Or try to anyway!

All welcome! I am struggling to stay awake so I’ll do the proper thread stuff tomorrow, but if you’d like some encouragement and chat while you get your house sorted then this is the place for you. We follow flylady in a delightfully lax sort of fashion.

Special thanks to zoo for the title idea 💐 😘

Saltcrust · 17/05/2018 10:19

Team brown banana here - for loaves anyway - Nigella has fab recipe which I like and I don't normally like banana bread.

DD is off school with some sort of stomach virus thing. I am mahoosively behind with everything here and at wreck2 (where everything is growing like the clappers) and it seems extremely churlish to complain when I am so ruddy fortunate, but I can't keep up with either.

Speaking of growing I'vegotfamily you are not too late to plant things. Traditionally in UK, around 27th May is the time when you can be relatively sure we won't be having any more frosts. You can sow annuals direct in to the ground, some veg (climbing beans for example) and if you go to the garden centre you could buy some little plants (toms, basil, courgettes?) to start you off. You can also start pumpkin seeds in pots ready to plant end Sept. And it may not be too late to plant sunflowers.

Happy anniversary Zoo!

Ta da yesterday:
took furry to trainers
emptied dw
cleaned stove top
prepped collars and cuffs school shirt
did white wash + washed throws
washed bed-linen x 2
spoke to various men about a horse
spoke to sister and sister in law
emergency Sprint to chemist and baker for DD
sorted more laundry
hand washed four scarves
scratched head at huge pile of winter woolies waiting for hand-washing and wondered how it got that big?
baked spuds and salad for supper
sorted lap top (partially)

Ta da so far today:
early dental appt
made doc appt for DD (still off school)
fold laundered bed linen
emptied dw
cleared up kitchen a bit
s&s
hung up washing to on dry on terrace

To do:
feed wms again
admin e-mails
sort post for dh
write cards
pack parcels
post office
calendering
make veggie curry/soup
sort boudoir x 1 drawer
at least 2 hrs work
dining room table hot spots
manicure/pedicure/eyebrows

Loads more but that should do for now. Also need to re-do menus for Sat. Thought wedding was afternoon tea number but it will be lunch time here and even though dh is rabid republican and I am ambivalent about royals (although enjoy horse flesh and historical aspects) we are going to prep a wee buffet thing (if DD better that is).

(SC trots off to seek out bunting ...)

Still haven't caught up with thread properly but mahoosive waves to everyone!

HillsBesideTheSea · 17/05/2018 10:30

SC i miss read that and was wondering why you were feeding worms and why again Blush

I am on my 3rd cup of coffee already. Oops?

Saltcrust · 17/05/2018 10:56

Well it would help with the large composting piles I am constructing in the country Hills but in town it's just the wms I am feeding ATM! Grin. Crikey, those are some ginormous lists you have there. Very best of luck with them! I too am looking at the boudoir and searching my head thinking "how on Earth has it descended in to such a pit again when I cleared it all before I left? Was it some sort of dream?". (Sigh.)

Well done to your DD Cag for her award and I can well remember (shudder) the rigours of show day! Bon courage and all of that and with your busy days ahead!

Have a good day at work Toostressy!

Good luck with the invilgilating and with helping your bf Bowerbird!

Well done re:bedroom reconfiguration Goth and for being on top of laundry Star

Hope you and your dp have a lovely day Zoo!

Hope the toy turns up Foxes! Have you checked every inch of the car? I recently found a missing document bag of dh's which had somehow got jammed right back under the seats.

Saltcrust · 17/05/2018 11:17

Bearyinlove I think most of the routines people mention on here have evolved from the baby-steps (but obviously adapt them to suit yourself) which eventually become second nature ie putting out clothes for next day night before, swishing and swiping of bathroom, emptying dw, shining sink before bed etc etc, and the morning, post school/work and evening routines you develop yourself.

Waves to Lisette Whoknows Call Cordelia MissReginaPhilange strawberry1122 Blueyeshadow Thingywatsit and anyone else I have missed!

