June's arrived too soon! Catch up with the Fledgling Fly thread ... .

If you are strugging with C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) and S.T.U.F.F. (something that undermines family fun) then this is the thread where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of chat, support and wine and cake along the way.

This is where, from the first of the month (seriously, HOW is it June already?!), we follow – loosely – the rules of FlyLady [see website here ]. (Pls ignore Flylady's barftastic language, and we suggest NOT signing up to her emails as there are rather a lot of them. All the info you need will be posted here on a daily basis.)

Helpful info on getting started here.

We adopt a three-pronged approach:

-start or repeat baby steps

  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone or area (yes, just 15 mins focused work a day makes a difference!)

and/or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

[And if you are really enthusiastic and have finished decluttering - you can go on to detailed deep cleaning in each zone.]

The launch pad is the place from which you can reach most other useful areas of the site: here.

NB
This is a very long-running thread so we may appear cliquey but we really aren't! All newcomers, long-termers, lurkers and intermittent returnees not only welcome to join in but positively encouraged to do so!

Another NB
Start where you are at!. There is no need to worry about being perfect – perfectionism = paralysis! There is no such thing as ‘falling behind’ with FlyLady, if you miss anything, just move on and continue as normal the next day.

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Happy Flying one and all!

Cagliostro · 18/06/2018 23:12

✅Tesco order
✅realistic meal plan

Errrr that’s it. Damn.

Scoopofchaff · 19/06/2018 06:36

Baby step no. 19 for Tues 19th is here. An ignorable one about reading testimonials.

We are in Zone 4 this week: The Master Bedroom, Bath, Closet (June 17-23). Spend 15 mins a day decluttering this area (and/or do a mission!).

If you are at the stage where you have finished decluttering Zone 4, here is the detailed cleaning list for the boudoir etc.

Tuesday's mission is: here. Attack the clothes pile(s).

Tuesday's daily focus is planning.

The habit for June is: keeping hydrated by drinking lots of water.

A summary of the above (which should update itself daily) can be found in the flight plan here.

Small steps everyone! Just 5 mins is better than nothing!

Scoopofchaff · 19/06/2018 07:02

A warm welcome to Masktasker!

Hope you can get some help today Zoo!

Oh no, Toostressy, that's awful about your car. So glad you are all ok though.

Glad to hear Cagletini survived her first tumble off the bed Cag! Happily they bounce at her age Grin! DD did the very same thing when I was standing right there too! Well done re: the clothes sorting!

Hope your dh could fix the dw Foxes!

Hope the car insurance has come through overnight Hills!

Waves to MsForestier¨, I'vegotfamily, Honu, Beepbeep321, Giggage, Honkywonkwoman, Bowerbird, Goth, Blueyeshadow, Whoknows, Firehousedog, Catherinethetiny, Carbonella, Cordelia, Shannara, Pyjamasforever Mollywobbles Tidyhomewannabe and anyone else I have inadvertently excluded, including a long-term Flyer whose nn combines a lovely part of the countryside with cockney rhyming slang (you know who you are and you are much missed)! Grin

Last exam for dd today! She looks utterly exhausted!

A huge clear up operation needed in the kitchen and sitting room this morning room as we had people over from office and elsewhere to watch first - Belgium v Panama - followed by England v Tunisia. I decided in my madness to provide traditional Eng hot roast pork rolls with stuffing and all the trimmings which involved schlepping across town to Anglo-Irish butcher ("native" butchers here, although fab, don't do crackling, as they cut around the muscle and exclude the fat ifyswim!). Lots of beer and wine was drunk. The scene is one of devastation!

Also, it did amaze me too how dh was able to get home on time for footie at 5pm for the first time I would say in about two decades Hmm Grin.

HillsBesideTheSea · 19/06/2018 07:10

Bastarding hell. Apparently I don't have car insurance.
ds was up to 2am
shit crap bollocks.

foxessocks · 19/06/2018 07:24

sc well now you know he can get home early you can mention that to him again another time! Smile

Terrible night's sleep yet again . Ds up at 3 and didn't settle for what felt like hours then just as he did go back to sleep dd got up and called out for help getting a drink and going for a wee and the cat started meowing at the back door Hmm finally got back to sleep and just now woken up, hoping to at least drink my coffee before anyone else wakes up. Zzzzzz

Scoopofchaff · 19/06/2018 07:35

Oh that sounds crap Hills; after all your efforts too ... . My nephew has had a nightmare with his car insurance recently too. Some of these companies hold one to ransom I think.

Your night sounds awful too Foxes; try and take it steady today if you possibly can.

Just done dd's hair for her in a French braid Grin. She has her last exam today in about an hour or so (English oral/aural (sp?) - would not have been entertaining last night if any other subject btw!!) so not exactly challenging for her; but her Fr-speaking friends have been texting a lot for advice! Grin The boys in her class have to wear suits and the girls have to wear a special version of uniform so I have been helping her look spick and span and plaiting hair for the first time in about 5 yrs! In her old mammy's eyes she looks very dapper indeed [dabs corner of eye with hanky].

OP posts:
Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 19/06/2018 07:46

Wish someone would french braid my hair for me! I cannot do it no matter how many youtube videos i watch!

Scoopofchaff · 19/06/2018 07:52

I must admit I am a bit cack-handed at it I've - and dd's hair is not easy as v straight and resists plaiting rather - but I've had lots of practice on horses Grin

OP posts:
Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 19/06/2018 07:56

Obviously i just need to get a horse then!

Can kind of do my dds but not very neat although she is incapable of standing still which doesnt help

Scoopofchaff · 19/06/2018 08:14

Grin I've

Right!

