[santa][santa][santa][santa][santa][santa][santa]
A warm welcome to the December (dare I say Christmas?!) Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

We are a long running thread but always welcome new members; the more the merrier Smile.

The new slimline structure seems to work well so I will stick with that. I will leave some links in this OP and then some quick links in the daily posts. Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn! Especially at this time of year.

A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is here.

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

I’m sure I don’t need to tell anyone that it is getting close to Christmas so there are holiday missions here.

December’s habit is usually pampering yourself but has not uploaded yet; I’ll link it tomorrow.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to SC for a lovely November thread. FlowersCakeBrewWine

Thanks all, she seems ok this morning, still a bit disappointed which is fair enough. Luckily lots of Christmas things still going on to keep her busy.

SC, I missed the fact that your surgeon wasn’t there yesterday- how frustrating Flowers.

DH is off today as we have a school thing for DD2 later today (has anyone seen the Hurrah for Gin list where she contemplates just moving into school at the end of the Christmas term?!). So he has taken the girls to school, need to get on with dishwasher etc now.

Well the doctor told me to not go into work, but as there is no diagnosis no idea what to put on the self cert. So going into work anyway. It is just easier. Although I am going to be late because I am supposed to have left and just realised. However, there appears to be some sort of rule about wearing clothes in public? Need to comply with that I suspect.

Slightlycoddled · 18/12/2018 09:11

Thanks Toostressy!
Hills go for it, dare to bare, give everyone a good jolt! Xmas Grin

Stilllivinginazoo · 18/12/2018 09:16

Fuck fuck fuckitty fuck

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 18/12/2018 11:30

Oh that sounds very similar Meet, such a shame for them to miss out on lines but equally it can’t be helped that kids will make mistakes.

zoo, Hills and anyone else who needs them FlowersBrew.

Nooooo, don’t feel the need to summarise your posts SC (although the summary was accurate!). I love the chat on here, although maybe love it a bit less when I am thread leading and have to keep up with it all Grin.

Happy birthday to your DS zoo.

Ta da:-
Went shopping with DH - not the best use of time at all but got a sports top in the sale for him to give me and have emailed many several repeated hints about a voucher towards a spa day or some pampering.

Made list for DH of what is going on tomorrow

Made to do list for today which is too long to type out on here!

To do:-
All the Christmas things
DD2 school event
Eat lunch which just be out of the fridge or freezer because did big online food shop which comes Thursday. Also made list of perishables to get nearer the time as that was the latest slot I could get as I left it too late to book. Was up late last night to do it but was worth it.

Also I am going out tonight. Working tomorrow so MUST be sensible.

Catch everyone later. I’ll do links a bit early if nobody minds tonight. I know I do them fairly early anyway but find the best time to do them is while in a darkened room putting the girls to bed Xmas Grin.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 18/12/2018 11:31

zoo, do you have Amazon prime? Or can you get some smellies from a supermarket / local store if you can get to one?

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 18/12/2018 11:53

I still have things to order myself. I don’t have prime.

Stilllivinginazoo · 18/12/2018 13:51

Me neither cag
Survived food shop with dp just as he's tired from overtime, antsy and prone bitchy remarks and snapping...it will only get worse as working wed 3pm to Thurs 3pm.friday 3pm to Sunday 10am.back for 3pm sleep over, repeat monday.hes going to be HORRENDOUS.
dd2 has already said he's going to blow Xmas morning isn't he try set up my laptop
All I can say to that is have low expectations and it won't be worse than that and we can do what we always do better on d he's retreated to bed or three all toys out pram and stormed off home.....

HillsBesideTheSea · 18/12/2018 17:27

I have stuff to order too. Need to get it sorted tonight.

Am now officially off work. Work are happy because I can take holiday days that I was going to lose instead of sick days which means that I am don't have to go through the stupid return to work post sick day nonsense. I am happy as I have time off that is needed. And new holiday rota starts 1st jan so really it is winning for everyone.

My plan - to spend the next few days as much as possible in bed knitting Christmas presents that still haven't even been cast on. and 4ply knit socks take a while Blush

Stilllivinginazoo · 18/12/2018 17:42

Sounds like a good plan hills

I am ready to commit murder"d"p in foul mood and opt to spend day hogging D's to point I saw him eat lunch then they went play minecraft and are watch film after he's had some dinner upstairs too.llus tom he's promised take him Smyth's toyshop after school(there til 11) just the two of them😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😒😒

HillsBesideTheSea · 18/12/2018 17:46

Zoo it might be mean to remind you but you were hoping for some time without having to look after or deal with panic attacks. Perhaps it is a blessing in disguise and the break from the panic attacks that you needed?

Stilllivinginazoo · 18/12/2018 18:18

I guess so hills it just rattles me I do all hard bits and he sweeps and takes over the "fun" bits....

Sandwich tea(birthday person picks what they want) with veg sticks and fruit.just go light candles on cake now

HillsBesideTheSea · 18/12/2018 18:20

Totally understandable zoo and I know I feel that way about the fun/work division with ds and his dad. Birthdays are extra hard too. Totally get and understand it.

