Flying Resolutions for the Fledglings

Ok. 1st of January.

It's a long running thread, but we like new people. Just be aware if we seem cliquey it is simply because some of us have known each other for many mumble mumble years.

Respect. We won't tell you what you are doing wrong if you don't tell us. hint if you tell us we are doing it wrong we will tell you you are wrong

Babysteps. If you are new start here. If you dropped off the fly wagon, start here. Basically start here.

Missions. Do these, if you start with the babysteps you will end up doing these during the course of the month.

Decluttering - you can't clean clutter. But experience has shown that fly lady is good for routines but there are other methods that work better for decluttering. Feel free to mix and match.

Emails - feel free sign up to them. Most of us don't because there can be a lot, ergo whilst you are welcome to sign up for them; we don't generally recommend it. especially as one of the babysteps is to delete them anyway

Linkies. We will be linking to the launch pad from there you can get to babysteps, missions, flight plans etc etc. Be aware that some don't update until the date that they are on (eg looking at the links before midnight on Monday will not show the information for Tuesday iyswim)

Yo Brew

MogTheSleepyCat · 13/01/2019 10:18

< chinks coffee mugs with I've >

Hills - I couldn't agree more with your Flylady 101 upthread; I think we all forget how much we actually do to keep our houses and families ticking over.

Zoo glad you got some sleep, DS let us have a bit of a lie in on weekends now, tis lovely!

DS has animal related homework this week, so rather than the usual showdown over completing it, we have all agreed to take it to the zoo and complete it in situ.

HillsBesideTheSea · 13/01/2019 10:48

Top up Ive?

Zoo are you trying to win an award for an understatement? Grin might have needed the sleep? fingers crossed you can get some more sleep soon!

I had a lie in. I have a mountain of stuff to do which is essential to functioning next week so I guess I should grab some painkillers and get moving.

Wobbly bit of brace still hanging in there (currently), will ring ortho tomorrow morning and arrange for it to be fixed. DD was offered coloured elastics but went for one that matched the wire and brackets as closely as possible. She was out yesterday morning at an activity and the first time she spoke someone screamed 'you've got braces' and she clamped her hand over her mouth Sad Hopefully the interest will die off by the end of the week!

The autoplaying ads/videos are driving me insane on here at the moment so I'll be on a lot less for a bit, will try and check in here though as it is such a lovely thread.

Cagliostro · 13/01/2019 22:39

Hello. Still not caught up. Chatty thread, will definitely need a second thread this month, I gather that’s common for January!

Pottering about sort of day, had some of DD’s friends round which was great and a reminder of how lovely it is living here because that wouldn’t have been possible in the old house.

Did a few little bits of housework and filled in the home ed diary (not that there’s much to put in it yet). Last night of no melatonin today for DD and she’s been driving me nuts coming downstairs a million times. Thank fuck it’s nearly over.

Ordered most of DH’s birthday presents and some house and baby essentials.

I know lots of us have kids with autism, thought I’d share that I also preordered this book for DD

www.amazon.co.uk/Autism-Friendly-Guide-Periods-Robyn-Steward/dp/1785923242/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=autism+friendly+guide+to+periods&tag=mumsnetforum-21&ie=UTF8&qid=1547414794&sr=8-1

Bowerbird5 · 13/01/2019 23:34

Yes Hills and i’m 27 and still turn heads occasionally.

Well you know how flylady says we must look after ourselves...I have been.

Awoke early about 4:30 but went back to sleep until the same time as zoo. Woke up feeling refreshed.
Fed animals, Henrietta has escaped for two months so wondering if I can remove second fence because she has forgotten. It would be easier to get in and easier to clean out.
Had tea and sausage buttie admire kitchen. Sorted cupboard above kettle so now has mugs on first shelf, tea and coffee on second and cocoa and fajitas ( the box doesn’t fit elsewhere) while waiting for kettle to boil.
Gave general tidy around and did another decks box so now ready for loft. Just need a box down for the last things. China goes away at the end of January.
Went to Mass, got instructions and numbers for next weeks excursion. Pity it is so far or I could make myself a job catering for house parties, walking groups etc.
Went to DS3’s and collected vacuum. Murphy Richards about £100. It doesn’t pick up quite as well as my dyson but but not bad and just as I was thinking for the price it would do I hit a snag ...I can’t open it to empty . I liked it on the stairs🙄

Went to Sainsbury’s for several things, went to a meeting, picked girls up at station for choir. Sang, dropped girls off at station. I drove to DS 2’s house and ate a beautifully roast chicken and gammon. Home in time for Vera. Mulled wine on and pudding.used the stick vacuum while ads were on. Sitting room. Clean, kitchen clean. Dining room half done and I can’t empty. A god relaxing day. Forgot the paint.

