A warm welcome to the December (dare I say Christmas?!) Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

We are a long running thread but always welcome new members; the more the merrier Smile.

The new slimline structure seems to work well so I will stick with that. I will leave some links in this OP and then some quick links in the daily posts. Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn! Especially at this time of year.

A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is here.

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

I’m sure I don’t need to tell anyone that it is getting close to Christmas so there are holiday missions here.

December’s habit is usually pampering yourself but has not uploaded yet; I’ll link it tomorrow.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to SC for a lovely November thread. FlowersCakeBrewWine

I don't know how but I managed to miss your post about your ds and you having such a bad night Dani hope things are improving Flowers

Never did car decluttering either until a former poster on here - Knitting iirc - posted about having wet wipes (or more environmentally friendly equiv) and plastic bin bags with you in car when you are dropping the dc off anywhere you have to wait - and using the time to quickly chuck out rubbish/wipe down steering wheel, dashboard and window interieurs etc. Killing two birds with one stone! (You could include a small dust pan and brush too I guess!)

Have a great night out Toostressy! And don't worry about tidying up for baby-sitter! You deserve a worry free night out and you can tidy up tomorrow when the DC and her have had their fun!

Morning.
Sort awake and half asleep in stages🤪

Slept in yeaterday and had to rush. Went singing for charity x2 in town. There was a Christmas market on but it was mostly food. Bought bottle of gin for Christmas, some lemon curd and a burger. Some earrings for someone.
Later bought fresh crab and smallrack of lamb for lunch / tea whichever. Bumped into best friend and family as grandson was singing after us. Was invited for tea so I went and bought some chicken while they went home.had good chat with her. She looks so organised for Christmas.
So had day off but now massively behind. Friend likes the half done kitchen.need to wash three loads. Have no leggings left for work but found pair of jeggings I forgot I had. Cat unhappy about being left again so not sure whether to come home after Mass or go to sons to wash. Cut out a reindeer for window. I am attempting an Advent window top and bottom.

Ta das yesterday
Some shopping.
Bought presents for each class. Just need Year 6 now.
Fed animals and just got to shop for chicken feed on way home.

To do
Clean bathroom
Vacuum
Tidy (a bit)
Dust (forget it)
Clean out car so I can pick up Conductor and pianist.

Zoo that is a massive list. Sorry about toe. Tell the muttering one” I am teaching you how to be independent. Then as you know it all you will be able to move out one day.” That might shut her up for a bit. It worked here.
SC good idea about car. I sometimes have a quick tidy if at the station early.
Waves to everyone. Have a good day.

Do has decided to be helpful and offer to take me shopping despite working Friday lunch time til this morning(8am) and back there 230pm today til 230pm tomorrow.i suspect the ulterior motive is food related(I always feed him and send with pack up) but today I'm just grateful I've not got try hobble too far esp as my chest is really really tight when I'm moving[dodgy old person grumbling aches and pains emoticon]

Hope everyone else has nicer start to the day!!

zoo just a thought. Have you seen GP? It actually sounds like gout. DH gets it.

I have severe pain in hip and knee joints ...dodgy, old person symptoms too.
Woke up with nightmare earlier and this time dreaming the tiles in the bathroom fell off the wall. A tiler I know is coming to look at them.
Also woke up with heart racing again.
Need to get up as I can hear cat yowling. She speaks Siamese but isn’t one.

Night out was nice and babysitter was a great success Smile.

I would very much like to spend a day in PJs watching telly eating takeaway pizza. However, in the real world...

Ta da:-
Had mini lie in so can’t complain
DH and I took DDs out on their bikes
Xmas decs are out of the loft and DH is starting to put the tree together with ‘help’ from DDs

To do:-

Decorate
General tidy up

Not sure what else

Sorry to hear you are poorly Cag; it’s such hard work being ill with a little one Flowers.

zoo, I’m afraid I’m inclined to agree with Bower. . It sounds worth a GP / practice nurse visit.

Hi all! Thanks for links Toostressy and glad to hear you had a good night out.

Sorry to hear that there is still a lot of lurginess among us. The three of us are exactly the same - we either keep reinfecting one another - or this is just a very tenacious virus. Either way we are all plodding along feeling rather wretched as we have no alternative because the bug has lasted so long and things need doing!

Hope everyone feels stronger soon anyway Flowers

Ballet was lovely last night but there was an unfortunate incident at the end when a principal male was taking curtain call and curtain either didn't descend where they thought it would, or it malfunctioned, and he stepped back to avoid, and proceeded to fall backwards over "dead" prince on stage and clutched his ankle and then we didn't see him again. Poor bloke! Hope he's ok!

DD and I felt exhausted this morning but we all made it to mass but not to sausage walk sadly (but there will be another one next month and it was raining hard ).

I am in desperate need of a big jagged pointy stick ATM please as I am flagging horribly! Stupidly underestimated how much sorting there is to do for charity collection and I am only half way through the folding, packing and labelling. Clothes and soft toys are done (huge job). Have washed all the doll's clothes and Dettol wiped dolls pram, carry cot, travel seat etc. Next stop toy restaurant ... then book sorting in to three langs ... then bags and accessories.

Heeeelllppp last bloody thing I feel like doing on a dark rainy December Sunday but needs must! Hmm

Also dreading the bit after they take everything away as although house will be emptier, I will be left with four rooms where it will look as though a hurricane has swept through. Every shelf and drawer will need sorting and reorganising again. Not sure I will be able to get it all done as well prep for Christmas; pisspoor planning and very bad timing on my part arrgggghhhh.

Waves somewhat feebly to all!

Thanks for taking on December Stressy, and many thanks for November SC - sterling work, ladies!

I am just back from a weekend away. Lovely to spend time in the big city again (London), now back home and enthused for December. Let's see how long that lasts again, shall we Grin

Must get cracking with Christmas too, I think the only thing I've done is buy food Blush and open my prosecco advent calendar Wine Because we were away, we are already behind on burning the advent candle too.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 02/12/2018 21:53

Hi Sass, prosecco advent calendar sounds great Grin. You’ve reminded me, food is the thing I have done nothing about yet. No turkey ordered, need to buy wine gifts and have left it too late to book online shopping slots so need to plan when we will brave the shops Hmm. May try to do a big non-perishables shop at the latest delivery slot I can get - will investigate tomorrow.

Thank you both; the organisation (Les Petits Riens) it's all going to are really good; very well organised etc so hopefully it will find its way to people who need it most. I have to say the hardest thing to give away are some beautiful "best" formal wool classic coats that DD used to wear when she was little, in tiny sizes right up to tween size; bought for weddings, funerals etc. They are gorgeous and I've held them back from various decluttering sessions as I couldn't bear to part with them. But as DD pointed out, we have loads of photos with her wearing them so may as well let another child benefit!

DD has been really great this weekend. Helping out with the books and finally sorting through stuff! DH was heroic last night too; fetching us late at night from theatre and running us and dd's friend home. And cooking chicken roast today!
