Flying Resolutions for the Fledglings

Ok. 1st of January.

It's a long running thread, but we like new people. Just be aware if we seem cliquey it is simply because some of us have known each other for many mumble mumble years.

Respect. We won't tell you what you are doing wrong if you don't tell us. hint if you tell us we are doing it wrong we will tell you you are wrong

Babysteps. If you are new start here. If you dropped off the fly wagon, start here. Basically start here.

Missions. Do these, if you start with the babysteps you will end up doing these during the course of the month.

Decluttering - you can't clean clutter. But experience has shown that fly lady is good for routines but there are other methods that work better for decluttering. Feel free to mix and match.

Emails - feel free sign up to them. Most of us don't because there can be a lot, ergo whilst you are welcome to sign up for them; we don't generally recommend it. especially as one of the babysteps is to delete them anyway

Linkies. We will be linking to the launch pad from there you can get to babysteps, missions, flight plans etc etc. Be aware that some don't update until the date that they are on (eg looking at the links before midnight on Monday will not show the information for Tuesday iyswim)

zoo that is really rubbish Angry

Well my one good flying deed of making the eye test appointment promptly has failed as dd has just been invited to a birthday party on that date and time so I've got to change it as one of us will have to take her while the other stays with ds. So much for being organised!!

Stilllivinginazoo · 17/01/2019 19:50

I'm not fussy hills as long as they are sharper than sharp.slightly rusty is an option too!

MogTheSleepyCat · 17/01/2019 21:00

Evening all.

Have done bugger all flying for a few days and house is a sty.

EustaciaVye · 18/01/2019 10:06

Hi everyone
zoo school sounds like a nightmare and you really do have my sympathy :(
I've been very busy last few days with work. Had a successful event and then a completely stressy time as a side effect. [Hmm]
Dh is supportive thankfully so gave me a break last night and I have a day off today. I'm not leaving time for myself and putting everyone else first which is how I always get burnt out but I don't seem to be able to unlock that habit.

Today, I have been collating all the jobs and defining the to do list so finally feel a bit more organised.

foxessocks · 18/01/2019 11:36

Morning (just about!)

Eustacia I am stepping slightly away from flylady after being back into it after Christmas I've come to the conclusion I'm always thinking about what I've got to do and I'm fed up of it! Have decided to try and relax and enjoy other things more. Hope you have a nice day off Brew

Ta da
School run
Toddler group
Made cookies with ds
Tidied kitchen after baking
Dishwasher on
Tidied up few bits in living room

Got friends over later so will need to have a tidy up (at least in the rooms they'll seeGrin!) and possibly make some more cakes or something.

Ds has just spontaneously put his head on my shoulder and said "I love you mummy" , makes up for his epic tantrum about porridge this morning Hmm

SassitudeandSparkle · 18/01/2019 13:09

Afternoon all, some minor vacuuming has been done this morning but not a lot else tbh. Got a serious case of the Friday CBA about me today!

zoo that school is beyond a joke now. If you have a look on your local Council website there should be a link to an organisation like parent partnership or SENDIASS (might have the name wrong there) and they can be really helpful with stuff like this. I really think it might be time for a third party to step in here.

foxes that is lovely, treasure those moments and remind yourself of them during tantrums

DD had to record herself doing something for school - only about thirty seconds of video but it must have taken us an hour to do it and not start laughing!

DH was away for a few nights this week (house of girl) and is out for a bit of the weekend as well, so I will be doing all the running around and nagging about homework again. I think I'll draw up a list to tick off each day, that way if she actually finishes any of it early she can cross it off.

Will go an wash up for a bit, and add even more things to the list of items that should really be done whilst waiting for the bank account to refiill on Monday ! Happy flapping, fledglings!

EustaciaVye · 18/01/2019 15:12

foxes treasure those moments :)

sass yay to the giggly times

I have had a cuppa with my friend which has been lovely. House isn't too bad as cleaner has been so I should be able to do a bit of sorting at the weekend.

Morning! I have not been as productive as zoo no change there for me but have cooked bacon and eggs for breakfast for me and DD, DH is out again today.

DD is still suffering with a cold and I'm getting it now so will dose us both up on paracetamol shortly and get on with the day!

MeetOnTheledge · 19/01/2019 10:38

Morning!

Zoo I agree about contacting your local SENDIASS (or whatever they are called there) team, there should be a link through the local authority website, go to education then SEN. DD1 sounds like a star, hope you have a good day with her.

Sass hope you both feel better soon.

Shopping and cinema planned for DD and I later, she needs school and casual shoes then off to see Mary Poppins. DS is at a Scout thing and DH is doing some of his own errands and shopping. I made the mistake of sitting on the sofa for a cuppa and now have a lovely warm cat sprawled over me so don't want to get up. Luckily my crochet is within reach.

Flying wise - yesterday I did about 4 loads of washing, and tackled about a year's backlog of filing. I am determined to keep more on top of it this year, not just doing it regularly but reorganising a bit to make things like insurance docs easier to find, also improving my budgeting spreadsheet as it's quite rudimentary at the moment.

foxessocks · 19/01/2019 10:53

Good flying everyone! I did a big tidy before friends came over yesterday so the house is fairly respectable which is good because I drank too much prosecco last night and am feeling the effects of it! (I really can't drink much at all) and my mil is visiting later. I'll have a quick tidy round once I've recovered from getting up, showered, dressed and having breakfast which has taken me nearly 4 hoursGrin. Dh has kindly taken the dc out in the garden to tidy it up a bit. So I'm doing what I always want to do on a Saturday morning but can't because dh usually at work and I'm usually small child wrangling - I am watching Saturday kitchen! 😃

EustaciaVye · 19/01/2019 11:19

Hi everyone,

I am sat in town with a cuppa while dd ventures out for the first time with her friends :)
Enforced relaxation for me...
I have also ventured into Primark and bought a few bits.

Lots of things to do in the house but I will get to that later. I got a load of washing in before I came out so that is something, I guess.

Enjoy your Saturdays!

SassitudeandSparkle · 19/01/2019 15:32

Well done on the filing Meet, a dreaded task here too. We have files set up but in the room I use for bags I've filled with junk before they leave the house, so access is sometimes tricky.

Enjoy the quiet morning, foxes, nothing like a Primark haul Eustacia. Hills hope you are OK and the roadworks are not making the headache a week-long one.

Have nagged DD into instrument practice, having a short break in hostilities before next bit of homework nagging takes place Grin

foxessocks · 19/01/2019 15:59

We have a washing machine!!! First load is on!

Stilllivinginazoo · 19/01/2019 16:06

SassitudeandSparkle · 19/01/2019 17:09

Yay for the washing machine (not often I say that!)

Quiet afternoon here, have got myself a ready meal for tonight and will go and get myself a large toffee latte DD a McD's shortly. With DH being out he often gets back late so I'd rather not wait for my own tea greedy

No flying at all this afternoon Blush

Same zoo I feel like I could go to bed now and sleep until morning.

This weekend has not been the best! After getting our new washing machine yesterday our dishwasher broke today Angry . Ds was in our bed from 3am and I don't think I actually went back to sleep after that. He also didn't nap this afternoon so he's very very grumpy. Dh is extremely grumpy. And I'm still feeling the effects of my hangover Blush honestly never drinking prosecco again! It's not fun in this house at the moment! I'm actually looking forward to Monday arriving...

January is really not a good month to have to buy two new appliances!!
