Flying Resolutions for the Fledglings

Ok. 1st of January.

It's a long running thread, but we like new people. Just be aware if we seem cliquey it is simply because some of us have known each other for many mumble mumble years.

Respect. We won't tell you what you are doing wrong if you don't tell us. hint if you tell us we are doing it wrong we will tell you you are wrong

Babysteps. If you are new start here. If you dropped off the fly wagon, start here. Basically start here.

Missions. Do these, if you start with the babysteps you will end up doing these during the course of the month.

Decluttering - you can't clean clutter. But experience has shown that fly lady is good for routines but there are other methods that work better for decluttering. Feel free to mix and match.

Emails - feel free sign up to them. Most of us don't because there can be a lot, ergo whilst you are welcome to sign up for them; we don't generally recommend it. especially as one of the babysteps is to delete them anyway

Linkies. We will be linking to the launch pad from there you can get to babysteps, missions, flight plans etc etc. Be aware that some don't update until the date that they are on (eg looking at the links before midnight on Monday will not show the information for Tuesday iyswim)

sc I'm with you on the January blues. I've had a lovely time having all of us at home for a few weeks. And ds starts nursery school tomorrow Sad I don't really want him to go now!

Me and dd went to see Mary Poppins this afternoon which was lovely. Her little face! She kept whispering "wow" under her breath 😍

Ta das
Went for run
Went to Asda
Picked up various parcels from various places
Washing on
Dh changed the dc bed sheets
Dishwasher emptied
Did a little bit of work
Helped dd with her tiny bit of "homework" and put in her bag for tomorrow
Put nappies and wipes in ds bag for tomorrow
Sink is wiped down and dishwasher loaded

Hope you find those books toostressy! I have found dd book but can't find her reading record but we have until Wednesday to hand those in so I'm ignoring the problem!

SassitudeandSparkle · 06/01/2019 21:21

I am dreading it all starting up again tomorrow, I have loved the break!

DD also has a 2 week timetable, it is in her planner and on the school's website though. The calendar in her planner is just shades of grey, the full colour version on the school website is much easier to read!

Need to iron some shirts tonight and clean the kitchen. Have done some laundry today and thrown out some houseplants that were past their best or DOA! We have more to take their place so not a problem.

Wii battle tonight was Just Dance. Surprisingly tiring.

Will do a big list tomorrow and start working through the tasks. I need to hold a planning meeting with myself over breakfast Grin

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 06/01/2019 21:39

I’ve just had a planning meeting with myself but lost the will half way through Grin. Some planning is better than nothing at least.

MeetOnTheledge · 06/01/2019 21:46

Mine aren't back at school till Tues and Weds (INSET days, different schools). There is still homework to do but PE kits are sorted. Planning has consisted of trying to work out whether Scouts, ballet etc start back this week or next. About half and half.

Slightlycoddled · 06/01/2019 21:56

I've just had a planning meeting with myself, but I was a no show Confused

Thanks very much Toostressy and passing Flowers forward to Foxes Sass and anyone else with the January blues.

Could the missing books be under beds, under piles of paper, under pillows, under sofa cushions, under sofa itself, in drawers, in car?

Hope your ds enjoys nursery Foxes and hope you are ok Flowers

Hills I like your ds's non-shilly-shallying approach Grin and may I reserve hit squad for potential future deployment please?

Hope everything goes well for everyone returning to work /school tomorrow.

Slightlycoddled · 06/01/2019 21:58

X post
Good luck for Tues & Wed Meet!

Bowerbird5 · 06/01/2019 22:35

Books...try down the side of the bed if bed against the wall.

Well!
Been to Mass.
been to choir.
Drank two large Whisky Macs for medicinal purposes. Of course.
Today DD made lunch while I packed tree up. Then she came and helped. DD made supper and it was lovely. She really is quite a good, natural cook. She made sweet potatoes with tomato, beans and avocado. Possibly some Jack Fruit in it too. A big dollop of Helmanns vegan mayo which is delicious. So I think we have all the decorations down but not all are packed away yet. She braved it and went into the loft but I don’t know whether she closed it so we might have mice or bats tomorrow. I think all the bats should have gone now but never sure when they go.
Debating whether to go to work tomorrow. I was quite tears at church. We have two friends who are very ill. One has leukaemia and the other terminal cancer. The one with leukaemia usually spends Christmas with us for last ten years or more. I can’t go and visit as I have a cold and his presents were still under the tree. He wasn’t well on Christmas Day and stayed in bed all day.
The situation at work is awful and I just feel teary at random times.it doesn’t help that I am full of cold, asthma and getting over the slipped discs, back has been sore today. I feel like a few days at home might help but hate letting people down.
I didn’t get much done other than the decs and washing up. I fell asleep on the sofa at 7 pm. Dad woke me several times and told me to go to bed. I went at 9. Woke up for a wee wee.

