Hello all - welcome to our February thread for 2018. Everyone is welcome and it's never too late to join in. We are decluttering our homes and keeping them clean and tidy(ish) as well as having some general chat as well.

We follow the Flylady method, and will post links daily to the missions via the Flylady website. For more information, have a look at www.flylady.net/

Here's to a fun February for all of us (with the occasional prod from the pointy stick of motivation and visits to the naughty corner Cake Brew Wine ) Grin

Just catching up with the thread. Oh dear, lots of sickness and injuries about! Hope you’re all feeling better today.

I’m just going to add to that list though. Didn’t do any flying yesterday and doubt I’ll get much done today. I’ve had gallbladder problems for a few years. Quite bad pains to start with (thought I was having a heart attack the first time!) but they stopped so I didn’t go through with surgery. Last two nights the pain has come back with a vengeance (I was sick last night too) so I’m off to the doctor to get a prescription for an ultrasound. I really don’t fancy surgery but if they say the problem is worse than the last time, I may have to consider it. No long waiting lists here so that’s one good thing if it comes to that.

To do
End of month books plus invoices
Collect prescription
Book appointment for ultrasound
Finish paper sorting and moving files
Tap practise!

foxessocks · 05/02/2018 10:52

Ta das
Dd packed lunch made and dropped at nursery
Bought bread
Half daily routine
Dusted downstairs
Put towels etc wash on
Put clothes in charity bag
Sorted out some stuff on calendar this week (forgot am cooking for two extra on Friday and didn't buy anything woops)

To do
Bins
Dust upstairs
Hoover
Mop
Change dc beds
mirrors
Declutter in kitchen
Stove top

And have just had phone call from nursery their heating is broken so got to pick dd up at lunchtime. Which means no toddler group for ds which is a shame. And I'm going to end up indoors all day argh!

CotswoldStrife · 05/02/2018 11:50

Morning (just!) fledglings. I have been bouncing around between tasks this morning in an unco-ordinated manner. This was caused by losing a birthday card I'd bought and wanted to post today. I spent some time looking for it, before digging another one out of my stash of cards bought and not sent and then taking that to post and doing a bit of shopping as well. It's almost lunchtime and I'm just finishing breakfast!

Time for roll call

Hills hope the overtime passes quickly - think of the dosh
Whispers that was me the other weekend with the exams, we are also counting down to half term!
Bower cake yay for a night at home! Hope you got some rest, it's impossible to sleep in hospital because of all the noise IME.
Cag snow! Grab the sleep while you can though
fresh I did quite a bit of decluttering in the kitchen recently and it has made a big difference, no more tetris when I get back with the groceries!

zoo your usual list of awesomeness for the morning
Longtime my DH had gallbladder issues - it's so painful, you have my sympathy - he's been fine since surgery so do consider it.
foxes bah for the unexpected lack of nursery provision - it does put a dent in your day.

Back later, see you soon

Washing machine appointment for tomorrow has been postponed. Sob.

Thankfully I have helpful friends lined up and will need to buy lots of wine and flowers for them once it is actually fixed.

Got a few ta das done but now need to go out and get my washing. Ugh.

Afreshcuppateaplease · 05/02/2018 14:29

Your washing machine situation is stressing me out stressy! I think i would have exploded by now.

Having one of those days where i seem to be running all over the house doing stuff and seeing no improvement

Afreshcuppateaplease · 05/02/2018 14:32

Number of cupboards in my kitchen - 14
Decluttered and tidied - 5

Number of drawers in kitchen - 9
Decluttered and tidied - 3

Callmecordelia · 05/02/2018 14:34

I haven't done much. Still reading. I am mostly not ill now, and am sitting in the chaos the toddler has created.

Would have done home bleugh, but life happened. Tomorrow is another day!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 05/02/2018 14:41

I think this is the downside of having one of those insurance plans. So we are not paying a huge cost now - repairs and replacements are covered as we pay monthly but it means there is the hassle of waiting for when they can fit us in.