Ta da:

Ta da

Wash on
Dryer on
Dc all up fed dressed
2 packed lunches done
Listened to dd read

Sorry to hear of insurance troubles hills!

HillsBesideTheSea · 19/06/2018 08:28

Spoken to a person (I like speaking to people, they are much more helpful than computers). Apparently insurance correctly paid for, all ok but they had technical issues. Thank. Fuck.

Ds does not want to get up. Not surprised. I don't want to get up either. But have to. Tally ho.

Cagliostro · 19/06/2018 08:49

I can’t do French braids at all. I can do a regular plait but that’s it. DD’s friend does her hair for special occasions if she’s around :o I never get to do DD’s hair anymore though other than a bun for ballet and tap. Oh well at least Cagletini will grow hair at some point for me to play with :o she’s still a bit of a baldy!

DH has sports club today and we’ve got tap later. He’s scanning the shopping ATM and we must put laundry away. I might start washing all the girl baby clothes.

foxessocks · 19/06/2018 08:56

I am absolutely useless at all types of hair styles , my dd looks constantly scruffy even when I do a pony tail she comes home without it in and looking like she has been dragged through a hedge backwards. I'd love to be able to do plaits and stuff!

Sc so the exam stress is over nearly! That's great news. Although I guess waiting for results is stressful too.

Ta da
Breakfast for us all
15 minute workout

To do
Daily routine
Check meal plan
Check calendar
15 minutes decluttering bedroom
Clothes piles

Scoopofchaff · 19/06/2018 09:20

Oooh I love baldy babies though Cag! Grin

Thank you Foxes - dh and I are going to meet dd or lunch in an hour or so to celebrate getting to the end - as it really is a bit of an ordeal! As for the rest of this week and over the w/e, we will be providing lots of distraction activities for dd and her friends until the results come through! So awful the way they do it; you basically sit at home and wait for a phone call to see if you have failed and have to re-sit the entire year (only 50% get through so we are realistic in our expectations esp with dd not being from family who speaks fr at home). If you don't get a call then you have passed. [Basically entails sitting by the phone for 48hrs biting one's knuckles and feeling sick!] Confused.

As dd is only due in school for the odd hour on two or so mornings now until end of month (rather selfishly) I am in this moment just celebrating the fact that the days of six am starts, uniform and gym kit washing, packed-lunch-making, and hwk and exam angst is over for another year! Whey hey! (Although I already know we are going to have to do extra maths tuition in the holidays whatever the exam outcomes are Confused.)

Should end this post by throwing off shoes and running barefoot through a field or something. Sadly, I am in the office data-inputting ... Grin

Zoo are you OK? How did the school run go this morning?

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 19/06/2018 10:09

Yes well done foxes ⭐️ I’m not managing well at all with eating healthily or exercising TBH. Or indeed any form of self care whatsoever 😣

House is an absolute state. Going to put some baby clothes on to wash. At least with this stuff there’s no need to separate by colour (we got given a LOT of pink!) so I can just wash one size at a time and pack it straight up.

Stilllivinginazoo · 19/06/2018 10:43

DP helped out.zoolets are clinging like vultures at a corpse so trying be as normal as poss so I went along(slower than usual)
Had 2panic attacks in the night.woke up beating normally.now it's fuck all over place again.bugger bugger bugger😒😒😒😒

Kids got fed and watered(some assistance from dp)
Today's tasks-
Food shop
Housework
I am told DP will do these under supervision so I just have to shuffle round shops pointing and tell him what to do here,so there should be a tada laterGrin

I can do plaits of all kinds, except where cross under not over then I'm all fingers and thumbs and it's not neat.i can plait my own hair but mostly it's run thru with fingers and scrap back in a bun so I can see what I'm doing...

Cagliostro · 19/06/2018 10:50

Hugs zoo

ta da so far
✅put clothes back in dryer as still a bit damp
✅put newborn baby clothes in washer
✅packed a couple of home ed things away with the textbooks as we won’t need them till we move
✅bit of home ed
✅put old trofast buckets outside (might see if charity shop wants them to organise stock, but for now they are getting right in the way)
✅emptied a box into a bag (BRC) so I can pack away some more board games shortly

Cagletini keeps waving. Cute 😍

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 19/06/2018 11:51

Hello all.

zoo Flowers. Can you phone the GP again?

Well done to your DD for finishing exams SC.

Glad car insurance potentially sorted Hills. It can be such a hassle to organise and take ages. I had a rant on another thread where people said renewing and shopping around for other options it was a 2 min job Angry!!!!!

Ta da:-
Laundry under control
Admin relating to car bump. Other party seems to have admitted fault so will be able to get it repaired and courtesy car etc. Accidents happen of course but is hassle I could really do without.
Some work prep done for something I am doing later in the week.
Bought stuff for DD1 activity later in week
Homework with DDs this morning as yesterday evening nothing was accomplished as I spent the evening on the phone sorting the car out.

To do:-
More of all of the above
Prep tea for DH and me later
Play date after school, must remember to stop by Aldi and get cake.

I’m not too bad at plaiting actually. My own hair is very straight so needs layers to give it any shape it if is long so doesn’t really suit plaits. Both DDs like them though so I often do them as it is a fairly easy parenting win which makes me feel better about parenting losses Grin.

Must get some lunch.

HonkyWonkWoman · 19/06/2018 12:13

Rushed round like a mad thing this morning as had to get to hairdressers by 11 and going straight to Sports Day for Dgs9 who is 10 today. Bless him!
