June's arrived too soon! Catch up with the Fledgling Fly thread ... .

If you are strugging with C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) and S.T.U.F.F. (something that undermines family fun) then this is the thread where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of chat, support and wine and cake along the way.

This is where, from the first of the month (seriously, HOW is it June already?!), we follow – loosely – the rules of FlyLady [see website here ]. (Pls ignore Flylady's barftastic language, and we suggest NOT signing up to her emails as there are rather a lot of them. All the info you need will be posted here on a daily basis.)

Helpful info on getting started here.

We adopt a three-pronged approach:

-start or repeat baby steps

  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone or area (yes, just 15 mins focused work a day makes a difference!)

and/or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

[And if you are really enthusiastic and have finished decluttering - you can go on to detailed deep cleaning in each zone.]

The launch pad is the place from which you can reach most other useful areas of the site: here.

NB
This is a very long-running thread so we may appear cliquey but we really aren't! All newcomers, long-termers, lurkers and intermittent returnees not only welcome to join in but positively encouraged to do so!

Another NB
Start where you are at!. There is no need to worry about being perfect – perfectionism = paralysis! There is no such thing as ‘falling behind’ with FlyLady, if you miss anything, just move on and continue as normal the next day.

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Happy Flying one and all!

Thank you all for the warm welcome.

Good luck to those with the new job and house, it's stressful but mostly worth it.

I wish I knew what it was about warm weather that makes some people absolute arseholes. I have a neighbor whose adult child becomes exceptionally worse when it's warm, more so on weekends. Arguments which can last for a good 6 hours in the street involving him, his father, his girlfriend who drives in to argue, her family, who also drive in to argue, then his sisters get involved...it's a mess. If anyone dares tell them to keep it down, they all turn on that one person. It's horrible.

It is one of many reasons why I don't like the summer months. Much prefer winter where everybody tends to keep to themselves.

It is also on a growing list of reasons to move house as soon as I can.

Anyway, my list for today:

Cut hedges
Cut grass
Tip run
Make beds
Clean the big kitchen cupboard
Dentist
Make dinner
Empty all bins for tomorrow's collection.

That will do for now I think. I do have a bigger list so will add as Ta-Dahs if I complete them.

I hope everybody has a productive, stress free day.

HillsBesideTheSea · 04/06/2018 07:01

Urgh. Mornings don't improve do they?
Alarm went off at 5:30am this morning. The snooze function got overused Blush thankfully it only went off so early because I wanted to do things before the heat of the day kicked in becuase I am only just awake. Now to through enough clothes on to go out to the car and get that sorted. Was just too darn hot yesterday.

SC to be fair I wasn't sure it was nettie until you thought it was someone else. In my brain it was either you or nettie who had had the dream. So my memory isn't 100%. Also are we coming up 10yrs? Have I even been on mn 10yrs? I shall have to investigate this later.

HillsBesideTheSea · 04/06/2018 07:03

sorry spelling and grammar and words in that is just appalling. (and probably this too) heading for coffee.

Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 04/06/2018 07:04

It is early. Spelling is irrelevant. Brew

Giggage · 04/06/2018 07:13

Agreed. I'm not one to point out spag as mine is appalling most days, especially online. It is far too early to worry about something so minor, especially if you have had a poor night sleep.

Scoopofchaff · 04/06/2018 07:26

Lord Hills do you really think it could be 10 yrs? Shock

You'd think my house would be decluttered by now Blush

Ds is being a real handful today and it's only 9.30! Dd dropped off at nursery so that's something at least. I'm going to do a power half hour before a tea break. Just need to distract ds away from the cake in the kitchen which he has spotted.

BlueEyeshadow · 04/06/2018 09:53

Oh wow, hadn't realised that the name Fat Fairy pre-dated the pic on the website! How prophetic funny! Grin

Scoopofchaff · 04/06/2018 10:10

Indeed Blue Grin

Hello to Firehousedog!

All these long lists put me to shame! Well done everyone!

I am just getting started and I am an hour ahead Blush but do have visitors so can't avoid the chit/chat and slow queue for bathroom ... .

HillsBesideTheSea · 04/06/2018 10:21

Hmm there used to be a joined in 20XX box on your account details but they seem to have removed it. Hmm I am guesstimating that the thread has actually been running 9 years when I actually think about it not 10. But this is by non scientific methods like when I joined vs when ds went to school so is not 100% accurate. But 2009 does sound about right. I feel really old again. Really really old.

HillsBesideTheSea · 04/06/2018 10:26

The image of the fairy and the greater emphasis on Body decluttering as well as life decluttering occurred in the same up date of the website. It was also not long after a publicity campaign by flylady to share links not detail due to copyright so it is possible but highly unlikely that she encountered the tale of the dream. Must say that some of the features like the launch pad that was brought in did improve ease of usage. But honestly I think that the fairy image for fly lady is far more likely to be linked with the concept of a fairy godmother who helps to make life easier with wise words and wisedom.

yes I now need to lie down, yes I have drunk too much coffee, yes possibly affected by bleach fumes (although not started using the bleach yet so not sure that excuse holds up)

Stilllivinginazoo · 04/06/2018 10:57
