Flying Resolutions for the Fledglings

Ok. 1st of January.

It's a long running thread, but we like new people. Just be aware if we seem cliquey it is simply because some of us have known each other for many mumble mumble years.

Respect. We won't tell you what you are doing wrong if you don't tell us. hint if you tell us we are doing it wrong we will tell you you are wrong

Babysteps. If you are new start here. If you dropped off the fly wagon, start here. Basically start here.

Missions. Do these, if you start with the babysteps you will end up doing these during the course of the month.

Decluttering - you can't clean clutter. But experience has shown that fly lady is good for routines but there are other methods that work better for decluttering. Feel free to mix and match.

Emails - feel free sign up to them. Most of us don't because there can be a lot, ergo whilst you are welcome to sign up for them; we don't generally recommend it. especially as one of the babysteps is to delete them anyway

Linkies. We will be linking to the launch pad from there you can get to babysteps, missions, flight plans etc etc. Be aware that some don't update until the date that they are on (eg looking at the links before midnight on Monday will not show the information for Tuesday iyswim)

Mercury I'm with you.lil zoo is 11 and if she slams one more door of a morning the temptation to ensure her head is in it and slammed is becoming tooth itchingly desirable...I'm shocked to say dd2 (15 in April) seems to have mellowed in recent weeks and we still get pms related arsyness is overall increasingly pleasant to be arounswhen lured of social media

Not much achieved here as D's was super wobbly today and did only an hour in school.i had chance pop co op and discover no green top milk then return to collect him
Popped into wellbeing cafe at church in way home.spoke our rev about getting him back in there.choir has removed a disruptive element&-whin I think parents just wanted someone else put up kids for a bit tbh-- so we going back there Fri nights and on Sunday we have agreed he can start off in service then when Sunday school come out he will join lil zoo accompanied by me and dd2 and when they go back in for communion he can stay in hall and oiointo church after service to have a bit if reflective prayer.shes also offered any support to work with cahms that she can which was lovely and they were so pleased to see me and D's it's like coming home to a nice family❤️

Bouyed up took D's walk thru nature reserve and acquired milk on way back

foxessocks · 08/01/2019 16:11

Thanks all , I'm leaning towards baskets so I can chuck stuff in!

I'd love a plant on top sc but I don't have a good track record of keeping pot plants alive. In fact I asked dh for a pot plant for Xmas but he refused to buy me one! Grin (he did get me other stuff btw!). Maybe I need to live with it for a few days to decide.

Ta da
Meal plan and online food shop for next week
Took beef out of freezer for tomorrow
Folded washing
Hung up washing
More washing on
Dishwasher on
Tidied living room
Put new sheet on dd bed after milk spillage incident yesterday
School run

To do
Put washing away
Cook dinner - chicken Kiev (not home made!) , home made wedges, baked beans and stuffed mushrooms
Todays mission and decluttering (which I need to actually look at!)

Cagliostro · 08/01/2019 16:13

Hey guys. Not caught up yet.

Saw the doctor, am coming off paroxetine over the next 3-6 weeks as they really aren’t doing anything other than spacing me out, I’m still anxious etc. Trying to chase up referral for CMHT (it’s gotten lost in the system) so no plans to start anything else until I’ve seen them.

Also did a few other errands in town and bought a few bits for next Christmas like wrapping paper, and diaries for general stuff and home ed.

Made lovely soup in my soup maker too, spicy parsnip.

tibni · 08/01/2019 16:25

Ahhh struggling with back to work - I have a high pressure job and usually do long hours but I was in early this morning so left on time.
Home now and dh has left downstairs ok Smile but rather than sit down (I've been sitting most the day) I'm going to do jobs. So to do
Prep dinner (I took meat out for ds and dh and I'm veggie so omelette when they get in)
Unload dishwasher
Unload drier and do ironing and PUT IT AWAY (rather than leave in basket in our room)
Wipe ds prints off window
Prep lunch for tomorrow (hospital appointment with ds tomorrow afternoon so will be salad at desk before leaving)
Make ds lunch
Take tomorrow's dinner from freezer to fridge (curry I made couple of days ago)

I wiped kitchen units down other day so they are ok

Wish me luck!!!!

Stilllivinginazoo · 08/01/2019 17:52

Located dining table
Swept living room floor
Starting dinner

MogTheSleepyCat · 08/01/2019 18:15

Evening all,

Sorry you're feeling flat SC; its that time of year where it feels as though there isn't much to look forward to after the big Christmas and New Year shindigs.

Bower sounds like some time off to get back up to full strength is a good idea. Hope you feel better soon. You too Cag

Meet and Hills yes you are quite right about the LAs being snotty about private ADOS assessments. Ours is too (I checked) however, the team we are going to go privately with is made up of exactly the same people and even takes place in exactly the same room as the NHS ones. So our LA will accept ones done by them. We already have an EHCP for DS. We are lucky to be in a really fantastic school with truly wonderful staff who are so on board with us, I feel so thankful for them.

