No delayed exit for clutter - March Flylady Thread 2019 for fledglings!

What would a combo of exit and clutter be, clexit? Exclutter? Perhaps we should just stick with declutter ....

Welcome to the March Flylady thread, we’d love to have you with us as we chat and work our way through our houses in March. Flylady uses the zone method of cleaning so we’ll be focusing on a different area of the house each week – we will post daily links to the Launch Pad on the Flylady website which gives all the details of the current Zone, daily missions and babysteps.

Newbies are always welcome so feel free to join in at any time. Flylady does recommend decluttering your house first, so if you are not ready for the cleaning routines yet it’s fine to focus on the decluttering bit – add the babysteps in if you wish.

Could you light a candle zoo?

Toostressy I was very strict this time as was out me off home bleugh before is doing so much in one day is exhausting! So I set a timer for 10 minutes per activity and if it wasn't done I stopped. Hoovering I made sure floors were clear but only did the main parts of the room not moving loads of stuff out the way, dusting I did the main areas of as many rooms as I could do. And bed sheets I just did dd. So I did the lot in just under an hour as bins and mirrors took less than 10 minutes for example. It was much more manageable knowing that I would only do 10 minutes each time then move on.

Dh off work today as I have my uncles funeral later on. So he's going to take dd to school and I'll take ds to a toddler group this morning so dh can study. Really just want to get today over and done with tbh.

Morning all and welcome Holly Smile

Not a massive amount of flying done yesterday, but did take a big bag of assorted rubbish out of the bathrooom so a small win!

Hi hills lovely to ‘see’ you. I have no idea when we got so old - Ellie’s biggest is a grown up!!

All a bit crap here on the home front. Too long to go into and I don’t want to even think about it.

Off to catch up with the thread Smile

HillsBesideTheSea · 12/03/2019 07:56

Cag is she one the slow release or the 1 hit melatonin? If it is the slow release the only dose is 2mg. ds has been on this level since he was 9 ish and he is now heading towards 6ft. There is not another dose. BUT he was found to be vit D deficient and the inclusion of Vit D tablets have made he 2mg more effective. If it is the one hit there is a possibility to increase it but the advice you will get is to not increase unless you absolutely have to because the options for increase is very limited and if you increase too soon then you might run out of options quicker. Melatonin is an odd one dosage wise. Speak to your specialist about it though, as they will know the full picture but just a heads up.

stress is getting to me and my sleep is being affected. I am starting to fall into the nopes not doing anything cos i have far to much and i don't know where to start.

Power 3.
Up drop
stuff at school
get to work

holly1501 · 12/03/2019 08:14

Hey. Thank you for the welcomes Smile

This morning I have

Fed ds

Washed breakfast dishes
Wiped over kitchen tops
Made beds

I will heading out the door on the school run and work in a min.

foxes I hope today goes as well as it can for you.

zoo I second lighting a candle. Perhaps go for a walk too.

Cagliostro · 12/03/2019 08:28

It’s circadin prolonged release according to the box.
I really really don’t want to increase it for the reason you’ve said! But I thought it was inevitable, I keep seeing things about kids much younger than DD (she will be 12 in June) on higher doses. However the fact you’ve managed to keep DS on the same dose is very reassuring.

I’ll definitely get some vitamin D for her, thank you. Also we have been really lax with all the sleep hygiene rules lately, it became too easy because the medication was working regardless and things like reading to them was beyond my energy levels. However last night we turned the TV off earlier. And she was asleep earlier after I read to her last night. We’ve started getting them up earlier anyway due to being “back to school” (for newbies - they are home educated) after a long break. And this morning she woke before seven.

I’ve also been wondering about an evening routine in general anyway, including a time to have a quick tidy up like checking for any clothes (mainly socks) they’ve left lying around etc. So I’m thinking we will just have to have a set earlier time the TV goes off like we used to, we have become far too dependant on it being on even as background.

Cagliostro · 12/03/2019 08:35

Thinking of you foxes

I am still snotty and sneezy, hoping I feel better later though as I’m meant to start “teaching” the Caglets and two of their friends, we are working through a study book together about vikings. Then when one friend (who is arriving this morning, I should really get ready) leaves I still have to do English with the other one and DD (they are the older two).

Sanguineclamp · 12/03/2019 08:51

Morning all!

Fixed I hope today brings some comfort; as much as these things can Flowers

A warm welcome to Holly! We need newcomers to keep us on our toes!

Zoo I've been wracking my brains for Atticus Finch quotations - iirc there were some crackers in the film - but none particularly suitable for cats. Agree about lighting a candle and how about either saying [[https://www.ecatholic2000.com/pray/prayer133.shtml
EternalRest]] or getting ds to adapt it for feline use?

