Flying Resolutions for the Fledglings

Ok. 1st of January.

It's a long running thread, but we like new people. Just be aware if we seem cliquey it is simply because some of us have known each other for many mumble mumble years.

Respect. We won't tell you what you are doing wrong if you don't tell us. hint if you tell us we are doing it wrong we will tell you you are wrong

Babysteps. If you are new start here. If you dropped off the fly wagon, start here. Basically start here.

Missions. Do these, if you start with the babysteps you will end up doing these during the course of the month.

Decluttering - you can't clean clutter. But experience has shown that fly lady is good for routines but there are other methods that work better for decluttering. Feel free to mix and match.

Emails - feel free sign up to them. Most of us don't because there can be a lot, ergo whilst you are welcome to sign up for them; we don't generally recommend it. especially as one of the babysteps is to delete them anyway

Linkies. We will be linking to the launch pad from there you can get to babysteps, missions, flight plans etc etc. Be aware that some don't update until the date that they are on (eg looking at the links before midnight on Monday will not show the information for Tuesday iyswim)

Sass yes, you’re right it is draining. I had a good nights sleep last night. The pain in my hip comes and goes. I have acupuncture for it but haven’t had it since December. It is had to get an appointment once you are out of the loop. My GP often just books me in which is great because he can open the appointments while the receptionist on the phone will tell you there isn’t any. Not sure what is causing it. He just smiles a cheeky smile at me meaning it is wear and tear...old age! Have atheritis in my wrist and part of my spine so guess it is that too. Probably the only part of my body that hasn’t been x-rayed.

Still lazing in bed.DH brought me a large mug of tea😁 last week I was up and about by now. Although I enjoyed last weekend I think it has made me tired this week. I was on my feet most of the weekend as I made lunch and two different meals on the Saturday with pudding and a large roast dinner 3 course on Sunday and most of the washing up on Saturday. I got help on Sunday😃 I left later than I planned as well. Need to get up and buy paint, paper etc. Said to DH we should have gone home that way and bought it last night. I have asked him to put bacon on. Then I will get up. Need a wee now maybe that was why I was given a big mug of tea.

Lovely to hear from you Cags. Making perfect sense to me. Hope you both feel better soon.
Vacuum just about knackered so going to replace that. Won’t buy expensive stick one. Think I might get one in the future just for the stairs and upstairs. That way the battery should last longer. I like my dyson, had it since 2011and only second time it has needed attention. I gather you don’t like them SC. DH didn’t but has had to eat his words. He prefers Henry but they are too heavy for me. The new one at school is awful. The cleaner thinks they are being made elsewhere.

Right About to get up, please kick my butt into action! Who has the pointy stick? 🥐🥐🥐🥐🥐🥐☕️🍼🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥖🥖🥖🥖🥞🥞leaves breakfast in naughty corner🥞

Bowerbird5 · 26/01/2019 10:11

Need to learn to spell conditions I have ...arthritis. Had to do spell check.

HillsBesideTheSea · 26/01/2019 11:02

I don't have a pointy stick but I have a reward chart for stickers and a if all this gets done then this can happen. Was hoping to be up at 7am. but as I was awake at 3am heading towards 4am this morning the longer sleep was sensible. Now for pain killers, caffiene and ALL. the. things!

Morning all.
Feeling pretty rubbish as I have pulled a muscle in my neck which has been giving me a headache.
Have managed a bit of a tidy up this morning though but at the stage where things look worse before they get better :/
Haven't caught up on the thread but hope everyone is ok.

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/01/2019 12:15

I'm here zoo!

Just at the orthodontist waiting for my braces to be fitted.... arrrggghhh

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/01/2019 13:52

Hope goes well lovelyFlowers

SassitudeandSparkle · 26/01/2019 14:08

Foxes good luck with the braces, my DD's hurt less than I was expecting so I hope yours are OK too.

I didn't search through the drinks cupboard in the end, but I have bought a bottle of wine for tonight

Raining quite a lot here at the moment, so already going off the idea of going out today but should get more tidying done. One load of laundry on already.

Sproutingcorm · 26/01/2019 14:51

Hello, I have spent most of the day with 🐴 Grin. (Well, since 6am!). He is so fit now he is being a bit of a bugger but I bloody 💓 him. Watching Cheltenham now with Brew. Electricity board was here this morning fixing cables brought down by snow storm. Tree fellers are out in force too! Washing on ( that's the one thing relevant to Flying!!). Going to help neighbour with lambing tonight.

Sorry things are so tough going Cag Flowers
Hope your dd1 is feeling better Steg
Love the sound of your Burns supper Sass!
Hope you can rest up a bit now Zoo

Snowy wing flaps to everyone else!

foxessocks · 26/01/2019 15:51

Thanks everyone! It wasn't too bad , just a bit sore now but glad it's over with and I'm on the way to straight teeth at last! Just pondering whether gin and tonic counts as a fizzy drink and if I can have it now...hmm...

Dh has taken the dc to see his dad as it's his birthday so I've got the house to myself for a bit. Have just tidied the kitchen and put the food shopping away. Toys everywhere in the living room but not even going to bother as I'm sure they'll get it all back out when they get in! Need to start thinking about cooking dinner think I'm going to do chicken Kiev with potato dauphinose (as soft for me and I have cream to use up) and whatever green veg I have that needs using. That's the plan anyway!

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/01/2019 16:27

foxes dd2 was told fizzy drinks with a strawWink

Dinner sounds good,we are having sausage and mash as despite a bit of a temperature lift it's grey and miserable out

SC eeek lambing season already?good luck!!

