No delayed exit for clutter - March Flylady Thread 2019 for fledglings!

What would a combo of exit and clutter be, clexit? Exclutter? Perhaps we should just stick with declutter ....

Welcome to the March Flylady thread, we’d love to have you with us as we chat and work our way through our houses in March. Flylady uses the zone method of cleaning so we’ll be focusing on a different area of the house each week – we will post daily links to the Launch Pad on the Flylady website which gives all the details of the current Zone, daily missions and babysteps.

Newbies are always welcome so feel free to join in at any time. Flylady does recommend decluttering your house first, so if you are not ready for the cleaning routines yet it’s fine to focus on the decluttering bit – add the babysteps in if you wish.

OK, more laundry done and on outside line, ready for an ironing binge tonight rockstar lifestyle, more laundry in machine as I type.

Have not changed own bed as cannot find bottom sheet - will postpone that until tomorrow.

Out this morning, have done errand for DH. Got large coffee at same time, so a worthwhile morning there.

Have now eaten lunch, will make cup of tea. Wondering whether to wash up or tidy main room. Could do both, of course!

Back later

Afternoon everyone, my eldest is off school today with a horrible sickness bug, the house is feeling icky so will have a good clean later. It’s cloudy and windy by us so it’s feeling cosy and we’ve put the fire on. It’s been nice to have some time with my eldest and littlest on their own. Hope you’re all well😊

Sanguineclamp · 11/03/2019 15:48

Hope your eldest feels better soon Icarriedaturnip

Boudoir progress v e r y slow.

foxessocks · 11/03/2019 15:57

I did it! (Thanks for the link sc I'd remembered it mostly and what I forgot was the magazines which I don't have anyway)
Ta da
Hoovered
Mopped
Dusted
Polished mirrors
Emptied bins
Changed dd bed
Changed towels and changed throws
Decluttered 15 minutes bathroom / ds room
Decluttered 5 minutes dd "hotspot" in her room (pile of random crap she leaves on chest of drawers!)
Cleaned backs of both toilets
School run

Just checked recipe for tonight - steak stroganoff and then I think I'll make an apple crumble too thanks for the suggestion zoo Grin need to try and fit a bit more work in while the dc are watching some TV too.

House looks and feels so much better, I definitely needed to get back into the routine!

foxessocks · 11/03/2019 15:58

sc but I'm not recovering from surgery and I wouldn't recommend that home bleugh to someone that was! So sit down! Grin

Sanguineclamp · 11/03/2019 15:59

Bravo Foxes! Star. You put me to shame!

Sanguineclamp · 11/03/2019 16:03

Yes - thank you - but must confess Foxes that I am not doing the things I could do sitting down either such as : spice sorting, calendar, veg chopping. Every time I started doing something today, the phone rang! Six calls so far - all chatty ones - aargh! (And that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!).

Sanguineclamp · 11/03/2019 16:03

I am doing "work" work now (when not Mnsnetting!)

Stilllivinginazoo · 11/03/2019 16:42

Cagliostro · 11/03/2019 17:46

Ugh sorry about the sicky bug I hate that lingering smell and the air just feels clammy and gross :( hope recovery is quick.

I’ve not done much practical stuff BUT major major anti procrastination done, made a deal for the sale of a rare game we had and they are coming tomorrow so we get the cash and also he’s throwing in a game from his shop. Obviously the money is much needed ATM due to DH being on sick pay and our holiday is looming. But also this item has been sitting on our shelves for YEARS taunting us for our lack of actually getting on with it and selling.

Stilllivinginazoo · 11/03/2019 18:18

Assume it's not a game you loved then cag
Well done for antiprocrastinating!!Star
Salmon cakes in oven, beanburger made and chilling
Done some CAMHS work with D's ready for tomorrow(types of negative thinking and which affect us)
Hope everyone's having peaceful evening

Cagliostro · 11/03/2019 18:37

Nope it’s dungeons and dragons related YAWN! A wad of cash and a new board game from the top of my wish list is far more appreciated :o

Need to tidy up before they collect though 😳

Stilllivinginazoo · 11/03/2019 18:59

cag😁

Aaaaand light bulbs blown in front room and we've not got a spare I can pinch from elsewhere in house....

