If you are strugging with C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) and S.T.U.F.F. (something that undermines family fun) then this is the thread where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of chat, support and wine and cake along the way.

This is where, from the first of the month (seriously, HOW is it June already?!), we follow – loosely – the rules of FlyLady [see website here ]. (Pls ignore Flylady's barftastic language, and we suggest NOT signing up to her emails as there are rather a lot of them. All the info you need will be posted here on a daily basis.)

Helpful info on getting started here.

We adopt a three-pronged approach:

-start or repeat baby steps

  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone or area (yes, just 15 mins focused work a day makes a difference!)

and/or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

[And if you are really enthusiastic and have finished decluttering - you can go on to detailed deep cleaning in each zone.]

The launch pad is the place from which you can reach most other useful areas of the site: here.

NB
This is a very long-running thread so we may appear cliquey but we really aren't! All newcomers, long-termers, lurkers and intermittent returnees not only welcome to join in but positively encouraged to do so!

Another NB
Start where you are at!. There is no need to worry about being perfect – perfectionism = paralysis! There is no such thing as ‘falling behind’ with FlyLady, if you miss anything, just move on and continue as normal the next day.

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Happy Flying one and all!

Cagliostro · 13/06/2018 17:44

I got halfway through transferring the clothes to the dryer when I got screamed at by a small wriggly person. I am very glad we got plenty done this morning as it ain’t happening now.

Well done to your dd zoo !

Lakeland Large White Sink Tidy Organiser Storage Caddy - cag I can't make the link work sorry but if you type this into Amazon that's the one I've got! It has room for washing up liquid, some cloths and scourers, hand soap and a nail brush! Means I don't have to pick everything up to wipe the windowsill just have to move this instead. And you can dry the cloth on the handle bit , it's good (and I spent too much of my life searching for a good one!!!)

Ta da
Finished daily routine
Made ice lollies
Made flapjacks
Made dinner
Dc in bath
Put all the washing away and got another load ready to go on tomorrow
And dh has finally finally put dds magnetic calendar thing up in her room!! Anti procrastination - woohoo! (Just need him to help me sort out a bit of life admin stuff tonight)

Ta didn't - bathroom mission. Meh.

foxessocks · 13/06/2018 18:39

And yes I am totally hopeless and asked my dh to put a nail in the wall which I could have done myself Blush in my defence I do most other things!

Bowerbird5 · 13/06/2018 18:54

Vill pop back later off for a sing.

Ah Lakeland are good live in driving distance Of the original and have been a fan for years. DH groans if I mention a visit and best pal says shall we go to Lakeland and buy stuff we never knew we needed if we are on a jolly( day out.)

Cags read it as Caglitini has a ATM.

Zoo tmi!

Re s

HillsBesideTheSea · 13/06/2018 19:30

cag to be honest I hadn't spoken to ds since getting in. Throwing him so tea and he is heading straight to bed. He has the tireds.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 13/06/2018 20:06

Sorry to hear that about your DH Cag. Hope the referral goes through quickly for him Flowers.

Scoopofchaff · 14/06/2018 05:50

Baby step no. 14 for Thurs 14th is here. Using a calendar!

We are in Zone 3 this week: The Main Bathroom and One Extra Room (June 10-16). Spend 15 mins a day decluttering this area (and/or do a mission!).

If you are at the stage where you have finished decluttering Zone 3, here is the detailed cleaning list for the bathroom etc.

Thursday's mission is: here. A combined 27 fling boogie in bathroom + other room!

Thursday's daily focus is running errands.

The habit for June is: keeping hydrated by drinking lots of water.

A summary of the above (which should update itself daily) can be found in the flight plan here.

Small steps fledglings!

Good morning all! Feeling a bit more chipper about guest situation as received lovely "thank you" card from them listing a load of things which I thought had gone unnoticed/unappreciated! What a difference two small words can make eh?

Cag so sorry to hear about your dh's news. Must be hard for him when he is so in to his sport. I hope his appt with consultant goes well Flowers.

