/2019 10:41

Tadas:

Cleared the medicine boxes in kitchen, ready for disposal at pharmacy.
Need to restock with plasters.

Found three rolls of foil and numerous green bin bags Confused

Cleared out old mugs. Tidied cleaning caddy.

Still in PJ's.

Cagliostro · 11/04/2019 12:39

Nothing achieved today at all. Other than writing an email because DS has been rejected by CAMHS again 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

ChicCroissant · 11/04/2019 13:40

So many loads of washing I've lost count and the basket is nowhere near empty Blush

Weather has improved so it is drying. Had lunch, vacuumed hall and stairs thoroughly.

DD has indeed got changed and showered, worrying sneezing again though - hope it's not another cold but at least she can rest at home.

Mammoth kitchen clean under way. Have also washed all baskets in the house.

Lisette1940 · 11/04/2019 17:48

Anyone familiar with cleaning smooth pewter? Specifically polishing it. I've used washing up liquid and water to clean it.

Stilllivinginazoo · 11/04/2019 18:08

Sorry Lisette I've no idea...

TooStressyTooMessy · 11/04/2019 18:20

Hi all, back from work now.

No idea, sorry Lisette.

Glad you got wrist looked at zoo and that it isn’t broken.

Angry at CAMHS refusal Cag.

Yes, God only knows what will happen with Brexit and the implications for the Good Friday agreement are terrifying. What a shitshow, whatever your point of view on the whole thing Sad.

Laundry is indeed never ending Chic.

Big wing flaps to Hills, SC, foxes and everyone else.

Lisette1940 · 11/04/2019 18:32

The pewter was a wedding present from the Boston relatives - it's reproduction Paul Revere, an American Revolutionary who was a silversmith. Perhaps a seance is in order....

Cagliostro · 11/04/2019 18:34

Not sure why really other than the fact they are massively short staffed and underfunded I suppose. They suggested we apply for an “early help plan” which I’m fine with so I emailed the relevant people, I think the doctor will do it too but I know there will be a delay for that so may as well get the ball rolling. Sigh.

I was in such a shit mood today I almost sulked in bed, then I thought I might sulk in the pub instead... so I went to the gym! Actually do feel better as well.

TooStressyTooMessy · 11/04/2019 20:28

Glad hey have another plan Cag and well done for going to gym!
