If you are strugging with C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) and S.T.U.F.F. (something that undermines family fun) then this is the thread where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of chat, support and wine and cake along the way.

This is where, from the first of the month (seriously, HOW is it June already?!), we follow – loosely – the rules of FlyLady [see website here ]. (Pls ignore Flylady's barftastic language, and we suggest NOT signing up to her emails as there are rather a lot of them. All the info you need will be posted here on a daily basis.)

Helpful info on getting started here.

We adopt a three-pronged approach:

-start or repeat baby steps

  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone or area (yes, just 15 mins focused work a day makes a difference!)

and/or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

[And if you are really enthusiastic and have finished decluttering - you can go on to detailed deep cleaning in each zone.]

The launch pad is the place from which you can reach most other useful areas of the site: here.

NB
This is a very long-running thread so we may appear cliquey but we really aren't! All newcomers, long-termers, lurkers and intermittent returnees not only welcome to join in but positively encouraged to do so!

Another NB
Start where you are at!. There is no need to worry about being perfect – perfectionism = paralysis! There is no such thing as ‘falling behind’ with FlyLady, if you miss anything, just move on and continue as normal the next day.

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Happy Flying one and all!

It is! Eeeeep. Still feel in a daze TBH I had spent so long becoming gradually more convinced it would never happen

I forgot more ta da
✅paid tap and ballet invoices
✅realised DD missed her first dance workshop (jazz/contemporary) because I’m an idiot and didn’t realise the first one was last month :(

Fail!

Cagletini is becoming snotty so not looking forward to the next couple of days.

firehousedog · 08/06/2018 23:06

Once again I forgot to log in to mn today Blush

Anyway heres what i done

fed kids
dressed kids
school run
2x laundry loads in the wash
pegged clothes outside to dry
hoovered all rooms
weekly grocery shop
school run
made tea
washed dishes and put away
wiped over kitchen surfaces
bathed kids
general tidy up

Good luck with the house viewing on Monday Cag. We are currently doing the house viewing malarky too for our first time buying house. Its hard work finding somewhere to purchase rather than to just rent. Its a completely different mindset i find.

Stilllivinginazoo · 09/06/2018 06:40

I am tired.ds is so snotty he can't sleep and when does he snores like a thousand road drills.its going to be a loong summer if we can't fix his hayfever symptoms...

Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 09/06/2018 07:06

Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 09/06/2018 11:14

zoo CakeBrew

Stilllivinginazoo · 09/06/2018 11:35

Really need start doing some washing and clearing up(sigh)

foxessocks · 09/06/2018 11:37

Ta da
Supermarket (which was hell what was I thinking?!)
Dishwasher on
2 X washing on (had to do dd bedsheets due to bed wetting incident early this morning)
Rubbish out
Thrown wilted flowers away
Done a work task

To do
Finish daily routine
Get house ready for visitors later
Give dc a bath before visitors as they didn't have one yesterday we got home too late
Post card to friend

I basically need to get stuff done...it hasn't been a good week for getting stuff done tbh.

Zoo hope your mood improves , I'm sure it will once you have a little peace Smile

foxessocks · 09/06/2018 11:38

And I have a headache Sad

Cagliostro · 09/06/2018 12:28

DH put some laundry on this morning but there’s more to do. DD is home from ballroom and wants to play out but we need to go into town to get a few bits, this feels much easier than staying home to tidy up 😳 I will be getting some more boxes to pack things into though

Cagliostro · 09/06/2018 12:30

Hope everyone feels better BTW

I still have ouchy glands but they aren’t bothering me most of the time.

Ooh I just realised we could also take the library books back and get a little bit of a walk in that way too if we get off the bus early.

foxessocks · 09/06/2018 13:17

Headache not really shifting.

Ta da
Washed dd cuddly toy
Tidied dd bed and put clean waterproof sheet on
Quick tidy in DD bedroom
Made ds sandwich and put him down for nap
Made myself some lunch and dd has been picking at fruit and scones all morning Hmm

I'm working on a fifteen minutes doing stuff fifteen minutes sitting down basis today as my head (and the rest of me) can't seem to cope with much movement in one go! At least I'm getting somewhere I guess. And dh will be home soon so he can do dc bath and hoovering and stuff (he doesn't know this yet Grin)

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 09/06/2018 13:25

Hope everyone feels better soon.

Ta da:-
DD1 did dance display
DD2 watched really nicely ShockSmile
Went to a town fair thing but have come back with loads of cuddly toys Confused.
Lunch eaten

We are not going to proper dance classes because of the dance display and gymnastics.