Stilllivinginazoo · 14/01/2019 05:56

Hi everyone

Sounds like a lot of you had good Sundays!
I abandoned housework(other than laundry)..
Managed get D's to church.we saw new glass doors blessed then went out to Sunday school.reading was about John baptising Jesus so they were asked create a picture of dove, water and fire.option to use paints, glue, ribbons, white feathers, tissue paper and sequins...he opt just use felt pens(fearful touching some other bitsSad) but drew a lovely picture with fire centre bottom, dove to the right a cross to the left.his I deal of God at top amongst dark clouds and rain falling!lil zoo did waves of water and fire repelling against each other with dove about.interesting every child so great work and all the ideas were so different!he wobbles couple times and we sat in the kitchenette briefly and when they went back in for communion we watched the birds outside and looked at some of the old artwork from Sunday school before popping back into church when everyone came out for a few minutes so he could pray/reflect quietly
DP and I left dd2 in charge of other two minecrafting whilst we nip sainsbo then lunch and I felt so tired again I had another nap!!!
Looked at rules of D's other Xmas game(cag do you have steam time?)looks very good but very complicated so do n I have agreed best played by ourselves once or twice to get familiar with it before try get zoolets involved.more rounds of dragonwood instead, which we introduced lil zoo to and she loved it as muchas dsSmile
Beef Ragu and pasta for tea followed by call the midwife and documentary about hotel chocolat.fell asleep on sofa trying to calm DS about emergency cahms app(which is today at 1)with OT.best outcome will be he warns to her and she will communicate to school about length time required to get him sorted(they still think no work and quick fix) and possibly a brief respite....
Not setting hopes up...
Bbl

foxessocks · 14/01/2019 07:08

zoo what channel was the hotel Chocolat thing on zoo? Might watch that later!

There's a horrible virus going round ds nursery school so I'm worried about him picking it up. I can't keep him off just in case though as he needs to settle in as it's only his second week. Just have to hope he isn't there long enough yet to catch it and that parents are keeping poorly little ones off.

Monday again!

Bowerbird5 · 14/01/2019 07:34

Maybe worth giving him some vitamin supplement foxes. I used to do that with mine in winter to help resistance. Vitamin C or multi vit.

Sounds like you are playing catch up with rest zoo.
The pictures sound brilliant.

Should be up been dozing.legs aching. About to bounce up and will have to rush around to leave on time. Have been given time table to start earlier which is a right pain. Will be worse when the snow and ice comes as it will be minus something here as colder than town.
Hoping for a good day.

Flying plan
Ironing
Vacuum dining room.
Sort pile of clothing in bedroom
Easy tea.

Stilllivinginazoo · 14/01/2019 07:47

If it's a cold bug I agree a with bower multivitamins, maybe drops or chewy "sweet" pastilles?(need check age range on those,my memory for that's bit foggy!!)foxesthink it was channel 5?will check and come back...

folded and paired socks before I rebuilt the to do pile

As I can't stand on my knee today not sure what I am going to do tbh. I have to be out the house and walking about as part of work and school. Going to be a fun fun day.

I have fallen off of the thread for the last few days due to a weekend of family birthdays but Im ready to jump back in. We have kept up with our routines and dp decluttered our room so we had a reasonably productive weekend.

So far this morning I haven't really done anything except feed the dc as I spent half an hour on the phone trying to get dp a doctors appointment only to be told that routine appointments aren't released until later in the day 🙄

My immediate plan is to sit and cuddle a sleeping baby while watching the news and then do the home blessing.

Stilllivinginazoo · 14/01/2019 11:16

Cuddling a baby sounds good planmercury

Hills good luck with the knee

Tada

Couldn't reach windows thru lil zoo mess
Wiped dd2 desk and bedside table

Stilllivinginazoo · 14/01/2019 11:17
