Flying Resolutions for the Fledglings

Ok. 1st of January.

It's a long running thread, but we like new people. Just be aware if we seem cliquey it is simply because some of us have known each other for many mumble mumble years.

Respect. We won't tell you what you are doing wrong if you don't tell us. hint if you tell us we are doing it wrong we will tell you you are wrong

Babysteps. If you are new start here. If you dropped off the fly wagon, start here. Basically start here.

Missions. Do these, if you start with the babysteps you will end up doing these during the course of the month.

Decluttering - you can't clean clutter. But experience has shown that fly lady is good for routines but there are other methods that work better for decluttering. Feel free to mix and match.

Emails - feel free sign up to them. Most of us don't because there can be a lot, ergo whilst you are welcome to sign up for them; we don't generally recommend it. especially as one of the babysteps is to delete them anyway

Linkies. We will be linking to the launch pad from there you can get to babysteps, missions, flight plans etc etc. Be aware that some don't update until the date that they are on (eg looking at the links before midnight on Monday will not show the information for Tuesday iyswim)

A treasured moment Eustacia. My DD loves Supergirl too.

Zoo sorry life is so hard with DS at the moment. You are doing all the right things, it is not yours or his fault that life is so trying for him right now.

Cag - sorry to hear about DH, that must be such a worry, hope the referral comes through quickly.

SC - "see" you soon hopefully, hope everything goes to plan.

Tibni - sorry to hear of your DS's issues today too, hope things improve soon, it sounds very difficult.

Hills - no, not much Flying Blush. I've been at work, then done a load of washing, chivvied DCs around aimlessly, created a lot of mess in the kitchen for DH to clear up and that's about all.

However yesterday we got all the spare bedding, Christmas decorations etc back up into the loft so that is a job out of the way. The decorations don't take up much space when they are up, but live in two very large plastic crates which have to be packed extremely carefully (lots of glass baubles) and the whole lot have been sitting on the dining room floor since the weekend. Spent a good hour last night packing them, with a curious cat "helping", which was quite realxing.

Find crumbs in the naughty corner but nothing else. Still I have filled my face enough tonight!

Foxes. At the moment still aloud to give cuddles which is just as well as my Year 6’s often throw their arms around me. Just not allowed to sit children on knees now to be fair I don’t really want the Year 6’s to sit on my knee...some of them are taller than me! And yes, it isn’t really appropriate at that age but a four year old who has just started school and is missing their mummy and there is another member of staff and 20 other kids in the room well it just makes me sad. If it comes to no hugs then I will be saying “ Here is my resignation.” Our old HT used to pop the little ones on his knee ( in Reception) if they were upset and he is a giant of a man so it looked so cute and they loved talking to him. I said one day, “ I wish I had a camera!” This minute child was sitting on his knee and he was wiping tears away with his big bear hands.

I think I know why we are not very good at housework it is because we have too much going on, too much to deal with and we’re knackered.

I haven’t done any flying other than feed the animals. I couldn’t get to sleep then I woke up several times then woke as usual between 3-4am. Woke just before 6:30 alarm but then put it on snooze because I didn’t want to get out of my cosy pit and my arm was completely numb so takes a little while. Got up and raced around at 7:30 and went to work. Dried my hair in the car. Was there on time by 5 mins. No one about. Then painted with several, playtime duty, phonics, readers. Lunch. Oh yes I did make a egg small baguette. Caught up on curriculum changes. Taught in KS2. Discussion after work. Chat to cleaner who is lovely and caught up on her family Christmas. She is really quite funny sometimes regaling stories about family life and she has had her fair share of problems. Stopped to look at stick vacuums to tie me over while dysentery gets fixed. Too tired to decide but bought a few bits in sale. Trivet, rubber spoon, spatula for new pans and two lots of napkins because I got a complaint on Christmas Day and they were only a £1 for twenty. Couldn’t get across to Lidl because of traffic. Couldn’t get parked opposite Co Op so might have parked further along next to Chinese take away.🤷🏼‍♀️Don’t know how I took a wrong turn.

Home. Cat fed.
Bowl out. Glass out, wine present which I found in car poured in.
TV on, food in. Yum.
Tea and biscuits. Fell asleep for over half an hour!
PJs on. DH rang. Hot toddy made bed. Did anyone see any flying. Must have been so fast you couldn’t see me😂😇😬

zoo train him up in kitchen skills. Mine works in a kitchen in a bar , well known chain. He actually manages on his own now in the mornings.Lots of prepackaged food but steaks are fresh to order. Tell him he will find something. If you look at some of the big people like Richard Branson, Sir ** from our village and the millionaire across the road none of them did well at school. They made their millions later. There is hope.what about getting to read some auto biographies from the library.
Hope those people that had a shit day find tomorrow is better.

Bowerbird5 · 10/01/2019 23:23

Cags sorry about DH news.
Tin I hope tomorrow is better.
Eustace ah the chink of light 😃

Meet I keep the QS / Roses 🥀 sweet tins to pack baubles in. Have lined them with bubble wrap and small things get wrapped first. Then tins go into big green and red Christmas box in the loft. I have two clear boxes for garlands, recycled bags, paper, crackers etc.

MeetOnTheledge · 11/01/2019 07:09

Bower -that's a good idea for the decorations. I put all the non breakable baubles in a deep layer in the bottom of my crate, then one of those card trays that apples sit in at the supermarket for glass ones, covered in a layer of bubnle wrap, then there are 4 plastic trays that hold 4 each from original packaging, more bubble wrap. All the non-bauble bits (we have a lot of stuff) go in a separate box. Two years ago I was super organised (Flylady would be impressed). I sorted a load out to get rid of, bagged them up and popped them back in the loft with a reminder on my phone to take them to the charity shop in September, which worked.