Tibni don't go burning out after work; its important to get some RnR!

Ta Da
Fed DS
Fed Dcats and sorted their litter tray
School Run - work - school run

Feeling very productive since getting home:
Put away food shop delivery
DW on
WM on
Fed cats
Cleared all coats off stair bannister
Hoovered bathroom, did high and low dusting
Polished shower screen, mirror and towel rail
Cleaned wash basin and loo
Steam cleaned bath
Steam mopped with lovely zoflora 'fresh linen' - house smells lovely now
Completely descaled wash basin tap

I'm going to rejoin slimming world this evening, anyone else here do it?

Stilllivinginazoo · 08/01/2019 18:39

mogmy sister lost 5stone following their plan
I too like fresh linen zoflora(some flowery ones are too much for me)
Little ones eating/arguing(D's start worry about tomorrow.lil zoo in her normal argumentative mood "don't want hot tea,why can't have sandwiches"you had a sandwich packed lunch and I want you to eat a warm meal rather than moan how cold you are all the bloody time in our freezing cold house that's why and "ugh.plums.why can't I have an apple?because plums need using up and that's why I offered you are rare no choice fruit option but since when did plums register as urgh

Oh and I've been informed she now hates party ringsAngrycan't possibly be one of my children then...
As she's df it adds spanner to the works try find lunchbox treats.no longer will eat lotus biscuits and is "bored" of mini gingerbread men

Stilllivinginazoo · 08/01/2019 18:40

*throbbing last nerve

Slightlycoddled · 08/01/2019 19:26

Oh dear Zoo I guess the start of term is affecting all of us adversely to some degree! [Proffers Cake Brew and noise cancelling headphones.]

Hope your ds's hospital appt goes well tomorrow Tibni

Mog and Tibni you both put me to shame having achieved so much after working; bloomin' well done Star Star. I didn't work today and didn't get half so much done!

Mog that's so lovely to hear about the teachers at your ds's school. Hope assessment goes well and results in good support. I'm not doing slimming world but I need to lose 20 kg Blush. Have bought some excellent Hairy Biker diet recipe books though! And need to get clothes moved off exercise book and start using it! High and low dusting sounds like excellent exercise btw! Grin. Oh yes, I lost half a stone over Christmas running around after everyone!

Great list as ever Foxes!

Hope CMHT referral doesn't take too long Cag.

Wing flaps to everyone else!

Today was admittedly a bit of a struggle and progress was impeded by having to spend a lot of time with attention-seeking puppy but ta da:
emptied dw
S&S
put away more decs (still some to go)
'green' recycling
walked furries lunch time (dh did early and late)
soup lunch with dh
meal planning
on-line supermarket order
sorted laundry and put on 2 loads
bought flowers to cheer myself up (got two bunches for price of one so delivered one to friend, had a quick natter)
made chilli

Need to start being a more time efficient if I am going to actually make progress with certain projects rather then just deal with day-to-day stuff. Think I also need something to do that is creative/mentally stimulating as contrast ifyswim in order to spur me on.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Slightlycoddled · 08/01/2019 19:28

Weekend? Bit of a Freudian slip there! Grin

Meant evening!!

tibni · 08/01/2019 19:30

@MogTheSleepyCat my ds has Asd, adhd and additional comorbids
I also work for the dark side, feel free to pm me if you are unsure of anything. Different LA will vary but the code of practice applies to us all.
Tada - I did it and now am snuggling on sofa with ds and his blanket (you are never too old for a blanket) and dh has made coffee
My problem is if I sit down when I get in I'm not good at shifting my bum 😊

foxessocks · 08/01/2019 19:34

sc I'm with you about trying to fit in more than the day to day, I never get round to it and that includes time for hobbies , I haven't played the piano in weeks.

I think this is the best thing to go on my new table - a cold G&TGrin

Flying Resolutions for the Fledglings
Slightlycoddled · 08/01/2019 19:43

Cheers Foxes! Definitely best use of table top Grin
Fwiw you always seem to be very efficient and consistent to me! And you have two very small DC which doesn't leave a lot of time for anything else! Not much room for improvement there imho!

Sofa snuggling sounds good Tibni. Smile

Loads of people were recommending Lakeland heated blankets on the "products that changed my life" thread. Must say I am tempted but was a bit Shock to discover they are over £70!

Bowerbird5 · 08/01/2019 19:54

Wishful thinking SC!

