Since we were all so chatty and supportive on the last thread, let's keep it going. We're not all mums, not all organised, but we're getting there!

For new joiners: check out www.theorganisedmum.blog for the basics of Level 1 and Level 2 jobs and then come and chat about it!

Haha @DustyDoorframes I was thinking the same thing! Looking forward to the time when I can have a washing day 😁

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 22/11/2019 10:02

It definitely gets easier! Barring any dramas I do 4/5 loads a week. Two darks which are mainly uniforms and jeans etc. One coloured which is mostly T-shirts and similar and then one whites of school shirts. One extra load is rare but no bother.

I don’t iron! I hang uniforms to dry on hangers, t-shirts on an airer in front of a radiator and anything that can go in the tumbler dryer does.

We all put our own clothes away when doing Sunday evening prep for the week.

It really does get easier! I do remember the days when washing was an ongoing project and my basket was never empty.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 22/11/2019 10:11

So what’s everyones ‘room of choice’ today? Mine is our dining room. I’ve got a carpenter coming in this weekend to fit a shelving unit in an alcove and that will be the room finished! I can’t wait!

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 22/11/2019 13:21

I think my 'room of choice' will be the whole house. Just trying to get the jobs that I've missed through the week done 🙈

DustyDoorframes · 22/11/2019 18:32

I had a KIT day at work (with baby I tow) so have done nothing at all on level 2. Did clean the loo and keep the laundry going though, and made the kids' beds. Hopefully DP has made ours!

dinosaurtin · 26/11/2019 08:17

Hello 👋 I’ve had a good few days were I have stuck to my cleaning days - I have Saturday and Tuesday as my days off. Although yesterday I didn’t actually clean my living room, instead I sorted out my curtains which I’ve been meaning to do for at least 12 months. My DD3 is very ‘helpful’ with cleaning at the moment and I just couldn’t be bothered to clean up after her as well as doing the actual cleaning. I had a good win last night, I cleaned the bathroom whilst DC were in the bath and then cleaned the bath whilst they put their pjs on. I used to do this when they were small, I’m going to restart this again as it’s so nice to go into this morning.

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 27/11/2019 13:21

Great job @dinosaurtin ! I definitely think getting the curtains sorted is something Gem would approve of, I sometimes use it flexibly to get long awaited sorting done! I was at hospital yesterday so bedroom got a bit neglected, as did level 1 jobs. My mum changed my bed for me while looking after Dd though! 😁

DustyDoorframes · 27/11/2019 15:07

Hope everything was ok at the hospital @Littlehouseinthebigcity!
I am reeling with victory, I just got 30 uninterrupted minutes with sleeping baby and 3YO absorbed in playmobil. Level 2 jobs done! I shall sally forth onto the school run, smug in the knowledge that my hall is resplendent.

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 29/11/2019 21:33

Yes thanks @dusty! Just a check on an ongoing condition. What did people do today? I did not do outdoors! Seems pointless in winter.

DustyDoorframes · 29/11/2019 23:05

I'd have loved to do outdoors, I'm dying to plant up some winter pots, and clear away some very grotty ex-veg plants. DP was about though, so we gutted the utility room which had clogged up with things nobody could think where else to put. Very satisfactory.
Outdoors seems an odd one- 30 mins every 8 weeks will not keep a garden ticking over!

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 30/11/2019 08:14

Ooh winter pots is a good plan! Thankfully we gutted the veg beds a few weeks ago. But I do agree it's odd to include outside once every 8 weeks, I guess it's about tidying the outside space rather than actual gardening but then it includes weeding.
Good job on the utility! Our spare room is our dumping ground. I'm desperate to sort it but will need an extra pair of hands to help with the girls so will do it after Christmas when I can have my mum around!

dinosaurtin · 01/12/2019 19:41

Good jobs well done little and dino as my DM would say! I do bedrooms on a Sunday, I’ve only just done them. I don’t normally leave the cleaning till so late and now I remember why, it just seems to drag. I don’t do the garden as an extra day because I love to garden and am out in it often. I did some winter pots on Wednesday and now have cheery colour by the front door.

DustyDoorframes · 01/12/2019 20:09

@Littlehouseinthebigcity our spare room is ALSO a dumping ground...
We will get onto it at some point. Possibly 2025.
We had friends over today and I realised the flaw of having living room day on a Monday when you want it looking at it's smartest for weekend visits. Ho hum, just means we got ahead for tomorrow!

DustyDoorframes · 04/12/2019 14:45

Grinding to a halt here. I got 10 mins done on the living room on Monday, 5 on bedrooms yesterday (and only half the level one stuff) and not started on the hall yet today. My level ones are done though!
Baby naps are coinciding with 3YO meltdowns...

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 04/12/2019 16:13

This week has been a bit of a fail for us too! Struggling to stay on top of level 1 let alone get my level 2 jobs done - kids naps never seem to coincide! Tomorrow dd1 is at nursery so hoping to get a bit more done

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 05/12/2019 22:06

Whoop! Got all my kitchen jobs done today bar cleaning the windows and the window cleaner came today so the outside got done instead 😂

DustyDoorframes · 07/12/2019 10:50

Hah, brilliant @Littlehouseinthebigcity !
Well, over the week (and not in one go) the bedrooms got their 30mins, and so did the kitchen, but the living room got 10 minutes, and the hall and Friday focus didn't happen at all.
We've people coming for lunch today so the living room and hall are getting zapped by dp while i breastfeed and MN...

dinosaurtin · 09/12/2019 12:50

Last week was really hard work, I managed level 1 each day but only a little of the room clean. But the hard weekend that I was expecting and was making me find last week so hard emotionally, arrived and left without being horrendous- why do I build these things up so much Confused So I’m planning on starting this week as I mean to go on. DH is away all of next week and I am determined not to make my life any harder so if I will keep on it. I shall report back later with what I get done today. Good luck dusty and little with your weeks.

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 10/12/2019 13:17

@dinosaurtin I always do that - build stuff up in my head which turns out not to be as stressful in real life! Yesterday I managed all my jobs which was great but don't think there's a chance of it today, and I hate having to dry the bedding inside in this weather

DustyDoorframes · 10/12/2019 22:02

Yes, changing the beds is definitely weather dependent in this house! Although DS was sick in the night so his bed did get washed...
I've only got level 1 done so far this week. Maybe 10 mins on bedrooms today? Ho hum.

DustyDoorframes · 06/01/2020 16:14

Anyone trying to get back in the saddle today??
So far I have made the beds, glared at the living room, and thought hard about the loos. It WILL happen!!

SheepSocks · 06/01/2020 21:04

I'm following it! Back in it today and was mega proud of myself for doing half of it before I left for work!

dinosaurtin · 06/01/2020 21:57

I'm back on it Dusty and Sheep, we had people staying for what felt like ages over christmas and I just stopped doing more then the basics. House looks so much better now. It's the change of mindset I like, I am just so much tidier Grin

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 07/01/2020 09:20

Trying to get back on it! Manage the level 1 jobs most days which at least makes the house presentable, but need to get better at doing level 2 as well! Also, dd has had a bad tummy which has increased my washing significantly and makes it feel like I can never win 🙈

DustyDoorframes · 07/01/2020 12:56

Yes, the washing is just impossible! @Littlehouseinthebigcity bet if you really fully included it in the 45 mins you'd be well over every single day...
I did manage both level 1 and 2 yesterday, (by 23:45. Ooops) but still on laundry today. I banjaxed the spin on the machine by overloading so spent at least an hour trying to sort that out before realising I just needed to take something out. Could have got level 2 done twice in that time!!!
