Right you horrible lot stop nattering so much nah it wouldn't be fun if you did

So you have wandered into this corner of MN were the fledglings - a long running but very friendly group welcomes newbies and follows the flylady way to try to get decluttered and on top of the boring stuff in order to have more time for the fun other boring but essential stuff

No idea whose turn it was to run the thread this month but here it the thread and we can figure it out from there.

As it's national women's Day today D's asked what is tom?

I Google it and I discovered (way more importantly) 7th April is national no housework day!!

Afresh I have a shark steam mop. To be honest, it has been a bit of a disappointment. Here is what it is useful for:

  • On the dust setting I can quickly go over laminate flooring about once a year.
  • I use the lift off to help me defrost the freezer about once a year.

I no longer use it for the kitchen floor, which was it's main purpose. You have to painstakingly remove every small crumb, because all it does is just get them wet and push them around the floor if you miss one, they don't actually get lifted off. It doesn't touch the mess around the high chair. It is actually quicker, and I get a better job, if I just get down on my hands and knees with a bucket of floor cleaner and do it myself with a cloth and a mop.

I seem to be struggling to keep up with the thread again, but have just read through and been nodding my head at various places.

Washable wipes - yes, used them for both DCs, cotton mini-flannels from the Nappy Lady. Still in daily use more than 10 years later as face wipes, spill wipes, whatever, in fact I bought a load more bamboo ones a couple of years ago, we keep a basket full in the bathroom for anyone to use. I used to use wet-wipes out and about but I have eczema on my hand and they aggravated it so I really didn't like them. Haven't used them since the DCs were out of nappies.

Steam mops - we have the Karcher cylinder vac type one. Not much use on floors, you have to fill it up, plug it in, wait for it to heat up, mop, watch it push crumbs around, reverse the whole process. However it is brilliant with its small brush head for cleaning grot-spots such as fridge and dishwasher seals, cooker hoods, the edges of the floor where a normal mop doesn't quite get to, grouting etc and does a good job on windows.

Chemistry - my favourite subject! Cag we have a set of chemical element Top Trump cards which are good fun. Also a pack of litmus papers from Amazon has all sorts of uses. I find the CGP KS3 workbooks useful and explain things well.

Flying. Err not much so far. Working at home today, DCs at school. One load of washing optimistically on the line (quick-drying sports wear) and one in the dryer. DW on. Ballet bag sorted and packed for later. Dinner planned. Thinking about making a pineapple upside down cake with some leftover pineapple.

I went to the supermarket with ds on our way back from a morning at the park and he had a major tantrum about some crackers - I was that mum dragging a child out of the supermarket whilst dropping shopping everywhere. He zonked out the second I put him in his car seat but then annoyingly woke up the second I took him out at home - I've put him in his bed to have my lunch in peace but he isn't asleep he keeps mumbling to himself. He's staying there until he actually starts crying though, he needs some alone time I think!!! and I really really do too

ta da
made dd packed lunch and took her to nursery
dishwasher on, rubbish out, some washing hung up, sides wiped.
got few groceries
got ds some new trousers as his all too small now
been to the park with a friend and to a cafe which was nice

to do
15 minutes kitchen
finish daily routine
clean big appliances
swish and swipe downstairs loo

I should have some work to do later so dh in charge of dinner - chicken fajitas tonight

CotswoldStrife · 08/03/2018 13:32

I haven't done anything today but I have stayed awake which is a win. Because I've just been getting up, taking DD to school and then going back to bed before I have to pick her up again! So things are improving.

Will have some lunch and prepare myself for parents evening by washing off the great smell of Vick

Steamcloud · 08/03/2018 14:57

I'm about to disappear again for a while (visitors then travelling).

So just wanted to wish Toostressy the very best of luck with her interview tomorrow (hope you have the outcome you want!) and to thank Cotswold for doing a sterling job of running March thread even though she is ailing Flowers Cake Gin.

Keep Flying high fledglings! Mahoosive wing flaps to all and to Penny Henny!

zoo, sounding like the character Boxer from Animal Farm there (I must work harder). Hope your DD feels better soon.

I certainly feel more human, and will attempt to work (with periods of rest) today. I think a substantial chippy tea last night helped. Back later!
