No delayed exit for clutter - March Flylady Thread 2019 for fledglings!

What would a combo of exit and clutter be, clexit? Exclutter? Perhaps we should just stick with declutter ....

Welcome to the March Flylady thread, we’d love to have you with us as we chat and work our way through our houses in March. Flylady uses the zone method of cleaning so we’ll be focusing on a different area of the house each week – we will post daily links to the Launch Pad on the Flylady website which gives all the details of the current Zone, daily missions and babysteps.

Newbies are always welcome so feel free to join in at any time. Flylady does recommend decluttering your house first, so if you are not ready for the cleaning routines yet it’s fine to focus on the decluttering bit – add the babysteps in if you wish.

And a warm welcome to Nikki!

Lisette1940 · 17/03/2019 16:33

Thanks SC having a great day. Roast lamb dinner.

foxessocks · 17/03/2019 17:24

Hi Nikki!

Hope everybody is well. Zoo once again you are a font of knowledge on cookery and nutrition! Smile

Had a good day today, got outside to the market but didn't get to the park as it started hailing Confused. Dh got home earlier than expected from work so I went for a run and ran my first 5k! (Exciting times! Grin). Did a tiny bit of work (not enough...)

This evening dd is in charge of dinner , she has selected mini burgers from her cookbook and all I have done is chopped the onion and grated the cheese and she has done the rest! Not bad for 5 I don't think. Just about to start frying them (which I definitely won't be getting her to do!) and I've made some sweet potato wedges to go with them and she wants cucumber sticks too.

Definitely the house feels more organised again this week now I'm back in the routines, amazing what a difference it makes. I'm also trying to do as much as I can earlier in the day as I find it so hard to motivate myself as the day goes on.

IVEgottheDECAF · 17/03/2019 18:09

foxes how did you get organised in a week Sad

holly1501 · 17/03/2019 18:20

Heya all, and hi to Nikki

Good on dd making the Burgers for tea foxes if that were my 6 year old boy he would have just put a pizza in the oven if he had his way. Far too obsessed with Pizza that boy is Hmm

Been a bit of a lazy day here. We went down the park and then for a walk along the river this morning. This afternoon ds and I curled up and watched labyrinth which was randomly on television. Tea has been made and eaten. Need to wash up that now, sort the kitchen out and bath ds.

Ta da

Washed up breakfast dishes
Rhubarb method the kitchen tops
Stripped the beds
Done two loads of laundry
Made the beds
Hoovered downstairs
Made tea

Stilllivinginazoo · 17/03/2019 18:47

I want pizza and burgers(have neither in house at mo,nor all ingredients to make them😞)
Foxes that's brilliant get her in the kitchen making more than just cakes.dd2 and D's both make great frittata in oven,dd2 cooks lovely light omelettes too.all make cakes.i should work on the savoury recipes really, tho dd2 did some at school til gave up cooking in her GCSE options

Dd2 had her first painful period start yesterday.i had hoped she escaped the zoo family trait, but alas it's caught up with her I fear.spent most day hot water bottle in the back of her joggers and was quite sorry for herself.better today but after stressful few days she's very flat and miserable.think some self care in order so we are watching her face TV shows and doing face pack tonight

Helped lil zoo muck out her side of the girls bear pit of doom,dd2 tackled her side.binbag and 2hours later it's much, much better!!(floor and surfaces.but sadly HUGE pile laundry)

Washed all their hairs as all got flaky scalps and wanted give them a good run/massage with shampoo

Put recycling in bin now winds dropping(pointless before it's constant tip over)black bin tom so did littertray in case I oversleep and they're early tom!!

Wading thru washing second loads on

Tea for Littlie's ready now- baked white fish with pesto, cucumber sticks and lettuce.breaf and butter(as requested)

SC after I had dd2 I found a growing interest in child nutrition and started reading lots of books(nutritionists of the time like Patrick holford and Lucy Burney)and it went from there really...the idea we build our body from what nutrition we get fascinates me.i follow the food medic on Instagram and continue to read and learn.i wasn't smart enough or well enough (MH)to make a career of it after left school.bit long in the tooth to start now I think,so zoolets and grandzoolets will be benefiting from my efforts!!

foxessocks · 17/03/2019 18:58

Ive well as organised as it ever was! Make of that what you will Grin

Cagliostro · 17/03/2019 19:00

Impressive 5yo cookery!

I really want to do more cooking now, have got some ingredients to try a couple of things this week.

