Welcome to the February Flylady thread, we’d love to have you with us as we chat and work our way through our houses in February. Flylady uses the zone method of cleaning so we’ll be focusing on a different area of the house each week – we will post daily links to the Launch Pad on the Flylady website which gives all the details of the current Zone, daily missions and babysteps.

Newbies are always welcome so feel free to join in at any time. Flylady does recommend decluttering your house first, so if you are not ready for the cleaning routines yet it’s fine to focus on the decluttering bit – add the babysteps in if you wish.

Blunt cag

SassitudeandSparkle · 17/02/2019 10:55

Morning fledglings! Bit of a no-go here at the moment, DD is now fully immersed in a bad cold, DH has spent all morning on the phone/laptop trying to rearrange travel (which he has) and I have done nothing apart from sleep in. Well, I say sleep in - I was still up at 2.00am trying to get DD to sleep!

So will start the bacon and eggs soon (our weekend breakfast treat) as a bit of brunch. DD still insisting she'll be well enough to go out later Hmm but I am slightly doubtful. Hope everyone else doesn't catch it!

Lots of ironing to do to prepare for the business trip Sad, I thought I might get away with it yesterday! Back later, nothing wrong with a morning off fledglings

Meet0nTheledge · 17/02/2019 10:58

Well, I'm with you there Sass, I'm still in bed. Didn't sleep very well, and no plans to go out till this afternoon. Half term now so not feeling as pressured as usual to do chores, although I am working tomorrow. Need to do a food shop later.

SassitudeandSparkle · 17/02/2019 12:12

Is anyone else looking at the posts on the Flylady FB group now and thinking 'I think I know her' Grin

I may start sending friend requests, I won't be offended if anyone declines though so don't hesitate to do so!

I will happily accept fledgling friends :o

I have hidden upstairs for a lie down with Netflix on the iPad. ABs are working thank goodness but they are making me feel sick.

Had a “stern” word with DH yesterday about not trying to ignore his feelings on all these diagnoses. He is feeling the pressure (from himself) to just get on with it. He doesn’t need to. I have of course had the whole grieving for what could have been thing, when I first got ill, but I didn’t have anything particular that I was suddenly completely losing - I was never incredibly active or anything, whereas for him running is as natural as breathing so to speak.

Housework: zero.

TooStressyTooMessy · 17/02/2019 12:49

Ooooh I need to investigate this Facebook group! Cag Flowers, I agree 100% with what Hills and others wrote about grieving. He may also just not be ready to grieve for it all yet.

Hills, what you wrote about relative visits is exactly what I need to hear for when we see my parents Smile.

Sass, you could always namechange and ask advice on MN or can you change enough details to not make it recognisable? I know they sometimes means you don’t get accurate advice though.

Belated happy birthday to your DS tibni.

I’m in Ive Smile.

I need to:-
Pick kids up now from a party
Reset laundry
Figure out something to do with DC this afternoon. Wondering if I can brave homework or similar.

Stilllivinginazoo · 17/02/2019 13:41

Wash on
Food shopping
Wash now in drier

Hip hurts todayback hurts and just want sit and vegetate.not helped by Simpsons day on channel 4.....

Cagliostro · 17/02/2019 20:57

Ooh I missed Simpson’s day 😭 we do have some DVDs we’ve not watched yet though (I look in Cex every so often and buy any of the series we don’t have)

I achieved fuck all for most of the day, but then managed to drag myself to the shop and back despite sky high anxiety.

DH actually said just now, can we get an exercise bike. I was holding off on pressuring him as I didn’t want to do the whole “moving on” thing, but actually he is reeeeally suffering with lack of exercise (seizing up etc) so it’s the ideal solution for now as it’s exercise without the impact. Plus the rest of us can use it which will be useful.

And I bathed the baby.

Bowerbird5 · 17/02/2019 21:14

I was up and about early just before 9. Nipped to M&S on the way to church. Mass , quickcoffee afterwards then to the station then choir. Extra singing as we are going to a competition soon. We only do two or three comps a year. It makes us worked hard to improve.

Ta das
Kitchen cleaned.
Dishwasher on
Washing on.

Made Roast Guinea Fowl last night. Bought it out of the marked down bit to £5.25. So left overs today.

No school tomorrow yeah! Did some decluttering yesterday.

Cagliostro · 17/02/2019 22:42

So today I took one of DH’s cocodamol instead of my antibiotic 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

SassitudeandSparkle · 18/02/2019 00:19

Shock Cag are you feeling OK on the wrong tablet? Did you take the antib as well, they always make me feel sick so you have my utmost sympathy there. Bower that sounds posh, Roast Guinea Fowl, I bet that was nice. Good luck with the competition.

Zoo you are still doing more than me even in your half-hearted mode Grin Stressy I was hoping that the family stress was over but they were emailing about the next gathering before this one was even over! It is nice to see them though. Def investigate the FB group, it is nice.

I got distracted by the internet in general then, so will wave to Ive, Meet and anyone else I've missed, and give you the Launch Pad

Time for another glass of wine before DH has a very early start courtesy of a collapsed airline and a change of travel plans!

