[santa][santa][santa][santa][santa][santa][santa]
A warm welcome to the December (dare I say Christmas?!) Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

We are a long running thread but always welcome new members; the more the merrier Smile.

The new slimline structure seems to work well so I will stick with that. I will leave some links in this OP and then some quick links in the daily posts. Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn! Especially at this time of year.

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is here.

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

I’m sure I don’t need to tell anyone that it is getting close to Christmas so there are holiday missions here.

December’s habit is usually pampering yourself but has not uploaded yet; I’ll link it tomorrow.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to SC for a lovely November thread. FlowersCakeBrewWine

Great you had a break today Zoo and wow that US parcel sounds fab! No wonder the recipient was delighted! Shows the internet can be a great thing too!

Love the idea of the animation kit Cag. Bet they will have hours of fun with that! (Not the same thing at all but DD once received back shadow theatre and he played with it endlessness ly!) And sounds likea sensible strategy re:DD assessment.

Sorry you are still hard at it Toostressy I did my Christmas fridge clean/freezer too early (believe it or not!) and now they both need doing again (groan) more power to your elbow tonight!

Festive hooe you have a lovely night out tomorrow!

On a very unsociable note, why does everyone want to meet up "before Christmas"? Just why? I'm not going to turn in to a pumpkin between now and NY (I hope). It doesn't make sense to me but maybe I'm just being a grump Xmas Confused

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 19/12/2018 21:48

Good point SC. I have foolishly arranged to meet friends ‘before Christmas’ adding to an already busy time! Why didn’t I arrange ‘just after Christmas’????!

OP posts:
TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 19/12/2018 21:49

And it was my idea!

OP posts:
Slightlycoddled · 19/12/2018 22:23

It's ingrained in us somehow I think Toostressy! Xmas Grin. And seeing friends is important. I just always forget how much time it takes. Hope you have a good time!

Bowerbird5 · 19/12/2018 23:09

👋to toostressy 🖐to everyone else.

👍 I have just been shining my sink.
😁I have water in the kitchen.

Tomorrow the electrician comes and I can wash clothes and use dishwasher. It looks tiny compared to the other one.
They put all the shelves in and knobs on so now I can open the drawers. BF suggested lining paper which I hadn’t thought of so will track some down tomorrow as it is a good idea. Feel rather excited. It looks lovely apart from the rest of it where walls are grotty but we hope to paint on the weekend. I even got excited about the tap. I said to DH can you imagine how excited people must get in African villages when they get water.

Had a fairly productive day sorting school paperwork. As we change over to the new system all old paperwork will go out. I will feel a bit sad about some of the RE as it was tried and tested and somethings were very worthwhile. I will keep the Art and Dt for future reference. I will keep some Nurture Group stuff for reference for a new job or to give back to tutor to hand out to new Nurture Groups. I have games to sort too. I would like to sort for charity shops but think it will have to wait.

Zoo loved hearing about the parcel.
Cags sounds like a good plan. Just get small steps done. I have actually given up just now because too much is happening at work. I have come out in excema again.

Need to sleep as meeting at 8:20 which means I have to leave before 8am🙄

SassitudeandSparkle · 19/12/2018 23:26

zoo that sounds fab!

Well behind here too, we are not feeling as festive as usual as we deal with DD's dental work and DH's various appointments - although DH has had a rather impressive test result (in a good way) and all his our hard work has paid off. Need to keep going in that direction!

Only a couple more days of school here, so looking forward to the time off!

Nice to hear from you I've

Hope everyone has had good days. We've all been grumpy here. The dc are over excited and over emotional. Dh trying to study and it's not going well. I've been trying to clean and organise stuff but still have this cold plus period has arrived so I have cramps so that isn't going well either!! Not achieved what I wanted to but I need to sit down before dinner and work out what I need to do tomorrow. We were meant to be going trampolining but friends all have poorly dc and tbh I could really do with some more time at home!

Ta da
Spare room
Decluttered some bags of junk
Dusted desk
Folded and put laundry away
Cleaned windowsill
Cleaned windows
Cleaned most of the skirting boards
Cleaned door frame

Our bedroom
Dusted bedside table
Decluttered all the memory boxes and put things in one box for the dc, one for us , piled some up for the loft
Cleaned out under the bed box
Cleaned out basket with hair stuff in
Cleaned out and decluttered wardrobe
Sorted old toys and books into bag for church and bag for charity shop
Sorted last few bits ready to wrap
Found birthday card for sil
Put some clothes and bed sheets away

Tidied dd room up quickly
Dh hoovered downstairs
Quick tidy in kitchen while I was sorting dinner
Dinner in oven - beef and mushrooms in golden syrup and ginger which is slow cooking ready to be served with broccoli and rice
Got sausagemeat out of freezer ready for making sausage rolls tomorrow

