Flying Resolutions for the Fledglings

Ok. 1st of January.

It's a long running thread, but we like new people. Just be aware if we seem cliquey it is simply because some of us have known each other for many mumble mumble years.

Respect. We won't tell you what you are doing wrong if you don't tell us. hint if you tell us we are doing it wrong we will tell you you are wrong

Babysteps. If you are new start here. If you dropped off the fly wagon, start here. Basically start here.

Missions. Do these, if you start with the babysteps you will end up doing these during the course of the month.

Decluttering - you can't clean clutter. But experience has shown that fly lady is good for routines but there are other methods that work better for decluttering. Feel free to mix and match.

Emails - feel free sign up to them. Most of us don't because there can be a lot, ergo whilst you are welcome to sign up for them; we don't generally recommend it. especially as one of the babysteps is to delete them anyway

Linkies. We will be linking to the launch pad from there you can get to babysteps, missions, flight plans etc etc. Be aware that some don't update until the date that they are on (eg looking at the links before midnight on Monday will not show the information for Tuesday iyswim)

I'm still around SC
Forgot to pay virgin bill.no money til sunday.zoolets mainly dd2 up in arms as her social media addiction will bite through her entire data allowance and will have to save it for school work, thus I am depriving her of "a life"
As I'm currently doing dedicate yoga on u tube for 30 days I too need to be careful with data, hence will be posting less next few days!!

We've had snow this evening,a light sprinkling(for now)

Sass hope you feel better soon
Foxes cats whiskers can sense barometer changes and snow is more of a drop than when it rains and can be quite sensitive in some cats,so whilst it's most probable another cats trying pinch her territory she maybe feeling uncomfortable ...

I've cleaned kitchen thoroughly today, amused D's,took him to well being cafe at church, usual gubbins of laundry, bins and littertray etc

Tonight tea
Meatballs, pasta and carrots.as meatballs cook in oven I'm making apple crumble too

MeetOnTheledge · 22/01/2019 22:43

I'm still here too. Sleet today but nothing settling. Very cold though.

Been getting on with some admin stuff this evening, feeling a bit more on top of things now and just off to bed to read for a bit. Night all.

Can hear ds waking now, bet he'll be a delight today Hmm

foxessocks · 23/01/2019 06:58

Sorry for all the grumbling there, I'll be alright in a minute! Poor dh had it worse as he had to leave for work at 5 and barely got any sleep at all!

Thanks for the Brew everyone, just having one now in fact. We have been making gingerbread sharks (as you do!) and ds dropped a whole tray of them on the floor (because he was fiddling with them when I told him to leave them!) and they all broke. He wasn't happy! Anyway still got lots.

Made gingerbread biscuits

Hoovered kitchen because of broken biscuits and also the cat has been making a big mess in there again Hmm
Emptied kitchen bin
Sorted cats litter tray

stegosauruslady · 23/01/2019 12:09

EustaciaVye · 23/01/2019 14:31

Hi everyone
Day off for me today so relaxing in front of a box set. House a bit of a tip but choosing to ignore

EustaciaVye · 23/01/2019 17:58

It's very quiet here at the moment.
I have sorted out washing and I am.reminding myself of the flylady principles. It's funny, as from over 10 years ago quite a lot has actually stuck. I do still do a load of washing and the dishwasher every day for example, and I try and have a blitz of something for 5 or 10 minutes.
I had forgotten the zones and missions but tbh that is less practical when you are out of the house a lot.
Baby steps though, huh...
Hope everyone is ok

SassitudeandSparkle · 23/01/2019 22:08

I feel much better today, although DD and I are snuggled up for an early night as she felt tired earlier. Hopefully we'll both get some sleep!

Bowerbird5 · 23/01/2019 23:54

Stegosaurus baby stego is one gorgeous bundle.

Drops cake crumbs as finding a comfy place to sit. Thanks zoo.