I’ve are you definitely pregnant? If so.
You could be I’veabunintheoven!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 06/01/2019 22:37

Oh Bower, life can be so cruel for people can’t it Sad?

Bowerbird5 · 06/01/2019 22:38

Sorry I meant to say. Job I haven’t heard anything more. She sounded interested but never arranged meeting so maybe to busy with end of year. The other one I would be working more than now which I am not sure if I can manage and I have never taught adults though I do have a qualification for adults but not for children. A bit mad isn’t it?😝

MercuryRising · 06/01/2019 23:06

Congratulations I've how many weeks are you?

In our house reading books always used to hide under the sofa or beds when ds1 and dd were younger. After listening to umpteen children read Biff, Chip and bloody Kipper at work that is the part of Ds3 and 4s future schooling I dread the most... although we have a couple of years yet so Im hoping for a more interesting reading scheme by then (how naive!!)

Todays flying has consisted mostly of utter despair that the house descends into complete chaos if I have even 1 slight off day. Why does nobody else notice mess??

Ta da
Christmas tree and decs put away,
Toys in living room tidied and moved into reclaimed space.
Popped to shops to get resources for dds homework project.
Hunted for dds missing school trousers (how is that even possible after two weeks of holidays?!)
Bathed all dc and got into bed with ds3 at 8 (we are on the 1st feed of the night) he didn't settle until 2 last night and we have to be up at 7 tomorrow so I am taking no chances - I cannot function on 3 hours sleep!!

Good luck to all those returning to normality tomorrow.

Slightlycoddled · 07/01/2019 06:17

Morning all!

Hope you got a decent night's sleep Mercury or some sleep at least!

Bower very sorry to hear about your friends who are seriously ill Flowers. Good luck at work today if you do go in.

Feeling a bit cheerier this morning as DD just said (totally unsolicited) that Christmas "was one of the best ever" Smile

Right, pulling on big girl's pants now. It's billing in the office today (groan).

Hope everyone has a good one! And good luck to your ds Zoo!

Stilllivinginazoo · 07/01/2019 06:23

EustaciaVye · 07/01/2019 06:37

Hi all.
Far too much to respond too but just wanted to say to bower you must be very proud of your Dd. She sounds very talented.

I am still ill from NYE but back to work today Hmm. Cleaner comes today though so at least house will be hoovered and bathroom clean when I get home. I know it's kind of cheating but I can't do everything.

MercuryRising · 07/01/2019 06:39

Morning SC we got a good nights sleep thank you. What a lovely thing for your dd to say. Hope your morning gets better zoo.

To do
Complete morning routine and get dd to school without any major stress.
Home blessing
Collect prescription
2 smallest ds to singing group
Washing
Ironing

Happy Monday everyone.

MercuryRising · 07/01/2019 06:41

Cross posted with Eustacia - hope you feel better. I would love a cleaner and definitely do not think it is cheating.

HillsBesideTheSea · 07/01/2019 08:06

A cleaner is not cheating it is delegating and delegating is encouraged! Grin

Running late, ds needed to be up half an hour ago. Basically normality/reality has returned with a mahoosive BANG!

OP posts:
HillsBesideTheSea · 07/01/2019 08:31

Cagliostro · 07/01/2019 11:33

Ooh I keep reading to catch up and forgetting to post 😳🙄😂

Am ok just knackered. But it is awesome having DH home. He’s got a cancellation for rheumatologist on Thursday which is about six weeks earlier than the original one.

foxessocks · 07/01/2019 12:28

Well ds loved his first morning at nursery! He cried because he didn't want to leave! Obviously I'm fully expecting the novelty to wear off but I'll enjoy it while I can.

I've been working all morning so as soon as ds finishes lunch I'm going to attempt to put him to bed for a bit then try and get some house stuff done!

HillsBesideTheSea · 07/01/2019 15:55

Hello all.

Ta da:-
Found the books - thanks so much everyone. They were in an old rucksack under her bed
Hoovered and tidied under DD1’s bed as had said to her I may as well while I was there

Back in a bit!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 07/01/2019 16:55

Ta da continued:-
Dropped some bits at charity shop including an awkward slightly bulky thing so that is a definite win
Booked DD2’s party. Need to fill in the forms tonight but provisionally booked over the phone
Did some dance related admin for both girls
Enquired about holiday options
Went to gym
Tea planned as is ready meal Grin. Monday nights are busy.

Am at gymnastics now. Half way through wiring a thank you card; DD1 has signed, need DD2 to do it when she comes out.

Glad to hear DH has earlier appt . Great that DS liked nursery and that DD liked Mary Poppins foxes. Good luck with revision Hills. Eust*, I agree with the others. Definitely not cheating to have a cleaner!

Big wing flaps to all.