To do:-
Unpack from this morning
Tidy up lunch
Laundry check
15 mins decluttering if time
Prep for this afternoon as the girls have a gymnastics thing later
Have promised them a Macdonalds tea afterwards
Bedtime straight after we get back

DDs having some TV time while we catch up but now they want to look at their swimming things I bought for our holiday Confused
Could really do with a sit down and tv watch myself but will plough on.

Cagliostro · 09/06/2018 13:26

Right. Second wash is on, dryer is on. Caglets told to play outside until 2 when they have to come in so we can get ready to go into town.

Cagletini is getting even faster, and better at pulling herself up, so doing anything other than watching her intently is impossible while nobody else is home! I’m knackered though so I’m going with it rather than sticking her in the buggy, since she will be in it for a while later. So tired (she barely went in her bed last night as she is bunged up).

Must at least write a shopping list for town.

HillsBesideTheSea · 09/06/2018 13:36

ta da
not killed the person in the house who is nosily and repeatidly clearing their throat --this deserves an award
Some restful crafting

Just eating a bowl of grated cheese for breakfast at lunchtime I know, i know I am trying to muster the will and motivation to deal with my bed room which is more than a complete disaster!
I am serious considering heading into town instead. A photo album for 7x5 is needed and I could use some other errands being run but it is a whole heap of effort. And i am not sure i have the energy for that.

Cagliostro · 09/06/2018 14:14

DD keeps grumbling at me as she wants her friend to come with us to town. Nope. Not in the mood to be accompanied TBH.

Cagletini has dozed off on the sofa. Tempted to join in.

Stilllivinginazoo · 09/06/2018 14:41

Well aren't we a perky bunch today!!Grin

I've awoken from hour nap with headache(grr)

Tada
Bag up some rubbish for "d"p to take and Dutch in work bin
Made lunch, felt sick and couldn't eat any- this is second time I've cooked eggs and not been able eat them in 6weeks deletes any possibility buy eggs in bear future

I really need to shake my tail feathers and crack on with something, anything really as place a hideous mess and laundry trickling down the stairs but alas I really want sit and eat a bowl grated cheese n veg in front on telly
Time will tell if motivation or cba wins....

Cagliostro · 09/06/2018 14:43

I gave the Caglets an extra hour. Really do need to get moving when they come in at 3 though.

Bah. Sick of life today.

Need to go write that list.

Stilllivinginazoo · 09/06/2018 14:43

Dump in bin FFS

And to clarify just a bowl of cheese.i want to veg in front TV not eat anyGrin

Has anyone tried the malteser buttons yet?!
DS had some earlier and the one I pinched was so good had exert all willpower I had not snatch and consume whole bag....

Stilllivinginazoo · 09/06/2018 14:45

cag at least play out bit longer you either get bit rest or more done.either way is a win I think

Forgot to add Starfor little stressy sitting nicely watch her sister

Cagliostro · 09/06/2018 15:05

:o at the idea of me actually getting anything done :o nope. In fact when the Caglets came in the first thing I did was hand them the baby so I could go to the loo in peace Blush :o

Right, I have a list, need to get everyone ready to go (everyone is dressed but me!) then will head off. Library first then a few different shops.

Stilllivinginazoo · 09/06/2018 15:37

Tbh cag I'm impressed you can push self out door once lunchtime has passed

Everyone loves a trip to loo alone!! i still not guaranteed it

Tada
Load wash on
Located a path thru living room floor
Put dvd on for D's(waterhorse)as dd2 has decided her and lil zoo are go listen music n hang out upstairs.i HATE this as dd2 is "training" lil zoo to back her up in rows with me,answer back and generally behave like she does.i just don't have energy to fight them both and force her downstairs
I will definitely regret this laterSad

Scoopofchaff · 09/06/2018 15:49

Brew Gin Cake for everyone who is feeling tired and grumpy today ...

The news from this end is that guests are still here. Have just finished clearing up lunch. 'Nough said.

Toostressy congrats to your dd1 on her dance display, and to your dd2 for her good behaviour!

Ta da:
dog walk 1
two loads washing on
hung up
two more on
emptied dw
watched a bit of Trooping the Colour (I am a sucker for a military band and ranks of horse flesh, not to mention the Irish wolfhound mascot)
tried to help despairing dd with maths revision but its too difficult for me (and it being in Fr lang doesn't help with understanding "key" of question ifyswim)
quick flit to shops
cooked chicken risotto for lunch
cleared up
dog walk 2

desperate for some time by myself so off for as long a bath as I can justify ... [locks bathroom door firmly]

Encouraging wing flaps to everyone!