Sorry I haven’t been on. I left after school on Friday for weekend but I was delayed because of the snow on high ground and an accident. Police turned asked To turn around until road cleared (2 hrs)from accident. Still no internet at house and I was kept too busy to slip out. Driving better by Sunday but icy Monday and today. Hard frost today trying to snow. Pennines covered. Some Lake fells and freezing. My fingers were hurting while I was cleaning out Henny Penny/ Houdini. Gave her extra straw for tonight and porridge for breakfast. She loves porridge. I had some too.
Had a course this week too so very tired. Not much flying done but I am de cluttering still. Rather exhausted today after weekend and extra teaching.

Made minted lamb, new pots, broccoli, peas and mushrooms tonight. Tea and mince pie. Glass of gin before dinner.

Also having January breakdowns.
My vacuum.Dyson. Now in shop hoping for repair but they have similar model. He bought 50 as popular so I can replace for £279 if he can’t fix other one. You can’t buy these now. Great as light to manoeuvre.
DS3 reports washer in house. My responsibility.
Car in for MOT. Needs parts and two new tyres.

Spent this evening sorting school stuff and marking. Back in tomorrow. Two more leaving. Teacher being awkward on Tuesday. Trying to ignore.

stegosauruslady · 24/01/2019 07:07

Morning!

bower Thanks! We like him! Urgh, too many things breaking down for you at the moment...

eustacia Good habits sticking around is so good isn't it? I've found that I have a few that are just auto pilot now, which really helps as I don't feel as though I am actually doing housework while getting them done. Mine are laundry, and cleaning the bathroom while I shower.

I'm pretty pleased with my baking drawer organisation. I've been doing KonMari style de-cluttering for a while now (took advantage of the nesting!) and I'm now storing things in a more sensible and easier to access way. I keep opening the drawer to stare at it! actually gone loopy

To do today...
Laundry
Put away yesterday's laundry (oops, I'm usually good at that!)
Hospital appointment with the tiny Steggie
Buy present for birthday party child
Buy wine for me and birthday party Mum! - one of my closest friends, we will hide in the kitchen and drink!
Bake banana bread to use up bananas

SassitudeandSparkle · 24/01/2019 09:18

Morning! I'm having coffee and a croissant for breakfast so I'll restock the naughty corner while I'm here - help yourself!

Having heated the oven for the one croissant I've left the door open to warm the kitchen 'cos it is cold! I've got my Christmas jumper on again today, it's that cold - no frost today though. My postie is still wearing shorts Star

DD seems a bit better and has gone to school. Hope she's OK for tomorrow as she has an activity with school planned.

Bower - more resignations at school? You must be really short of staff there now, must make it very difficult for those of you still there to provide the kind of service you would like to Flowers . It has a kind of drip-drip effect on morale that I wouldn't underestimate (former HR worker) even in ways that are not immediately obvious. It is hard.

So if the kitchen has warmed up, I will do some washing up (baking tray level critical, to pinch one of Zoo's phrases) and it might even be a good day to do some ironing. I might have gone too far there!

Sproutingcorm · 24/01/2019 11:47

I'm meant to be keeping away from Mnsnet and focusing on work/house yeah right but just across the way for x3 Prof Brexit webchat so popping in again to say hi!

Glad you are feeling better Sass and hope postie has shapely calves Grin Wink

NEVER apologise Foxes constantly broken sleep must be awful Flowers

Wow Steg you sound amazingly busy and organised for one with a newborn! Star Star. Hats off to you!

Keep safe on the snowy roads Bower! 👋 to you and 🐓
Best to keep my thoughts on Dyson to myself

Waves to Eustacia Honu Cag Zoo Meet I've Toostressy MsForestier and everyone else who I've forgotten (sorry)!

Hope you are ok Hills 🍰 ☕

SassitudeandSparkle · 24/01/2019 13:24

Did some washing up this morning, listening to youtube videos in the background. Had lunch now, so more to do Grin but might save that until DD and her sandwich boxes arrive home later today.

She was pretty tired (and sneezed) so I hope it's not another bug, she really needs to be well for tomorrow! Not much we can do about it if it is, though.

