Flying Resolutions for the Fledglings

Ok. 1st of January.

It's a long running thread, but we like new people. Just be aware if we seem cliquey it is simply because some of us have known each other for many mumble mumble years.

Respect. We won't tell you what you are doing wrong if you don't tell us. hint if you tell us we are doing it wrong we will tell you you are wrong

Babysteps. If you are new start here. If you dropped off the fly wagon, start here. Basically start here.

Missions. Do these, if you start with the babysteps you will end up doing these during the course of the month.

Decluttering - you can't clean clutter. But experience has shown that fly lady is good for routines but there are other methods that work better for decluttering. Feel free to mix and match.

Emails - feel free sign up to them. Most of us don't because there can be a lot, ergo whilst you are welcome to sign up for them; we don't generally recommend it. especially as one of the babysteps is to delete them anyway

Linkies. We will be linking to the launch pad from there you can get to babysteps, missions, flight plans etc etc. Be aware that some don't update until the date that they are on (eg looking at the links before midnight on Monday will not show the information for Tuesday iyswim)

MogTheSleepyCat · 04/01/2019 12:13

Afternoon all,

Zoo - I love meteor showers; they are a stunning reminder of what a wonderful world we live in.

Bower - what a lovely surprise! I hope you have a great time together.

Foxes - I am in awe of you if you can leave the house within an hour of getting up with DC in tow..

Meet and Hills - I would love to have a poinsettia, but they are very poisonous to cats. One of my DCats loves to chew plants so it is out of the question sadly

Cag - money worries are the worst. Hope things look up soon.

I finally managed to get an appliance repair chap to come out. He confirmed my WM was beyond help and shifted it out into the front garden for me, before then going out to the garage and bringing in and installing the WM we brought from our old house.

A scrap collector has taken old machine, so that saves me a trip to the dump.

Repair chap has also suggested not to waste money on Calgon or the like as it is overpriced and and not as good as old fashioned soda crystals. I now have 1/3 packet of said crystals going round in my machine to give it a good refresh before the laundry production line can continue.

I will never ever tempt fate again by doing laundry on New Year's Day....

Stilllivinginazoo · 04/01/2019 12:31

mog sorry I proverbially pissed on your cornflakes over the washing new year.pleased to hear you had a spare in garage.i try to do a soda crystal clean once a month been rather lax lately
I've had my washer, dryer and fridge four years,so starting to twitch over possible issuesdryer is a bit iffy, but hanging in there.i will genuinely cry it dies on me.replacement isn't an option on financial grounds at mo and this house is soooo cold washing doesn't dry well in airers(and has been known to develop aouldy some rather than dry properly)
Right no good hiding in bed try warm up.i need get going again

To do
Make lunch-tuna sausages, kale and spring onion mash and roasted carrots with thyme n black pepper
Do something with front room
Ditto kit gen
Get laundry piles from zoolets as we have items trickling down the stairs again...

Stilllivinginazoo · 04/01/2019 12:32

Someone explain to me how veggie sausages can be autocorrected to tune sausages???Angry

Stilllivinginazoo · 04/01/2019 12:33

FFS tune sausages!

Stilllivinginazoo · 04/01/2019 14:32

Quiet here today!!
Still tada ING to keep me going as can look back what I've achieved..

Zoolets washing sorted into piles
Third load in drier
Fourth washing
Whites soaking in napisan

Lunch done,washed up
An age stuck on phone chasing up missing recycling collection I flagged up Tuesday and it's still got lids up and I've nearly a BINBAG full of more in kitchen...
"At some point" will be collected.well cheers for that matey!Hmm

Hob cleaned
Surfaces wiped
Cupboard fronts wiped
Floor swept

To do
Clear some piles random crap off dining table
Locate computer table surface
Sweep and wash floor

Not sure how much of this will actually get done...