Steamcloud · 05/02/2018 14:42

Hi all [SC here] joining the huddle of fledglings in quarantine corner if I may. Actually, I am a lot better today but break was about as disastrous as it could be because I had an attack of labyrinthitis (at least doc thinks that what it was) which was so severe, sudden and so awful that I haven't been out alone since - although have just been to cardiologist appt with dh who is here thankfully - and dd has been floored by really bad flu/bronchitis and is currently off school in a put-you-up bed in the sitting room. Poor dh was understandably really disappointed initially that his mini-holiday was ruined (he hardly ever has the opportunity for a break) but has been manfully looking after us all ever since.

House is still appalling (as it was when I left it) and hasn't improved with illness descending.

Felt very low all over the weekend but today is such gorgeous weather - cold and sunny - that I can't help feeling cheered! And want to take back the reins from dh who has left the kitchen in a dreadful state. Close relatives arriving this coming weekend (can't wait) and so much to do before then that a list would take up three or four pages I think!

So just dropping by to say "hello" and to wish all the other poorly people and dc well! Hope you all recover soon!

Cotswold thank you so much for new thread and glad to hear that your dd is feeling considerably better now!

Goth it is fab to have you back on the thread - you were much missed!

Longtime so sorry you are feeling rough. Dh had a very bad gall bladder attack which resulted in him having it removed. You probably have your own contacts but if you want a recommendation for a really good gallbladder man, then do let me know! And please don't worry, dh's op went really really well (he bounced back after one day!) and has had absolutely no ill effects afterwards.

Bowerbird sorry to hear that you have been in a&e - do take care!
On the subject of palpitations (which I have in the night sometimes) - my cardiologist said this morning that my heart was fine but blood pressure and weight far too high. (Have to have a bp monitor and mobile electrocardiagram thingy early March.)

Well done re: CBT Zoo and making progress with eating! Star

Hope Cagletini recovers soon Cag!

Sorry - dh needs me to do some work - must go!

Mahoosive waves to everyone!

Cagliostro · 05/02/2018 15:43

Oh no, sorry to hear about the gallbladder attacks and labyrinthitis. I wouldn’t wish those on anyone!

I am feeling like absolute garbage again today, I don’t think I can use PMT as an excuse anymore :( although I do have cramps again Hmm so could still be hormonal I suppose.

I am descending into “being more autistic” as I tend to when stressed, main issue is I get more and more ‘black and white’ in my thinking which spirals very quickly into me being a hermit and doing absolutely nothing.

I am staving it off so far with a flylady style ‘any progress is progress’ type approach hence still doing a bit of laundry etc. But it’s getting more difficult. Of course the timing with Cagletini being ill and clingy isn’t helping.

Anyway. I have kicked the Caglets out the house with a neighbour for half an hour just to have some peace, and I am determined to get to taekwondo later despite wanting to hibernate, as the fresh air should help (snow turned out to be a non-settling ten minute sprinkling of fluff so temperature not an issue for Cagletini).

I really need some encouragement to make some changes or I’m just going to get worse :( barely even get time to talk about it with DH either as the few hours we get together are not alone time (stupid late shifts) and spent catching up on all the other crap I’m neglecting.

So the changes:
🎯keep working harder at getting to bed earlier
🎯less time on the iPad
🎯stop eating so much crap - this was so much easier while pregnant, as I was looking after baby (controlling blood sugar) but now, it is like it’s pointless doing it just for me, so I totally get why you struggle to eat the lovely healthy meals you make zoo (well done for making changes!)

I could write more but I have a feeling those three will have a knock on effect and I don’t want to be all black and white about it (FFS) and go too fast and fail

Aaaaand baby is crying. Back later.

Steamcloud · 05/02/2018 16:32

Whinge fest follows - feel free to ignore.

