No delayed exit for clutter - March Flylady Thread 2019 for fledglings!

What would a combo of exit and clutter be, clexit? Exclutter? Perhaps we should just stick with declutter ....

Welcome to the March Flylady thread, we’d love to have you with us as we chat and work our way through our houses in March. Flylady uses the zone method of cleaning so we’ll be focusing on a different area of the house each week – we will post daily links to the Launch Pad on the Flylady website which gives all the details of the current Zone, daily missions and babysteps.

Newbies are always welcome so feel free to join in at any time. Flylady does recommend decluttering your house first, so if you are not ready for the cleaning routines yet it’s fine to focus on the decluttering bit – add the babysteps in if you wish.

Man I’m knackered! Had a nice time volunteering although rowan was a stroppy madam so DH took her home and didn’t get to the barbers. So he will have to go tomorrow which interrupts our tidying day but hey ho.

I also have a huge bag of next size up clothes, and a few more for current size, for her as there were too many for them to store. So I’m very pleased about that as of course with DH not being able to work we will have to watch the pennies.

He survived.mainly cos I left him in bed til nearly time lil zoo ballet class, then he took her.he couldn't understand why zoolets scattered upstairs on his return and attempts to explain hes been a "bit grumpy" aka nasty arsey bastard were met with you are horrible when you are tired/I'll (erm I snap when you take the piss out if me or I get asked for something when I've just sat down and am in pain) at that point I could feel urge to hit him with spade was overpowering so I deployed best weapon with zoolets in house.a book.stuck head in and ignored him til lunchtime.resisted urge to add crushed glass to cheese and felt shoulder relax sec he out the door.zoolets resumed occupation of upper and lower floors...
Felt exhausted so had a nap.woke up to ds freaking his cross(wooden one that is part his sensory soothing stuff he strokes)is lost.turned house over, can't find it.just walked in dark and rain with dd2 and torch hunting the paths across fields to co op we went earlier in a walk(25 mins each frigging way) case it fell from his pockets no sign of it😢he's distraught and pacing....
Hoping someone at church can direct me to where came from(lady there gave him it)

I suspect cereal tea on cards.ive lost will to live for todaySad

Sanguineclamp · 16/03/2019 19:00

Oh dear Zoo that all sounds very wearing indeed Flowers

Lisette1940 · 16/03/2019 19:32

Cereal tea is very comforting. I draw the line at porridge though.

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/03/2019 19:47

They're currently eating huge bowls rice Krispies with sliced strawberries n banana, sunflower seeds and flakes almonds

ChicCroissant · 16/03/2019 19:59

That sounds nice zoo. You are a saint.

Science Fair (The Big Bang in Birmingham) was OK, but not as good as usual IMO. It's free for families on a Saturday if anyone is interested, on every year in March. Lots of defence-related companies there today.

All shattered here, sitting with laptops and The Voice on! Back later!

Ds went to that with school on Wednesday which naturally he thought was fabulous because it got him out of his least favourite day in the timetable Grin Priorities GrinGrin

Turns out that I have lost the ability to hold my tongue and people are getting responses like:

well if you picked up after yourself and helped keep the place tidy I would get around to instead of having to do the same thing again and again.

and

did you really just mean to tell me you hope I was grateful you did ? I was under the impression you were a capable adult and part of helping the house hold to function.

But my personal favourite.
If you see an empty surface and you leave a thing on it, expect to be looking for the thing on your bed, empty surfaces are meant to be empty!

There might also have been various mutterings about getting a fucking grip and not being a fucking idiot. I can neither confirm or deny this.

Unproductive day because work overtime. Hopefully will have a more productive day tomorrow. No breath holding or promise making though.

Grin

on a complete aside custard made with almond milk is weird tasting and it ruined my stewed apple Sad

Stilllivinginazoo · 17/03/2019 07:13

I don't like almond milk custard hills it just has a weird mouth feel
And I think it's reasonable to add I often spout your quotes but I confess there are occasions it's less polite languageBlush

holly1501 · 17/03/2019 08:52

Re Cereal tea; my cop out is beans on toast Grin

My mum served me a almond milk coffee last weekend. She gave me prior warning I may not like it. I thought it was OK actually.

Didn't do any further housework done yesterday other than make tea/wash up/antibac kitchen tops. I got my photo album yesterday. Stupid me didn't think to run off some photos onto a memory stick and actually print some photos off whilst I was in town Angry now I have a photo album with great urge to put photos in it but no photos. New years resolution still not ticked off.

Beautiful morning here. Ds is already making noises about going to the park, and I agree with him on that thinking. Not sure what chores will get done today. I may strive to run the hoover around downstairs sometime this afternoon.

Ta das

Fed ds

That is all.

foxessocks · 17/03/2019 09:59

Beans on toast, Weetabix, random tin of pasta served on its own in a bowl...all my go to options when I can't be arsed!! The dc love it!!

Off out into the fresh air this morning as it's nice and sunny. Done the daily routine which is good, it'll be nice to come home to a relatively tidy house!

Meet0nTheledge · 17/03/2019 10:09

One of mine hates beans to the extent he can't sit at the table with anyone else eating them . He won't eat eggs or jacket potatoes either but luckily is old enough to make himself a sandwich now and will also eat Super Noodles.

