June's arrived too soon! Catch up with the Fledgling Fly thread ... .

If you are strugging with C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) and S.T.U.F.F. (something that undermines family fun) then this is the thread where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of chat, support and wine and cake along the way.

This is where, from the first of the month (seriously, HOW is it June already?!), we follow – loosely – the rules of FlyLady [see website here ]. (Pls ignore Flylady's barftastic language, and we suggest NOT signing up to her emails as there are rather a lot of them. All the info you need will be posted here on a daily basis.)

Helpful info on getting started here.

We adopt a three-pronged approach:

-start or repeat baby steps

  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone or area (yes, just 15 mins focused work a day makes a difference!)

and/or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

[And if you are really enthusiastic and have finished decluttering - you can go on to detailed deep cleaning in each zone.]

The launch pad is the place from which you can reach most other useful areas of the site: here.

NB
This is a very long-running thread so we may appear cliquey but we really aren't! All newcomers, long-termers, lurkers and intermittent returnees not only welcome to join in but positively encouraged to do so!

Another NB
Start where you are at!. There is no need to worry about being perfect – perfectionism = paralysis! There is no such thing as ‘falling behind’ with FlyLady, if you miss anything, just move on and continue as normal the next day.

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Happy Flying one and all!

SC I've pm her, fingers cross DS3 ok-last heard had chest infection I think?

Scoopofchaff · 14/06/2018 22:56

Quiet on here today. Hope everyone ok!

Stress central here. Three more days of exams to go (with a weekend in between). I have had my fill of the history of French theatre tonight. All of us are sneezing, have headaches, sore throats and wierd red spots too.

Really finding it hard to motivate myself to Fly. It's like I have gone in to brain/body freeze until the exams are over. Not helpful when there is so much still to do! However, trying to focus on supplying good nutritious meals for everyone at the very least. Roasted aloo gobi tonight. Cod with spinach and potato wedges tomorrow. House a pit. And I am behind with the washing that I had previously caught up with (excuse terrible grammar!) How did that happen again? Sigh.

G'night all! Links coming up!

Cripes - well done everyone - we are half way through the Flying month everyone - in the sixth month of the year!
How did that happen?
Someone stop the clock!
**

Baby step no. 15 for Fri 15th is here. Add bed-making to your morning routine! Personally, I think it's a bit eugh to do it straightaway after emerging from the sheets, as Flylady suggests, prefer to do it later on once bed is aired! But each to their own!

We are in Zone 3 this week: The Main Bathroom and One Extra Room (June 10-16). Spend 15 mins a day decluttering this area (and/or do a mission!).

If you are at the stage where you have finished decluttering Zone 3, here is the detailed cleaning list for the bathroom etc.

Friday's mission is: here. Bathroom = wipe down counter tops, inside sink, side of bath + do s & s. Other room = wash the cloth you used to clean the bathroom (???) Eh?

Friday's daily focus is cleaning/decluttering, purses, handbags, cars. Oh yes and it's date night not happening here.

The habit for June is: keeping hydrated by drinking lots of water.

A summary of the above (which should update itself daily) can be found in the flight plan here.

Keep going everyone!

It is indeed quiet! I’d love to say it’s because I’d been busy flying Hmm

ta da
✅dryer on
✅folded a few baby clothes
✅went to badgers and found out today DD starts cadets, they’d never told me the date 😡 so an extra 1.5h hanging around. Fun.

Cagliostro · 14/06/2018 23:08

HillsBesideTheSea · 15/06/2018 08:07

ds is not speaking to me - the great computer issue, He wants me to fix it yesterday, time and energy has not been on my side
my throat is scratchy, my eyes itchy, I have trapped a nerve in my lower back so my butt has gone to sleep (a weird feeling that one) People are too peopley and its friday so I have LOTS to deal with. I claimed to have finished a major document yesterday so it was ready for proof reading on Monday, got half way home and went Oh crap I forgot that section entirely so somehow have to get it sorted this morning when I am normally so busy that sitting down is an issue before the computer system goes down for maintenance HmmSad I need a nice quiet weekend and have a crazy weekend of rushing about and decorating. It hurts to breathe. Actually I think everything hurts thing morning even my nose.

to do
dry work clothes (or wear wet)
ds to school
lunch boxes
work
pack ds' stuff
drive across the hills
drop ds off - try to remember grown out of clothes for his cousin
drive back across hill
fill holes in walls/gaps between walls and skirting boards
Fall into bed

That is about as much as I can cram into today. Tomorrow's list otoh should be far more exhausting. I fear I am going to have to let my mother drive when we run some errands together. Her driving often scares me these days and it is debatable how safe she actually is on the roads. Hmm She would claim it is an over-reaction. But if she drives I can nap. which might work very nicely

foxessocks · 15/06/2018 08:24

Ah but would you nap if her driving isn't the best hills you might stay ultra alert!