I know it does look a lot written down but I've had all day so I could have got more done I think. Anyway, tomorrow's to do list:

Make sausage rolls
Make mince pies
Finish skirting boards in spare room
Detailed hoover upstairs
Declutter dressing table
Dust dh bedside table
Skirting boards bedroom
Windows and windowsill bedroom
Windows in dc rooms
Get dh to clear out his side of bed so we can get hoover round there

The list is never-ending! I don't know why I do this every year to myself, I always want the house to be completely cleaned before Christmas and then try and tackle it all in one go, fly lady would not approve!! Xmas BlushXmas Grin

Stilllivinginazoo · 20/12/2018 17:41

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 20/12/2018 19:22

Wow zoo and foxes, you have been busy! Love that the wtf aisles saved you zoo. I think this time of year can be especially hard with sad memories.

foxes, it sounds as if you have done loads so don’t forget to try to pamper yourself too!

Massive good luck with essay Ive BrewBrewBrew.

Woohoo for kitchen water Bower Xmas Smile. Also great news that your DH’s test results have improved Sass.

Had a good day at work which actually involved some decluttering. Sadly can’t say I have done any decluttering at home. Cleaned fridge out yesterday but didn’t manage freezer so will have to do tonight. Also have to make awkward meal involving using up the leeks and potatoes from the fridge yesterday.

Great lists!

Electrician has been today. I now have power, dishwasher on trial run, lights under cupboards and in two glass fronted cupboards. Haven’t tried washing machine yet.
Need to start painting tomorrow.

So tired will be in bed at 9pm at the latest.

Slightlycoddled · 20/12/2018 20:43

Whey hey to a functioning kitchen Bower so glad it has finally come together for you!

Vichyssoise is the solution Toostressy but probably comes too late!

Zoo and Foxes both of your lists are EPIC! Halo Halo

Happy baking tomorrow Foxes

Sorry about your dad zoo Sad

Hope essay going ok I've [Proffers strong coffee.]

Very well done to your dh Sass and hope your dd's dental treatment isn't causing too much discomfort.

[Hic] Mes belles copines, je suis un peu pickled! [Hic] Had spontaneous supper with friends I bumped in to by accident in street. Ate among barking dogs and [new] piles of cardboard boxes and lots of sparkling Italian white. Quite the best sort of entertaining! [Hic]

Rest of day= 3 hrs "work" work; never usually work on Thurs so saw lots of colleagues I don't normally see which was nice. Wrote cards. Did two loads of washing. Sausage training. Dog walks. 2 x 15 min boudoir. Bakery. Quick nip to supermarket. Wrapped hairdresser present. Hair cut.

Lovely energetic cleaner and her dh are coming tomorrow at 8am to finally resolve box gate and do huge clean across five floors. Must wrap all her presents tonight. I will be attending school mass at 9am (complete with air guitar playing monk), then dd gets her report, then we meet with teachers, then it's end of term. Whoo hoo!

So behind with everything it's just madness really but seen through the prism of wine glass it doesn't seem quite so bad. Xmas Grin

Bisous a tous x

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 20/12/2018 21:45

Xmas Grin at prism of a wine glass. Too late yes, but will know for next time, thanks SC. I am a terrible cook and hate it so much.

Sounds like a good day SC
Hope DH is still ticking over with out any more issues.whoo to cleaners visit tomorrow!

Bower yay.id be capering like a simpleton after what you've been thru last few weeks.bet running water and lights feel luxurious!!

Judge by SC personals I've missed a few posts, must go back and check...

Stilllivinginazoo · 20/12/2018 21:51

Somehow I missed your post sass about DH good test results(great news) and DD dental work.are you in braces territory?dd2 has to have tightening top set on 31st and adding bottom ones.she has a twisted "fang" that hasn't come down properly as it erupted prior to baby tooth falling out and try grow over it,and it's agony for 3-4 days after tightening as it pulls it straighter and downwardsSad.she's bit scared bottom ones going to be pretty sure too so I am making assumption we be seeing in new year as pain meds don't tough it initially.and I intend stock up on soup making ingredients, potatoes(buttery mash is such a comfort food)and jelly/ice cream!!

Cagliostro · 20/12/2018 23:59

Not caught up fully yet but zoo that is so lovely about the present in Tennessee. So sweet!

Wrapped lots of presents today.

DD is pretty much officially no longer believing in Santa 😱😰 but the funny side of it is, I’m going to put a pomegranate in her stocking instead of an orange :o

HillsBesideTheSea · 21/12/2018 00:19

Going to be honest cag the significance of the pomegranate is baffling me.

The patient has been a very bad patient and we are both now pissed off, crossed and fed up with the situation. It has been pointed out firmly that it is easier to be sympathetic to people who accept being a patient and very difficult to be sympathetic to mardy arses.

ta da
not a lot other than run around hopelessly doing errands for the patient for very little thanks and lots of grumps