Zoo well done to your dd2 with her exam results! Hope you are feeling a bit better today - and the Zoolets of course - take it steady! John Greene a great favourite here too - I remember sitting up one night reading "The Fault in Our Stars" (reckoned I should be aware of dd's reading matter) and sobbed so much and so violently that I woke up dh! Grin Thanks for asking btw - dh still not 100% although a lot better but he is overdoing it unfortunately still - I am putting on shackles keeping close watch!

Hills I often put a few dollops of industrial vinegar in the machine with my woollens (the ones that are machine washable anyway!) Makes them all soft and somehow clarifies the colour. Hope your new role at work is still going well btw!

Cag well done with all the baby clothes washing and sorting! I like the sound of "packing away tiny musical instruments". (Although hope the tiny violin will still be available to accompany the sound of my constant whinging Grin Wink Grin)

Hope Storm Hector not too destructive Goth! Another great list there btw!

Honkywonkwoman lovely gesture to give away your spare tv! You sound like an extremely busy granny btw!

Still in the depths of exam hell here (and I choose the word "hell" advisedly!) . Let's just say I never want to read or see a Molière play ever again! Grin

DD extremely upset yesterday because she put the right answer down in geography exam (name of a certain volcano) which happened to be correct, and then lost the courage of her convictions, and changed it! Aargh! Still, it's English today, so she shouldn't have too many issues with that! Grin

I am so ready to pack and leave for the countryside I cannot wait! Only 2 weeks to go! Have a long list of things to be achieved before then however! Only prob is that I am so over choring at the moment, I have a mahoosive case of CBA, need that pointy stick!

Have a good day everyone!

Cag forgot to addFlowers for DH

foxessocks · 14/06/2018 07:05

We decided to try again stopping ds having milk in the night as I think he is waking out of habit, we made that decision and then he slept 12 hours straight two nights in a row. Then last night 2 am shouting "milk"! again , I gave him a few sips of milk then tried to switch to water. Omg. He was not happy. Gave up in the end and he went straight back to sleep. One of these days I will win this battle!!

Sc your talk of exams is bringing back memories - that geography question especially!

Cag sorry about your dh Sad

Zoo sorry I am moaning about sleep when it sounds like you had it a lot worse.

foxessocks · 14/06/2018 07:18

I am Chief Stain Remover and clothes repairer for the whole family. I keep telling them it's just soaking and Vanish but they seem to think it's some sort of magic and they can't do it. At least I have drummed into all their heads to not throw anything stained into the wash before deciding to bring it to me. ☺

Cagliostro · 14/06/2018 10:00

:o at tiny violin sc 🎻🎻🎻 I do have a Tibetan singing bowl which (literally) has a certain ring to it.

I have antiprocrastinated this morning and replied to various FB messages (that makes me sounds really popular 😂 I’m not!) - when stressed I just can’t handle messaging people so I ignore them and then get panicky about them thinking me rude...

I didn’t get the clothes finished last night as I just totally crashed and haven’t gotten up yet, I need to get breakfast though...

Scoopofchaff · 14/06/2018 10:16

Grin Cag ! Always wanted to hear one of those sing as it happens!

(SC wanders off to unearth extensive collection of Andalusian nose flutes ... .)

:o

Thanks for all the kind words about DH. Just have to see what happens really - apparently the blood markers don’t exactly match what they should be for arthritis so needs further investigation. He’s still managing sports club and jogging but if he has to stop proper running he will be devastated. He is very fit normally. I’m also wondering about bursitis after shannara mentioned it. His job has a lot of repetitive movement as well (on tills/putting stock out) and that does make the pain worse. He was planning on looking for another job after we’ve settled at the new house anyway.

Sigh. Really not what the family needs ATM and both of us are not in a good state of mental health TBH. I am on a mega go slow this morning and really need to get going to meet the others. Haven’t sorted food out for today either. FFS.

Scoopofchaff · 14/06/2018 11:59

Here's hoping your dh's diagnosis is not as bad as you both fear Cag Flowers. Must be stressful though. You certainly both have a lot on your plate ATM - a bit of a go slow may not be a bad thing ATM - take it steady and all of that x