Ta da
10 minute workout
Dc breakfast
Stripped dd bed due to wet bed this morning, bedding in wash

To do
Supermarket
GP later
Declutter bag purse car
15 minutes decluttering
Daily routine
Swish and swipe downstairs loo
Bathroom mission

How's everyone doing with drinking more water? I'm failing pretty miserably! Going to have a glass right now!

Scoopofchaff · 15/06/2018 08:51

I think I am drinking less water than usual for some reason!

Sorry you are feeling so rough Hills

OP posts:
foxessocks · 15/06/2018 12:10

Oh no sc! Have a glass now! I've had two extra today on top of my usual tea consumption Smile

Ta da
Picked up some shopping
Got friend birthday present for tomorrow
Did plastic / glass recycling

To do
Everything else.

Once ds is asleep I need to get on before I have to pick dd up from her friends house and then get the dc to another friend so I can go to the gp. One of those days today where I'm just running round in circles Confused not really achieving much. And dh has invited his brother over later but we still don't know if he's coming or not. I really like to know in advance but I'm trying to be cool about it! Grin (I don't have to do anything btw, we'll get a takeaway if he does come but I could do with hoovering and just straightening the house a bit)

foxessocks · 15/06/2018 12:11

On a positive note I have bought bagels and cream cheese from the supermarket and I have some smoked salmon in the fridge so I have a posh lunch for once!

HonkyWonkWoman · 15/06/2018 12:29

Trying to drink more water but annoyingly the more I drink the more trips to the Loo there are. 😠
I've just thrown a big plant away that my Dd bought me years ago, it was getting old and didn't look that good on my window-sill any more. I still felt mean throwing it in the Green bin though as it was still alive. Silly I know!

Ta da
Fed dog and cat
Swish and swipe
Dark wash done and on line
Towels in washer
Cooked Chicken
Bring Black bin in
Find small green bin, thrown up the road 😠

To do
Walk Buffydog
Chicken Salad for lunch.
Look for new bike for Dgs9 Birthday next week

Better get going! Bye for now!

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/06/2018 13:17

Tada
Shop done(end up in sainsbo as DP drove and spent lot longer in there and way more money than should've done.heyho)
Wash dry and put away, more in
Gave cat meds
Lunch for me,dd2,do and kits(they have a pouch, not homemade offerings!!)
Drank 500mls water

Am getting an around a litre at mo,which is good by my standards...something to keep working on!!

Scoopofchaff · 15/06/2018 13:42

Ta da:
emptied dw
s & s
dog walk 1
collected dirty laundry, wet towels, plates, mugs, half-eaten biscuits from all over house [thank you dd]
tidied bathroom ready for cleaning
three hours proper "work" work.

Decluttering is very hard sometimes Honkywonkwoman but sometimes I think it pays to harden one's heart. What type is Buffydog if you don't mind me asking? (Obv don't feel you have to reply if too identifying!)

[Glugs water so Foxes won't tell me off Grin]

Not a good day so far:
Cleaner found decomposed mouse under sofa Shock - treble eugh- and a few mouse droppings on the street side wall in tv/play room - another thing I have to get on top of before we leave for the summer!! Thing is, I have a really good (almost too good!) sense of smell and I just don't understand how we missed this; unless the dog brought it in already in decomposed state ifyswim. Just urrghhh.

Furry misbehaved badly when I tried to talk to lovely cleaner. He barks so much and gets quite aggressive. Its very odd. It's like a toddler trying to interrupt a phone conversation. I don't know quite what to do about it because although he will obediently go to his bed when told, he starts barking again when he gets there!

Went in to dd's room ( a very bad mistake) and found all the clean and ironed laundry that she had sincerely promised to put away in her chest of drawers (after I had spent a good hr or so sorting said c of d a week or so ago) strewn all over the floor; dirty and clean laundry together [grrrr] I despair I really do!

DD has also "borrowed" my best fountain pen again. She is also now out with her boyfriend hanging around the tram station and is 45 mins past her agreed time to return home [harrumph]. Not happy because there are some quite drunk strange people hanging around there at times.

Plus I have to go to the supermarket and I don't want to [first world problem of mega proportions I know].

Still, I have finally found out how to access the emoji boards on my ancient main frame so all is not lost ...

👀👀🐱‍🐉🎉🤦✔🎁😜✌🤣🎨🎈👔😫😫😜💚🍕🦗👀👀