Will do some shopping this afternoon, collect DD, nag about homework/instrument practice and try for another early night.

I am still cold, hope everyone else is warm and cosy though Brew

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/01/2019 17:25

sassI'm freezing.hope not another bug is attempting to darken your door...

We've had trip to camhs today with D's.after last weeksind map they're contemplating making a cacti terrarium with him.his task for the week is to research what it will involve.its a confidence building exercise that allows them to build relations with him.theyve also been told signing him off school is simply a letter,so that will be done before the end of the week

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/01/2019 17:25

*letter from o.t

stegosauruslady · 25/01/2019 07:04

sprout 4th baby, everything would fall to pieces if I wasn't! Also, I had a super easy recovery, I felt like nothing had happened by three days after he was born. That and I get bored easily with nothing to do!

DD1 is full of whatever bug is going around...poor thing, she has been so busy the last week or so with lots of Sea Cadet activities (she did a weekend long catering course and then did a first aid course this week). Sea Cadets has been so good for her confidence though, she is bus-ing herself all over the place now and the physical activity has helped her too (she was very prem and is, at 12, shorter than most 8 years olds and weighs only three stone).

DD3 is currently giggling about the fact that one of the LOL dolls looks like me...hilarious when you are 7 apparently.

Today...

The girls are going to their Dad's after school so we are going up to DP's Dad's house to help him clear out his kitchen. DP is going to do the clearing, I'm going to stock his fridge with meals he can microwave while the kitchen is being done.

Also, laundry.

foxessocks · 25/01/2019 07:15

zoo hope you're ok and you haven't come down with a bug!

Dh overslept this morning by 1h25 Shock!! He only woke up with my alarm as his didn't go off woops. So we both leapt out of bed and I made him tea and threw some snacks in a bag for him while he got ready. Not the most relaxing start to the day but I appreciate worse for him! Slightly miffed that he still found time to complain about my tea making abilities he has a point though

Right best get going properly now as the dc are slumped in front of the TV clearly think it's Saturday!!

Have a good day everyone!

Not so busy on here this week.

I haven’t done much flying this week as I have been busy both at work and church group last weekend. Going to try and do lots this weekend.
Last weekend for Laura Ashley sale. I am going for paint and wallpaper tomorrow. Lots of discontinued lines means some wallpapers are down to £6.40 a roll. If you have never used it is is very good quality paper. Also next Christmas gifts ?

Snow just on tops and ice was just on Monday and Wednesday. There is bound to be more. I was in the Lakes with church and quite a bit of snow there last weekend.

We had fish and chips bought on the way home. I really enjoyed them as due to clearing up, a meeting and early start with Reception I had no time for lunch. Normally we don’t eat until seven. It is quite nice to be cosied up by the fire earlier. We have been eating in the kitchen which is lovely and warm now. We are decorating it tomorrow.

Broken sleep is awful. It isn’t babies but pain that keeps me awake now.

SassitudeandSparkle · 25/01/2019 21:41

Bower it is so exhausting to deal with constant pain, it can take all your energy just to get through the day Flowers

DD seems to have missed another bug thankfully. She attended the school event (it was off site), enjoyed it and was gleeful that she insisted on packing her school bag as normal as it finished early and they were back at school for lessons. I had said it wouldn't be necessary! I'll let her take it all next time as well!

Burns night extravaganza here, haggis, shortbread, the full works. We're not Scottish, I'm just greedy The amount of prep that it all takes though, I feel like I was cooking and washing up for hours ...

Anyway, forgot to get myself any wine today so will check the drinks cupboard for a Friday night alternative. Cheers!

Cagliostro · 26/01/2019 04:19

Hey. Just popping in while I can’t sleep. At the tail end of my tapering off the paroxetine and it’s pretty horrible, but I have to do it slowly.

House is ok, considering my issues and the amount of pain DH is in, he’s still off work. Home ed taking a total backseat while we sort health stuff out.

I’m probably making no sense and rambling, I’m so knackered, but completely wired!

Much love and weary wing flaps to all.