We are all tired and grumpy today

foxessocks · 17/03/2019 19:00

V true zoo I think little ones like doing cakes because they can do all of it, not usually any knives and things involved. But the burgers were great because she could mix it all herself.

foxessocks · 17/03/2019 19:03

And never say never zoo you could definitely still have a job in that field, you've clearly got skills, I expect they are skills desperately needed in many places!

Sanguineclamp · 17/03/2019 19:34

It's at this point - at the risk of sounding like a broken record - I come on the thread and recommend Dorling Kindersley Quick & Easy Childrens Cookbook and their Children's Cook Book (in fact all of their cook books for DC are excellent!). DD learnt to cook with them and we still use the recipes sometimes because they cover "proper" cooking and techniques just really well photographed and set out in easy steps etc. Very good for a visual learner (yes I know those sorts of learning categories have been debunked now but ykwim!).

Busy day with various church/St Pat's things. No Flying done at all, apart from DW emptied. Cheats supper = rotisserie chicken from butcher + leftover tomato pasta from last night as too tired to do roast. Yum to roast lamb Lisette (that was what we were meant to be having).

Yes exactly Foxes hear hear! Never say no Zoo!

Why hey to first 5k Foxes wishing you many more! Star

Sorry dd2 suffering Zoo Sad.

Great Flying Holly!

Noodles always a winner Meet!

Bleugh to every kind of milk though Hills and others Envy (not envy)

Wing flaps to everyone else!

HillsBesideTheSea · 17/03/2019 20:14

No sc what was BLeurgh was the state of the bathroom. What the actual fuck do boys do in the bathroom to make it so vile?!?

It is pristine and shiny and smells of awful perfume that every. fucking. company. insists on adding to their cleaning products. Never mind they are bloody awful for asthmatics and anyone with respiratory issues...

And dammit the boys are not going to be told that the bathroom is back in use until I have had first use. So nerh. there is another toilet in the house don't worry they will be fine for an hour or so

holly1501 · 17/03/2019 20:16

Ta da

Washed dishes
Rhubarb method kitchen tops (again)
Bathed ds
Bleached the loo in the bathroom
General tidy up in living room
Took some laundry upstairs

That's me done for the day now.

Sanguineclamp · 17/03/2019 20:20

Meant to ask what is this about Flylady on Facebook Chic? (Nosey emoticon)

And what is Flylady bingo Nikki?

Great that your dd is cooking like that at 5yrs Foxes your culinary talents must be rubbing off! Meatballs are good to do with a group of DC I find - even teens believe it or not - having insisted on meticulous hand scrubbing beforehand!

We are boring Marmite toast and boiled egg people for breakfast btw.

DD stressing tonight about school tomorrow Sad. Academic pressure really starts ramping up Lenten term.

Sanguineclamp · 17/03/2019 20:23

What is Rhubarb method Holly?

IVEgottheDECAF · 17/03/2019 20:26

Omg i want marmite

Sanguineclamp · 17/03/2019 20:28

Sympathies Hills! DD is rather over fond of sickly sweet scent currently! Bleugh! Can't stand it! Or scented candles or air fresheners for that matter! Can't even walk past those in supermarket without barfing but sense of smell ramped up something awful in pregnancy and now menopause!

Sanguineclamp · 17/03/2019 20:29

Are you lacking iron/B12 I've? Could be a sign.

IVEgottheDECAF · 17/03/2019 20:30

I have no idea but i am lacking marmite

holly1501 · 17/03/2019 20:33

Rhubarb method is the nicest smelling cleaner I know of. Probably the reason why I'm always anti bac'ing my kitchen tops Blush It's an eco friendly anti bacterial cleaner. You can find it in tesco and sainsburys.

I love marmite. Marmite crisps are like a delicacy to me Grin

holly1501 · 17/03/2019 20:34

I wrote tesco and sainsburys then realised you are in Belgium aren't you.

Sanguineclamp · 17/03/2019 20:37

Yes but make fairly regular UK forays Holly ta for recommendation!

Sanguineclamp · 17/03/2019 20:41

Oh forgot to say lovely your ds was given replacement wooden crosses Zoo!

Cagliostro · 17/03/2019 21:00

FWIW sc I think it’s daft that they debunked the learning style thing, even if it’s not so cut and dry as that, it is still an incredibly useful thing to think about and it’s plainly obvious that different people learn in different ways FFS. Some kids learn loads by reading, others can learn from being read to, others learn by doing something themselves etc, duh.

Bloody love Method cleaning stuff
