[santa][santa][santa][santa][santa][santa][santa]
A warm welcome to the December (dare I say Christmas?!) Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

We are a long running thread but always welcome new members; the more the merrier Smile.

The new slimline structure seems to work well so I will stick with that. I will leave some links in this OP and then some quick links in the daily posts. Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn! Especially at this time of year.

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is here.

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

I’m sure I don’t need to tell anyone that it is getting close to Christmas so there are holiday missions here.

December’s habit is usually pampering yourself but has not uploaded yet; I’ll link it tomorrow.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to SC for a lovely November thread. FlowersCakeBrewWine

So we have two now. And. Aprize in the raffle and we do not know what it is🙄

Enjoy your time away with dd1 Zoo!

Yay to hampers Bower!

Sorry Meet but Xmas Grin Xmas Grin Xmas Grin pmsl @ "I have ot bee driking hoest" Xmas GrinXmas GrinXmas Grin.
Congrats on "everything having a place" I wish that were the case here!

Been for a dog walk now trying to summon up the energy to tackle everything that needs to be done before Friday's "big clean". Tree arriving Sat. In a bit of gynae pain. Not sure I have the energy to do it all.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 19/12/2018 09:55

At work, will be on later.

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 19/12/2018 10:06

Ug. No energy. Loads to do and too anxious for any of it.

MeetOnTheSIedge · 19/12/2018 11:02

Yay for Karma Zoo!

On my phone today SC, the computer keyboard is even worse now, I have just managed to order a last minute present by using a combination of search history, saved password and luckily having a postcode that doesn't have any Ns in it. Might have to go and buy a replacement keyboard today (luckily desktop not laptop).

Cag Flowers, can you make a little list, then pick one thing you think you can manage? Such a horrible feeling.

MeetOnTheSIedge · 19/12/2018 11:03

In fact, have a Brew everyone. And maybe a mince pie. This time of year is hard work.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 19/12/2018 18:13

Eeek at choc free in February zoo! Xmas Grin at umbrella!

Glad DH less grumpy Bower.

Glad nativity went well foxes

I had to chuckle at your posts with missing letters Meet Xmas Grin. Thanks for the mince pie Xmas Smile. I agree, a little list sound a good plan Cag.

Waves to SC, Forestier amd everyone else.

Slightlycoddled · 19/12/2018 18:24

Wise words from Meet, hope you are ok Cag ; it's a very tough time of year x

Meet that was some achievement ordering that present!! (As if present buying wasn't hard enough to fathom!).

Xmas Smile at umbrella Zoo!

Waves to Festive Honu Bower Hills Sass Foxes I've Toostressy and everyone else I've missed.

A bit of a fail day today. Felt tired/ill and stressed and dare I say it a bit dizzy like before (pray that is not coming back) and needed to rest up a bit. Felt guilty doing so though so it wasn't very relaxing.

However, a couple of wins:
-rang gynae/surgeon no.1 to tell her about surgeon no. 2's no show Mon night and how difficult it was to get hold of him and within an hour I had a call from him arranging new appt in NY! Yay!
-summoned energy and made phone call with close family member who I hadn't spoken to since summer. Went ok.
-made Christmas hair appt (got last free slot phew)
-took mobile phone to shop to unblock it (forgot code again)
-collected six parcels from post office which they insisted they had tried to deliver without success but no card, and I was in virtually all of time with "puppy"
-two loads washing hung up
-sausage training with furry2
-dog walk

About to look in freezer in desperation for something to "ping" for supper.

One year I aspire to be organised enough to sit in calm, organised surroundings, listening to Christmas choral music, enjoying and taking my time writing cards and wrapping presents and packing parcels and for it not to be this last minute mad scramble. Failed again this year!!

I only work 16-18 hrs approx a week and have one teen. God knows how those of you who work and/or have multiple DC and/or younger DC cope. Hats off to all you!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 19/12/2018 18:44

Xmas Grin I have the same hope every year too SC. Maybe next year...

OP posts:
FestiveForestieraNoel · 19/12/2018 19:58

Every year I say I'll start Christmas planning earlier...

Going out for Christmas drinks at neighbour/colleague's house tomorrow.

Zone cleaning? what zone cleaning? Neighbour Christmas cards done. Need to get turkey etc.

Would like a nice walk to de-stress.

Cagliostro · 19/12/2018 20:35

I did manage one thing, I finally made a decision about the Caglets’ main present. Stop motion animation camera kit with green screen :)

Also took the Caglets to tae kwon do. Yay.

Pizza Hut on order. 😳

DH and I made a decision last night. Well, I made it and told him and he agreed :o our goal next year is to save up for a private educational psychologist assessment for DD. Eeeeek. But it needs doing and NHS isn’t gonna happen.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 19/12/2018 20:41

Totally with you on the lack of zone work Forestier. At the moment I think the best thing I can do for decluttering / organising is deal with the Christmas stuff anyway.

On the plus side side DH did home bleugh today which is awesome.

My goal tonight (ha ha) is to get on top of laundry and also to clean / clear out fridge and freezer. I’m at work tomorrow and the food shop is coming tomorrow evening. DH will possibly be at work so it will be much less painful if I have a cleared fridge and freezer for it.

Night out was nice last night thanks. Was surprisingly very sedate - I think people were simply too busy for it to be anything but!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 19/12/2018 20:42

Another one who says next Xmas it'll be.....
Only year ever organised was year had D's on 18th december!

Well today was better, had fab time with dd1.shes finished her shopping and at her dad's Xmas day to eat so she's calm ,relaxed and full of festive cheer.after last few days it's really perked me up a bit that I can get thru this!!went into town and picked up a few more bits

Dd2 "talks" on Instagram to a girl in u.s who shares her love certain tv shows.they video call each other sometimes and have become good friends over last 8 months.she asked if might be allowed send her some English sweets/chocolate for Xmas so she bought some and we sent it almost two weeks back, along with a card posted same time but not in package
Card arrived yesterday(Tennessee had bad snow last week and this girl lives rurally and was cut off by a foot snow for few days)package today
Ive just watched a very excited 14 year old girl painstakingly open package without tearing up.k shipping stamp so they can keep it (as never had anything from outside America ) on video call and then her face opening and trying the contents was pure joy.we sent jelly babies (don't have blackcurrant flavour sweets there so diced at a black one),mars, malteasers, bounty, strawberry laces and a sherbert dip along with a bag cheese and onion crisps as they only have sour cream n chive and little jar of marmite.she was calling for various family members to come try things and even her mum was excited trying the laces (and loved the flavour).they are going to video call again tomorrow and make marmite toast together as she's not sure how to handle itGrin
I feel quite lifted watching our gift make a whole family smile and laugh.proves it is the giving that's important

Slightlycoddled · 19/12/2018 20:46