Cagliostro · 18/02/2019 08:40

I didn’t really notice any difference tbh 😳 thankfully it was a low dose but I’m annoyed as it also means I did miss the AB dose too (it was DH who realised my mistake a few hours later). Also involved a panicked message to the drug lady at the breastfeeding network :o as of course I’d fed cagletini since taking it, but all fine. Just typical of me at the moment, I think there is just a big swimming pool of treacle where my brain should be!

Just had a message from SIL clearly hinting at a visit 🤔 May have to actually tidy

Stilllivinginazoo · 18/02/2019 10:17

Well a very brisk start turned into a more relaxed stroll.vague apologies all round were issued.
Bread was acquired

Zoolets are now fed and watered and dehovelling bedrooms

I really feel I should be an example so about shovel and skip mine
It's mainly a dumping ground tbh,so won't be much rubbish just lots head scratching and trying find homes for things!!

Cagliostro · 18/02/2019 10:59

Managed a bit of a tidy. Yay. Cleaned the glass doors too.

Stilllivinginazoo · 18/02/2019 12:25

Managed accrue large carrier bag rubbish
So
Cleared and wiped under bed
Located surfaces
Located floor around 2sides of bed(end bed has shelf unit and obvs top end against wall)

In my quest I found bag clothes waiting lil zoo grow into.jeans fit and now in machine freshening up,along 2tops which will go in light wash which is up next!

Sorted thru 8 carrier bags.we have one spare bottle shampoo and 6 bottles of conditionerGrinbut my hairbrush is still missing in action....

Found spare pillow which lil zoo has claimed, along waterproof pillow protector as kits sit on her pillow (encouraged) and leave snot, occasional poo/muddy foot prints so that was part of the you can have it deal is protector on at all times!

Been playing relatively loud music --drowning out Hamilton dd2 playing whilst studying, which I don't mind but isn't motivating to meGrin to power me thru.its made HUGE difference and I've discovered buried jewellery I'd forgotten I even had(not fancy or expensive but I do love my toe rings!!)

Zoolets have generated 5loads washing along one of towels.secinds in machine, first in drier.aim get thru them all today

Lunch is on-site kale and spring onion mash cooking for lil zoo,D's and me to have with corned beef and carrots(in oven roasting)dd2 having Cajun spiced chickpea patties with garlicky roasted courgettes, peppers and red onion and sweet potato chips

Tonight's dinner-oven baked mushroom and green bean risotto with side roasted broccoli and squash😋

To do
Maybe bit more in my room
Wash all floors

Planning chill out in my less cluttered space and read rather than sleep as feel I will benefit more mentally from that

Stilllivinginazoo · 18/02/2019 12:26

I have no idea why my phone felt need to add site to lunch is onConfusedBlush

Stilllivinginazoo · 18/02/2019 14:42

dinner things washed up
Surfaces wiped
Dining table clear and clean
All lower floors washed
More wash dry fold and put away
More washing in dryer

Now watching film with the girls and about eat fruited teacakes with butter😍

SassitudeandSparkle · 18/02/2019 15:25

Cag I'm glad there were no problems with the one-off med Grin

zoo nothing wrong with reminding family of the expected standards of behaviour. Anyone who can finish a bottle of shampoo and conditioner at the same time is truly gifted (I got that from a meme) and I've never met them. Our own bedroom is a bit of a dumping ground tbh and needs serious work although just ironing the ironing pile would see most of the issue solved

DD still suffering with a cold. We are staying in today and playing on the Wii, she's still in her pyjamas. Our next session is almost due!

Catch you later!

OP posts:
Stilllivinginazoo · 18/02/2019 16:06

All zoolets laundry done and put away
All lower floors washed

Really need to sort thru their stuff see what's outgrown/not worn so I can tell what's going to need topping up soon

But for now I'm laying on my bed with LED tealights on reading for an hour.decadent behaviour, but it is the holidays!!Grin

Cagliostro · 18/02/2019 16:35

I miss the Wii! It was ten years old though and barely working. It had a good life.

Nice visit in the end and it is quite tidy in here. And SIL gave me a lift down to DS’ doctor app. He’s been referred to CAMHS for ADHD assessment 😱😱😱

Stilllivinginazoo · 18/02/2019 17:02

cagGrinat Wii eulogy.we have one that's guitar hero mainly..dp bought that part for me along with aerosmith,Metallica and the Beatles discs.zoolets love a touch headbanging and strummingGrin

Nice you got a lift.how do you feel about D's being assessed?were you expecting it?(sorry if that's a stupid question)Flowers

Cagliostro · 18/02/2019 17:08

I was expecting more of a fight and thought I’d have to go via the occupational therapy dept for his sensory issues but the Dr could clearly see it in him anyway. So I guess this makes the process quicker.

Aww I enjoyed guitar hero we had that on our PS2 which was our console before the Wii. We have a PS4 now which we all adore not least because we also have Netflix and stuff on it :o

I made a scary phone call about my own referral and that was good since they are now mailing the correct forms which should make things quicker (they’d originally sent me the autism screening questionnaires. I’m already diagnosed autistic. 🤦‍♀️) The secretary even offered to put in two copies in case I mess it up. She knows me too well, it seems :o