Went to M&S express shop. Was hoping for some bargains but only pigs in blankets at £2.65 so I didn’t bother. Bought some onions and some mince. Made soup with squash, sweet potatoes, parsnips and onions. Think I will also add some spicy / curry to it when I blitz it.
We all seem to be on with similar soup making. Split mince into cottage pie with mash of above mixed with potato and added tomatoes from yesterday for Spaghetti. Bol. Cooking on hot plate and moving pans around. Also rest of red cabbage and 3/4 of an apple 🍏.
Got a load of logs in.
Fed cat,again!
Filter looks dry so may vacuum later.
Been job hunting.
Doing sitting room instead of kitchen today. Nearly done, could have been if I had been less lazy.

Some have big lists🏆

Bowerbird5 · 08/01/2019 19:56

😃🍸mmm.

Cagliostro · 08/01/2019 19:58

I may PM you myself at some point if that’s alright tibni

Suspected multiple comorbids with both Caglets

MeetOnTheledge · 08/01/2019 20:51

I have a Lakeland heated throw. I love, love it. We hardly have our heating on in the evenings now. The cats love it too.

Mog - sounds as though you are on top of things SEN-wise. I have had so much help and support in this respect from others on this thread over the years. Tibni - interesting that you are involved professionally. I have to say that although I've had to fight hard I have very much felt it has been against the system rather than the people running it.

I cheered up after posting my moans earlier. Although traffic jams made my journey to work an hour rather than 20mins, luckily we have flexible hours. Work was good today, the weather was beautiful if cold, I drive home cross country mid-afternoon and the fields were so green with their new grass in the low sun.

Ta da!

Stripped DD bed and wash sheets
Put away all the spare bedding from last weeks guests (no spare room here so camping beds, spare duvets etc).
Started boxing up Christmas decs taken down at weekend.
Two lots washing
Dinner cooked
DW run
Elastic lace replacements into new football boots (with much cursing, fiddly)
Emails etc

Now crocheting while watching Harry Potter with DS.

Stilllivinginazoo · 08/01/2019 20:53

bower I like root ginger and pinch cumin in root soups..
SC glad you got the flowers, after the slaving away at Xmas you deserve it and super wow loosing weight over xmasStar
FoxesGrinat table adornment

Everyone fed and watered
Washed up
Wiped surfaces
Wiped dining table

I only ate half hour ago but could murder couple slices bread n marmite..might stop fighting it and apply to face as watch TV😋

tibni · 08/01/2019 21:05

@MeetOnTheledge I'm firstly a SEN mum and I do my utmost for students and families I have contact with. I know the system and how complicated and stressful it can be. My ds turns 18 soon and I'm currently negotiating the nightmare that is adult services.
But tonight I have my new procrastination pens and a job description before me and a decision to make about throwing my hat in the ring with the additional worry of balancing ds and work, which is never easy!

tibni · 08/01/2019 21:11

@Cagliostro, sorry missed your comment. Yes no problem - it's been a long time since I did pm so if I miss shout at me as not pm on phone before!

HillsBesideTheSea · 08/01/2019 21:40

tibni remind me to curb my words if I get out of line. My opinion of CAMHS, schools and LEAs is very very tainted. nothing to do with the fact that school was surprised ds was diagnosised I was surprised he was so badly affected. Nope I have very few nice things to say about the system these days.

ta da
Work
Exam
try to sort Teenager's issues
Not kill anybody
Try to sort contact weekends for ds with his dad - complicated atm due to commitments on many sides

OP posts:
tibni · 08/01/2019 22:00

@HillsBesideTheSea i will never take offence and probably wouldn't disagree. It's not been a smooth ride with ds either and still isn't. Fascinating how many of us SEN parents are on a housekeeping thread. It doesn't get any easier having professionals constantly in and out our homes and feeling judged! Many years ago a disability worker told me at anytime she could spot visit and look at living conditions for my ds - that worker is long gone but I've never forgot Sad

Stilllivinginazoo · 08/01/2019 22:04

If you manage not to commit murder hills I'd always class that as a win!!

Lil zoo been down for a drink and a dig as dd2 for being on her(new)laptop shes antsy her tablet been confiscated yet again due to not getting off it when told and sneaking it on at night and a sarcastic jab at me.clenched fists and didn't bite back.she also shouted at D's when he beg her turn music down(was told not play it once in bed as agitates him)and trigger full in panic attack and tears which she told him to shut up.shes absolutely horrible at moSad

Slightlycoddled · 08/01/2019 22:50

Oh dear Zoo that sounds like tough going. Here's hoping tomorrow is better!

HillsBesideTheSea · 08/01/2019 23:10

Ds accidentally made me jump whilst I was sorting a hot water bottle. Burnt boob hurts Sad

Zoo flamming hell. PLease tell me you have shares in hard hats? Sad

Giggles have been had, but how I am still alive after all my clutsiness today it getting to the point of disbelief atm. Blush
