Flying Resolutions for the Fledglings

HillsBesideTheSea · 01/01/2019 01:16

Ok. 1st of January.

It's a long running thread, but we like new people. Just be aware if we seem cliquey it is simply because some of us have known each other for many mumble mumble years.

Respect. We won't tell you what you are doing wrong if you don't tell us. hint if you tell us we are doing it wrong we will tell you you are wrong

Babysteps. If you are new start here. If you dropped off the fly wagon, start here. Basically start here.

Missions. Do these, if you start with the babysteps you will end up doing these during the course of the month.

Decluttering - you can't clean clutter. But experience has shown that fly lady is good for routines but there are other methods that work better for decluttering. Feel free to mix and match.

Emails - feel free sign up to them. Most of us don't because there can be a lot, ergo whilst you are welcome to sign up for them; we don't generally recommend it. especially as one of the babysteps is to delete them anyway

Linkies. We will be linking to the launch pad from there you can get to babysteps, missions, flight plans etc etc. Be aware that some don't update until the date that they are on (eg looking at the links before midnight on Monday will not show the information for Tuesday iyswim)

Is it me or is it chuffing cold?my house like blooming fridge

foxessocks · 03/01/2019 17:59

sc sorry but that did make me laugh about your incident todayGrin glad you had a better day too.

Zoo yes it is cold today! We've been outside a lot today for my mum's birthday outing and honestly my teeth now hurt I think from the cold Shock

I was going to respond to something else someone said but it's completed gone out of my head now and scrolling back on my phone is annoying so instead I'll just pass the Brew and some of mum's leftover birthday cake around Cake for the naughty corner.

Hello again, it’s lovely to read you here and thanks for all the waving. 😊 I feel so much more positive knowing that I’m not facing this long haul alone.

Very sorry to hear about your WM Mog. There’s never a good time for that. But this time of year is certainly not the best eh! ( unless you were planning on buying a new one in the sales, of course.)

Good luck with the shoes Zoo.

Woman and Edge
I hope the braces work out for your kiddies. One suggestion could be to ask and talk about the coloured bands. It seemed to make a difference here. Some even chose the colours of their favourite football team. 😊

SC, I was laughing out loud at the description of your dangling bottom swaying before the architect’s eyes until I came to this "Ca va Madame?"
Are you in France ??!!

Thanks for asking if my 15 minute chore bundles went well too SC. They did and whilst I was beetling around doing my jobs, I did some thinking. 😀

Because I tend to say “I’ll just do this” and “I’ll just do that “. Adding “just”, makes me think a job shouldn’t take much time. I tend to say it to myself all the time and it’s becoming clear to me that I’ve been setting myself to fail and I’ve not really been fair on myself for ages.

Doing my 15 minute chore bundles has shown me today that it’s going to take me twice as long as I thought to sort all the clean laundry, for example . I’ve learned now that that’s ok. 😊

HillsBesideTheSea · 03/01/2019 18:45

Me: might buy a fitbit
Also me: stalks user forums and Shock at number of hacked accounts!
Perhaps not.

Well, our last lot of houseguests have just gone home, it was nice having them here, but it is also nice having the house back to ourselves again. We all went into town today for lunch together and a little bit of shopping, then home for a bit of TV and crochet. I am starting a new project next week and wanted to get my balls of yarn sorted out for that so a bit of time upstairs playing with my stash. Just been to Sainsburys for first proper shop since Christmas Eve, it's kind of nice getting back to normality now.

Zoo - I have those feet too, very wide but with narrow heels, makes shoe buying a total PITA, especially as I now wear orthotics too, I tend to live in Birkenstocks, boots and trainers. Ypu have reminded me I need t take DD (another who doesn't fit into Clarks shoes) for some new school shoes soon).

SC - Grin at your architect antics, it sounds as though he was a gentleman.

Groovie - favourite football team colours sounds like a winner for DS (he is obsessed with footy).

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 03/01/2019 21:37

SC Grin

Welcome Beepbeep and tibni Smile.

SassitudeandSparkle · 03/01/2019 22:44

Welcome lovely newbies and returners .