BTW, I am beginning to think that Cotswold was right.. I received one of those "you have been mentioned in a post" e-mails from Mumsnet HQ recently, referring to a thread I hadn't ever posted on Hmm!!! Turns out their system had confused two nicknames (I had a v old old nn that was partly the same as another poster's). When I contacted them about it, I got a very prompt response back apologising and reassuring me there had been no security breach (which is what I was worried about). But as much as I love Mumsnet it doesn't exactly inspire confidence does it? My life is moving on anyway and I soon won't be able to post as much on here, but anyone else worried about security?

GoingGoingGoth · 17/05/2018 11:43

Happy Anniversary Hills

waves to cag - hope you are feeling less tired. I hope your dd gets well soon SC. Hello to everyone else too. You've all been impressively busy.

I've got the morning routine and evening routine going, getting the daily stuff done too. House bleurgh not done and this week's zone cleaning is on hold until I'm more airbourne . Place tidy though and non cluttered (so I can see the dirt more clearly, ha ha)

However laundry conquered and rest of week missions being done so plan and play and errand day have been achieved.

foxessocks · 17/05/2018 12:03

sc I'm not worried about MN specifically but security online is at the back of my mind a lot now. I haven't had any issues so far with MN but I know there's been a lot going on recently.... I'd miss this thread though. It's all I post on tbh.

I have checked the car but maybe not hard enough...it's fairly large so not sure if it could get stuck behind anything. It's so frustrating!

My green beans have all been eaten Angry and the last one was mysteriously snapped in half yesterday Sad

Ta da
Bought bread
Made ds lunch - sausage and apple roll, cucumber and satsuma

To do
Daily routine
15 minutes dc bedrooms
15 minutes deep cleaning bathroom
Make cakes for party at dd nursery tomorrow
Make banana bread if bananas ripe enough or make extra cakes for home (otherwise they will all get eaten before tomorrow anyway!)

HillsBesideTheSea · 17/05/2018 12:19

if anyone fancys helping with a very very boring paperwork question here

Stilllivinginazoo · 17/05/2018 13:23

I only post here foxes rest MN is major vipers nest
This threads a lovely place to offload a shitty day,ask questions without feeling like an idiot, and connect with people when it feels like you are very very on your own...

Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 17/05/2018 13:36

I do post on other threads sometime however i always seem to get drawn into arguments Blush Most recently was involving posters claiming all children could be toilet trained before age 2 and that the need to be able to communicate didnt matter

HillsBesideTheSea · 17/05/2018 13:48

Shock ive bloody hell that is just bonkers!

Cagliostro · 17/05/2018 13:55

Sitting on the front lawn doing home ed now. Only just got back. Primark and Asda to the rescue, I have a cheap outfit (just hope it fits) and it’s stuff I will use again. Picnic food bought. Had a brief look for the workbooks I wanted to get in WHS but no luck so eBay it is. Ended up grabbing lunch out too which I really really need to not do anymore FFS.

Somebody make this week go faster please 😭😭😭

foxessocks · 17/05/2018 14:06

I'm feel like my brain is completely overloaded with remembering everything for everybody
I tried doing the bathroom deep clean but started doing the grout whitening and got thoroughly fed up because I feel like I'm just polishing a turd. We desperately need a new bathroom. After sitting down with a cup of tea and thinking I've decided since we don't have the time (or the money really) for the bathroom right now I will do some serious mould removal and painting instead.

Sorry that was a bit of a brain dump!! This is why I like the thread zoo!

I feel a bit snowed under at the moment and I hardly even do any paid work, I don't know how people with full-time or proper part-time jobs manage with small children + working, they have my full respect!

foxessocks · 17/05/2018 14:08

Ta da
daily routine + second load of washing on
a bit of bathroom cleaning but mostly just staring at it and thinking

to do
15 minutes dc bedrooms
make cakes
cook dinner - salmon with potato wedges and veg with a bit of lemon juice and mayo

Lisette40 · 17/05/2018 14:16

I try to post here or on one other quiet thread. Basically confine myself to household stuff, style and beauty. In other threads offence is taken so easily that I don't bother any more.