Hi,

I have just joined through the app this morning, desperately searching for support and motivation. I have been on and off with flylady for years but I'm at the point now where I need to get serious. I used to do the bingo through facebook years ago and I found that great because of the constant interaction and challenges but that seems to have disappeared mostly or people are not in my time zone. Is there anything on here that is like that etc? Thanks in advance

HillsBesideTheSea · 17/03/2019 11:47

Zoo i encourage less polite language. Totally needed sometimes. We do sarcasm and gallows humour a little too well here BlushGrin

HillsBesideTheSea · 17/03/2019 11:49

WRT almond milk not all are equal. Ds loves the aldi one. I hate it with a passion. But as he is the one that needs it most I just cba to make 2 batches I can live with that. The aldi one as a really really strong flavour.

ChicCroissant · 17/03/2019 11:52

Hi nikki, there's no bingo on here but there is on the Flylady UK FB group, I'd recommend that one.

Have done some laundry (trying to take advantage of the lovely drying day and ignore the dark clouds gathering) and run the dishwasher. Cooked breakfast. Will badger about homework after lunch!

See you later!

@ChicCroissant thanks, I have already requested to join and have followed this thread and hopefully between the two I can get motivated!

My plan for the next few hours is 15 mins declutting them 15 ironing and repeat. My sink is steeping in beach as we speak!

ChicCroissant · 17/03/2019 12:07

nikki did you answer two questions for the FB group? I saw a thread on there that said they don't always show up if you are on a phone. If you have trouble let me know.

ChicCroissant I have just cancelled request and applied again answering both questions

Cagliostro · 17/03/2019 14:45

Afternoon all.

Zoo is it you who does overnight oats? Any tips please? I bought some oats for flapjacks anyway, and thought I might try it for the baby’s breakfast, as I CBA cooking a tiny amount of porridge. Is it quite “forgiving” ie can I just put anything in with the yoghurt, also how do I know how much oats compared to yoghurt? I have ground almond and was thinking of grating some apple or something. Ooh I also have cinnamon...

Have got a fair bit done although most of it wasn’t what’s on the to do list. Oops.

Stilllivinginazoo · 17/03/2019 14:48

hills ah,we love a bit if gallows humour
Lil zoo had Aldi almond and spat it out as lumpyConfusedsecond attempt wasn't successful either.vile is what I'd call it in polite company!!alpro cashew is sweet but yummy.we like alpro milks, almond breeze acceptable.she takes Asda own.i found it oddly strong like the Aldi one tbh.try keep it all rotating to avoid allergies.hazelnut milk hot chocolate was very popular.shes not big on coconut milk on cereal.says makes cereal taste weird!

Church today.ds was given two replacement crosses.one to hold and a keyring version we have fixed to zip on coat pocket so he can have that out n about other one for home.they were very kind and told him not to worry if he loses it he can always ask for anotherSmile
He enjoyed Sunday school and vicar came into doorway of hall to bless him so he could still partake as being in church to busy/loud and that was lovely for him to feel properly part of things still.i made him get milk and a biscuit and we sat after 10 mins so he is at least briefly in social situation.he was given a hug by another member and I think that's good for him as he's so isolated and lonely...

Pop shops for cat food, glad stuck head in heron foods as lil zoo can tolerate occasional lacto free stuff and they had Muller lacto free corner 4 packs for £1.09
Narrowly missed furious hailstorm
Lunch done
Shop put away
School uniforms in wash
Dd2 bedroom tidying
DS on Minecraft in room
Lil zoo watching labyrinth on tv

Stilllivinginazoo · 17/03/2019 14:54

Xpost cag
Tbsp oats, enough to cover of milk, water, fruit juice, stir and add touch more.soak 20 mins minimum.over night makes it sweeter and creamier(covered in fridge).it may need loosening extra liquid or we add dollop of yogurt.dry fruit I'd add night before to plump up.ground nuts/grated apple I'd add at the end.cinnamon/vanilla/mix spice/ginger all work.could even add little cocoa powder for chocolatey version(I've seen one add cherry's or dry cranberry to that for black forest version)
It's very forgiving.if goes to stuff after soaking more liquid.ive pulled it back being too loose extra oats(ground or ready break work best if serving straight after) or ground nuts/seeds.
Mine love grated carrot and apple, bit spice/vanilla,girls like sultanas and say makes it carrot cake flavour!

Cagliostro · 17/03/2019 14:58

Oooh thanks! I’d never have thought of half of that. So it’s actually milk it soaks in, and then you can stir in yoghurt the next day? And the apple etc?

As a family we are totally shit at breakfast. Cereal fiends the lot of us. I have also bought chocolate chips to make the banana pancakes again though.

Stilllivinginazoo · 17/03/2019 15:25

Soak the oats in milk, water or apple/fruit juice then add yogurt at the end along with grated fruit(I've found add grated fruit whilst soaking it sometimes browns and zoolets poke it suspiciously thenGrin)thinking about it I bet my D's would like mashed banana added with tahini(he loves mashed banana and tahini or nut better on toast)and some choc chips and coconut!