SC not a court in the land would convict you, just saying ... as for the architect, elegance is everything and you retained it IMO. (my word for this year is chic)

Android users unite! Can I recommend the Cozi app (it's a calendar) with the Flylady thingy, it puts all the tasks in if you want that.

www.cozi.com/cobrand-flylady-signup/

Better finish cleaning up the kitchen and hang up the laundry I've done today (only one load tbh).

Bowerbird5 · 03/01/2019 23:38

Xwow you lot have been chatty

SC you visitors sound a bit 🤨

Mog check and see if you have any insurance cover on it as they couldn’t repair ours and replaced it with a new machine. In three months time we were getting one with the new kitchen. Saved ourselves some pounds.

Well I was expecting DDs visitors. A girl from Scotland to visit for three days. She has stayed before and is a lovely girl. DDs best friend was to be home overnight and would visit too. I heard a car later than I expected and shouted something cheeky as we joke about DDs friend 2 not being allowed in. Walked through to the kitchen and it was my sister from the other side of the world who I haven’t seen for almost ten years. Well I am not often speechless but I opened and closed by mouth like a goldfish and called DD a lying little 🐩she had only been to Glasgow and back with her eldest brother to pick up from the airport. So sis is here for three days then going to visit my other two sisters who don’t know she is here either. What a shock so not much flying other than cooking, cleaning kitchen and bathroom. Went out for lunch and to art gallery today.

Bowerbird5 · 03/01/2019 23:40

Welcome newbies and some have got loads done.😇

MeetOnTheledge · 03/01/2019 23:41

Awww bower! 😍💐

Welcome new and returning fledglings!

I should be sleeping especially as the swim tired me out but instead I’m watching more Marie Kondo :o

Feeling a bit anxious about the future due to DH’s health, he’s in a sorry state indeed. Been signed off and the rheumatologist cancelled his appt so he’s just stuck in pain. Trying to dwell on the positives instead, no work stress, more time together so many things will be much easier, but aaargh money future etc aaaaargh

SassitudeandSparkle · 04/01/2019 00:15

Shock Bower what a surprise!

Cag that's bad about your DH, the cancelled appointment. I can imagine the thoughts that would be running through my head in that situation.

EustaciaVye · 04/01/2019 05:31

Morning all! (Just back from sorting dhorse.).

(Hands over honey and lemon drink to Eustacia)

Wow and treble wow, that's incredible Bower, what an amazing surprise!!!! 🎆🎉🎊 Hope you all have a lovely time together Flowers.

Cag so sorry about your DH. That sounds really tough going. Flowers Will he be getting another appt? Could you badger ring consultant's secretary? (Sorry, not familiar with UK system any more.) Fabulous swimming btw!

Thanks for Cozi app recommendation Sass. I've no idea what any of these things are but I like to try and keep up! Grin

And thanks all about architect, he was indeed a gentleman Meet! Xmas Grin (Groovie, we're in Belgium.) And thanks Sass, I didn't really maintain my elegance, but very nice of you to say it!! Xmas Grin.

Looks like we are packing up and going back to town early today for various reasons. ( Very sad to be leaving 🐴.) Had better get cracking with the packing!

Have a good one everybody!

Slightlycoddled · 04/01/2019 08:03

Groovie sorry, emboldening failure there!

xpost Hills only my dignity Blush Wink and ta very much for links!

Slightlycoddled · 04/01/2019 08:06

Hills it's traditional to kill at least one or two pointsettas (sp?) a year in our household at this time of year.

MeetOnTheledge · 04/01/2019 08:13

The ponisettia in my room is trying to scare me. It is nosy when it drops leaves/flower petals - I switched to a very realistic fake one this year, no leaf drop but will need to store it out of season. Luckily its very small.

foxessocks · 04/01/2019 08:26

Wow bower! Shock

I need to leave the house in just over an hour with both dc and so far me and ds are still in bed (ds is still asleep!!) and dd is watching TV in her pyjamas. I know it can be done but I seem unable to get going Confused and I was going to be really efficient and take the recycling on the way. I've also just drunk an almost cold coffeey because I'm too lazy to make a fresh one, it was disgusting I wish I hadn't now!

I also keep having very vivid dreams at the moment. Although unlike cag they haven't been actually scary just very realistic. Hope you're ok cag Flowers
