[santa][santa][santa][santa][santa][santa][santa]
A warm welcome to the December (dare I say Christmas?!) Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

We are a long running thread but always welcome new members; the more the merrier Smile.

The new slimline structure seems to work well so I will stick with that. I will leave some links in this OP and then some quick links in the daily posts. Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn! Especially at this time of year.

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is here.

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

I’m sure I don’t need to tell anyone that it is getting close to Christmas so there are holiday missions here.

December’s habit is usually pampering yourself but has not uploaded yet; I’ll link it tomorrow.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to SC for a lovely November thread. FlowersCakeBrewWine

Sorry Zoo very hard for you I meant

and that link didn't work

tis what the Flemish dc sing on 6 Dec!
SlightlyCoddled · 06/12/2018 22:23

Oh yes and good luck Toostressy volunteering tomorrow!

And Bower did your dh get home ok last night in the end?

SassitudeandSparkle · 06/12/2018 22:23

I am still administering calpol by the bucketful here, additional dental reasons as well. A bit of flying earlier in the week but it has faded - must get back on it tomorrow.

How annoying about the consent thing - I am surprised they didn't ring stressy

SC I hope your DH is OK, I accompanied mine to another appointment this morning, just the GP. Feels like an endless stream of appointments even though it's nowhere near that. Yet another medication even though he seems fine and wants to cut them down really!

Might hit a bit more of my Prosecco Advent Calendar tonight - it's going well!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 06/12/2018 22:35

Thanks all. Putting my parents off would just make things worse plus the girls love seeing them.

Sorry to hear Calpol still in use Sass, definitely go for more of the calendar Smile. zoo Flowers.

Forestier Grin at signing up for emails.

Going to admit defeat tonight and hope for better things tomorrow.

He got back late and demanded I open the door.

Had a good day with kids and then a crap time before I left when I got told off for saying something about the cuts. She went to town on me. Says I should not be complaining just get on with it. I actually had a row with her about it something I have never down before. I am probably going to resign tomorrow.
She made me miss the builders to and late for the painter. No bloody water till the end of next week 💦 at earliest. It is adding to the stress.
I had a booked meal with church tonight and I am glad I went I manage to switch off for a bit. I may have partaken in a bit of 🍷 and gin.
The food thankfully was lovely. Prawn cocktail, roast quail, zabaglioni made specially for me. Yummy.
One more day this week.

Bowerbird5 · 06/12/2018 23:47

No flying done except making my bed.

Stilllivinginazoo · 07/12/2018 06:07

Well I'm up!
DS having bloods taken at hospital today(not something he's good with so go cream to numb him before we go as well as spray they put on kids there)
Then bit Xmas shopping to do
Bbl
Gave good day everyone!

SassitudeandSparkle · 07/12/2018 08:47

Good morning! Have made pancakes for breakfast (soft food for most of today as chewing will be tricky for DD) and DD has a busy day of planned as her school is shut today. Calpol still needed and not hitting the pain as much as I'd like but we'll see how the day goes.

Have done tiny bit of washing up today so far, a lot more to go! Also need to put dry laundry away and clean my tiny (f)utility room.

Hopefully back later, have a good morning everyone!

SassitudeandSparkle · 07/12/2018 09:56

Happy birthday Cag (it is today, isn't it?) Cake StarCake

Thinking of SC as well, I know her DH is not well at the moment Xmas Sad sending hugs lovely lady.

Thanks lovelies!
Anyone want two adult cinema tickets? I have two leftover clubcard codes that we won’t get to use (already seeing grinch shortly and wreck it Ralph at the weekend) I have posted this elsewhere too but do ask if you’d like them, they expire Monday. You just have to put the code in when booking (cineworld)

SlightlyCoddled · 07/12/2018 13:27

Many happy returns Cag! Hope you have a lovely day!👴🎂🎈🎉🍰

Good luck to your ds at the hospital Zoo hope blood test goes ok.

Thinking of you today Bower -that sounds like a horrible work situation - and what a horrible woman!

Hope you have a better day today Toostressy! Good luck with your parents' visit Gin

Thanks for kind words Sass - much appreciated - and hope your DD's tooth pain eases quickly.

We had awful/ eventful night. Dh had an "episode" almost as soon as he lay down to sleep but it was worse than previous ones, so we went straight to a &e in a cab. Again tested heart, blood pressure, monitored over several hrs, urine tested no signs of infection everything fine. Told to go back to gp and explore other avenues. We have last doc appt tonight.

Left hospital at around 4.30 am so shattered today. All events for weekend cancelled. No idea what is going on!

