If you are strugging with C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) and S.T.U.F.F. (something that undermines family fun) then this is the thread where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of chat, support and wine and cake along the way.

This is where, from the first of the month (seriously, HOW is it June already?!), we follow – loosely – the rules of FlyLady [see website here ]. (Pls ignore Flylady's barftastic language, and we suggest NOT signing up to her emails as there are rather a lot of them. All the info you need will be posted here on a daily basis.)

Helpful info on getting started here.

We adopt a three-pronged approach:

-start or repeat baby steps

  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone or area (yes, just 15 mins focused work a day makes a difference!)

and/or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

[And if you are really enthusiastic and have finished decluttering - you can go on to detailed deep cleaning in each zone.]

The launch pad is the place from which you can reach most other useful areas of the site: here.

NB
This is a very long-running thread so we may appear cliquey but we really aren't! All newcomers, long-termers, lurkers and intermittent returnees not only welcome to join in but positively encouraged to do so!

Another NB
Start where you are at!. There is no need to worry about being perfect – perfectionism = paralysis! There is no such thing as ‘falling behind’ with FlyLady, if you miss anything, just move on and continue as normal the next day.

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Happy Flying one and all!

Neither ds nor I eat breakfast. ds did this morning because I have some small packets from a multi pack left over from our holiday (great shove in rucksack size) I had a bowl of grated cheese. But it is a unusal day for breakfast that. [blush

Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 11/06/2018 09:50

See i tried the tesco dairy free yogurts and they tasted fine to me! But they were rejected. I try to stock up on alpro stuff when its on offer

HillsBesideTheSea · 11/06/2018 10:41

Nope I agree, tesco dairy free yoghurts leave a weird after texture in the mouth. Yuck. Needs something to cut through what even lingers. am picky about texture and hate gluten free brownies - they have the texture of sand [boak]

Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 11/06/2018 10:51

Meh. I thought i was dead good when i found them. Nice range of flavours etc.... maybe not!

Giggage · 11/06/2018 10:56

I bloody hate summer.

It's too hot to sleep, too hot to run in. Too hot to eat anything other than ice cream.

Ta-dahs:

Picked up shopping
washed, dried and put away 1 load of washing
made beds
fed cats
cat litter
Re-dye black jeans
emptied and cleaned bins
posted letter
hoovered stairs
swish and swipe
cleaned curtain rails
cleaned front door
been to butchers

To do

Sort out built in wardrobe
put some stuff in loft
clean kitchen windows and DD's windows
find out where mystery money has come from and if they want it back. (hope not, really could do with it)
dinner
load and empty dishwasher
put DP's fathers day gift by front door to drop off tomorrow in his daughters room.

firehousedog · 11/06/2018 11:29

Gig Even though I wake up ridiculously early during the summer (i'm a super light sleeper who wakes with the birds singing/seagulls tearing apart next doors bin bags) I love the summer. It was beautiful and sunny and hot first thing this morning but its gone all cloudy here now Sad

ta das

first laundry load washed and pegged out
second laundry load in the wash
bleach down both loos
quick wipe over both bathrooms
new towels put out in bathroomns
made beds
picked up clothes, toys, books, from floor of kids rooms
general tidy up downstairs

Gonna crack on with the hoovering and try and have it done before lunch.

HillsBesideTheSea · 11/06/2018 11:30

Ive - no you are the flavours are ok, but if you have texture sensitivity that is where the issue lies. Ds loves the milk free gluten free brownies. I would rather starve then eat them. Purely a texture thing.

HillsBesideTheSea · 11/06/2018 11:42

foxessocks · 11/06/2018 12:10

Ouch hills hope it's okay

Well I totally misjudged the weather today should have looked at the forecast sent dd in with no suncream on and now it's boiling hot. Hope they put some on everyone after lunch, think they should do if they're playing outside because even if I'd put it on this morning it would need topping up...eek.

Ta da
Library
Got few groceries (mainly cheese!)

Ds asleep now so i will do a bit of work on the computer and then a power hour I think.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 11/06/2018 13:07

Oh dear Hills. foxes, can you phone them and ask them to put suncream on?

Ta da:-
Lots of laundry
Some unpacking from the weekend
Found gymnastics outfits and washed them and they are drying on the line
Went through most of my summer clothes. Giggage, thanks for your comment on what I feel comfortable in. I have a top I absolutely love that is my ‘go to’ going out top. I had put it away as I have really over worn it and people have seen it so many times. But the people at the reunion will never have seen it so I think I will wear that if I don’t find anything else.
Summer clothes organised (not decluttered but that’s ok, I really have so few that there is nothing to declutter atm.
Rand my mum.

To do:-
Get after school snack and packed tea ready
Eat lunch
Do as much unpacking / tidying as is feasible

Scoopofchaff · 11/06/2018 13:35

Hills hope your arm is ok?

Attn: whinge alert! Feel free to ignore the following!

I am so sick of choring! (Sorry - not a very thread leaderish comment - or encouraging to others).

Just in a bad mood today.

DD has exams all week. Collectively, only 50% pass. She is consequently in a foul mood. I am currently serving time as a stress absorber.

Dh has thrown himself back in to work as if he has not been ill. He'll probably be booking flights for business trips soon. Any pleas to take it steady are ignored. Tbh, I'm losing sympathy!

I have been to a med appt this morning and spent a lot of time sitting in an airless, room. Why does no-one ever voluntarily open a window in this ruddy country?

Have lots of chores to do but currently sat in boudoir drinking coffee by myself. I may not emerge for some time.

Confused

Cagliostro · 11/06/2018 15:49

Random exciting thing... proper sink! Stainless steel type thing rather than the plastic crap one we have...

I CAN SHINE MY SINK.

Cagliostro · 11/06/2018 16:03

Also also also! Curtain poles! I know it’s a really small thing but I’ve always wanted proper curtain poles not those plastic runner things.