SassitudeandSparkle · 26/01/2019 16:35

I think my DD was told not too many fizzy drinks as it's the carbonation as well as the sugar, but we also tend to use straws.

Sausage and mash sounds lovely zoo.

Enjoy the racing SC, it's quite close to me so should know more about it than I do! Lambing - that sounds a little challenging to me, I'll leave you to it on that front.

I can't stop eating the leftover shortbread, so yummy ....

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 26/01/2019 20:29

Hi all, sorry, I have been rubbish at flying lately. Glad braces ok so far foxes.

Big wing flaps to all, off to sort laundry.

EustaciaVye · 27/01/2019 07:57

Good for you getting braces foxes.

I cleared out my whole family room yesterday. Should be dining room but we moved table to kitchen a few years ago and have sofa and tv in there instead. So I feel good about that. Rest of house is a mess.

foxessocks · 27/01/2019 08:21

Thanks everyone! Struggling to eat anything apart from Weetabix at the moment, very sore but just got to get through a few days of this I reckon and then it'll be much better (fingers crossed anyway!)

Hope everyone has a relaxing Sunday ahead. I might go for a run later but depends on the weather.

Eustacia always the way when you sort out one room the rest of the house ends up a mess - I can relate to that!

Stilllivinginazoo · 27/01/2019 08:49

foxes dd2 has very low pain threshold and peaked 48 hours after but was nightmare best part of a week so I'm sure you will feel better in a day or twoFlowers
Good excuse to eat ice cream I say

Stilllivinginazoo · 27/01/2019 08:50

Could you manage a naice risotto or a crumble and custard?

foxessocks · 27/01/2019 08:55

Thanks zoo that's useful as it does feel like it's getting worse not better so maybe that's normal!! I don't have any risotto rice but crumble is a great idea I've got cooking apples in the freezer so I'll do that later Smile

IVEgottheDECAF · 27/01/2019 09:56

Happy sunday Smile

Sorry i have been awol but life is beating me with the tired stick

foxessocks · 27/01/2019 10:09

Hi ive! Brew

Well I tried running but quickly realised my mouth hurts too much , you wouldn't think it would make it worse but it does! So gave up on that idea and had a shower instead. Think today won't really be productive...

Sproutingcorm · 27/01/2019 10:30

Ouch! That sounds a bit grim Foxes, I hope you feel better soon.

Well I spent from 3 to 6.30 am doing tours of a freezing lambing shed this morning ...where ... absolutely zilch happened (very early in season). Still, it meant my neighbour, who is not young, could get a couple of hours kip and she's been so overwhelningly kind to us that I was happy to do it. I was under strict instructions to call her (she sleeps downstairs on her sofa during lambing season) if anything did happen btw, but it didn't. Must admit I was somewhat relieved! But it was fun "playing" farmer for a couple of hours! But evidently hugely tough to do that for real every night for nearly two months. Don't know how she manages really. She only has a small herd but still ... she is in her late sixties/early seventies ...so can't be easy.

Sorry, no Flying to report but have just had a nap and about to start Sunday clean up/pack.

Waves to I've and everyone else!

Bowerbird5 · 27/01/2019 10:33

I think that too. I consider Sunday a day of rest. I am going to church the LA then choir. Went to buy paper yesterday as DH finally decided he quite liked it to find they had sold it all. It was down to £8 a roll. So took four samples back and need to decide as sale finishes today. 30% off paint too. DH and I have narrowed it down to three. I suggested we buy two rolls of two. Then if we don’t like it we can change it and if we do keep it and keep two spare for next time it needs done😉

I like two, DH likes one the same and a different colour of my second choice which means different colour paint too. I am getting tempted to paint the whole kitchen off white and be done with it. Pussy willow (grey and the offwhite / green stemmed) and the tulip one in aubergine are the choices if any one wants to help offer opinions. Unusual for kitchens I know but a bit different. I wanted grey background Lisette. Cupboards are creamy white and worktop a very unusual grey/green.
Need to get all the stuff back in dresser and out of bedrooms! Then I can get back on the flylady wagon properly. Going to de clutter some😮
Enjoy your families today.

Foxes that sounds painful.
I’ve we’ve missed you. Tired stick has been here too. Maybe January.
Waves to SC and Dhorse.
Zoo I was thinking ice cream too but might hurt. Mince?
Cags and Sass enjoy baby/ toddler cuddles more important.
Toostressy join me in the naughty corner.
Eustacia one room is one room in my book. Mine is the bathroom and kitchen at the moment. Sitting room just needs a quick whizz but the rest...oh dear!
Waves to anyone I have missed out.

Bowerbird5 · 27/01/2019 10:39

Lambing ahh I remember Joe leaving son to look after sheep one NYE we came back and he had fallen asleep and lambs and ewes everywhere. Saw the New Year in in the lambing shed trying to work out which ewe matched which lamb/s and bale corrals around them. It was a nightmare and he never left them again. I admit I fell asleep for twenty minutes watching for a foal, and mare waited. I was in trouble for that.

Sproutingcorm · 27/01/2019 11:43

Hey Bower fwiw I prefer the pussy willow!

Aye mares notoriously always drop when you nip to the lav or drop off for 3 mins!

EustaciaVye · 27/01/2019 12:42

Just spent 2 hours in my garage clearing out. 2 runs to tip. 6 bags for charity shop but can't face taking them right now. How have we accumulated so much stuff???