Anyway just came on here to say I will be disappearing off thread for a bit (in-laws travelling over to "help") and to focus on dh/events here.

Good luck with all the frantic Christmas prep fledglings, keep warm and keep well! And Bower if you do resign today, remember it is very much their loss Flowers

Humungous festive wing flaps to all!
Tally-hoooooo, ho, ho ho 🎅🎄🎅🎄🎅!!!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 07/12/2018 13:29

Oooh when do they have to be used by Cag? Hoping to go with the girls to see the Nutcracker but won’t be until school Xmas holidays and probably after Xmas. Hope you’re having a nice birthday.

Hope your DD manages to enjoy her day off and is not in too much pain Sass. Hope blood tests went ok zoo. Bower, I thought I was aware of how bad cuts were with working in the NHS but the programme School has shocked even me and I bet that’s not the half of it.

Ta da:-
Helped at school event
Went to gym
Spoke to DD2’s class teacher about her missing the trip. She was instantly apologetic so I think that’s fair enough. I do think I sent the form in and they lost it which doesn’t bother me, it’s the not checking. But she said sorry repeatedly so I’m happy to move on and hope it was just one of those things. Luckily the school thing today will have been lovely for the kids so hopefully that’s taken her mind off it.

Plan is for me to tidy today and DH will do home bleugh tomorrow morning before my parents get here. I have less than an hour before I need to get stuff ready to pick the girls up so it was never going to get done today.

To do:-
Stash and dash Tidy as much as possible
As much laundry as possible
Make packed tea
Get swim stuff ready
School pick up, swimming etc.

Catch everyone later.

Xpost SC. Flowers. I think you need to ask for the GP to start again and try to do a systematic review to try to look again. Obviously I don’t know how your system works but can you book a double appointment? Or manage a private appointment where they could be super thorough? I’m sure he is stressed now with all this happening but worth looking at stress as well. I think if you have a suppprtive GP then it is worth (if you haven’t already) saying you have never seen him like this and that you are both worried and emphasise that this is unusual for him.

As you say, both impossible and irresponsible to diagnose over the internet so will be thinking of you Flowers.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post that Toostressy when you have less than an hour to turn things around before you head out again! V kind indeed! Will definitely take your advice and it's much appreciated! I 'm obviously a bit worried, but we are lucky that health care system A1 here and easily accessible and fingers crossed we'll get to the bottom of it eventually!

Good luck with your frantic day(s)!

Cagliostro · 07/12/2018 16:38

They have to be used by Monday stressy

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 07/12/2018 16:46

Not to worry then, thanks anyway Cag.

✅got up on time to have breakfast out and was assertive when restaurant were wrong about something (we took our business elsewhere) ended up with maple bacon pancakes and a coke float, epic birthday feast!
✅replied to various messages which made me nervous
✅phoned people to arrange scan
✅helped DD get ready for ballet exam and sleepover

Bowerbird5 · 08/12/2018 06:57

Good morning everyone.

Cags Belated birthday wishes💐🎂🌻🌻🌻
Too stressy yes it shows some of the difficulties. We are not allowed to spend any money now. No subsidised school trips, books 📚 and paper now restricted. I always thought paper was wasted though.
NHS you can see how stressed some of the staff are.
SC hope you DH improves soon.
Sass glad yours seems on the mend.
Seems to be a lot of illness around.
The mention of pancakes has made me want some.
The stress up to Christmas has started. Two weeks to go of stressed out staff, excited children and grumpy parents. Lovely!

Going to a Farmers market today...to sing! Our choir gets about. I didn’t go to this venue last year but the others said it was great and they have asked us back.😀

IVEgottheJINGLEBELLS · 08/12/2018 08:27

I have the fucking flu

I have had it all week.

It is nearly christmas and i am not ready

I have an essay to write by thursday

I broke my laptop

House is in full on shit hole mode

Everything hurts and weekend is not long enough

SadAngryBlush

FestiveForestieraNoel · 08/12/2018 09:38

I've get an extension for the essay.
Leave the house alone - it won't fall down.
Prioritise Santa presents, buy online or phone a friend with working computer.

Realistically you have another week of recovery. Don't push yourself or you'll prolong the illness. Do bare minimum of everything and just get better.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 08/12/2018 09:43

Bower, I think you just summed up Christmas with young children there Grin. Good luck to your DD for ballet exam if it is today Cag. I’ve not had a coke float for years! Ive BrewCakeFlowers. I agree with Forestier, can you do online shopping for Xmas presents if you have not done them? I know the laptop is broken but could you do an Amazon order on your phone? Just beware lots of comments about them delivering unwrapped stuff so don’t let be kids see them!
