June's arrived too soon! Catch up with the Fledgling Fly thread ... .

If you are strugging with C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) and S.T.U.F.F. (something that undermines family fun) then this is the thread where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of chat, support and wine and cake along the way.

This is where, from the first of the month (seriously, HOW is it June already?!), we follow – loosely – the rules of FlyLady [see website here ]. (Pls ignore Flylady's barftastic language, and we suggest NOT signing up to her emails as there are rather a lot of them. All the info you need will be posted here on a daily basis.)

Helpful info on getting started here.

We adopt a three-pronged approach:

-start or repeat baby steps

  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone or area (yes, just 15 mins focused work a day makes a difference!)

and/or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

[And if you are really enthusiastic and have finished decluttering - you can go on to detailed deep cleaning in each zone.]

The launch pad is the place from which you can reach most other useful areas of the site: here.

NB
This is a very long-running thread so we may appear cliquey but we really aren't! All newcomers, long-termers, lurkers and intermittent returnees not only welcome to join in but positively encouraged to do so!

Another NB
Start where you are at!. There is no need to worry about being perfect – perfectionism = paralysis! There is no such thing as ‘falling behind’ with FlyLady, if you miss anything, just move on and continue as normal the next day.

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Happy Flying one and all!

Hi, may I join too? I could definitely need some cleaning motivation as it's part of my job here but I have grown to loathe it more or less. Also need to de-clutter before packing up and going home this summer, so this seems perfect.

Ta-dah

I have even taken the secateurs to the overgrown path where people walk their dogs. It was so bad you couldn't walk upright due to overhanging branches, overgrown bushes, nettles and weeds. well you can now. Now you only need to concentrate on avoiding the dog shit that some owners couldn't be bothered to pick up, or more strangely, have bagged it, but then left it in the path.

One house owner I was talking to has started to provide bin bags tied to the fence for people to use as they are so sick of it too. The council have had several emails but have yet to respond, let alone do anything.

Well done on finishing the underskirt Tidy- I cant sew to save my life!
Everybody has had a very productive day! Loads has been achieved. Well done!

Cagliostro · 05/06/2018 15:21

They reckon we will be viewing the property by the end of the week. They phoned to check our rough income. To see if we can afford the rent. Errrrrm it’s almost £300 a month cheaper, I think we’ll manage 😂 anyway it’s now a question of waiting for another phone call. Eeeeee! I’m getting more excited and less stressed now, in the sense that I have at least ascertained that the property IS bigger than here, and I know that while it’s not massive it is enough of an increase to make a significant difference to our lives. It’s looking more and more likely that we will say HELL YEAH when we’ve seen it.

We’ve done a bit of work (not much TBH but enough that I feel like we are back in the zone) and the Caglets are now having their screen time as it’s after 3pm. We will have to leave soon though as we need an earlier bus to avoid the busy ones, baby is too heavy for my sling now and I need to take the buggy. I also need to get her redressed as she got covered in grass and chilli earlier (we played tennis after sports club and then stayed at the cafe for lunch).

CatherineTheTiny · 05/06/2018 16:14

great, you guys are brilliant (Changed back to my main account name btw, sorry for the confusion)😊

Things I got done today:
-picked kiddo up from school
-fixed him a snack
-homework without big fights
-laundry out of the dryer
-made a plan for dinner

To do:
-vacuum
-clean bathroom
-actually make dinner
-clean kitchen

(and all that with only the small compartment of the sink to use because the main one has pipe-problems and can't be used at the moment)

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 05/06/2018 16:28

Hello all, very productive days from a lot of people! Welcome again to newcomers. New house is sounding good Cag Smile.

I’m at the park after school with DDs.

Ta da:-
Bought a card
Read a few pages of parenting book as determined to get back into it
Laundry under control
Tea prepped for later (jacket potato with beans and cheese)
Did some stuff for work, have to write a presentation which is quite time consuming
Decluttered some emails
Started looking to see if I can declutter any books (Clutterbug challenge day 25)
Ordered some bits needed for DD1 camping trip

To do:-
Lure DDs out of park
Usual teatime, bath time, bedtime
Read more parenting book
Look at summer holiday childcare

Possibly:-
Look to see if I can do any bank shifts I am unlikely to do this

firehousedog · 05/06/2018 16:59

Ta da

Washing hung outside
Hoovered downstairs
school run
tea cooking (fish fingers and potatoe wedges for the kids, curry for the adults)

to do

wash up tea
read with kids
bath and bedtime routine
general tidy up

Giggage We were on the beach the other day. I observed a family walking a dog. Dog went for a crap. Family seemed to be caught short with no bags. After a few minutes of standing around talking amongst themselves looking at the steaming poo they started to walk away. It took one of the kids to run back and place stones to cover the poo. I gave the family the benefit of doubt that they may have returned with a bag to pick up the mess. They did not return Angry This is why I do not like bathing on dog friendly beaches, but it was my brother's birthday and his choice of what to do.