Between writing last post and this one, all I have done is emptied dw (dizziness - inducing) , cleared and cleaned kitchen surfaces and emptied bin and recycling after dh has been in charge (shudder). Sound awful saying this as dh has been cooking us beautiful meals but it astounds me that he can use stove and kitchen surfaces and not wipe them down afterwards - eugh - bins are full to bursting of course so they need an extra clean too and washing mouldering in huge stacks (we have a dw fhs!!) Plug hole is indescribable. It is so revolting just to start cooking amongst mess of previous meal but would feel mean mentioning it so I am raging here instead [anger]. Have also thrown out manky j-cloth and scourer which never seems to occur to him. I would honestly rather live off pot noodles than have to face that mess again. Dousing everything liberally with dettol anti-bacterial spray as I don't want us all to go down with stomach bugs on top of these viruses. My kitchen is cluttered owing to lack of decent storage space but I do like it clean!

Have also helped a white and wobbly dd have a bath - she is hoping to go back to school tomorrow - not sure I like the sound of her chest but she is definitely getting a bit better!

Next task: carry washing downstairs (hanging tightly on to banisters!) and laundry triage. Fortunately have stick grabber thing from when I had bad back to help me pick up washing from floor as bending makes me dizzier still!

Great lists Goth & Foxes!!

Go easy on yourself Cag you have a poorly babe in arms - that is a job in itself - go steady and anything else achieved is a bonus!!

Oh NO about washing machine repair postponement - that is such a pain in the bum Toostressy! Can you complain/chivvy?

YY Zoo, *Foxes is dead right, you deserve lovely meals too Flowers

Waves to everyone else! [Makes way unsteadily towards laundry piles]

GoingGoingGoth · 05/02/2018 16:44

Thanks for the welcome back SC

With being away so long I'm playing the "work out who the poster is/was" game.

I think everyone has new names Confused Blush

HillsBesideTheSea · 05/02/2018 17:02

Some have left too Goth
Sorry you have been so ill SC
I am exhausted. I have some sort of sinus infection thingy (again) which is affecting my ears (again) and is resulting in not enough good quality sleep (again). I could do with a r&r day but not going to happen. Still have more overtime to do this week which can't be helped but Meh and gah. So I took the advice, thought of the money and bought a bit of wool Blush
Sitting down now before I go run the errands that I delegated and haven't been done but have to get done so tea happens Hmm
I predict I will be shutting myself in my room, in bed and ignoring the world by about half 7pm homework situation permitting.

Stilllivinginazoo · 05/02/2018 17:07

Oh SC sorry to hear you've been so poorly.and DD tooSad
I think it's very normal for dh to not have your standards in kitchens.i may sound sexist but in my experience they rarely notice things(good example mrafreshs floordrobe- oblivious to the raging he was causing )my do a nightmare put empty boxes away(wtf?)and leaving trail carnage in his wake...
Cag sending motivational supportive hugs.you keep venting here lovely, and pick something, anything, and we can spur you forward.baby steps rememberFlowers
Goth I always end up walking on my clean floors...

Foxesit's freezing here so hot drinks are at least keeping you warm right?hope the mega nap doesn't lead to witching hour instead of bedtime...

Tada
Beef goulash in oven
Pick up lil zoo
Sweep kitchen floor

About give lil zoo meds
Dinner tonight- beef goulash.mash and green beans for lil ones.dp and I having ours with mash and roasted peppers, courgettes and sweet potatoes
(Veggie option)bean goulash(about to assemble and lob in pan),roast veg and mash
Pudding-plum crumble and custard

foxessocks · 05/02/2018 17:08

cag if you can see that there might be an issue that is good - I think seeing it is half the battle and then you can make sure you look after yourself Flowers

sc be careful! And that does sound frustrating and actually not mean at all -if you make a big mess and others in the house are poorly then you clean it up!

I have finished my list (I think!) . Managed to sort out some party bags for dd birthday whilst decluttering the kitchen as I found a stash of mini colouring books from last year Smile

Dinner is in theoven just need to do the peas in a minute and then hope for a good dinner time where everyone eats without any moaning and ds doesn't throw too many peas behind the curtain

foxessocks · 05/02/2018 17:10