Tonight's dinner
Minced beef with parsnip, swede, onion and thyme and dumpings..proper comfort food for a cold day.dd2 has finally turned a big corner..top set now ok,only bottom front still aching but managed eat a veggie sausage(doused in ketchup to soften it) at lunch.was slow and looked sore but first "solid/chewy food" she nearly cried was that chuffed as was well and truly fed up of soup, mash and ready break interspersed with fruit puree and yogurt!!

EustaciaVye · 04/01/2019 15:05

I have been looking at kitchens. So all I can see is everything wrong with my current one...

MeetOnTheledge · 04/01/2019 15:33

Mog, yes, cats are the main reason I got the artificial ponsettia instead of a real one. Mine don't normally chew house plants but too risky. I have to keep my peace lily at work now too. Sorry about the WM. I'm a bit nervous about ours as it is 10 years old and getting noisy, and we have already replaced microwave, fridge freezer and dishwasher in the last 18 months.

Zoo how lovely to see a meteor shower! I got up too late.

Stilllivinginazoo · 04/01/2019 15:49

meet/mog one of my girls will have a Chew at ANYTHING.spinack(bad for kidneys) she ran aground trying to nibble D's cactus!!
I used have a boyfriend(dd1dad) that cat ate/drank everything but jelly and Ribena!he was partial spider plants and adding black pepper as suggested deterent made them so tasty ended up eating whole thing!!gherkins, burgers with mustard, all veg,bananas...
He was especially fond of cheese and crackers and baked beans and chips with vinegar!!

Am sorting one of the bedrooms which is serving as my 'office' as well as ds's little office space for books, art stuff.

Wing flaps to all.

MsForestier · 04/01/2019 17:40

God you lot are busy!

Stilllivinginazoo · 04/01/2019 18:25

Little ones furiously ramming dinner.aid and abetted by knowledge I've made a pudding...couple less than lovely pears chopped with crumble topping with oats and dark chocolate chip(dairy free) in

About start a "mushroom mince" replica for dd2 dinner.my portions co weed in foil in low oven waiting to eat with her

Yet more washing done...I can see at least another 3loads and I've not done any bedding..I swear it's breeding whilst they're not at schoolHmm

tibni · 04/01/2019 19:34

@Stilllivinginazoo is that the mince in jack monroes book? I've been thinking of trying to make that.
Took ds respite late afternoon so I have stripped his bed, hoovered and had a glance through his wardrobe to remove outgrown or hated clothes.

I'm doing ok - although being a huge coffee drinker I'm firmly in the naughty corner as I saw a pot was generously provided this morning. Managed to clean bathrooms, hoover upstairs and brush hairy stairs (hairy lab that doesn't go upstairs but his hair does)

Very aware that next week will be test when I'm back at work.

Hope everyone is ok

HillsBesideTheSea · 04/01/2019 19:53

ta da
work
a few errands

I have to be honest I have the grumps. Like proper grumps. I was doing so well too. Ah well. Embracing the grumps and avoiding people to do a few things. Hot water bottle and pain killers mostly tbh.

You have all been really busy on here (and RL) keep it up. Linkies later I hope!

Dismantled handheld dyson, washed filter and all component parts - ick! So. Much. Dust.
Cat litter trays picked out
Recycling sorted and put out ready for morning
Assembled my new hoover - treated myself to a cordless Shark in the sales and OMG it is amazing! Really lightweight and so easy to move. And my goodness, does it love eating up all the dirt!

Stilllivinginazoo · 04/01/2019 20:22

tibni wasn't aware it was in her book,I've been doing it for years!just finely chop any mushrooms and continue recipe as if browning mince but with mushrooms dd2 loves it and I'm fond of it too

WheelyCoteClaus · 04/01/2019 20:26

MercuryRising · 04/01/2019 23:43

Wow you have all been very busy! I have spent most of the day cuddling ds3 who had his 8week jabs yesterday. Poor little thing has n9t been his usual happy self. I am hoping normal service will resume tomorrow.

Bower what lovely news about your visitor. Your dd and ds did so well to keep quiet.
