If you are strugging with C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) and S.T.U.F.F. (something that undermines family fun) then this is the thread where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of chat, support and wine and cake along the way.

This is where, from the first of the month (seriously, HOW is it June already?!), we follow – loosely – the rules of FlyLady [see website here ]. (Pls ignore Flylady's barftastic language, and we suggest NOT signing up to her emails as there are rather a lot of them. All the info you need will be posted here on a daily basis.)

Helpful info on getting started here.

We adopt a three-pronged approach:

-start or repeat baby steps

  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone or area (yes, just 15 mins focused work a day makes a difference!)

and/or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

[And if you are really enthusiastic and have finished decluttering - you can go on to detailed deep cleaning in each zone.]

The launch pad is the place from which you can reach most other useful areas of the site: here.

NB
This is a very long-running thread so we may appear cliquey but we really aren't! All newcomers, long-termers, lurkers and intermittent returnees not only welcome to join in but positively encouraged to do so!

Another NB
Start where you are at!. There is no need to worry about being perfect – perfectionism = paralysis! There is no such thing as ‘falling behind’ with FlyLady, if you miss anything, just move on and continue as normal the next day.

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Happy Flying one and all!

Wash on x2
Dryer on
Washing on line
Dry washing sorted
Last weeks food bill

So i have just work out i spent £108 on shopping last week. Would like to beat it this week! Under £100 i think!

Cagliostro · 18/06/2018 12:25

Well I have finally sorted the neutral baby clothes into labelled bags. 8 bags (including one that is muslins/bibs etc). Blimey.

It would be good if I can sort the girl stuff, so we could take it down to the coast on Sunday as we are seeing DN then.

Chucked a few bits in the recycling (old home ed stuff that we aren’t going to complete/use again). Clean laundry away, and more washing on thanks to DH.

We have now got a completely empty trofast unit in our room. I was thinking of just turning that into a giant BRC but then we could get the keys really soon so I think we just need to keep ploughing through throwing stuff out.

I also put aside a few random home ed bits that will form our work for the day (maths, non verbal reasoning, map reading)

Deal with the fact that the change of address that a former member has put in several times and is getting annoyed at the organisation - still hasn't been noted! suggest that words such as data breach and GDPR are mentioned when making a complaint about it this time
Raid teenager's room for laundry
Put hair up as random bleach spots is not an attractive look.
Go eat lunch before bleaching bathroom

foxessocks · 18/06/2018 14:25

Ta da
Finished daily routine
Another wash on
Swish and swipe downstairs loo
15 minutes bedroom decluttering
Got rid of some old clothes

To do
Everything else

I'm tired today.

Cup of tea and then it'll be time to wake ds up and collect dd soon. I really must try to get some other bits done today. Dishwasher seems to be broken too which is frustrating. It's done it before and dh fixed it so hopefully he'll be able to again.

Cagliostro · 18/06/2018 14:33

Oh nooooo hills 😭 I mean it will prevent lego related foot injuries but...

DD actually got rid of a load of her dolls the other day too. Good for clutter, but sad.

I am in a seriously snappy mood today and have a killer headache.

Cagliostro · 18/06/2018 15:45

Oh fucking hell we get our keys on Wednesday

I would run around like a headless chicken, but I’m too tired.

FUUUUUUUCK

Cagliostro · 18/06/2018 16:31

And the baby just took her first tumble off the bed. Had to happen sometime I suppose 🙄 I was literally right there as well, getting changed, but she slipped off anyway. I’m so distracted 😭

She seems ok though.

I’m going to meet DH at the cafe now while Caglets do TKD. Time to break out the Moving Notebook again.

I am seriously seriously freaking out about how much there is to do. Like, close to panic attack type freaking out.

foxessocks · 18/06/2018 16:41

Eek cag deep deep breaths it will be okay! How exciting too!

Done my list . Need to do dinner. Don't want to it's too hot. I'm going to use leftover roast chicken and do it morrocan style with cous cous.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 18/06/2018 16:41

Hello all, sorry to hear lots of people having stressful times. Just to bring the mood down further, my car has been reversed into Angry. Luckily all fine and these things happen but will be a big expensive hassle and this is not a good week for it to happen :(

masktaster · 18/06/2018 16:54

Wow, this looks doable even for me.

But maybe I'll start tomorrow Grin

HillsBesideTheSea · 18/06/2018 17:31

also ta da
not kill ds when he rocked up too late for leaving for his opticians appointment and then threw a hissy fit.
attempt to get to bank before it shut - failed
shove more washing through machine and on line
steam kitchen floor
hoover lounge
move pile of wood
apply green tape to floor
swear about the fact washing on line now stinks of barbaque - and will need to go back through wash
be relieved as this means other people will have rescued their washing and a bonfire is possible
take down washing line and set up the incinerator.
More hand washing done

to do
CAR INSURANCE!!!!!!!!!!!

foxessocks · 18/06/2018 18:36

Oh no toostressy! Were you in it or was it parked? How very very annoying.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 18/06/2018 19:13

It was parked so thankfully nobody hurt etc and of course much worse things happen. Such a hassle though, probably need courtesy car and they can’t give me any accurate timescale for any of it yet. Really not a good week for this to happen. Plus DH working tonight so have to get DDs sorted before I sort anything else out.

Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 18/06/2018 19:32

Sorry to hear about car stressy

HillsBesideTheSea · 18/06/2018 20:45

Well I have tried to renew my car insurance it has taken 2 and a half hours. My credit card company assure me they have approved payment, the insurance company have fallen to bits. customer service is shut. And I have no idea if I have actually managed to renew my car insurance or not. Because I was helpfully assured that the payment would be bounced back if the insurance company continued with issues. I am NOT a happy bunny to say the least.

Fingers crossed it is all ok and sorts itself out overnight. It is a proper balls up AngryAngry

Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 18/06/2018 20:56

zoo is there another surgery you could try?

Stilllivinginazoo · 18/06/2018 21:05

I've it's pretty average in the appointment front for where we live.ive been attend this surgery since I was 17,so not closest one to me,but we like them.theyre very good with the kids(if its urgent they put on triage phone call with duty doctor and if thought need to be seen will be seen that day, normally within that surgery(ie,ring am seen before lunch, ring pm seen that afternoon)