I do feel for you over the difficulties in your job. My DCs went to a small local primary school of which I have very fond memories for the most part (I have managed to blot out their complete failure to acknowledge DD's dyslexia or DS's need for a starement now). Because the DCs have SENs I was quite an involved parent, in KS1 when I was not battling with them I used to go in and help with reading regularly too. So I got to know a lot of the staff and it was lovely to see how hands on and cuddly they were with the children, a couple of TAs in particular made huge differences to my DCs. I did get the impression things weren't totally harmonious in the staffroom though.

Right, better get up.

Amazing what a cheerful child can do to your mood when you have forgotten what it is like Shock
Good day here. I have seen a friend this morning which was lovely, and then planned some fun things in the diary. Also booked hair appointments for the dds tomorrow. So, a bit of an organising kind of day.

I need to do some decluttering and sorting but not well enough for that so it can stay on to do list for a while.

Dd has therapist later so I have to kill time. Might go to pet shop, rather than the coffee shop, and look at little animals. She is desperate for a dog which we have vetoed, partly because of the cats and also our lifestyle.

continued...
foxes, I’m late with this but I loved your table Smile.

Did home bleugh today after a couple of days of lots of work and no flying. It takes me HOURS Confused.

Just waiting for DD1 to go to sleep and then I have called a calendar meeting with DH as we need to look at summer childcare, holidays, all that stuff. Rock and roll here on a Friday night Wink.

MogTheSleepyCat · 11/01/2019 21:44

I have purposely done FA today. Took a day of holiday from work and went into town, bought a few bit for my birthday and read my book in a coffee shop.

Sod you today Flylady, I'll see you tomorrow!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 11/01/2019 22:23

Mog Grin

Stilllivinginazoo · 11/01/2019 22:43

In RL D's is trying to take deep breaths whilst colouring.....

SassitudeandSparkle · 11/01/2019 22:57

Belated happy birthday Mog

Eustacia the smiling sounds like a win to me and I'm always in favour of grabbing every win you can.

Zoo you are bloody awesome, never forget that!

I spent some time this morning writing dates in my diary (paper, old school here) because I knew I'd need it this afternoon and I did.

Not done enough much flying today as was worried about DD's brace fitting which was today. Actually went better than expected, she has cleaned it very carefully tonight and the calpol seems to be keeping the pain down to an acceptable level (although this may change tomorrow).

We have struggled a bit this week too, all this enforced getting up and out for fixed times after a fortnight off! It's been a shock to the system and the Wine is out here.

Bowerbird5 · 12/01/2019 05:46

Sounds like an improvement Sass.
Thanks for🍷I need it.
Zoo I may have asked this before( tired) have you tried meditation with DS. Choir- been proved it is good for mental health. A lot of our choir members and the MD agree.
Cagswell done with the swimming. Wish I could get myself back into it.

Well not much flying here. After a restless nights I slept in. Had to jump up and get ready quickly got there in time but thought I might have an hour to plan went pear shaped due a melt down. Then did some planning with another person for next half term. No time for lunch just time for a wee and then reception. They were rather sweet.
Called into supermarket for fish and considered a new vacuum. I was browsing at Argos when someone came to help. Wondering whether to buy a cheaper stick one or the expensive dysentery 10. Does anyone have knowledge of them?

Flying limited to emptying and filling dishwasher.
Wiped worktops.
Fed cat.
Folded some washing left on the Everhot.

Need to do a lot more today.

Bowerbird5 · 12/01/2019 05:48

Belated birthday wishes Mog🎂

foxessocks · 12/01/2019 07:45

Morning all, hope some of you are getting some much needed rest this morning.

Our washing machine has broken beyond repair. We ordered a new one but we can't get it until next weekend. So I now have a whole week without a washing machine and the laundry pile is already overflowing!! On the positive side at least I managed to wash all dd school shirts and tights this week so she's got enough.

January is becoming very expensive Shock

Dh at work this morning so I'm just drinking the coffee he left me while the dc are playing together, I've got until they start fighting which probably won't be long...

Have a nice day everyone!

foxessocks · 12/01/2019 07:48

Happy birthday mog by the way, sorry I missed it was your birthday hope you had a lovely day.

I was in such a grump yesterday. Determined to be more positive today.

Stilllivinginazoo · 12/01/2019 07:52

sass sending painfree good vibes with the braces!
Bower only offered antidepressants and as he's just 13 and little more than a bag of bones I'm not comfortable with that til other options have been exhausted.no one can offer studies they are "safe" in early teen years and as the brains is still developing it worries me silly concept messing around with the chemicals in there (and let's not add the suicide risk rates of giving young boys ADs.i don't want a statistic I want my sonSad)choir was good.he wobbles, but we stayed and I think we all benefited from getting out tbh.on Sunday the new glass doors are being blessed so we are aiming to attend and go into Sunday school which is quieter once service is under way.fingers X!!

Well I got a princely 6hours uninterrupted sleep(snuggled and stroking his "third eye" for good 45mins had him settling ariund12 and I didn't wake til lil zoo turned on light and ask if I was asleep at 615...
Laid here on my phone I am now ready to get up and do some stuff should be able to put together at least half decent tada now I feel more awake and coherent than in bloody days!!

Agh SIL and co are visiting today. Asked us well in advance by their standards (yesterday afternoon 🙄). Managed to Potter around tidying a bit yesterday evening, still knackered this morning so haven’t done anything yet but DH is taking baby to ballroom with him and DD so I can get more done while free of the tiny tornado