HillsBesideTheSea · 11/03/2019 19:37

Hello PMPY bloody nice to have you back. Am still regularly name changing but not quite so much after the great name mix up thread Grin I can believe your little is 8years. Have you seen how big Ellie's big one got Shock Can't say that ds is much behind either The toad is already 3 inches taller than me and heading towards 6ft at speed! When did we get old?!?

HillsBesideTheSea · 11/03/2019 19:43

Bugger zoo hope you find a bulb

Today is not going to plan. Actually life is not going to plan. Spent 3hrs in work on my day off, ds forgot an important school trip form which a today deadline, And my to do list is bloody breeding like rabbits every time i turn my back on it.

Needless to say I am over caffinated, over tired and wondering why on earth I keep saying yes to things I WANT to do when I never have time for all the stuff I need to do this is what being a grown up is like really isn't it

Sanguineclamp · 11/03/2019 20:13

Day not going to plan here either. 2.5 hrs in office, then felt tired, now have stomach bug. Envy (not envy).

HillsBesideTheSea · 11/03/2019 20:14

WHat the fuck were you doing in the office SC what crazy definition of rest does that come under?!

ANd sorry about the stomach bug - totally not what you needed with healing stomach muscles.

Sanguineclamp · 11/03/2019 20:21

S'ok Hills wasn't in office itself, just home office, and only walked over to "proper" office once to collect printer cartridge and come back (v short distance). Just sitting typing/correcting on-line, not dashing around or anything, promise, scouts honour I am being sensible.

holly1501 · 11/03/2019 21:07

Hey all. I'm gonna join in with you all in this thread. I work Monday to Friday and I find I'm sort of fighting a losing battle with the chores and playing catch up on Saturday or Sunday morning. I do find a good list is good for my motivation though so this thread seems ideal for me. And a bit of chit chat along the way Smile

Tonight I have

School run pm
Done weekly grocery shop
Made tea
Washed dishes
Wiped over kitchen surfaces
A bit of ironing
General tidy up downstairs

TooStressyTooMessy · 11/03/2019 21:29

Hi all, fast moving thread this month!

Thanks for post-party Gin SC Smile.

Belated happy birthday to kitties zoo SmileCakeBear.

Re. home bleugh, I’ve said on here before that there is no way in a million years I could do all of that in an hour. It takes at least 2 and realistically 3-4 hours.

Also feeling as if I should go back to basics. I keep thinking of the organised mum method but the problem is I think it is decluttering that would make the most difference.

It depends on how organised I am feeling with a calendar. Definitely use my phone calendar the most but do also like a visual calendar. I have a week to view one which I think is great as it helps with perfectionism and trying to get the whole month done at a time. This year I am trying a family organiser with a column for each person. I tried it years ago and didn’t get on with it, mainly because when the kids were tiny all three of us pretty much did the same thing. Now though there seems to be more to remember with school and stuff and since my two are at different schools (infants and juniors) then so far I am finding the family organiser working well.

Welcome pushmepullme if I haven’t already said it!

Will post again later as have not read last page of thread yet Blush.

TooStressyTooMessy · 11/03/2019 21:48

Oh no SC, hope bug is not too awful.

Star to foxes for home bleugh and * for game sale.

So annoying about lightbulb zoo.

I don’t have a control journal either but donhave some success with the home routines app when I bother to use it.

Welcome holly Smile. Lists and chit chat basically sums this thread up I think Smile.

Just got to get laundry on then I am done. With gymnastics on a Monday we are always a little late with evening routine and I have not fully unpacked the gym bags but the basics will be done.

Night all.

ChicCroissant · 11/03/2019 21:48

Welcome holly!

Cagletini demonstrated several times today that she knows the word “butt”, as shown by pointing. Hmm

Another small win, as I read to the Caglets at bedtime. She is finding it very hard to switch off lately, and I’m determined to be stricter with sleep hygiene again as well. I’m pretty sure she will need to increase her melatonin soon, she’s been on 2mg since starting in August 2017, and she has grown a lot since then.

This is also meaning the anxiety is starting to creep back in at bedtime and that seems to be spilling over into the day now, she had what can only be described as a panic attack earlier about death, and DH had to bring her home. We snuggled up with masterchef instead.

I am very sleepy. The baby is not.