Slightlycoddled · 18/12/2018 18:50

Grin Toostressy. Have a lovely evening out!

Zoo Ah yes, the old "fun Daddy" routine! None of the hard work or discipline but all of the enjoyable stuff! Something not completely unheard of in this household either. Stuff 'em I say and go and enjoy some cake and a bit of peace and quiet. Hope ds has had lovely day x

Visitors have left (returning in less than a week ) and I have just had unseemly row with DH (not my finest moment) but I feel really upset that he didn't stick up for me when snidey comments were made. Feel quite hurt about it but it's been going on a while wrt his family tbh. I know he's been ill but honestly feel annoyed having run around everyone while trying to do ALL Christmas prep + new furry while feeling fairly rough.

Going to serve passive aggressive supper now Grin and then retire to my boudoir alone where I shall be remaining until morning!

Hills good you got work sorted! Enjoy the knitting!

Slightlycoddled · 18/12/2018 18:52

bubbly bits?!!

meant nibbly bits!!

Stilllivinginazoo · 18/12/2018 19:11

Bubbly bits/bubbly bits..few drinks later who cares what they're called as long as crunchy and bit salty!!(says she who is teetotal)

DS had panic attack and didn't want any cake but have taken pics of blow out candles and with his cards.messengered a few of them to dp sister (DP takes pics but are on discs at his I've never seen again☹️hence taking my own these days)

Flat as Fuck and fed up

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 18/12/2018 19:18

zoo Gin.

Thanks SC. Glad you are off now Hills. I would think ordering now still should be ok without prime hopefully.

Happy birthday to your ds zoo and sorry you're feeling so fed up Flowers

Hills glad you got time off work good luck with the knitting

Sc don't blame you for getting cross tbh you must have the patience of a saint! I hope your dh if feeling some remorse at least.

Dd nativity was lovely, she looked so cute and remembered her line. There was almost a bit of a fight amongst the angels though as another girl tried to sit in my dds spot and she wasn't best pleased, then she cried at the end of the afternoon performance, think she was just exhausted by that point! Anyway she has been fine since she got home so all good Smile

I've not achieved nearly as much as I wanted to today. My throat suddenly started hurting mid afternoon and then I just felt worse and worse. Really hope it goes as quick as it came on.

Ta da
Nativity
Dh picked up few bits from shop
Sorted out meal plan for rest of week / shopping list for tomorrow
Washed ds teddy
Washing on (but I've failed to take it out again oops)
Folded and put loads of laundry away
Cooked dinner - potato and pea curry and naan bread (good one for when you've got a cold lots of spices and lemon juice and stuff!)
Tidied kitchen and living room after dinner

I'm more worried I'm going to give this cold to everyone else here just in time for Christmas and dh doesn't do well with a cold! I need him to cook the Xmas dinner! Xmas Grin

Stilllivinginazoo · 18/12/2018 19:50

Aaaaand another fucking row.this time over dinner...
Sulking I don't feel up to planned dinner(which he wanted me to cook at 930 after watch film with D's)
I suggest crackers n cheese with fruit n veg.sulked I said no to cereal as he eats huge amounts and there won't be enough for the kids til I shop again as only bought one box today.took it up to date room and got snapped at I not eating it I here.will come down after
Well you never said that...
As I left room I heard him tell lil zoo to shut the door

I cracked and came down and cried my eyes out.ive had just about as much as I can take for one day
Going to fix dd2 a cheese sandwich and curl up to sleep on sofa

Slightlycoddled · 18/12/2018 20:49

Oh Zoo that's really awful and NO way to treat your other half. Sad. Sorry, but how on earth does he think that his behaviour is acceptable? Sorry you feel so upset Flowers.

Thanks Foxes. DH has apologised but only in a cursory fashion and because he wants a quiet evening I think! Hope are not going down with bad/cold flu; wrap up warm and take it steady. Well done to your dd and glad nativity play went well overall (but Xmas Grin re: disputing angels Xmas Grin. You don't happen to have curry recipe by any chance do you (no worries though if a faff)? It sounds delicious and just right for this weather.

foxessocks · 18/12/2018 21:17

sc well at least he apologised I suppose but should be heartfelt! Yes I do have the recipe it's this one www.mediterrasian.com/delicious_recipes_lentil_curry.htm I didn't stick to the exact measurements (because I never do!) but it was really really tasty! I switched coriander for mint as well because we don't like coriander.

Zoo Angry on your behalf!

Slightlycoddled · 18/12/2018 21:25

Still quite cross tbh. (Quietly seethes.)

Thank you so much for recipe Foxes , looks fab, and a great alternative to rich meat dishes during Christmas season! Very relieved you didn't have to write out all those ingreds btw Xmas Smile

FestiveForestieraNoel · 18/12/2018 21:39

Sorry to hear this zoo Flowers