Sanguineclamp · 12/03/2019 08:53

I'm so sorry Foxes; I don't know why your name was auto-generated to Fixed. Very odd! Thinking of you today.

ChicCroissant · 12/03/2019 09:08

foxes thinking of you today, I hope it goes as well as these things can Flowers

Very windy here still. Wrong day for a hair appointment really but I booked it months ago!

Today - so far, school run, dishwasher running and will be finished later this morning. Will get a load of laundry on as well before I go out shortly. I'll be back around lunchtime again, have a productive morning fledglings!

OP posts:
TooStressyTooMessy · 12/03/2019 09:37

That’s interesting re home bleugh foxes. Will be thinking of you today Flowers.

zoo, do you have any pictures of Atticus? If so maybe you could get a photo out and or look through old photos. Or if not draw a picture of him? Then you can talk about your memories. I think the going for a walk idea is nice or somewhere you can talk about him. Candle idea is also lovely.

So today I am going to start yet another probably futile decluttering attempt the Clutterbug love your hone challenge. It’s a bit like the Flylady missions and seems just to have a few easy (ish) tasks to do in each room. She has a website.

Also must get the kids more involved. Paper reward charts just don’t work for us. Does anyone use anything electronic?

Cagliostro · 12/03/2019 12:55

Nope not for the Caglets, I have tried electronic to do lists etc but I always lapse!

Argh I am a stressy stresshead. DH didn’t get an interview for a job he should really be a dead cert for and it’s perfect, work from home etc. No clue what we will do now. He’s officially still employed but on SSP now as he’s been off since new year. Can’t think what job he could do that wouldn’t massively increase pain levels. Sitting at a desk not an option for this reason.

It was different when he had to stop work before (prolapsed disc) - I was able to go and get a job myself so he was the SAHD. But then I got CFS/fibro/pots, and lost my job because of that. Aaargh

Cagliostro · 12/03/2019 13:15

I may have panic tidied a bit 😳 we also need the table clear for history as there are four kids. As opposed to English when it’s just two of them and they can perch on the end :o

ChicCroissant · 12/03/2019 13:47

Tables - it's the flat surface I think, ends up as a catch-all for things that should not be there. I feel I am constantly clearing the dining room table.

Nice morning here, busy but productive. Rain is terrible though! Not helping with the need to dry laundry and not fill the house with it instead

I think I've looked at Clutterbug briefly before - I'm a cricket (piles) I think. Should look again as she did seem good.

Catch you later!

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 12/03/2019 13:54

Yup, our table is THE WORST. It’s awful. Blazing hot spot, constantly.

Game sold. Now happily reading the instructions from my new one that he included as part of the deal.

Stilllivinginazoo · 12/03/2019 14:24

cag agreed dining table is inferno here most of the time.fills up as fast as clear it!!

icarriedaturnip · 12/03/2019 14:57

Our table gets covered in crap too, and we have loads of little tables dotted around that also get full up too.

My eldest is still peaky but feeling a bit better, will be off to pick the twins up in a bit then getting dinner on, have no idea what we’re going to have so might be a pub meal tonight

foxessocks · 12/03/2019 19:20

What a day Sad but at least the family actually all seemed to get on despite some being estranged for many years - sad it takes the death of their brother but there we go. It was all very surreal though. And I can't get the image of my auntie and cousin standing by the coffin at the end of the service just not wanting to leave out of my head. SadSad

This thread is a lovely cosy safe place to return to. Obviously have told dh briefly how it was (he had to do school run and stuff so couldn't go) but I can't tell him much or I'll just cry again.

Have barely eaten today, I must go and eat.

Cagliostro · 12/03/2019 19:20

Huge huge hugs foxes well done for getting through it. Please be kind to yourself xxx

foxessocks · 12/03/2019 19:42

Thanks cag I also didn't realise until today that he was just four months away from retirement. And had just bought a car to do up ready to start entering into all the classic car shows. My dad is going to do it up instead as he thinks he wouldn't have wanted it to get rusty in the garage . Sad sorry, am rambling.

About to eat a fishfinger sandwich, put the TV on and tomorrow is a new day , deep breaths!

ChicCroissant · 12/03/2019 19:45

Sending you lots of hugs foxes, it does sound quite a stressful situation for you all even if it went well.

OP posts:
Sanguineclamp · 12/03/2019 19:45

Oh bless you Foxes it sounds so sad. Take it steady tonight. Flowers

Stilllivinginazoo · 12/03/2019 19:48

A comforting fishfingers sandwich sounds perfect foxes
(And chocolate or wine for pud?)
Sending big hugsFlowers

foxessocks · 12/03/2019 20:25

Thanks all Flowers
Zoo going to have some leftover apple crumble for pud (once I can convince dh to make Brew and bring it to me!)