Saltcrust · 17/05/2018 14:36

Sorry can't help with paperwork q Hills as rules different over here. But we basically have to keep everything forever. DD even has to keep each year's school work boxed up and available for inspection to prove she has been educated by the state! Don't start me on tax and vat ... . Good luck with it though.

Sounds like you had a v productive morning Cag!

Goth: Monty Don says in one of his bks that one of best year's in veg plot he ever had was when he planted late May! (I always repeat this alot 'cos I am always late!!)

Agree this thread - safe haven - and good for off-loading, esp when you are going through young infant groundhog sleepless night and grumpy teens stage Grin

I've I hate snippiness on threads but I always seem get in to arguments too. Got incensed (and spent far too long/wasted hrs I will never get back) on recent one where people were arguing healthy teen should not stand up for older lady with walking stick on train fhs! There was even praise for her having the balls not to do it. I despair! What's the world coming to eh? Sad If DD behaved like and hadn't shot out of her seat sharpish (whether seat booked or not) I would have been ashamed frankly. (And breathe ...)

Foxes sympathies re: bathroom looking shabby hwr much you clean. In all seriousness, our entire house is like that. Large parts have not been decorated in over 15 yrs (paint and labour mahoosively more expensive than in UK) and parts we don't live in have not been touched for over seventy yrs I think. It does get v demoralising but good luck with makeover. I should have done more of that looking back, but it all seemed too overwhelming and I gave up! Flowers

V well done re: laundry and missions Lisette

Work "work" has been done. Back to choring now ... .

Saltcrust · 17/05/2018 15:30

Eek, I've just posted on another thread about white cotton shirts and mentioned a particular brand. Adverts for that brand displaying white cotton shirts are now showing on my screen. Call me naieve but this is all getting a bit too big brother for me now ... .

Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 17/05/2018 18:48

Urgh

'Dp' has come home in a stupid mood. Pissed about then had a strop and now gone to bed. Great.

Stilllivinginazoo · 17/05/2018 19:35

Same old,same old

HillsBesideTheSea · 17/05/2018 19:47

same old same old. yep that sounds familiar.

might have also mutter ffs this is why we can't have nice things a rather large number of times today too

HillsBesideTheSea · 17/05/2018 21:01

I sat down which means the end of doing for tonight. Turns out sitting down is a bad plan. Ah well. I am hoping for a good night's sleep but as the doc has just taken the boy off his melatonin for a month and the boy is in the middle of when he needs it the most I am not helpful that sleep is going to be most happening I could cry, a lot, am sooo tired

Cagliostro · 17/05/2018 23:35

Sorry for ignoring your thread hills but I have not got even the tiniest clue about the subject matter 😳

I'm feel like my brain is completely overloaded with remembering everything for everybody

OMG yes, just... yes

ta da
✅found suitable outfit for party. Unfortunately includes a top i now need to take back but I realised as I got home it had no tag on it :( not sure if they’ll even exchange it without? I have the receipt (assuming I haven’t lost it in the last few hours)
✅chose and ordered textbooks - year 5&6 geography and history (DD is understanding about needing to try these rather than jump into year 7, she is currently in year 6 anyway), year 6 English and a year 7 geography and history to use when the first ones are finished because they were crazy cheap used copies of good brands. Should be a good start, pretty excited actually although also wondering how the fuck I will find the time.
✅ordered leotard and shorts for DD
✅bought birthday cards and a little plant book to prep for botany workshops next week
✅Japanese practice
✅tumble drying
✅bought shitloads of picnic food for tomorrow

ta didn’t
❌get anything else even vaguely ready for tomorrow 😱😭 need to sort buggy/car seat, pack picnic properly including supplies for the baby, and pack the changing bag as it’s a disorganised mess

Posting links now as I will be in a huge rush tomorrow morning due to the above.

Morning! Pretty nippy here overnight.

I've Brew

Hope you had a lovely day yesterday Zoo!

Have a great picnic today Cag

I am frantically clearing paths for cleaner Blush and trying to finish yesterday's list as I only got through half of it. DD still off school ill which is a bit of a disaster in terms of forthcoming exams (doc took blood tests last night and we are ringing up about them today). Also need to collect furry from trainer this morning.

Have a good one everybody.
