[santa][santa][santa][santa][santa][santa][santa]
A warm welcome to the December (dare I say Christmas?!) Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

We are a long running thread but always welcome new members; the more the merrier Smile.

The new slimline structure seems to work well so I will stick with that. I will leave some links in this OP and then some quick links in the daily posts. Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn! Especially at this time of year.

A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is here.

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

I’m sure I don’t need to tell anyone that it is getting close to Christmas so there are holiday missions here.

December’s habit is usually pampering yourself but has not uploaded yet; I’ll link it tomorrow.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to SC for a lovely November thread. FlowersCakeBrewWine

Thank you exam was yesterday, she isn’t sure how it went, scored highly in all the practices but who knows!

However she did find out today that her ballroom exam the other week got her a Highly Commended! Foxtrot and Tango. She’s always got Commended before and just a couple of marks off HC, so she is ecstatic!

I had a fabulous morning, seeing Wreck it Ralph 2, it was absolutely worth the wait. Then a nice lunch with friend. However it all went a bit wrong at the end as the clubcard voucher process went wrong and it took ages to sort. Then taxi issues on the way home when my phone also died, by which point I was worrying about baby missing me too, so I was a bit of a wreck by the time I got home.

We've just been out and got our Christmas Tree - from a farm where they grow them, you walk around the field, pick your tree and they cut it down for you.

That's one of the few things I have bought for Christmas though - got stocking fillers for us but everyone else is losing out at the moment! Will get on to that next week. Probably ...

No flying yet, I have a gap between now and Strictly that I should use well.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 08/12/2018 21:00

Christmas tree farm sounds lovely Sass. Hope you got some flying done before Strictly. Well done to your DD for ballroom Cag Star. Hope you feel a bit better now. I often feel that parenting in general is full of highs and lows.

Big wing flaps to everyone else, will pop links on next and then had better do downstairs. DD2 has been asleep for over 15 mins and I have been enjoying the quiet and Mumsnet up in her room Grin.

Hello!

I'm not new to 'flying' but I am rather lapsed! Although, having read through a lot of the information on the website again, a lot of it seems to have stuck - I'm definitely more in control than I was before I first stumbled across flylady (a decade ago?)...but no where near where I would like to be!

I've been concentrating on removing 'body clutter' for the last 2 months - that's ticking away nicely (still a long way to go) and I need a new focus as I feel like I'm wishing away time and focusing on that too much.

I'm going back to basics and starting the 31 baby-steps again. Sinks here I come...

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 09/12/2018 11:49

Welcome Kings Smile. It’s fairly quiet on this thread atm, presume people are just very busy at this time of year. Nice to have you on the thread.

SassitudeandSparkle · 09/12/2018 12:10

Welcome Kings well done on the body clutter removal (often harder than the house).

Have done nothing apart from cooked breakfast and slept this morning. May have to make a strong coffee to kickstart me for the afternoon Grin

IVEgottheJINGLEBELLS · 09/12/2018 13:18

I am still rough as fuck

I have sorted an extension for the uni essay rhough

And ordered ds3 £90 worth of stuff for £40, ty ELC!

KingsScorn · 09/12/2018 13:32

Thank you for the warm welcome Smile

I've done a few things house things this morning but nothing too taxing. Skipped to day 2 and gave my face a good scrub, wash and moisturise this morning. I admit that my beauty routines have been very lacking. It feels nice! I will be shining those sinks before I go to bed this evening though and doing some flying lessons.

Yes, getting going with the body clutter took a long time to properly get round to. Now time to throw another ball up in the air!

Sorry you are feeling rough IVEgottheJINGLEBELLS - must be a relief to get the extension so you can concentrate on getting better first.

FestiveForestieraNoel · 09/12/2018 14:18

Glad to hear it I've. Hope you are on the mend.

Hi Kings - there is a naughty corner with comfy blankets and virtual stollen and mulled wine

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 09/12/2018 14:24

I’ll add mulled wine and chocolate eclairs to the naughty corner later for anyone who wants to mix it up Xmas Grin.

OP posts:
TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 09/12/2018 14:28

White wine, sorry! I’ll have a glass of the mulled wine while I’m in there though.

Thanks toostressy

I could do with a body declutter too. I'm having the odd treat over Christmas but not zantac requiring levels of gluttony.

HillsBesideTheSea · 09/12/2018 15:07

ta da
Not as much as I should have done this morning

to do
far more than I want to be doing.

Feeling all spaced out in a nice relaxed way, which is not actually helping the motivation to do all the things...

Who has the pointy stick?

Stilllivinginazoo · 09/12/2018 15:55

I snapped it in a fit of rage hills
At this time I'm whittling a new one with my grinding teeth having been Xmas shopping with dp......

I've please tell me rest your clan aren't down too...are you the first or the last(nothing worse trying manage house+ lively kids when you are rougher than a badgers arse)

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 09/12/2018 16:04

————————————————->

This is so ungrateful I know but can someone please just wake me up when Christmas is over? Just identified yet another diary clash. On the plus side the visit from my parents was actually ok with limited criticisms, only one argument between me and DH and at some points it was actually very nice.

KingsScorn · 09/12/2018 16:31

This naughty corner sounds amazing! I'm tempted to go straight there now after spending the last two hours chatting in the jacuzzi at the local spa with a friend... Oh no - it's fine! Just remembered it is pampering month!

I de-cluttered Christmas a few years back after a major grumpy meltdown. I like it now! I think.

I'm off to shine my sinks; do 15 mins of something; take a flying lesson. Banning myself from posting until that is done!

I

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 09/12/2018 16:45

I have opened the wine. Decluttering Christmas seems like a good idea!

foxessocks · 09/12/2018 18:33

I did the same yesterday with some wine we ordered for Christmas 🍷 had to check it was ok obviously!!

I've had a ridiculously busy weekend. We've had unexpected visitors who stayed for dinner, two supermarket visits (due to unexpected visitors!), A birthday party, I've worked and we went out with some friends too. Ds has got a cold and is croaky and grumpy, I think I'm going the same way. Dd has a lot of stuff going on at school this week too. I would like to hide under a blanket for a little while tbh...

My to do list is huge and my calendar is full up with no room left on it. Argh! I'm not a Scrooge honestly!
